15. Countess Olympia von und zu Arco-Zinneberg. (Oscar de la Renta)

Ok, so I love this dress. If Maria Olympia was at the Oscars (for some reason) and had pulled this out, I would have died. If she married on a beach or in a big field, I’d be all there for it. But it’s not for a church, royal wedding. Also, the cape part makes her boobs look awful.

14. Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (Norman Hartnell)

Margaret is rocking the Poltimore and yet we’re still here, on my worst dressed list. The skirt is just SO big. It drowns her. Where is Margaret? I don’t know, I can’t see her behind that GIANT SKIRT. It could just be because she’s next to Philip but she looks incredibly small.

13. Matilde Borromeo & Lavinia Borromeo (both in Valentino)

I was looking for Mathilde’s wedding dress and stumbled across Matilde’s wedding dress. I know she’s clearly pregnant but that is not the problem with her dress. I just need someone to explain what is going on with the bottom half. Why is the back of the dress just sewn on? What is with the train? I found Lavinia’s when I was trying to find the designer of Matilde’s and it’s even worse. The weird satin material. The lines on the bodice. Burn it.

12. Sophie Winkleman, Lady Frederick Windsor (Anna Bystrova for Rosa)

Shout out to Jess for introducing me to this monstrosity. The satin is awful but it’s not too bad, until you notice the lace overlay on the bottom. Why is it there? Why is the lace on the sleeves different? Why does it look like it would be impossible to sit down in?

11. Empress Masako of Japan (Elie Saab)

I love Masako but what I do not love is this dress? The ruffles are... something. The buttons make me think it’s a coat, not a wedding dress. I don’t massively like the, what I can only assume is, lace? Also, the handbag (who has a handbag with their wedding dress) blends in. I love the jewels though.

10. Queen Letizia of Spain (Manuel Perdegaz)

Leti. Honey. You didn’t pull it out of the bag. I don’t hate it. I just don’t like it. I don’t like the collar at all (a common theme in some of these dresses) and it needs to make up it’s mind if it wants to be plain or have decoration. You can’t do both. While I’m here, shout out for the worst bridal attendant outfits EVER.

9. Queen Rania of Jordan (Bruce Oldfield)

The collar is so bad. It’s awful. The gloves are also bad. This looks like some Elvis Presley/MJ homage. Is it a coat over a dress? What’s with the belt? I have so many questions and the main one is why would anyone ever wear this?

8. Queen Silvia of Sweden (Dior)

No one told me Silvia had decided to wear her own nightie to her wedding! Jk. This dress is hideous. I can’t believe MARC BOHEN made this. It looks like a bunch of sheets stuck together. Silvia, Dior did you dirty.

7. Queen Margrethe of Denmark (Jørgen Bender)

The daisy. That’s it. That’s the reason it’s on the list. It’s hideous. Get rid of the daisy and it’s just a plain, simple wedding dress. I hate that daisy.

6. Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau (Viktor & Rolf)

I do love Mabel. I have a lot of love for this wedding dress. BUT I cannot ignore the bows. I know Mabel asked for an unconventional wedding gown (and she certainly got it) but that doesn’t excuse it. This photo cuts off the worst bows, the ones at the ends of the train. They are so big. I do love the little bow at the bottom of the buttons though.

5. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark (Uffe Frank)

The folds on the skirts are iconic. Iconicly bad. The sleeves are also bad. The worst part is the veil. She has like 2 foot of hair on her head and the veil is just popped on top. Also, while we’re here, let’s discuss what on earth is going on with that bouquet?

4. Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg (Jørgen Bender)

It’s big. It’s bold. It’s bad. Why do so many royal brides wear a dress that essentially looks like a huge ugly coat? The collar is bad. The strange lining on the dress around the edges is ugly and I don’t know why it’s there. Her second wedding dress is awful bad so clearly Alexandra has no taste in wedding dresses.

3. Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (Henrik Hvild)

I can’t believe she is wearing the same veil Margrethe is. The same veil worn by Margaret of Connaught. Either way, I appreciate the aesthetic of wearing those glow in the dark ceiling stars on your wedding dress but it looks like pasta. It’s bad on the sleeves and worse on the body of the dress. The stars are just randomly placed.

