The couple had two children together - James and Marina - before Angus died on 26 December 2004, after several years of illness. Born on 25 December 1936, Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel; born 25 December 1936) is the only surviving granddaughter of George V and a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II through her father Prince George, Duke of Kent. Alexandra's mother was Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. At the time of her birth, she was sixth in the line of succession to the British throne; as of 2023, she is 57th.

On 24 April 1963, she married The Hon. Angus James Bruce Ogilvy, at Westminster Abbey. Angus Ogilvy declined the Queen's offer to be created an earl upon marriage, so their children carry no titles. Angus Ogilvy was knighted in 1988 (when Princess Alexandra assumed the style of The Hon. Lady Ogilvy).

Princess Alexandra and Angus Ogilvy had two children, James Robert Bruce Ogilvy (born 29 February 1964) and Marina Victoria Alexandra Ogilvy (born 31 July 1966) and four grandchildren: Flora Ogilvy (29), Alexander Ogilvy (27), Zenouska Mowatt (33) and Christian Mowatt (30).

Beginning in the late 1950s, Princess Alexandra carried out an extensive programme of engagements in support of the Queen, both in the United Kingdom and overseas. Taking part in roughly 120 engagements each year, Princess Alexandra was one of the most active members of the royal family. She made 110 engagements in 2012. However, in late June 2013, she cancelled her engagements due to arthritis.

Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel was born on 25 December 1936 at 3 Belgrave Square, London. Her parents are Prince George, Duke of Kent and Princess Marina Duchess of Kent. He was born exactly two weeks after his uncle King Edward VIII abdicated from the throne.

His father died in a plane crash in Caithness, Scotland, on 25 August 1942, while serving in the Royal Air Force. So when she married Angus Ogilvy on April 24 1963 she was escorted down the aisle at Westminster Abbey by her brother, Prince Edward, The Duke of Kent. From his marriage she has two children, namely James and Marina Ogilvy.

Throughout her life she dedicated herself to helping the Queen, who was her cousin, work, one of which was when she represented the Queen when Nigeria gained independence from Britain on 1 October 1960, and opened the first Parliament on 3 October. In May 2023, he appeared with other working members of the royal family in photos taken after the coronation of King Charles III, having attended the event later that day.

Loads. More non-royal than royal. He has 33 known godchildren, the Daily Mail did a thing about it before the coronation. Lots are extended family like the Mountbatten descendants and most are aristocratic but they're mostly not royal. Even if you include deposed royals and non prince/ss descendants like Samuel Chatto or Marina Ogilvy there's 9 royals and 24 non-royals on the list. Diana had 17 godchildren and using the same criteria, she had 2 royals and 15 non-royals. Even the Queen had more non-royal than royal godchildren. Victoria in Sweden is known as being the go to choice for royal babies and even she has 8 royals vs 10 non-royals, so it's closer but still more non royal. There's only a tiny number of royals born each year, but a lot more aristocratic or wealthy babies, so it makes sense.

Although I did Google this and he didn’t recently divorce, he split up from Princess Maria Olympia. So the person he was with who was Charles’s goddaughter is actually a royal anyway.

October 17, 2024, Montreal, Quebec. Stone Island is pleased to announce Material Research ‘984 - ‘024, a highly anticipated archival exhibition in collaboration with Holt Renfrew. This special event will be held in the iconic Tudor Hall at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy in Montreal from October 17 to October 27, 2024.

The exhibition celebrates over four decades of material innovation, showcasing rare and iconic pieces from the Stone Island archive that have profoundly influenced fashion and subculture. Stone Island selected five key items from Holt Renfrew's Fall/Winter 2024 offering that exemplify their unwavering commitment to material innovation. Each of these contemporary pieces will be paired with the archival items that directly inspired their design.

The five material innovation themes on display highlight the consistent evolution in fabric technology: Metallic: A focus on metallic fabrics featuring archival pieces like a jacket made from Pure Metal Shell – Bronze from Autumn_Winter ‘999-’000. Thermo-sensitive: A retrospective on iconic materials dating back to 1989 that change color based on the temperature, including the Ice Jacket Camouflage Thermosensitive Fabric from Autumn_Winter ‘990-’991. Stone Island Marina: An exploration of iconic fabrics used in the nautical-inspired Stone Island Marina line featuring reflective jackets from the Spring_Summer ‘993 collection. Stone Island Ghost: A deep dive into the entirely natural Weatherproof Cotton Canvas called Ventile that appears across diverse Stone Island Ghost collections. David-TC: An in-depth look at the iconic Japanese fabric that undergoes a remarkable transformation during the garment-dyeing process. Featuring rare items such as one of the only styles ever produced to feature a right arm badge from the Stone Island Shadow Spring_Summer ‘004 collection.

Much like Stone Island’s previous exhibition in Los Angeles earlier this year, this Montreal exhibition will embody the brand’s “Lab-Life” philosophy—a blend of continuous research, community, and product, with curated spaces for gathering, learning, and shopping. The Life Section will feature: Café: Montreal’s renowned Café Olimpico, serves as a central hub for visitors to reflect, converse, and read a selection of periodicals curated by Wrong Answer. Screening Room: Showcases The Compass Inside, a documentary short film by American director Jeremy Elkin, featuring members of Stone Island’s global community interspersed with footage from the brand’s factories in Ravarino, Italy, to detail the relationship between lab and life. Born as Prince George of Wales at York Cottage, Sandringham in 1902, he was the youngest son of George V and Queen Mary and was fifth in line to the throne, behind his father (then the Prince of Wales) and his three brothers Edward (VIII), Albert (George VI) and Henry.

Prince George served with the Royal Navy during the 1920's, and then worked in the Foreign Office and the Home Office. (The only member of the Royal Family to have worked as a Civil Servant, I believe.) He later returned to the Royal Navy, and then served in the RAF.

He was created Duke of Kent, Earl of St Andrews, and Baron Downpatrick in 1934 ahead of his marriage to Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. They had three children, which you may recognise today... Prince Edward (Duke of Kent), Princess Alexandra (The Hon. Lady Ogilvy) and Prince Michael of Kent.

His private life was rather colourful, to say the least. It is reported that he had several informal sexual relationships with both men and women, before and during his marriage. It is also alleged that he was addicted to morphine and cocaine, although there is only circumstantial evidence to support this rumour.

Prince George's death in 1942 remains somewhat of a mystery. Officially, the Duke of Kent and 14 others were flying in a Short Sunderland Flying Boat to Iceland on "non-operational duties", when the aircraft crashed into Eagle's Rock, a hillside near Dunbeath, Caithness, Scotland. Unofficially, it is reported that the Duke of Kent had a briefcase chained to his wrist which was stuffed full of Swedish Krona banknotes. This cash would have been worthless in Iceland... therefore, it is speculated that they were actually on a secret military mission to Sweden. The reports of events immediately prior to the crash are also a little strange, but I won't go into that now... I have already bored you with a far too long commentary! [Personal note: I was once told by a reliable source that Prince George was one of the original members of The Brotherhood of the Night... a secret society started in the 1920's for "gentlemen who enjoy wild parties." The Brotherhood was disbanded in 1939, and all written records were destroyed. In 1956, The Fellowship of The Full Moon was established by six former members of The Brotherhood. I was invited to join The Fellowship in 1982, and I am now Vice-President. Only one founder member is still alive... and today our organisation raises a lot of money for numerous charities through social events.]
