Back in 2016, when I was in my last months of middle school, I decided to give an anime named “Shokugeki no Soma” a shot and I had not slightest idea just how much of an impact that decision would end up having on my life. 

Guys, I won’t lie...The anime ending just hit a lot different. While I switched to manga after having watched through Season 1...The anime was still what began this journey for me after all. 

Shokugeki no Soma is far from perfect but I still so very deeply love it in the end. People who have known me for a while also know that I’ve been ranting on and on about several things and that I’m not the biggest fan of the last arc, but ultimately...Despite all my complains and all of my sulking, I still hold this series very close to my heart. 

Shokugeki’s been with me for 4 years. That’s insane. 

I normally loose interest in things...rather quickly actually. Before Shokugeki, I fandom-hopped a lot and only lasted a few months or so maybe in different fandoms. I cannot exactly pinpoint what it is about this series that just got me so hooked and attached, but well. It happened. And now here we are. 

As I said, I began to watch Shokugeki just a couple for so months before my graduation from middle school. I was actually rather underwhelmed with it’s first episode and I didn’t really wanted to continue watching, until Soma served his Pork Roast! Just Kidding!, which looked so incredibly delicious to me that ultimately I decided to give Episode 2 a chance. The rest is history. 

The series sticked to my side throughout all of highschool. In one of these year something would happen that was incredibly hard for me to deal with and Shokugeki was what distracted me. The manga came to an end closely after I graduated from highschool and that time as quite frankly been one of the best of my life and just being a part of this community had a big play in that. 

This is also something I’d like to address: The community. Never ever have I felt to have a part in a fandom community, like I did in the Shokugeki Fandom. I gathered a following unlike any other before, I organized Fandom events and participated in some. I met some through and through amazing people within this fanbase, that I wouldn’t want missing from my life today. It’s the first time I feel seen in a fandom. I’ve also come across a variety of fantastic fan work and it’s all just so ah...Beautiful. 

Finally, there’s also my Next Gen Fanfiction, that’s been in writing for 4 years now and is ultimately still in the beginning. The characters I’ve crafted for this story have become very dear to me and I’ve been developing them for such a long time now. Never before have I been this dedicated to a story and it’s a good feeling. I truly feel like finishing this monstrous project I build in my head and telling the stories of the characters I came up with. If there has been one dream I’ve had for all my life, it’s to write a book someday. And seeing people enjoy this little fanfiction of mine makes me believe that my dream might become true someday! 

All in all, although Shokugeki made me unhappy from time to time....The positives I associate with this series do overweight. Massively. And I would not trade the enchantment and the memories I’ve gotten out of this series for anything.

5. Who says ‘I love you’ first?

So Marui, being Marui, overthought and over-planned how he was going to say it, writing drafts upon drafts of love confessions and finding none of them good enough. And one day, while he’s still agonizing over the details, Yuki sees that he made her a snack and she’s just like “This is why I love you, specs” and it shocks the soul out of his body.  

7. What do they get up to on a night out?

They would probably go to a museum, and then after that get drinks and snacks go for a walk. 

12. What first changes when it starts getting serious? 

The first time, when they were in high school, it was when Yuki started sleeping in his room. Nothing really happened, but they would just cuddle all night, and she’d let the animals she’s raising take over her own bed. Once Yuki started sleeping over, all the Polar Star kids began to leave Marui’s room at a reasonable hour (because a cranky and sleep deprived Yoshino Yuki is not something anyone wants to deal with). 

The second time, when they’re in their late-ish twenties, it’s a lot less subtle. He quietly breaks off his engagement to another woman, and she starts making plans to move from New York City back to Tokyo, and then they’re married in a matter of months. 

17. When they find a time machine, where do they go? Probably to Versailles, at the court of Louis XIV. Yuki would love all the splendor and fancy clothes, and Marui would remain as weak to her whims and wishes as ever.

I hope I understood this correctly and that it’s about the two becoming parents for the first time ovo;; If you meant something else, I am sorry that I misunderstood ; 7 ;

Zenji read trillions of advisory books for parents about education and such from the moment on where Yuki told him she’s pregnant. He !! wants to be !! prepared!!

No day passes in which Yuki isn’t taking at least one photo of her baby. Her phone is overloaded with baby-pictures who she gladly sends them around to her Friends. Plus Zenji when he’s at work.

Yuki buys all the toys, Zenji buys the educational stuff

Sometimes Yuki legit catches Zenji reading Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” or other (not all-too violent) classics to the baby and she just shakes her head and is like: “Are you for real?”

When meeting up with friends during the time in which their child is an infant they either won’t stop gushing or become even more whiney than they usually are because they haven’t slept in days. 

Yuki gives the most raspberries, most definitely. 

Shun and Zenji actually watched all children shows they could find and like....critiqued them and judged them over being worthy enough for their children. They made a huge lists of what their children can watch and of what is too stupid for them. They take it very serious. Ryoko and Yuki not so much.

So this is finally finished at...what 2 am? After I had the sketch done yesterday already...But yeah. 

Since I’m already onto showing off the Spotify Playlists of my fankids, I thought I could also show off the ones I have for my two main OTPs. So...have the first one ig? A little Playlist for MarYu?

It’s really just songs that make me think of them or that others have recommended to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve been collecting songs for them ever since 2016. 

I really don’t have much of a talent for playlists relating to ships ahdhd like...at all ovo;; But it’s still fun and I liked the idea of doing a little illustration next to the playlist!

A Spoonful of Affection - 1

MarYu [Zenji Marui x Yuki Yoshino] - Zenji being blind for his need for a break.

On the sixth night on which Zenji Marui once again missed Polar Star‘s much beloved movie night, Yuki Yoshino had enough.

