SAY IT WITH ME: FURSUITS ARE A LUXURY YOU DO NOT NEED ONE. DO NOT BUY MASS PRODUCED ONES.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These people absolutely disgust me. Shit like this is genuinely just so gross. What if I went and stole all of your hard work and designs to mass produce so people will buy shitty low quality ones rather than the ones you spend hours and tons of money on materials for???? Disgusting is all I can say. If you are like this you are disgusting. Vomit inducing.

growing up poor made me understand that a lack of quality doesnt have to be a bad thing but i feel like its gonna affect my fursuit work soon lmao
like. especially heads. the stuff around jems eyes? 0.98 cent felt. their tongue? sewn a few times then glued down. the inside is just foam w no liner
whats the point of all that fancy stuff? i dont mind putting it back together when it inevitably falls apart
but now that im making pieces to sell i gotta quadruple sew and do alllll this extra stuff and its like. dam. furries b spoiled. sometimes....... its ok to have home-made quality stuff rather than a suit head that looks like it was mass produced in a factory by like, professionals. hjgmgkfcmcmmcmcmfm PEROSNAL OPINION DONT COME AT ME like an actual harmless its just my opiniooooooon moment

Do you feel like corporate gentrification (Or at least the declawing of the fandom to make it suitable for mass consumption) of the furry fandom is almost an inevitability at this point? Between the groups of "It's not just a fetish, please accept us normies" and "Kink police please think of the children" it feels as though anyone who doesn't enjoy the fandom for safe, all-ages means is destined to be ostracized by it.
Yes, it’s already happening, and not in the way you would expect
You have non-furries coming in to make anthropomorphic/furry adjacent characters and literally copying other artists 1:1 out of opportunism (see: cocadope), which is like the stage setter for it and has been this way for years now, normalizing it to a broader audience.
You have corporations like Hyena Agenda hosting the Fashion Fur collective, exploiting the people who run that for the tax credits from their non-profit. These companies that begin as “artist run!” that are now halfway to Bad Dragon tier of literally cease and desisting me for a parody shirt and then plagiarizing that very design for their logo.
But now you have chinese factories and other “mascot producers” coming out making poor quality fursuit premades, filling in the lower run of the market and interrupting the maker and craftsperson market it once was.
Besides that, there was the recent drama of that fashion designer dude who collaborated with a suit maker to make Luxury Designer fursuits for $7000 or something.
its like, happening. It’s an inevitability. Capitalism will render all things into commodified mockeries of itself. And once that happens, these poor fucker non-furries are going to see it rammed into their daily life by way of advertising and market synchronization with their own.

this whole zweitesich designer fursuit drama is pretty funny, but at the end of the day, mass produced fursuits that all look the same is a pretty bad idea