2. Charlotte Casiraghi - Civil Wedding (Yves Saint Laurent)

I could easily have put all of Charlotte’s wedding dresses here. They were all so bad and after the glory of Tatiana’s and Beatrice’s, and even Marie’s, I was so let down. But this is easily the worst of the bunch. For a start, it’s grey. The lace overlay on it makes it look like it’s something Kate would wear (but a longer version) to disappoint me. The shoes are super dull. The worst part, clearly, are the bows. What’s with the giant bows? Why are there 3? Why are they just on the front like that? Why?

1. Lady Diana Spencer (David and Elizabeth Emmanuel)

This dress is hideous. It’s the worst. I will never have enough words to describe how much I loathe this dress. Did people really like it? Did people ever like it? Are there still people today like “that’s my dream wedding dress”? It’s like the Emmanuels went “what are the worst trends of the 80s” and put them all in one dress. I know this marriage ended in divorce but if I was Charles and saw that dress coming up at me up the aisle, I wouldn’t have made it to the I Dos.

What do you know about the tiaras owned by the Borromeo family?

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the tiaras of the Borromeo family.  The Borromeos are a very old Italian noble family whose most famous member is Beatrice, wife of Pierre Casiraghi.  She didn’t wear a tiara at her wedding but all of her sisters and her sister-in-law did.  Lavinia and Isabella wore the same tiara on their wedding day so this is likely a Borromeo piece.  Matilde wore a Fürstenbergtiara from her husband’s family and Marta wore a red coral tiara that was a gift from her mother-in-law,Paola Marzotto.  I’ve only ever seen the Borromeo women wear tiaras at their weddings.

I doubt that we will ever see Beatrice Borromeo wear a tiara.  During a photo-shoot with Glamour Magazine in 2016, the stylist tried to put a tiara on her and she said “Don’t make me like a little princess, please. It would really depress me.“(x)

       ~ “This tiara, consisting of 11 medallions formed by two diamond lilies and surmounted by 23 pear-shaped pearls, was made by the Flach Mediansky & Paltscho jewellers in 1889 for Countess Irma of Schönborn Buchheim, commissioned by her husband, Prince Maximilian Egon II of Fürstenberg, using brooches made a few years earlier.

This jewel is of immense versatility, as it can be worn:

In the form of a necklace by wearing only the 11 medallions and adding only a clip pin;

· Removing the diamond medallions, so that the 23 pearls seemed to hang in the hair;

Removing the smaller pearls, leaving only the large ones;

Wearing only the diamond motifs without pearls;

By replacing pearls with other precious stones, as Irma did in a portrait by Philip de Laszlo, in which she exchanged pearls for a large pear-shaped cabochon emerald on the central medallion;

In addition, each locket could be worn individually as a brooch or hairpin.

     The tiara remained in the family after Irma's death in 1948 and has since been worn by various members, including Princess Paula of Fürstenberg who wore it at the wedding ball of the wedding of Princess Marie-Louise of Prussia and Count Rudolf of Schönburg-Glauchau. in 1971 and at the wedding ball of Princess Marie Antoinette of Fürstenberg's marriage to Count Johannes of Schoenborn Wiesentheid in 1977.

     The last appearance of the tiara in its full version was in 1993 at the wedding ball for the wedding of Duke Frederik of Württemberg to Princess Marie of Wied in 1993.

