Traditional Neon Signs
Neon signage is like sweet candy treats for the eyes. This amazing hand crafted medium has captivated, excited, motioned and promoted everything from cafes, coffee shops, cinemas, car dealerships to the seedy underbellies and back streets of Sydney’s nightlife. Developed by Claude Neon in 1923 this beautiful creation took hold, quickly becoming a fixture in outdoor advertising.

Navigating Through Covid19 With Safety
Tumblr media
Dear Valued clients,
We are all working in a very difficult time , and the safety and well-being of our clients and staff remains our number 1 priority. Keeping our vehicles clean has always been a priority , but we have stepped up our protocols and are doing everything we can to make sure you feel safe travelling with Marquee Limousines.
Coronavirus is having a major impact on travel related business worldwide and we are at the forefront of this. Some facts regarding COVID-19:
The most common way to get COVID-19 is by inhaling respiratory droplets in the air. When a person with COVID-19 coughs and sneezes, tiny droplets leave their mouth and nose and go into the air. You can’t see the droplets. If you’re within 6 feet of that person, you may breathe in those droplets, but you wont even know you’ve done it. But by doing that, you may get the germs that cause COVID-19 in your body.
COVID-19 also can be shared if you touch a surface an infected person has touched. Some examples include door handles, elevator buttons and shopping carts. The germs can get into your body if you then touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
COVID-19 compared to influenza. – Around the world, more than 100,000 people so far have had COVID-19. In comparison, at least 22 million people in the US have had influenza this season.
Some things to consider; It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and nervous when thinking about COVID-19. Here are some steps we can all take.
Wash your hands frequently. This will help get rid of the viruses and other germs on your hands. If you’re not near soap and water, then hand sanitizer that contains between 60% and 95% Alcohol.
DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE – especially your eyes, nose and mouth. These are the locations where a virus can enter your body.
Surgical masks are NOT effective at protecting wearers from respiratory illness like COVID-19 The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention DOES NOT RECOMMEND wearing surgical masks.
Here are some steps Marquee Limousines have taken to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff.
We have hand sanitizer available in all our vehicles
We also have wipes available. Our Chauffeurs wipe down door handles, seat belts and seats before passengers travel in our vehicles.
Vehicles are sprayed regularly with disinfectant spray.
Chauffeurs are also following all personal hygiene protocols.
In addition, we are taking every possible step to make sure you feel safe travelling in one of our vehicles. There are also a number of options that Marquee can provide in order to give you peace of mind while maintaining your travel and business plans.
If your planning to travel between SYD and Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane around Auckland, around the north island of NZ, or vice versa, rather than flying this can be done in one our luxury vehicles. You and your business might even be thinking of safer means of transport to go between home and the office, whatever your requirements are, there is no job too big or small that we can’t handle. We’re even going the extra step and reducing our rates for these types of transfers and jobs, we are reducing the cost of having vehicles on hold whilst you attend business meetings around town and having the chauffeur waiting to take you to your next destination. Our number one priority is your safety. Feel free to contact me directly to discuss how i can help you, and your business travel needs.
Kind regards, Tony and the Marquee Team +61 2 9695 7371 - Sydney +64 9 884 1200 - Auckland

After 9 years on this path together, Whak has made the decision to step back from touring and pursue his own career in songwriting and producing outside of the band. Whakaio loved and came alive in the creative process; it was a pleasure and privilege to witness. We know his heart and gifts belong in the studio and we continue to love and support each other as a family. The four of us consider ourselves to be 1 part of a greater whole, and will always hold a place for our brother and best friend, whose energy will be known, heard and felt for lifetimes.

Man Utd tour: Is Australia's A-League about to take off?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
12,000 fans paid for tickets to watch Manchester United’s open training session in Perth
Perth Glory have taken a risk by agreeing to play Manchester United at their Optus Stadium on Saturday night.
