I KNEW IT WAS YOU!!! It was either you or Ghost who wrote THIS Masterpiece! And I bothered my friends for HOURS because Unravel gave so so much feeling man you CANNOT imagine!! Two idiots in love with each other and that walking Sexy disaster known as Trazyn. (I read that over and over again and there is NO WAY Imotekh isn't in love with Trazyn too 🥹🥹 God that is SUCH a masterpiece.
Orikan's desperation to be loved and be a part of a family while loving someone is so terrifying to them they hate him too as well as whatever he feels for Imotekh...he is SUCH a stubborn mess. I wonder what happened to those 3 pairs of eyes he worked hard to support...
Imotekh just got the short end of the stick. Love turn to hate yet not completely but the effects of their mutual fuck ups also twisted him into a worse version of himself in so many ways. His contradictiry thoughts at times shows how much he is STILL conflicted about...everything. while also continuing to lie to himself about many many things. Wonder what would have happened if he went with Trazyn dragging Orikan kicking and screaming...maybe they'd get the therapy they so deserve. Sennet is probably good at that.
And Trazyn himself...not gonna lie I wonder how he would feel if he remembered everything as Imotekh does...a good deal more depressed I imagine..looking at Solamnace now it is obvious many parts of his family is dead. And while he was having the time of his like in Sautekh dynasty the bonds he created there with tbese two...damn dude gave you guys literal rings how open could he get???? I wonder what would it be like if they took him on his offer. Wouldn't be easy and Orikan would need good GOOD kick in the feels to start reflecting on himself but they could have been the strongest polyamory the universe has ever seen!
I hope you'll write more about these guys! Would be amazing to see a proper necrontyr Orizyn from you ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! This ask actually came on the 1st; I was saving it until I was done with the fic post reblogs. A very happy new year to you, anon 💖🎄
Canon seems to be marking Trazyn out as a surprisingly well-adjusted person for WH40K standards (I'm aware that bar is at the bottom of the ocean, but still), someone who's principled, if light-years distant from social acceptance. It seemed natural that our disaster couple would be drawn to his stability, if only to learn from him how to make each other so much worse 🙃
Imotekh certainly felt comforted by Trazyn. Whether he could've felt for Trazyn the same passionate love/obsession he felt for Orikan is up for debate, but I think Imotekh could've learned to survive in Gheden with him, and it wouldn't have been as painful as Orikan tried to convince him it would be. He's willing to seal off his acts of love towards Orikan in Trazyn's name, after all, there is an element to which Imotekh sees in Trazyn a lover. Not necessarily a fellow lover, but not necessarily an enemy. A triangulating force that Imotekh feels he and Orikan need to conquer, or else perish... and they did not conquer Trazyn, no sir, the dude barely even knew all this was going on 😩
By the time of biotransference the three pairs of young eyes were no longer young. Saved them from becoming warrior-drones in the conversion, but the life of a necrontyr is already brutal as it is. Chances are that Orikan's siblings did not outlive him - I haven't thought about it much, I admit - and honestly, that may not have been the worst way to go, given the horrors of biotransference.
Ah yes, the rings. 💍 You'll note that Orikan has never worn his, though he still refused to let it go, and Trazyn remembered it enough to gild a homage to it at the end. I don't know if you're familiar with Anglo-Saxon literature (it's my specialty, I'm a medievalist), but there's a kenning meaning 'king/lord' ('beaga bryttan') which literally translates to 'ring-giver'. That's the image I have of all noble/royal characters of older time periods (or inspired by history) - generous, doling out treasure and favours to their retainers, while fully expecting that loyalty to be repaid with their lives if it comes to that.
When Trazyn gave them those rings, he was expressing his adoration of them, while also anticipating either he or his dynasty would have a use for them in the future. It's a contract as well as a gift. If they'd gone through with this throuple successfully, they'd have ended up yielding a lot of control to Trazyn - perhaps for the best, perhaps for the worst, since they'd have been subject to the whims of the Nihilakh Dynasty or Trazyn himself for however long that went on. Nothing is only good or only bad forever. It is a loss of great potential, nonetheless, that Orikan was so utterly unwilling to put in any work to salvage this triad 🤧
I do think the 'how much do they remember' problem is something I could've done a better job of. Trazyn and Orikan remember way too much here compared to their I&D depictions, I fear some of their aspects veer off into OOC territory by the end. That's something I need to work on a bit more, but in the meanwhile I'm glad people enjoyed it all the same 💖

What Your Kids Really Think of Your Favorite ‘90s and ‘00s Shows
The cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1991 Mark Sennet/Getty Images One of the many excellent things about living in the age of streaming is that all the great, classic shows we grew up with are just a few taps away, 24/7. It’s why a whole generation of teens and tweens can now quote Chandler Bing one-liners as flawlessly as their parents. But it’s hard to shake the nagging feeling. You probably…

𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙿𝚘𝚎𝚖 𝚘𝚏 𝙱𝚎𝚐𝚒𝚗𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 (𝙿𝚝 𝟺)
Later that evening the group are on the roof of the doctor's house with a table full of food and barrels of booze. Elizabeth remains laying down.
"All right Elizabeth. time for me to officially introduce you" Meliodas says, lifting his hand to Ban who is sitting on top of a barrel and now wearing red leather, which the top is too small for him. Y/N sits against the barrel, bandages and gauze around her chest and back, her coat wrapped around her shoulders "This is Ban, he's the Fox Sin of Greed"
"Hey, don't bother getting up," Ban says. Meliodas finally notices Ban's new outfit.
"Whoa, where did you get that new suit?" He asks.
"I can't parade around naked in front of a princess, like Y/N here can you know" Y/N flips Ban off, without looking up at him.
"How did you buy close without any money?" Meliodas asks. Diane, whose head is peeking over the roofs, rolls her eyes and leans on her hand, knowing the answer.
"I stumble across them. It was a total fluke!" Ban explains. Y/N rolls her eyes playfully. "So yeah, haven't seen you in a while Diane" Diane moves her head to the side, closing her eyes.
"I'd been perfectly happy to go 100 years without seeing you again," Diane says as Ban gets off the barrel and begins walking over to Elizabeth.
"I'm Elizabeth. Please forgive me for not rising to greet you" Y/N laughs.
"Greet this ass? Don't bother" She jokes. Ban ignores her comment and smiles down at the princess
"Not at all, Highness. Our order doesn't stand on ceremony" Ban places a hand on his chest and bows "So let's just be friends, the five of us"
"Didn't know he had manners" Y/N mutters "Man that prison did wonders to him?" She says, now sitting on top of the barrel.
"You mean the six of us?" Hawk says. Ban straights back up, looking at Meliodas and smiling.
"Ugh, Lieutenant, you need glasses? There's five of us here?" Ban says.
"My voice isn't that squeaky, ass," Y/N says.
"There are six of us!" Hawk says "Are you sure you haven't got a couple of screws loose?"
"Eh?" Ban questions "Who said that?"
"I did?" Ban looks down at Hawk, his eyes showing nothing until he jumps up in surprise.
"There's a talking pig here?!" He jumps back from Hawk.
"You're just noticing that!" Hawk shouts.
"Leave him be, he's slow" Y/N jokes.
"Oh, no way! A pig talking like a person? That is more than I can handle man" Ban says "Hold on? That's it, your King, right? Of course, you cursed and turned into an actual pig" Ban looks to Y/N "Your boyfriend turned into a pig! Haha! How hilarious!"
"He's not my boyfriend!" Y/N shouts, crossing her arms and turning her head away from him.
"Guess again," Diane says.
"I heard that King's dead, at least that's the rumour," Meliodas says.
"Uhh, sorry to hear about that Y/N," Ban says, slightly amused. Y/N's eye twitches, cracking her neck to face him, an irk mark on her head.
"I will end you" She says.
"I'm warning you now, I'm no ordinary pig. I'm Sir Hawk, captain of the Order of Scraps Disposal!"
"Wow! I've never heard of that order before!"
"Have you made your introductions?" The doctor laughs. Sennet holds a big plate of meat as the two smiles over at the group. "Come you need to eat up before your dinner gets cold" Meliodas, Ban, Hawk and Y/N stare at the table of food with wide eyes. Meliodas and Hawk begin to run to the table.
"Let's eat!" Ban begins to follow.
"Don't start without us, Captain!" Y/N gets up and rushes after them.
"You better not drink all my booze!" She says. Sennet walks over to Elizabeth and Diane, carrying the plate with the meat on the stick.
"And here's yours you two" Sennet looks up at Diane "Does it bother you to stand here by yourself?" Diane shakes her head.
"I'm just happy for the chance to be able to eat with everybody for a change" The rest of the night is filled with laughter and jokes. Ban and Y/N have constant drinking competition, Meliodas feeding fruit to Elizabeth then to Diane timidly and Hawk eating a crap tonne. Ban jumps onto Hawk's back and Hawk runs away with him on his back all while Y/N chases them in her wolf form. Diane accidentally ate the top half of Meliodas and not the apple he offered her(Your gonna have to watch the episode to understand that, aha)
"Come on, don't hold out of me," Ban says, laying on top of Hawk as he tries to drag the heavy man "Please Captain Hawk, teach me what you know master"
"Can someone please get this guy off my back" Hawk says, struggling with the man?
"Ban, try not to overdo it okay," Diane says. Elizabeth smiles and looks at them.
"I kinda wish this could go on forever. But I guess that's not in the cards for us is it?"
"Hey, Princess?" Diane says. Elizabeth looks up at her "I don't know a lot about humans or the customs that humans have and I'm not that interested. However..." She trails off.
"However?" Elizabeth asks.
"I'm okay with the idea of fighting for you though. Cause honestly you were pretty badass today" Elizabeth suddenly sits up, shocked,
"Who me! Oh, no I didn't do anything"
"You did quite a lot, kid," Y/N says, crossing her arms. Elizabeth looks at her as Y/N nods then back up at Diane.
"You've got really strong power, you know. The power to move the hearts of both me, the Captain and the Lieutenants"
"But, Lady Diane..."
"By the way, Princess?" Diane asks.
"Would it be alright if I called you Elizabeth?" Diane asks, looking at Elizabeth sideways on. Elizabeth looks up at her with a smile.
"Yes!"
"Then don't worry about being formal with me either, okay" The two girls watch as Ban sits on the chimney and holds booze-up in one hand while the other is holding Hawks' tail who is trying to pull away with Meliodas standing on his back drinking booze and Y/N sat on top of Ban's shoulders and also drinking booze.
"I couldn't possibly"
"Hey, it's fine"
"A-All right" A star crosses the sky while Sennet is looking up.
"Ah, father! See that?" She asks. The doctor looks up to see a lot of starts crossing each other in the sky.
"Remarkable," He says "It's like a passage from one of Britannia's old fables" Everyone looks up at the sky, smiling. Y/N behind squished between Ban and Meliodas as she frowns up at the sky.
"When the streak of the shooting star across the same sky in the form of a cross, Britannia will face her darkest hour. This is a trial preordained since ancient times. And it will herald the beginning of a holy war between the guiding hands of the light and the bloodline of the darkness"