O almeno è quello che crediamo stando ai recenti avvistamenti che si sono susseguiti in questa estate rovente. Abbiamo visto vacanze da sogno, viaggi che avremmo voluto noi stessi proporre ai nostri amici ma che nemmeno se vincessimo alla lotteria saremmo in grado di organizzare, ma si sa, il gossip non va mai in vacanza. Siamo ormai agli sgoccioli, mancano non più di un paio di settimane all'inizio dell'autunno e nonostante le giornate abbiano cominciato anche ad accorciarsi, siamo pronti per tenervi compagnia in questo rientro al lavoro. Le città sembrano popolarsi sempre di più, la routine diventa qualcosa a cui bisogna necessariamente riabituarsi, ma con il rientro in città non è passato inosservato un rientro piuttosto turbolento da parte della nostra principessa monegasca. La giovane, che sembra aver girato in lungo e in largo questa estate lasciandoci anche a bocca aperta con i suoi scatti sui social, è stata avvistata mentre s'allontanava dal suo appartamento con alcuni scatoloni. E' forse tempo di traslochi e non lo sapevamo? Che questo incontro sia stata la goccia che ha fatto traboccare il vaso? Alla fine dell’Ottocento sulle sponde piemontesi del Lago Maggiore furono molti i russi che, dalla loro gelida terra, vennero a passare le vacanze e poi anche a vivere in pianta stabile, attirati dalle bellezze, dal clima mite, dal romanticismo del luogo, ma anche dalla vita mondana ed effervescente che aveva il suo cuore pulsante a Stresa, dove erano sorti grandi e lussuosi alberghi e ville. Alberghi e ville che avevano calamitato il fior fiore della classe nobiliare di tutta Europa con le loro corti e non solo, ma anche banchieri e artisti. Dove fino allo scoppio della prima guerra mondiale, s’intrecciarono rapporti stretti, non solo tra le più importanti famiglie regnanti, ma anche una commistione d’idee tra le varie correnti culturali e artistiche con i massimi esponenti che passavano spesso e volentieri sul Golfo Borromeo.

A Stresa alloggiava in vacanza la famiglia Romanov, i regnanti di Russia, Alessandra di Sassonia-Altenburg lasciò più di una traccia della sua presenza sul Verbano. Sposò il granduca Konstantin Nikolaevič, figlio dello zar Nicola I di Russia, prendendo poi il nome di granduchessa Alexandra Iosifovna. Un passaggio importante quello dei Romanov che vide poi altri membri della corte russa soggiornare sul Verbano.

Tra Stresa e Belgirate, si trova la villa Principessa Matilde, dove nella seconda metà dell’800 ha vissuto il principe Aleksej Jurevič Dolgorukij con la moglie, Olga Petrovna Trubeckaja.

A Miazzina, sulla montagna alle spalle di Verbania, invece morì, il 16 ottobre 1934, Aleksandr Nikolaevič Ferzen, figlio del generale russo Nikolaj e della principessa Sofija Aleksandrovna Dolgorukaja.

Il nome russo più legato al Lago Maggiore è però quello dello scultore Paolo Troubetzkoy, nato proprio a Intra, nel 1866, figlio di seconde nozze del principe russo di famiglia antica Pietro, diplomatico, amministratore e generale e della cantante lirica americana Ada Winans, conosciuta a Firenze, dove si era recata per completare gli studi.

Paolo visse la sua infanzia sul Lago Maggiore, nella splendida villa di famiglia a Ghiffa, che il principe dedicò alla moglie Ada. La struttura dell’abitazione, con una parte in legno, ricordava le tradizionali dacie russe.

Dalla villa si godeva una vista magnifica su tutto il lago, era stata scelta perchè la posizione e il clima, si sposavano perfettamente con la passione del principe Pietro Trubetzkoy, la botanica. Infatti fece bonificare una vasta area sui primi pendii della montagna fronte lago con l’intento di costruire una dimora circondata da fiori e piante. Nell’estate del 1867 il parco si presentava già con diverse piante rare ed esotiche, il primo Pinus Strobus giunse qua dall’America e fu circondato poi da altre piante importanti come palme; il tutto immerso nei colori delle varie piante tipiche del lago come camelie, azalee, rododendri e gardenie. Inoltre si poteva trovare una grande serra, per le specie più delicate, creando così un giardino che probabilmente per la sua varietà e qualità, non esiste in tutta Europa. Lo stesso Trubetzkoy fu promotore a Mosca e non solo, di esempi simili.

Una villa che, come altre su questo tratto del Verbano, era un vero e proprio cenacolo di cultura, dove passarono molti tra nobili e artisti, tra i tanti musicisti come Alfredo Catalani e Benedetto Junck, il compositore Arrigo Boito ed Eleonora Duse.

E dove trovarono i favori del mecenatismo dei Troubetzkoy, lo scultore Giuseppe Grandi e i pittori Tranquillo Cremona e Daniele Ranzoni. Di particolare rilievo la figura di Ranzoni, nativo proprio di Intra, che con Cremona fu uno degli elementi della scapigliatura lombarda e influirono ambedue sulla crescita e la ricerca artistica di Paolo Troubetzkoy.

