I put Hammock where? In a bracket of an American electronic music scene that seems way too nebulous to be defined properly? You have to understand this is my personal categorization, mind you, I don't think you can officially put them anywhere else than in ambient, though hear me out – they and, for instance, Eluvium could have been found on your usual downtempo compilations, yet they would have felt out of place on them. They do move within the similar soundscapes than their European peers, but they seem to go towards the direction of vastness that can be tough to grasp. They should be seen as a certain strand of American music very few notice, i.e. they belong to those that gaze towards the distant horizons.