The A-League Grand Finalists will be without a number of key players, including former Republic of Ireland striker Andy Keogh, when they provide opposition for the touring Premier League giants, as Australia’s domestic campaign doesn’t start until October.
Two 15-year-olds, midfielder Joshua Rawlins and striker Gabriel Popovic, son of Glory manager Tony, are likely to be involved in the friendly against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
But Glory owner Tony Sage was never going to turn down the game. Almost 60,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday’s game. In 2018-19, across their entire 14-game regular home A-League programme, Glory’s total attendance was 144,955.
As with their meeting with Chelsea 12 months ago, facing United offers exposure that does not exist in the A-League and offers an opportunity for Sage to put forth his ambitious plans for the league’s future.
Premier League model may provide A-League spark
Sage is one of the key figures in Australian domestic football.
The 59-year-old says it is “100% accurate” that, since it was launched in 2005, the A-League has failed to establish the same kind of footprint in a market dominated by traditional sports as Major League Soccer has managed in the United States.
Average regular-season A-League attendances have fallen from a 2008 high of 14,610 to 10,411 last season. Despite signing Usain Bolt at one stage, Central Coast Mariners attracted just 3,703 fans to their game against New Zealand side Wellington Phoenix on 9 March.
However, Sage believes a decision earlier this month, due to be ratified on 1 August, gives genuine reason for optimism.
Football Federation Australia, the game’s governing body, has agreed to hand over control of the A-League to the clubs, in a move similar to the one that launched the Premier League in England in 1992.
“You are about to see an explosion in the professional game,” said Sage. “Under the FFA system, because they have so many aspects of the game to deal with, A-League clubs only ended up with 30% of the money they generated.
“When the split is confirmed, we estimate A$80m [about £45m] will come to the clubs that can be used to promote the game, through marquee players like they do in MLS.”
Former Ireland striker Andy Keogh, who plays for Perth, with Glory head coach and ex-Australia defender Tony Popovic
Multi-national expansion plans
For the past seven seasons, since Western Sydney Wanderers replaced Gold Coast United, the A-League has been a 10-team league.
In December it was announced that two more teams, from west Melbourne and south-west Sydney, would be introduced from 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively. The FFA also said further expansion was on the agenda. In a recent fans’ poll,Canberra, Tasmania and Wollongong were the only areas that drew significant support for a new club.
Sage has a much wider vision. New Zealand side Wellington – technically not even from the same Confederation after Australia were affiliated to the Asian Confederation (AFC) in 2006 – play in the A-League, so why not introduce teams from other countries whose own domestic competitions are weak?
He said: “I don’t see the expansion of the A-League as being through Australian cities, because we are saturated at the moment.
“But if we had one team in Jakarta, one in Manila, one in Kuala Lumpur and one in Singapore, that is expanding your potential audience by 400 million people. That would drive TV revenues up – then, maybe, we would be looking at A$1bn [£560m] instead of A$400m.
“It works perfectly in terms of time zones. And the rivalries between those cities already exist.
“It wouldn’t happen immediately but in 10 years’ time, my vision may come to fruition.”
The obvious flaw in Sage’s plan, beyond gaining Fifa approval for a cross-border competition, is the travel time. He calls it a “non-issue”. It may be true for Perth, given the flying distance to Singapore is only 400 miles greater than it is to Sydney. It certainly isn’t for Wellington. They would face a near 5,500-mile trip to reach Kuala Lumpur, which a slightly greater distance than London to Los Angeles.
The battle for recognition
Australian rules side West Coast Eagles play their home games at the Optus stadium
The other issue for the game in Australia is the strength of the competition. In New South Wales and Queensland, rugby league is king. In Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia, Australian rules football dominates. Rugby union offers a popular international dimension Aussie rules lacks, while cricket captures attention across the whole country.
Yet, even among long-established sports fans, soccer has reason to be optimistic.
Richard Moody owns the Hill Street Sports Bar in east Perth. On Thursday evening, the place was fairly full as punters watched Australia’s ultimately doomed Cricket World Cup semi-final against England.