Ranzoni da sempre sotto la tutela dei Troubetzkoy, nel 1872, ammalato e di ritorno da Milano, si rivolse ai principi per ottenere un aiuto economico. Questi lo ospitarono in pianta stabile nella loro residenza di Villa Ada, dandogli l’incarico di precettore dei figli Piero, Paolo e Luigi.

Tra i tanti legami tra questa famiglia russa e Daniele Ranzoni, un quadro in cui il pittore verbanese ritrasse Paolo da bambino con i suoi due fratelli, nella serra della villa, in quello che è considerato uno dei più bei ritratti infantili dell’800, conservato alla Gam (Galleria d’arte moderna) di Milano.

Paolo Troubetzkoy, però non si dimostrò amante degli studi e tanto meno propenso a curarsi degli interessi di famiglia, che disponeva di varie tenute in Russia. Richiamato in patria dal padre nel 1883, che voleva seguisse le sue orme, tornò pochi mesi dopo a Ghiffa. Nel 1884, si trasferì a Milano, ma il suo apprendistato con gli scultori Donato Barcaglia ed Ernesto Bazzaro e il fratello maggiore di quest’ultimo, il pittore paesaggista Leonardo, uno dei maggiori interpreti del naturalismo lombardo e della scapigliatura, anch’esso con residenza sul Lago Maggiore, sulla collina di Gignese sopra Stresa, durò poco.

A Milano Troubetzkoy venne in contatto anche con il compositore Alfredo Catalani, il commediografo Luigi Illica, il pittore e architetto Luigi Conconi e con Giovanni Segantini, tra i massimi esperti del divisionismo pittorico, di cui poi eseguirà un celebre, impetuoso busto in bronzo.

Questo periodo milanese, durò solo pochi ma intensi mesi perché poi alla teoria, preferì proseguire da autodidatta e lavorare dal vero, studiando gli animali, le persone nei loro movimenti ed espressioni. A vent’anni nel 1886, espose per la prima volta a Brera con la scultura “Un cavallo”.

Negli anni successivi Paolo Troubetzkoy partecipò a numerosi concorsi per i monumenti a Garibaldi, Dante, Amedeo di Savoia, che venivano eretti in varie città italiane, mentre alcune sue opere furono acquistate dalla Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna di Roma e dal Golden Gate Museum di San Francisco.

Pur venendo da una famiglia di mecenati, aver vissuto l’arte da sempre, essere a contatto con i migliori del tempo, ma non avendo la necessità di lavorare come scultore o pittore per vivere, e non seguire le mode del periodo, di essere indipendente, sfuggire a ogni canone e non sottostare alle commissioni dei galleristi, mise Troubetzkoy in una posizione particolare, con colleghi e soprattutto critici che lo bollarono al lungo solo come un “ricco dilettante” e non un artista vero, su cui puntare.

Il suo stile scultoreo sfuggiva agli schemi del tempo, influenzato com’era dalla scapigliatura e dalla sua visione della realtà. Tocchi rapidi, spesso profondi, che danno alle sue opere quel tratto di “non finito” ma che consegnavano quel tratto vivo e particolare. Opere che sembrano prendere vita e muoversi, talmente sono ancora oggi nervose e impetuose nel gesto e nel volto.

Una delle prime vere svolte nella sua carriera si ebbe nella primavera del 1892, quando Troubetzkoy si recò a Napoli, dove conobbe Gabriele D’Annunzio, che gli aveva dedicato una bella recensione sulle colonne del quotidiano “Il Mattino”, in occasione della vittoria dello scultore al concorso per il monumento a Garibaldi a Napoli. Troubetzkoy, durante il suo soggiorno partenopeo, realizzò un ritratto particolarmente espressivo del poeta (esposto al Vittoriale) ed ebbe anche modo di eseguirne uno di Francesco Crispi. Altra opera del tempo è quella del conte Antonio Durini.

Troubetzkoy nel dicembre 1898 lasciò Milano e tornò in Russia, dove tenne un corso di scultura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Mosca, durante il quale invitò gli allievi a copiare non dall’antico, ma sforzandosi di imparare a farlo dal vero e dall’attuale. Frequentò poi l’Associazione per le esposizioni ambulanti, legata ai pittori russi che affermavano i principi del realismo nell’arte, aperto a influenze dell’impressionismo francese.

