feh build dump as i've been cleaning out my fodder stash....had a lot of good free pulls/pitybreakers lately

waiting impatiently for julian to get his prf/refine (i have not been keeping track but i don't think it's too far off? could still be like a year though lmao) so he can be finished up. flayn's refine should be in the distance too, and guinivere (who i've been holding off on giving fodder to, her base kit is workable and the refine isn't THAT far away...) also always in need of more staff fodder....more.......

there aren't that many units i really want left who don't have at least one version in the game by now. mostly some engages (goldmary, zelkov, fogado mostly) and yashiro tms (i can dream...). and mitama, franz, elphin, and calill (someday, i hope?) plus would like better versions of a few guys (NOIRE, a nyna with some kind of prf, a non-fallen maurim). legendary l'arachel starting to seem not-impossible. and the maribelle and reyson alt dream never dies.

gonna snag celine when this hall of forms is over too (speaking of Needs An Alt, can i dream of her maybe someday getting a better outfit in feh?) got my first rennac (was never willing to spend much on him but always wanted him to finish team l'arachel so building him up now) and actively working on sp training some more little guys. feh is just a game for giving little guys treats i think

Leigh plays Tellius prt 18

It's time for the two-parter Marado map. I was feeling nervous about this one, mostly because of all the pegasus knights. My Jill was not doing so hot, so I was afraid she would become overwhelmed by them, and they would swarm my squishier units.

Thankfully, however, I managed to get through the first section without issue. The second section, on the other hand...

I do appreciate Fiona for what she was doing here. I only wish that she got more time to become a good character and/or a good unit. At least she has savior, which helps her not die on this map. The other cavaliers were not so lucky, and quite a few of them died. The amount of times my characters died because I rushed too quickly trying to save the villagers was... too many, really.

I do love this ongoing metaphor going on through this conversation, comparing themselves to shepherds and the people of Daein as "little lambs". It's so demeaning and dehumanizing, which is of course the point. It also shows how they rationalize their actions.

I love you Meg, I really do. And I get it. Meg's young and unfamiliar with the world outside of her small farming town. But this particular plot point always annoys me. Brom, why would you do this? I'm glad that Zihark is a complete gentleman about the whole situation. But I'm sad we never get any resolution over this. Does Meg ever realize Zihark doesn't want to marry her? I do know from her ending that she does end up getting married and having a family of her own, but it would have been interesting to see a little of what happened in between.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Radiant Dawn suffers a lot from the lack of support conversations. The Dawn Bridage, especially, suffer from stagnant character syndrome.

Micaiah getting upset at Pelleas for not having a backbone always puts a smile on my face. She's usually so distantly polite with everyone (with the exception of Sothe), so the times when she reveals a little more of her honest feelings and thoughts are really great to see. And while I adore Pelly, I 100% agree with Miccy here. Grow a spine, Pelleas!

Oh, and while you're growing that spine, maybe also lose the racism. Again, I love you buddy, you are the beorc equivalent of a sad puppy left outside in the rain, but dude. Try to form your own opinions for once.

Anyway, onto the prison break map!

Love these three! Wish they were more involved in the story.

Ahahaha. I don't know if Maurim meant this sincerely or sarcastically, but man. That comment alone probably destroyed whatever "manly pride" Sothe might have had.

The map itself didn't give me nearly as much trouble as the previous one. And luckily, Jill got some good level ups on this map, which transformed her from a slightly weak unit to a dependable one, which has put my mind at ease.

Sothe is so fucking funny. I love him.

Next was the stupid swamp map. For some reason, this is the only screenshot I took, probably because it was the only highlight. This one gave me even more trouble than the second Marado map. I really wanted to save most of the people trapped in the swamp, which meant I took some really stupid risks, and had to restart waaaay too many times. But at the end, at least Edward classed up.

This part of the story is so sweet. Micaiah has lived all of her life in the shadows, keeping her distance, afraid of how people would react if they learned her secret. And now here she is, adored by many, people who look up to her and feel inspired by her. I can only imagine what she's thinking during this scene. She probably thinks she doesn't deserve it, and to some extent, that's true. Or to be more accurate, they are idolizing her, putting her on a pedestal, which is puts a lot of pressure on her shoulders. She doesn't deserve that, because she is worth more than that.

Anyway, it's getting late, and I'm losing my train of thought. I just love this game so much, guys.

I've just found out that there's such a thing as "Eirika haters" which is despicable how could anyone hate the wonderful ray of sunshine that is Eirika she's the best...

But I found out because they're LUMPED IN WITH MICAIAH HATERS.

There is literally only one female FE lord I hate and it's Micaiah. How dare the misogynists ruin this for me. She tried to get Tormod and Maurim to eat with Izuka!! The night after he literally poisoned Maurim!!!! I cannot think of a worse way to write an attempt at a sympathetic character and people are out here saying she's the same as Eirika who was a little gullible in one route because she wanted to save her sweet soft boi pal (and from a gamemaker standpoint to make Ephraim look good)---

Fun FE9&10 fact!  Several weapons actually have special secret abilities not made explicit in the text of the game proper.  For example, both Alondite and Ragnell grant their wielders immunity to non-Wrath critical hits when equipped, while any weapon equipped by Ike gains the property of effectiveness against Dad units.

