Marchula Bus Accident: A bus accident took place in Almora district of Uttarakhand on Monday. According to media reports, 36 people have died in this accident. 10 of them are women. Many people have been injured. They have been rushed to the hospital. According to officials, a bus carrying at least 40 passengers went out of control and fell into a deep gorge near Kupi village in Marchula.

District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey said that the bus was going from Garhwal to Kumaon, when this accident happened in Marchula, Almora. He told that so far seven people have been reported dead. Pandey said that there were about 40 passengers in the bus, so the number of casualties may increase. He said that police and SDRF personnel have reached the spot to start search and rescue operation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the death of people in the accident.

He further wrote, "The local administration and SDRF teams at the site of the incident are working rapidly to evacuate the injured and take them to the nearest health center for treatment. Instructions have also been given to airlift the seriously injured passengers if required."

The incident occurred this morning when a 45-seater passenger bus plunged into a 200-meter-deep gorge at Marchula while traveling from Pauri in Garhwal to Ramnagar in Kumaon. The bus was approximately 35 kilometers away from its destination, Rampur, at the time of the accident. Authorities report that the accident took place around 8:25 AM, with local residents from nearby villages serving as the first responders. While many passengers lost their lives at the scene, at least nine others succumbed to their injuries after being transported to local hospitals. Three critically injured passengers have been airlifted and are being taken to AIIMS for advanced medical treatment. The bus, operated by the Garhwal Motor Owners’ Union, is under investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Officials from both Almora and Ramnagar are present at the accident site, coordinating the rescue efforts.