Mentre era impegnato in una mostra a Stoccolma, lo scultore conobbe Elin Sundström, che sarebbe diventata sua moglie, poi nel 1899 incontrò, a Jasnaja Poljana, Lev Tolstoj, cui dedicò due busti, un ritratto a cavallo, un dipinto a olio e alcuni disegni.

Da questo incontro, Troubetzkoy rimane profondamente colpito dall’umanitarismo e dal vegetarianismo dello scrittore russo, decidendo di non mangiare più nessun alimento proveniente da animali. Lavorò anche a molti ritratti di politici e nobili russi, tra cui il principe Lev Galitzin, la principessa Gagarina e i granduchi Wladimirovich e nel 1901 vinse il concorso per il monumento allo zar Alessandro III da erigersi a Pietroburgo, opera che fu inaugurata, dopo molte polemiche e rifacimenti, nel 1909.

Nel 1905, dopo la guerra russo-giapponese e lo scoppio dei primi moti rivoluzionari, Troubetzkoy fuggi dalla Russia per rifugiarsi prima in Finlandia e poi a Milano, stabilendosi infine a Parigi, dove era stato invitato per lavorare a un monumento a Tolstoj, inoltre divenne un membro della Société Nouvelle des Peintres et Sculpteurs, presieduta da Auguste Rodin.

Presso lo studio del pittore Sargent a Londra, nel 1908, lo scultore eseguì il primo busto del drammaturgo George Bernard Shaw.

Altre sue opere sono quelle che ritraggono il mondo dell’alta società e della cultura internazionale, che movimentano la Belle Epoque del periodo. Come quelli di Arturo Toscanini, Enrico Caruso, Puccini, Gertrude Vanderbilt, il barone de Rotschild, il conte Robert de Montesquiou. Ma anche piccole statue che raffigurano ballerine, fanciulle in movimento e bambini.

Dal 1911 le opere di Troubetzkoy furono esposte in alcune mostre collocate in diverse città americane, tra cui Buffalo, Chicago, St. Louis, Boston e, quando nel 1914 si recò a New York per una nuova esposizione, lo scultore decise di non tornare in Europa a causa dello scoppio della prima guerra mondiale.

Nel 1919 Paolo Troubetzkoy, vinse a Los Angeles il concorso per il monumento al generale Harrison Gray Otis, che venne inaugurato l’anno seguente, inoltre, nel suo studio di Hollywood, fece il ritratto a molti attori della nascente industria cinematografica, tra cui Mary Pickford e Douglas Fairbanks senior, oltre a opere di soggetto vegetariano o ispirate al folklore americano, come cowboys, rodei e indiani pellerossa.

Troubetzkoy nel 1921 tornò a Parigi, dove affittò una villetta con studio nel sobborgo di Neuilly sur Seine, mentre d’estate tornava sul Lago Maggiore, andando a vivere alla Ca’ Bianca di Suna. Nel 1923 la città di Pallanza gli commissionò il monumento ai caduti.

Nel 1934 lo scultore si recò in Egitto, per esporre ad Alessandria e al Cairo, poi continuò a lavorare assiduamente nonostante una grave forma di anemia, probabilmente indotta dal suo regime alimentare, che lo condusse alla morte a Pallanza il 12 febbraio1938.

Per seguire l’ultimo desiderio dell’artista russo, i suoi eredi donarono al Museo del Paesaggio di Pallanza tutte le opere in gesso lasciate nella residenza di Suna e nello studio di Neuilly sur Seine.

A Paolo Troubetzkoy, è intitolato lo splendido e interminabile lungolago che da Pallanza attraversa Suna. Altra opera è Palazzo Troubetzkoy, a Milano, un palazzetto situato in via Mascheroni al civico 19.

Il palazzo fu costruito a partire dal 1916, proprio su commissione dello scultore. E’ decorato al pian terreno e al primo piano con un bugnato liscio. I piani superiori sono caratterizzati ai lati da finestre ad arco, mentre la parte centrale da una facciata in mattoni con finestre e finestre-balcone decorate in stucco, che all’ultimo piano si chiudono con una loggia e una cupola.

