This track features a synthesized bell-like sound modeled on the harmonic partials present in the Dumery bells of the main belfry in Bruges, Belgium, cast in the 1740s. I took the information on these bells from the fantastic article "Sound, Pitches, and Tuning of a Historic Carillon" by Albrecht Schneider and Marc Leman.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Fairuza Balk, David Bowie’s 1983 “Let’s Dance” single, Raymond Burr, Martin Carthy, Bill Champlin, Vincent Crane, John Dalton (The Kinks), Albrecht Dürer, ELO’s 1977 “Telephone Line” UK single, Noel Fielding, Sonny Forriest (Ray Charles, The Coasters), Marvin Gaye’s 1971 WHAT’S GOING ON album, Gotye, Richard Hatch, Ronald Isley, Sam Jaffe, The Kingsmen’s 1966 “Louie Louie” single, Stan Lynch, Mrs. Miller’s 1966 “Downtown” single, Robert Montgomery, Rebecca Moore, Richard Morrison, Alexander Pope, Judge Reinhold, Marc Ribot, Todd Rundgren’s 1983 “Bang on the Drum” single, Fayçal Salhi, Leo Sayer, Mr. T, Hilton Valentine, Fats Waller, Shot Williams, Stevie Wonder’s 1977 “Sir Duke” single, and the lively entertainer/singer-songwriter Tony Sheridan. He’s mostly remembered as a footnote in the legacy of The Beatles, but he had his own showbiz trajectory. As a wild, energetic front man and guitarist, his star rose in the late 1950s. Due to a glitch he missed nabbing a spot in The Shadows. Then he went to Germany where, for a few years, there was more interest in him than in his “pick up band” i.e. The Beatles—who called Sheridan “The Teacher” despite (or because of) his crazy ways and occasional fisticuffs. After Beatlemania, Sheridan kept on as a successful German-based pop star, segueing into blues and jazz and involving himself in bizarre side hustles, anti-Communist platforms, and for a time he ran with Bagwhan Sri Rajneesh. Sheridan was secretive about his personal life, but he was wide open on the public stage.
The Tony Sheridan & The Beatles cover of “My Bonnie” prompted me to impulsively record it in a grunge-y San Francisco warehouse loft: Fast, dirty, and just for fun. On a cosmic jukebox, this track would play next to “Hang On to Yourself” (David Bowie), “I Knew the Bride When She Used to Rock’n’Roll” (Dave Edmunds), “Jailhouse Rock” (Elvis Presley), and “God Save the Queen” (Sex Pistols). Meanwhile, HB TS and thank you for your instructive energy! https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/track/my-bonnie-remastered-2021-2

The Grue-Crew join producer Val Lewton, director Mark Robson, and legend Boris Karloff for a quietly creepy and haunting masterpiece from RKO Radio Pictures, Isle of the Dead (1945). This is the second of three films Lewton and Karloff would make together (along with Bedlam and The Body Snatcher) and the fourth of five films Lewton would make with Robson. The tagline promises, “Will Keep You Screaming!” – and, this time, it just might. Check out what Chad, Daphne, and Jeff take away from this undeniable classic.

ASPHALT FLOWER>CLAUDIA JAGUARIBE
É um livro que, segundo o curador francês Marc Pottier, radicado no Brasil e na França, nos faz lembrar do filósofo australiano Glenn Albrecht, autor do livro Earth Emotions: New Words for a New World (Cornell University Press, 2019).

Zdesperowany, gdy zdaję sobie sprawę, że swojej sytuacji, rozdziera serca widzów fenomenalnym “What Have I Done”.
Justyna Kopiszka jako Éponine stawia raczej na melancholijną stronę postaci, dzięki czemu jej “On My Own” wybrzmiewa wręcz świetnie.
Zachwyca też misternie wykonanym "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables".
Kamil Dominiak to Enjolras idealny.
Zastosowano też projekcje multimedialne, by dodać scenografii głębi. To dzięki nim podczas piosenki Javerta oglądamy niebo pełne gwiazd, odbijających się też na scenie.
“Les Miserables” to musical monumentalny, dotykający przenikliwie poważnych, wciąż aktualnych tematów. Teatr Muzyczny w Łodzi realizuje go z niesamowitym rozmachem, zachwycając zarówno kreacjami aktorskimi jak i aspektami technicznymi.
[1] Janusz Kruciński odgrywał już Valjeana Teatrze Muzycznym Roma, za co zebrał bardzo pozytywne opinie; można go też usłyszeć na płycie wydanej przez Romę;
[2] Niestety nie jestem w stanie porównać go do francuskiego oryginału
