Jefferson: Which brings us at last to the moment of truth. There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the school bathroom and to the salvation of Arcadia Bay. Jefferson: Love, it is the quintessential delusion. Held by those who desperately cling to their innocence, who in vain resist the inevitable shift from white to black to grey and beyond. It is impossible to become an everyday hero without experiencing corruption. Because heroes always choose lesser evils which lead to greater goods. Lose your naivete, Max. Kill your love in service of greater things. And as you willingly choose to commit an act of necessary evil, I'll be there to capture it with my camera. You will become my piece de resistance.

Max: If I were you, I would hope that we don’t meet again.

Jefferson: We won’t. Not in this timeline.

I absolutely love the parallels between Max and Neo. They were both faced with the same choice. Neo's choice of Trinity vs Zion is exactly the same as Bae vs Bay. And Neo chose his Bae without a moment's hesitation.

Both Chloe and Trinity were shot in the heart. And both Max and Neo, using their powers, pulled the bullets out of their paramours's hearts and jolted them back to life.

I’m a little mad that all my life people told me Matrix 2 was bad and not worth watching. This movie is fun as hell I can’t believe it took me this long to watch it.

Does it capture the tone of the original? The clean and elegant character writing? The evocative dialogue and compelling themes? The simple complexity of human depth of emotion that gave the first film it’s voice and magic?

No, absolutely not. Not at all. If that’s what you go in wanting you are going to be disappointed, 100%

But if you go in wanting only to have fun and play around in an imaginary world with a cool premise and unique set of possibilities, Matrix Reloaded has a lot to offer!!

This movie has EVERYTHING. Wacky car chases, rogue computer program crime lords with inter-computer-program relationship drama, way too much horndoggery, a nightclub in the post-apocalypse. MORPHEUS WITH A SWORD. The plot stops dead in its tracks so Neo can make out with a random hot chick for no reason. Morpheus quotes Les Misérables in a mournful whisper of solemnity in their hour of loss. NOT ONLY GHOSTS BUT ALSO WEREWOLVES. Some TOP TIER "dude wouldn’t it be so fucked up if ________ happened?" plot nonsense, complete with campy Intro to Determinism dialogue.

And the fights were SO FUN. That wire-fu Neo v. Mob of Agent Smiths fight are you kidding me?? I really love wuxia as a genre and seeing that style of fight choreography applied to a very different setting and stylistic environment was super refreshing. Unironically good stuff!!

Go watch Matrix Reloaded! Have a good time!!! Just go in prepared to treat it as a completely separate entity from the original. If you try to imagine them together as a contained and canonically linked narrative you will want to rip your hair out don't do that.