SCOTUS Declares A New Way To Execute Inmates Constitutional
By Lauren Barrouquere,  University of Louisiana at Lafayette Class of 2024
May 17, 2023
Tumblr media
The exact wording of the 8th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America is “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted,” [5]. Although it appears to be relatively cut-and-dry, the 8th Amendment has a long and muddy history in the United States, with a new court case emerging every few years over the apparent cruelty and “unusualness” of various facets of the justice system. Recently, an issue of this ilk has emerged and traveled its way up the Supreme Court.
Kenneth Eugene Smith is a 57-year-old inmate from Alabama [1]. He and an accomplice were sentenced to death in 1989 for a murder-for-hire scheme that resulted in the death of Elizabeth Sennett [1]. Smith was hired by Sennet’s husband, Christian Minister Charles Sennett to allegedly help collect a very large life insurance policy that was taken out on her [1]. Charles Sennett was deeply in debt and apparently hoped to offset that with the newly collected money, though a week after Smith was caught he killed himself [2]. Smith’s accomplice was also sentenced to death and executed in 2010 [1].
Kenneth Eugene Smith’s execution was botched after complications involving the intravenous drip of lethal injection drugs [1]. Apparently, the prison staff could not find a suitable vein to connect the second intravenous drip to the first, thus forcing Smith to suffer for hours through what his attorneys dubbed a “mock execution” [2].  This is the third execution Alabama has had issues with since 2018 [1].
Now, Smith has appealed to the Supreme Court, saying a second attempt by the state of Alabama to kill him by lethal injection would be a violation of his 8th Amendment rights after the first botched execution attempt [1]. Kenneth Eugene Smith pleaded with the courts- not to be taken off death row- but rather to die in a more humane manner, through nitrogen hypoxia [3]. Nitrogen hypoxia involves exposing the person to lethal gas which slowly deprives the body of oxygen, leading to a more “peaceful” death [4].  This method has been authorized in Alabama but has not been tested as a method with which to execute inmates [2].
Shockingly, on Monday, May 15th, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Smith, agreeing with a lower court’s ruling that would allow him to die using lethal gas rather than lethal injection [4].
This ruling stands in stark contrast to a similar case from 2019 out of Missouri, in which an inmate appealed asking to be allowed lethal gas instead of lethal injection due to a medical condition [4]. The Court ruled that an inmate is not “guaranteed a painless death” [4].
Though Smith’s case is not a challenge to the death penalty as a whole, perhaps it marks a change in the national sentiment towards the practice [1]. Of course, only time will tell.

A few people here have asked how big this fish is likely to get - and I can't give a definitive answer because Sphyraenidae isn't one of the families I know best - Barracudas range from 1.5 feet for Northern Sennets to 6.6 feet for Great Barracudas. Given the commonality of the species, markings, and the proportions of this fish, I think it's Sphyraena barracuda? Which is on the larger end.

Your daily reminder that there are few worse plant choices for a home aquarium than the Red Mangrove. These are a) immensely delicate and very easy to kill, b) need to grow above the water line and need additional humidity to thrive, and c) need inches to a foot of substrate even when young and d) will get huge. An average Red Mangrove will get up to 30 feet. A large one can get up to 90 feet. But before then, the roots will get incredibly large and have a high chance to break the glass in your aquarium.
There are faux mangrove root decorations which look the part and won't break your tank. I highly recommend them if you are looking for that mangrove sanctuary look.