“Soccer will grow because of the international spread of the game,” he said. “Slowly, Australia, and Perth in particular, is edging into the rest of the world and youngsters in particular have a knowledge of the game people of my generation didn’t have when we were kids.
“Domestically, everyone in this city knows who Perth Glory are and while AFL fans don’t tend to watch in bars in great numbers, when Premier League games are on, we are always busy.”
Not that a shift in the Australian sporting landscape can be expected any time soon.
David Steel, an AFL fan for 50 years, and part of a 56,251 crowd at the Optus Stadium on Friday to see Collingwood edge West Coast Eagles 78-77 in a thrilling Grand Final rematch, doesn’t envisage one.
“I can’t see soccer ever taking over,” he said. “It is growing a little bit but it will never reach the status AFL has. It just doesn’t have the same traditional rivalries.”

Japanese Film Festival 2019 Program Lands Across Aus
Tumblr media
“We can’t wait to see what next year has in store for Japanese cinema!”
The Japanese Film Festival, boasting one-off screenings and Festival showings throughout the country, will soon enjoy week-plus runs in Sydney and Melbourne. With the stretches boasting a wide selection of Japanese cinema, segments of which have already or will soon play in different cities including Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, the Festival’s Anna Lee sat down to chat the marquee program and all things JFF 2019.
“I believe there are a number of recent trends in Japanese cinema that you can see reflected in this year’s Festival program,” said Lee. “Female directors are gaining more and more visibility in Japan, and we have the honour of having ‘Blue Hour’ director Yuko Hakota as a guest in Sydney for a Q&A.”
“’Blue Hour’ is her first feature film, and Hakota has already won a number of awards, including Shanghai International Film Festival’s Asian New Talent Award for Best Director. Along with this, we’re also seeing stories that aren’t often given a chance in the spotlight taking centre stage in this year’s film selection, such as ‘My Father, the Bride’ (directed by Momoko Fukuda), which features a girl struggling with accepting the fact that her father wants to marry a man and become a bride.”
This year’s JFF features a mix of comedy, live-action, dramas and period films, including ‘Samurai Shifters’ where bookish Samurai Katagiri has to convince his entire town to Marie Kondo and relocate across the water on a very tight budget. #JFF2019 will also host a number of animations; long a staple of the Festival.
“Japan is certainly known for its animated feature films, and for JFF we focus on selecting films that an Australian audience would likely not get a chance to see in cinemas otherwise,” said Lee. “The widespread success of the Japanese animated film ‘Your Name’ (2016) also increased interest in Japanese animation and film at an international level; boosting revenue for feature films in Japan in the years since.”
“’Ride Your Wave’ and ‘Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire’ are both related to films that screened as part of JFF 2018. ‘Ride Your Wave’ is ‘Night is Short, Walk on Girl’ Director Masaaki Yuasa’s latest film, while ‘Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire’ is the 23rd feature film in the Detective Conan series… it is the first Detective Conan film to be directed by a woman, Tomoka Nagaoka, and also the first in the series to be set outside of Japan, with Conan’s latest mystery taking him all the way to Singapore…‘Ride Your Wave’ features Masaaki Yuasa’s signature vivid animation style in a slightly less psychedelic narrative compared to his previous works; he’s known for never really doing the same thing twice.”

Useful Tips to Find a Gazebo for Sale in Australia
You have made a great choice in deciding to buy gazebos in Australia for your business or your home. They are indeed very useful and versatile because they can provide instant shade and weather protection whenever necessary. If you want to invest in a high-quality gazebo but are worried about costs, relax. These products need not be super expensive. You can purchase high-quality gazebos for sale at great prices from leading suppliers of ez up tents and marquees in Australia. They offer standard and custom products based on your preferences and needs. Here are some tips on getting the best value as you shop for an instant gazebo.