I loved hearing your thoughts! Your explanation for why laguz might feel unease around the branded makes total sense.

I really liked the exchanges between Maurim and Micaiah, and Vika and Micaiah. I only wish we had gotten something like that but for Soren. Maybe with Ranulf? Ranulf was the one to mention in RD how Soren had become more relaxed around the laguz, after all, and he’s intuitive enough that I’m sure that he figured out that Soren was branded. Skirmir or Lethe would have also been interesting options.

The STD thing could make sense, I suppose. But that would imply that there didn’t actually have to be any baby-making involved.

Please do draw feral baby dragon Soren! It would be so very cute!!

Some random Tellius thoughts

So for the most part I adore the idea of beorc, laguz, and the “branded” (shame there was never a less derogatory word invented for them) but there are some parts that still make me go like

Like how the laguz parent loses their ability to shapeshift, all laguz-related powers, and extended lifespan, but the beorc parents… aren’t affected at all? And when exactly in the pregnancy/birthing process does that happen? Does it start at conception? Or only when the child is born? And if it’s not a divine curse, then how does it happen in the first place?

Also why do the laguz have an instinctual fear/disgust of people who are branded? It’s not a taught prejudice; Vika had no idea Micaiah was branded, only that being around her made her jumpy and uneasy. Why is this never explored more fully???

Soren spent a lot of time around laguz in both games. Granted, he mostly avoided them like the plague in the first game, but in the second he is more at ease around them. But are any of the laguz unnerved by him? Logic would dictate that at least some of them were. And at what point — if any — did they grow used to him? Did the fact that he was branded ever become common knowledge?

(In one chapter, if you have Soren use a long-range spell on Micaiah, Soren seems to have no qualms seemingly shouting across the battlefield about how they are both branded, which I find hilarious, tho I don’t think that is meant to be taken literally)

Finally, and this is more wish fulfillment, I wish the branded Had been able to shift— maybe into something in-between a laguz in their human form and a laguz in their beast/bird/dragon form. Something monstrous.

I just want a Soren with horns, fangs, and claws, okay? Is that so much to ask?

Can you imagine how cute it would have been if baby Ike had given his sandwich to a little feral dragon baby Soren? Just imagine it.

(The fact that dragon laguz have no draconic qualities — no horns, wings, or tails — in their human form will forever be a huge disappointment to me. I know Why it’s that way. The Almedha and Pelleas plot never could have worked otherwise. I just like horned characters, and they had the opportunity to include some, and they squandered it.)

Anyway these are just some random/scattered thoughts I had. I’d be interested to hear if anyone else has similar thoughts

Micaiah in part 3: I'll burn people alive for Daein but if someone tries to hurt my sonbrotherboyfriend Sothe Daein can go fuck itself.

Can't believe they make this girl queen of Daein. It's no wonder the senate got so corrupt if all the Apostles were the same way.

The idea of a banner built around Jorge is interesting because while the obvious choice would be to just throw him on a banner that’s truly been built around someone from Tellius that scored higher than he did, he’s a fully noncombatant npc so there’s really nothing that you couldn’t do with him short of turning him into a beast/dragon unit which means you can actually like. have fun with trying to integrate him into Heroes. Since he’s really just a guy who sits in a shop all day and buys your stuff I think shoving him into a combat role (and then playing with his unwillingness and inexperience when it comes to fighting for some form of comedy) for the purposes of “lets get him into the game” and then basing the rest of the banner around the core concept of “characters who have changed their career path at some point” would at the very least make for a banner that’s fresh if not more inventive than anything we’ve see so far.

If we wanted to make this into Yet Another Series Banner we could do Jorge, Jill, Tormod, and... Volke (with Maurim as a ghb because i don’t want to have to pull for him and Sephiran as that month’s Mythic?)

If we don’t defeat the purpose of having a theme on a banner by just making it focus on one game anyway, here’s what I’ve come up with: Jorge (Mage, no particular color/movetype), Merlinus (Cavalry, Dagger (he throws whatever weapon he can get his hands on in a panic)), Jake (horse bow or infantry axe), Mozu (infantry lance). Lifis GHB or mythic (Infantry sword), since in FE5 he does. briefly stop being a thief but apparently in the novelization he ends up going off and founding Archanea. which. is of dubious canonicity at best but it’s exactly the kind of awareness of the series that I’d want out of Heroes. Remember when they referenced how in fe8 you can give any unit a weapon rank in Dark by giving us glepnir eirika at the end of year 1 despite it being wholly unintentional part of how Stone is meant to work? good stuff

Path of Radiance Ch. 14 & 15

Merging these together because chapter 14 was nothing special. Got Makalov even though I’m never going to use him.

Chapter 15....I tried to keep as many laguz alive as possible, but dang it’s hard. 13 left in the end, so not too bad. Some highlights include:

Got the Guard scroll, Physic, Shine (...despite no light tome users), white gem, Stefan, and boots. And a coin somewhere.

Mia gets the honor of first promotion!

...Rolf has a boss convo with Maurim??? Maurim’s so distressed to see a kid like Rolf fighting 😭

I could have left 14 laguz but Astrid gets like an entire level out of one which is more than the 40 bexp they give for leaving it so...rip that last raven
