The story of John Lennon's last day.

John Lennon said he would send them a white feather. NEW EPISODE: Episode 28:  It should’ve been a great day.  It started off with a great photo session with Annie Leibovitz and eventually led to a productive night in the recording studio.  But the night would take a tragic turn as they headed home for the evening.  Many believe the image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, as they appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, was the very last image ever taken of the singer.  But there were a few other photos taken that night.  They were snapped by a fan.  And one of those photos contained the face of Lennon’s killer. This is the twenty-eighth episode in a series of episodes that’ll drop every Saturday throughout 2024.  Visit the full video here:

Not all cousins from the Mayflower can be winners

Found out I was a Mayflower descendant of a William White who was my 10th Great Grand-father, or 12 generations ago ancestor.

Other descendants are my 9th cousin Humphrey Bogart (twice removed), 10th cousin George Hamilton (once removed), 12th cousin Jordana Brewster (once removed) and Mark David Chapman, my 9th cousin Mark David Chapman, the, damn it, killer of John Lennon.

They can’t all be winners.

The Murder of John Lennon

The Dakota apartment building in New York is an icon in the city, originally built in 1884 across from Central Park. It was the stomping ground of countless celebrities, including Boris Karloff, Judy Garland, Gilda Radner, and Lauren Bacall. It was even used as a location for the horror film Rosemary’s Baby. 

John Lennon was one of the famous residents, who lived there starting in 1973 with wife Yoko Ono and son Sean. He frequently greeted fans, signing autographs before entering the building. 

It was here in 1980 that Mark David Chapman, a man who had traveled from Hawaii after reading The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. Chapman identified with the main character Holden Caufield and sought to destroy Lennon, who he considered a “phony.” 

Lennon was coming home from a recording session when Chapman shot him in the back four times. Lennon died at the hospital at age 40. His ashes were later scattered across the street at Strawberry Fields where a memorial is now located. Ono still lives in The Dakota. 

Chapman remained at the scene of the crime, where he was quickly arrested. During his trial, his defense team claimed he had a number of mental health issues. From 1981 to 2012, he was imprisoned at Attica before being transferred to Wende Correctional Facility. Every one of his appeals for parole has been denied. 

Lennon’s impact is still felt decades later as fans come from all over the world to pay their respects at his favorite spot in Central Park.