Contact the supplier directly
The best and easiest way to find out whether a supplier can offer affordable gazebos for sale is to call them directly on their hotline. During your call, you can also inquire about any accessories and customisations that they offer. You can likewise visit their website and download their product brochure to assess the options. For example, you can go to DuraMarq.com.au and see all the details you need to know about the particular gazebo you are interested in. Simply click a button to request a quotation.
Find out if they can provide optional upgrades
The weather in Australia can be very unforgiving, and the heat of the sun or the pounding of the rain can easily ruin a cheap gazebo. This is why it’s more practical, and cheaper in the long run, to invest in a commercial-grade gazebo to begin with. Ask the supplier if they offer upgrades on the materials that they use. It’s often worth it to choose better materials if you want your gazebo to stand up to in adverse weathers.
Request for a catalogue of all their products
You can evaluate the items offered by a supplier by asking for a catalogue or a list of all their models. Review the features and benefits for each model and contact them to discuss in detail their recommendation, based on your requirements, for the best gazebo for sale.
They should deliver to your home
Ask the supplier if they deliver products across Australia like in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and more.

Crows lock away AFLW stars to new deals
Ebony Marinoff celebrates the 2017 premiership success
ADELAIDE has locked away NAB AFLW stars Ebony Marinoff and Courtney Cramey in its latest batch of re-signings for next season.
Marinoff and Cramey were named in the Virgin Australia AFLW All Australian team and Marinoff also won the NAB AFLW Rising Star award.
The inaugural premiers have now secured 20 members from the list that took all before them in this year’s AFLW season. Coach Bec Goddard is set to join them in the coming days.
AFLW rules allow clubs to re-sign up to 22 members from the 2017 season during the signing and trade period, which ends on Friday.
A free agency period follows that enables unsigned players involved in the first AFLW season to join another club. Players who are still unsigned can nominate for the October 18 draft.
League best and fairest Erin Phillips, her co-captain Chelsea Randall and cult forward Sarah Perkins had already re-committed for the South Australian-Northern Territorian combine side.
South Australian-based Jenna McCormick, Talia Radan, Anne Hatchard, Dayna Cox, Jess Sedunary, Justine Mules, Rhiannon Metcalfe, Rachael Killian, Deni Varnhagen, Georgia Bevan and Sarah Allan are also coming back.
As are four members of Adelaide’s Darwin crew: vice-captains Ange Foley and Sally Riley, as well as Abbey Holmes and Stevie-Lee Thompson. NT teenager Tayla Thorn did not score a contract, but the Crows are expected to pick her back up in the rookie draft.
Kellie Gibson, a marquee player last season, has already indicated her preference to return home to Western Australia and play for Fremantle.
Adelaide general manager of football administration Phil Harper said the club was delighted to re-sign the bulk of its history making list.
“During the first season, our aim was to build a great culture within the team,” Harper said.
“It’s great to see our players eager to re-commit and build on what we achieved in 2017.”
The Crows opted not to re-sign injured trio Heather Anderson (shoulder), Monique Hollick (finger) and Sophie Armitstead (knee), but they are eligible to be re-drafted in October.
Untried duo Lauren O’Shea and Jasmine Anderson, both from Darwin, were also not offered a contract.
Anderson re-injured her right shoulder in the Grand Final triumph over the Brisbane Lions in March and had a second shoulder reconstruction, plus a bone graft, early last month.
The top-10 draft pick remains in Canberra recovering from her injury and will return to the Top End soon.
A surgeon told Anderson during her last shoulder recovery – which saw 13 months pass between her playing games – that a recurrence may end her career as a Defence Force medic.
But AFL.com.au understands the soon-to-be 23-year-old wants to continue her AFLW career, even if injury rules her out for the 2018 campaign.
AFLW squads will next season include 30 players, with 27 on the senior list and three rookies.
Rookies must be under 21 years of age on January 1, 2018 or not have played Australian football or been part of an AFL high-performance program in the three years prior to May 1, 2017.