Uncharacteristically punctual she stood in front of his door at 7 pm, both hands on her hips and green eyes full with the fiery determination to get him out of his cave at last. 

After a few impatient knocks of her‘s, the young man finally opened his door and to simply say that he looked tired would not come close to the image Yuki had in-front of her. He looked like having one foot in the afterlife already. 

“Yoshino?” Zenji questioned weakly. “I’m here to get you to movie night.” Yuki declared sharply. 

Zenji slowly blinked before he began a hoarse attempt of protest while messaging his temples. “But I still have to finish-“ “No.” Yuki stopped him. “You’ve been studying non-stop lately, Marui. You need a break.” 

She leaned a tad bit forwards and continued. “I rented a historic Drama even. Just for you. The others will have to deal with that for today, but...” While so far she had done such a good job of maintaining a stern, unyielding voice, she heard herself getting softer when saying. “Please Marui. You can’t lock yourself in here twentyfour-seven without getting any distraction whatsoever.” 

Zenji looked stunned and like he was wrestling for words. Finally a defeated sigh was pushed out of him. Because how could he say no to a historic drama and those angelic, radiant, green eyes? 

“...Alright, you won me over Yoshino.” To not let her get too smug over it, he quickly added. “But only for tonight!”

Author’s Note: I’m starting this “A Spoonful of Affection”-Series as a little means for practice. It’ll be a series consisting of short, shippy drabbles for various ships in Shokugeki. My current plan is to write one everyday but lol, let’s see how long I can last. 

But yeah, as I said...this is just a bit of me just wanting to practice a little 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 Hopefully, there’ll be some others who can find some enjoyment in this as well.

Happy Single-Awareness Da Valentines 2020 ; 7 ; 

I still managed to make it on time within my timezone, y a y (I was loosing hope)

It took me half the day to come up with something to draw being honest, this sugary-fluff is the best I can do. The other half was dedicated to the pose in the second picture //lies down//

Since the Valentine’s Day is coming soon, I want to know opinion. Who do you think could be the first one to give his crash a present and therefore confess his(her) feelings?(regarding your central and (or) polar star ships)

Sorry for the late answer anon ;w; Also hm, do you talk about a gift specifically on Valentines? As far as I know, in Japan only the girls gift chocolate on Valentines (they gift giri-choco to friends and family, so this is chocolate that comes more with friendly intent and has no romantic intention behind it. Then there’s honmei-choco, which is the chocolate that the girl gifts to whoever they truly have romantic feelings for) while men give their gifts on White Day (that’s in March). Maybe you already knew this but I suppose you want the ask Valentine-themed, so I am going to stick to this. 

The Central Kiddos 

EiRin - Can we just think for a second about the fact how it’s pretty much canonically confirmed that Eishi is the only person who can handle Rindou’s Valentine Chocolate? Hm, I can honestly picture both making the first step being honest…But I really like the idea of Rindou going full-out in making a honmei-choco for him and giving it to him with the brightest grin ever and Eishi needing 5 minutes to connect the dots that it’s honmei-choco. (Everyone else gets chocolate-covered lizards, Eishi gets a chocolate-covered crocodile okay ahdhd maybe not idk)

SoMomo - *slams fist on the table* Okay, but Momo is a patisserie. Valentine’s Day is her day to ✨ shine ✨. Momo has always been super impressive with her giri-choco actually and all her admirers on Instagram have already made up the wildest theories on what the Queen of Sweets would come up with once it’s her day to actually gift a honmei-choco. Well one day a completely overblown Somei gets one of the truly most carefully crafted and bedazzling chocolate that someone could imagine from Momo, alongside a speech how he should feel honored to be the person she, the great Momo Akanagekubo, would finally dedicate her honmei-choco to…honestly she’s actually just really flustered and nervous and tries to hide it with haughtiness. 

EtsuNe - So I don’t think that Etsuya cares a great deal about Valentines-Anything, except how much you can exploit it for cash. (Like any other holiday, Valentines is great for commercialization in the end). So some jaws certainly hung low, when Etsuya “I am too tough for lovey-dovey-bullshit” Eizan actually gifts someone on White Day. And well it’s Nene, who’s definitely more than surprised as well. She is stunned. Etsuya grumbles stuff about how the chocolate he gave her on Valentines (giri-choco btw) was “pretty good” and other excuses. Anyways, next year he’s going to receive honmei-choco from Nene.

SoRina (ig that counts) - Honestly, I can just really well picture these two constantly gifting each other the best, possible chocolate they came up with and making a competition out of it, not really acknowledging that they lowkey keep on confessing their love to each other but rather acting like they just want to overtrump the other. 

ShuYoko - Headcanon that Shun is always offered quite a few honmei-chocos on Valentines, by some lovestruck girls from middle school and also a few from his year over the years. However he always says something along the lines “I’m sorry, I can’t accept that” because he really doesn’t want them to live in some sort of false love. However on one particular Valentines it’s Ryoko who approaches him with chocolate that’s significantly different from the ones she gave to the other male dormmates and with a heavy blush on her face and….Shun is speechless for a while. But it’s the first honmei-choco he accepts. 

MarYu - Honestly I can kind off see, Zenji trying his damn hardest to include little hints that Yuki is special to him in the chocolate he gifts her to White Day. At the same time, he does still panic about her possible reaction and always ends up making the hint rather subtle. So Yuki just never gets the hint and just embraces him with laughter and a “thank you” while he’s internally dying. One White Day, a very frustrated Ryoko though will actually not be able to contain it any longer and be like “omg Yuki, don’t you see that Marui is always giving you slightly alternated chocolate than the one he gifts to me and Megumi?” And the scales fall of Yuki’s eyes. She immediately flusters as she realizes how flattered this makes her feel.