She is the daughter of Don Carlo Ferdinando Borromeo, Count of Arona the son of Vitaliano Borromeo, 2nd Prince of Angera, and his long-time companion, Countess Donna Paola Marzotto Through her father she is related to Carlo Borromeo, who became a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop of Milan, and a canonized saint. 

The family currently owns most of the Borromean Islands in the Lago Maggiore, Milan city, and many other estates in the Lombardy and Piedmont countryside . She has an older brother, Carlo Ludovico Borromeo, who married Italian fashion designer Marta Ferri  daughter of Italian photographer Fabrizio Ferri,on 30 June 2012 on the island of Pantelleria.

Beatrice has three older half-sisters from her father's first marriage to German model Marion Sybil Zota: Donna Isabella married Count Ugo Brachetti Peretti. Donna Lavinia; married John Elkann, son of Margherita Agnelli de Pahlen and Alain Elkann. Donna Matilde married Prince Antonius zu Fürstenberg son of Heinrich, Prince of Fürstenberg.

Her maternal grandmother was the fashion designer Marta Marzotto (née Vacondio), ex-wife of Count Umberto Marzotto.Her uncle, Count Matteo Marzotto, is the former president and director of the Valentino fashion house at the time the label belonged to the Marzotto Group.

Since 2008, Borromeo became increasingly known in the tabloid press as the girlfriend of Pierre Casiraghi, the younger son of Caroline, Princess of Hanover. The couple married in a civil ceremony on Saturday, 25 July 2015 in the gardens of the Prince's Palace of Monaco. The religious ceremony took place on 1 August 2015 on Isola Bella, one of the Borromean Islands on Lake Maggiore, Italy. 

She finished secondary education, in 2002, at Milan's Liceo Classico Giovanni Berchet. Borromeo received a bachelor of laws from Bocconi University, Milan in 2010, under supervision of prof. Lorenzo Cuocolo. She also received a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University Journalism School in May 2012

Beatrice was a contributor to Newsweek and the Daily Beast in 2013. Prior to that, and from the newspaper's beginning in 2009, she worked as a full-time reporter for Il Fatto Quotidiano. She continued in that position through the year 2016

She has appeared on many television shows in Italy, beginning with Anno Zero on Rai 2 where she worked for two years, from 2006 to 2008. Every week she interviewed an average three guests on political development and social evils. In 2009, she even hosted a weekly show on the Radio 105 Network.

She interviewed Roberto Saviano, the famous author of Gomorrah, for Above magazine's June 2009 issue. She also interviewed American author of LA Confidential James Ellroy and former candidate for Colombia's presidency Ingrid Betancourt both for Il Fatto Quotidiano. For the same newspaper, she also interviewed Marcello Dell'Utri, Italian Senator and co-founder of Forza Italia. In the interview, Dell'Utri admitted to have entered politics to get immunity in order to escape his arrest. 

She directed Mamma Mafia, a documentary about mafia women: its preview was released by the Newsweek Daily Beast Company on 31 January 2013. That was her sole film in the English language. She has directed several documentaries in the Italian language, ranging from topics as the women of 'Ndrangheta, selfie surgery, and the children of Caivano.

Borromeo collaborated with Marco Travaglio and Vauro Senesi on the book Italia Annozero (Chiarelettere, 2009). She also wrote the preface for Birgit Hamer's Delitto senza castigo: La Vera Storia di Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia. (Aliberti, 2011).Birgit Hamer is a very old family friend; her mother is dear friends with Borromeo's mother, and Borromeo has admitted to having grown up hearing about the murder of Dirk Hamer from his sisters, including Birgit. Borromeo broke the story of the video confession of Vittorio Emanuele, who subsequently sued the newspaper for defamation. In 2015 a court ruled in favour of the newspaper.Borromeo then posted on Twitter: "Vincere una causa e' sempre piacevole, ma contro Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia la goduria è doppia!" ("Winning a case is always nice, but against Victor Emmanuel of Savoy the pleasure is double"), which resulted in spat on social media with his son Emanuele Filiberto

In November 2015 she was sanctioned Special Envoy for Human Rights for F4D. She considered herself in 2005 "atheist and leftist".

