Those Snow White Notes Review

I started this anime earlier this year and then promptly forgot about it. Last night I finally finished it and here are my thoughts:

I have to say I sobbed for a total of over an hour after finishing it. The finale broke me as a musician. To see Setsu *finally* figure out his sound and play for himself in the second half of his performance JUST to have that trashed, spoken down to, utterly rejected was heartbreaking. There aren't enough words to describe the anguish I feel for him ( and myself..)

I love the shamisen very dearly, and one day, want to learn how to play it and spend a decent amount of my time researching and listening to it. I found the performances in the group categories to be so interesting and beautiful. I could listen to it all day long.

Though there were a lot of dialogue dumps of information and the writing and over dramatization too much- seeing the group of friends communicate with each other and grow even as beginner shamisen players was so much fun. And to see the hard work pay off, placing 3rd WAS impressive even if bittersweet and disappointing.

Setsu's father and mother are abhorrent and selfish people, in their attempts to puppet Setsu because of his closeness with his late grandfather and his sound. They're both stuck in the past and treat him terribly for how hard he has worked and effort he's put in. Kamiki Seiryuu's words are worth noting, because he is being honest but encouraging, in his own "professional" way because Setsu truly did an amazing job and has a mercurial sound but needs to hone his playing BY performing more.

After I *emotionally* recover I'll be sure to read the manga because I NEED to know how it ends and if he truly is able to move forward because perhaps...that would help me to as well....?

¿Ha sido tanto el impacto que hasta he perdido la noción del tiempo? ¿O es que el maldito olor a mandarina del aromatizante que usan en el baño ya me está dejando estúpida...?

Cualquiera sea el caso, sigo sin superar el final de Mashiro no oto... Empiezo a preocuparme.

Lo último que recuerdo me ha causado tal impacto fue el final de Voltron, ¡FINAL HORRIBLE, POR CIERTO! Aunque sí fue un final... Lo que vivo ahora es, más que un final abierto, una masacre emocional.

Ni siquiera es que haya encariñado tanto con el protagonista. Aunque Setsu sí necesita de muchos abrazos.

Ahh~ mi pobre niño ywy 💔

Y aunque sus padres son la más perfecta descripción de escoria, tenemos a un familiar que sí vale la pena mencionar:

Wakana nii-chan, como te amo 💕

Que parezca de 30 cuando no tiene ni 20 es un chiste recurrente, pero es el hermano mayor que siempre quise. Cuida de Setsu a su manera, sin ser invasivo o atormentarlo con sermones asfixiantes una y otra vez.

Quizá sí fue un poco permisivo o ¿conformista? al dejar que Setsu se fuera solo a Tokio teniendo apenas 16 años. Pero tampoco habría podido hacerlo cambiar de opinión.

Que Hosoya sea su seiyuu no tiene nada que ver en el asunto, claro que no. Obviamente no (?)

O que AMBOS HABLEN CON ACENTO

Loved this one, and the opening theme did not have to go that hard, but it did.

Even if you don't want to watch the series, this opening is worth a listen. Instant ear-gasm.