Pierre and Beatrice's first son, Stefano Ercole Carlo Casiraghi, was born on 28 February 2017. Their second son, Francesco Carlo Albert, was born on 21 May 2018.

11 giugno 2011 si è svolto il matrimonio fiabesco di Matilde Borromeo e Antonius Von Fürstenberg, a Stresa, sul Lago di Como, sull’Isola Bella, di proprietà della famiglia della sposa.

La sposa è Matilde Borromeo erede della storica casata, figlia della ex modella tedesca Marion Zota e del conte Carlo Borromeo, discendente della famiglia di San Carlo, sorella di Lavinia (signora Elkann-Agnelli), di Beatrice (giornalista di “Annozero” e del “Il Fatto quotidiano”, nonchè fidanzata di Pierre Casiraghi) e di Isabella, sposata al petroliere Ugo Maria Brachetti Peretti. Lo sposo è Antonius Von Fürstenberg, principe della famiglia reale di Germania, dinastia imparentata in passato con gli Agnelli e che, tra i parenti dell’antichità conta nientepopodimeno che l’imperatrice Sissi, mentre nel jet-set Ira è sua cugina.

Il colpo di fulmine tra Antonius Von Fürstenberg e Matilde Borromeo è scoccato durante una festa a Donaueschingen, nel castello settecentesco della casata di lui.

Una cerimonia ricca e lussuosa quella organizzata per le nozze della splendida Matilde. Cerimonia di nozze, che ha avuto luogo a Stresa, sul Lago di Como, dove erano presenti ospiti importanti e famosi, nei loro abiti eleganti e principeschi. Lo sposo, Antonius von Fürstenberg, è arrivato in Chiesa raggiante ed emozionato, in tight firmato Valentino, con gilet azzurro e cravatta di tonalità minori, con la madre, vestita con un meraviglioso abito verde acqua sfumato. Bellissime le sorelle della sposa, anch’esse vestite da Valentino e i nipoti vestiti da paggetti, i maschietti, e le bambine con lunghi abiti color cipria a riprendere l’abito della sposa, anch’esso firmato Valentino.

L’abito della sposa bianco/avorio, disegnato in esclusiva da Valentino per lei, con taglio a impero (sotto-seno), ma che segue nella gonna la linea a sirena; particolare la coda, unita all’abito con un gioco di cuciture che, nella parte finale, richiama una grande balza che prolunga la lunghezza della coda stessa. Tessuto in taffetà e nella parte superiore dell’abito, un corto corpino, dove il seno e le bretelle larghe, sono ricoperte da una larga trama in cotone e in seta fatta a mano, la quale viene ripresa, in una finitura più sottile, nel corpino degli abiti delle piccole damigelle (le nipotine della sposa). Come copricapo, la sposa ha indossato un diadema da cui parte un velo lungo, rifinito in pizzo con all’interno applicazioni di fiori, sempre in pizzo leggero, fatte a mano. Bouquet classico, misto, con un tocco di arancio sfumato in giallo, richiamato anche nelle coroncine di fiori, in stile vintage, delle piccole damigelle. Nessun gioiello, nè orecchini, nè collanina; niente guanti e la fede era ben visibile dopo la cerimonia religiosa.

Il ricevimento è stato ricco e di gran classe e la serenità che traspare fra gli sposi e i parenti è evidente dalle foto che seguono … prese da “hola magazine” che ha avuto l’esclusiva delle immagini delle nozze.

The ghillie collar of the coat is worn turned up, the coat is unbuttoned so that the go-go 1980s power tie is on full display. A kind of tie you just don't see anymore these days. But I digress, back on topic; for some obscure reason the 'camel coat' has made a comeback and are a fashionable piece of outerwear for both men and women, you can find covert coats, British Warms, various Chesterfield models, polo coats and even more half-breeds of aformentioned overcoat styles out there. Seasoned iGents know that 'round this time of year Pitti Uomo photoposts will hit the #menswear blogosphere carpet bombing style, I expect to see a lot of 'camel coat' mutations and other beige half breeds dreamed up by ignorant but courageous enthousiasts who think they can improve on the classics. Clever dressers will try to avoid these camel mutations, Mother Nature has a tendency to kill the vast majority of mutations off in just one generation, fashion kills them even faster. Don't be victim, make sure your camel coat is a purebred.
