The presiding deity of Laxmi Narayan temple in Chamba https://goo.gl/igbuIy - Explore Hinduism One of the largest and the oldest temples in Chamba stands proudly in the form of the Lakshmi Narayan Temple. Housing six different temples in its complex, the temple was built in the 10th century. Arranged from north to south, all the temples in the complex are dedicated to either Lord Shiva or Vishnu. Some additional temples are also housed in the complex including Radha Krishna Temple, Shiva Temple of Chandragupta and Gauri Shankar Temple. Constructed in the Shikhara style, the temple has a Bimana (Shikhara), garbhgriha and a mandapa. The shell roofs and wooden umbrellas at the top of the temple reflect the climactic condition of the place where snowfall is quiet expected. The temple continued to be decorated by various kings of Chamba at different times. King Balabhadra Verma for example added a metallic image of Garuda, Lord Vishnu's vehicle on a high pillar at the main gate of the temple. King Chhatra Singh contributed the gilded pinnacles on the temple tops. This was done to protest the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb to destroy all the Hindu temples in the country. History of Laxmi Narayan Temple - Himachal Pradesh Legend states that the image of Lord Vishnu present in this temple was made of a rare marble imported from Vindhyachal Mountains. The erstwhile king of the region, Sahil Verma, who constructed this temple, sacrificed eight of his sons to get the marble. And finally, his eldest son, Yugkara succeeded to fetch the marble. He was also attacked by the robbers, but with the help of a saint he managed to save himself. Thus with great effort, the idol of the Lord could be made which is the most revered one here. T The temple opens up twice a day for the devotees in two halves. The first half is from 6 am to 12.30 pm and the second one is from 2.30 to 8.30 pm. In between this period the deities are supposed to be taking rest and at night they retire to the interiors of the temple for rest. https://ift.tt/32LzKjR

Certain Revelations to Dr. N Rajgopal by Babaji
One day Dr. N Rajgopal was in deep meditation. The communion with Babaji has begun. Some thoughts pass through about Babaji’s original name Nagaraj and the link with Dr. N Rajgopal’s father late Sri. D Nagarajan. The answer flows: look at my photo in Marshal Govindan’s book and your father’s photo hung in the hall, you will see similarity. After the meditation, I run to look at both the photos. My father adorns himself with three lines of sacred ash on his forehead and Babaji, can be seen with a shawl which has three distinct lines.
Based on a discussion I had with one of my friends earlier, in the next session my communion, my mind tends to ask Babaji. Having lost connection with the family, what is the link between Babaji and Mataji Annai Nagalakshmi? How did they unite and join in Gauri Shankar Ashram in Badrinath? An answer flows from Babaji thus as follows: I am witness to many things and incidents happened over several centuries. You are not! What is the link between your father Nagarajan and Nagalakshmi? Enthralled by the revelations, I run to locate the partition deed date 27th Feb 1924, registered on 15th March 1924 at Thiruvarur Sub Registrar office, Tamil Nadu, between my father Late Sri. D. Nagarajan and my grand father late Sri. Doraiswami Iyer. My father was a seven year old minor child when this deed was partition deed was registered. The deed was moved and registered by Nagalakshmi. Smt. Nagalakshmi was my father’s paternal aunt. Having become a widow, Nagalakshmi’s father adopted my grand father Doraiswami Iyer and thus he become legal heir for the vast property and wealth. As my grand father was spendthrift and was entangled in litigation, in the interest of protecting the property Nagalakshmi moved the above partition deed. Having heard Babaji’s revelations all my relatives were shocked and surprised.

A Blog on Shiva and Shiva Bhakts!
The person who non stop worships and bows his/her head in front of the Statues of Shiva and Gauri Shankar Statues is called a Shiva bhakt.
For all the Shiva bhakts (devotees), the month of Sawan is the most awaited one. This holy month of the year has very significance for the devoted prayers of Lord Shiva. This generally is observed during the months of July and August. Savan is especially relevant to Lord Shiva. The devotees believe, praying Shiva in this month pleases Him the most and brings upon them the blessings of God. In this Swan Month, many Shiva devotees worship Lord Shiva. In this Month, Hindu God Idols are worshiped well in every temple by devotees.
During the time of Sawan, people wake up early in the morning, observe fast and go to temples regularly. Devotees observe the consecutive sixteen Mondays’ commonly known as ‘Solah Somwar’. This is done to impress Lord Shiva and pray for a suitable spouse. It is done in front of Gauri Shankar Moorti in the temple.
This custom has been followed for thousands of years since it was intact in the Hindu Vedas and Puranas.
There is an ancient tale according to which during the times of the Gods and the demons, in the month of sawan, it was decided to do Samundra Manthan or the process of churning the huge ocean. This was done to find out who was superior, the Gods or the demons, as they both wanted the Amrit (nectar) hidden inside the waters of the ocean. However, during the process, before Amrit, deadly poison or halahala also came out of the sea. This poison was so deadly that it could destroy the entire world. At such times of need, Lord Shiva came for the rescue. He drank the entire poison and stored it in his Kanth (throat). The poison could do no more harm to Shiva than just changing the color of his throat. Thus Shiva came to be known as the Neelkanth. Since then, Lord Shiva is worshipped during this time showing the gesture of gratitude for saving the world.
In the holy month of Savan, people observe fasts to please Lord Shiva. It is a prevalent thought that Lord Shiva is the most innocent of all the Gods and anyone can please him by merely fasting for a few days. Thus getting their wishes fulfilled.
In the Sawan month, devotees dedicatedly worship Lord Shiva for prosperity, success, and marriage. Often people visit temples regularly and chant Maha Mrutyunjay Mantra. As Rudraksha has its significance in the Hindu culture, thus, people also wear Rudraksha. A mix of Ghee, Milk, Gangajal, and Honey is offered on the idols of Shiva.

The Significance of the Nine Days of Navratri - Jai Maa Durga!
Navaratri is celebrated by people all across India. This festival is celebrated for nine days and each day has significance. For nine days huge pandals are placed in different corners of almost every city. Large and small marble statues of Durga Mata are placed in these pandals. The last day of the celebration is named the Dashami and is popularly known as the Dussehra. It is the tenth day of Navaratri. Many people perform this puja at home using all the required pious items. Nowadays, the online pooja stores have made the task of buying these samagris all the way easier. Everything is delivered to the doorstep.
Importance of the Nine Days:
Day 1: Shailaputri: This day is also known as the Pratipada. This day is specifically associated with an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. It is in this particular form that Goddess Parvati is worshipped as a consort of Lord Shiva. She is depicted as the rider of a bull with the Trishul in the right hand and a lotus flower in the left hand. Shailaputri is actually the incarnation of Mahakali. Several people place the marble statue of Durga Mata in these pandals.
Day 2: Brahmacharini: Goddess Brahmcharini, which is another incarnation of Maa Parvati, is worshiped on the second day. In this form, Goddess Parvati became Sati. Brahmcharini is worshiped for moksha or emancipation and for the endowment of prosperity and peace. Depicted as holding a kamandalu and a japamala in her hands and walking bare feet, she symbolizes calmness and blissfulness.
Day 3: Chandraghanta: This form of the Goddess is worshipped on the third day of Navratri. The name is derived from the fact after she got married to Lord Shiva. At this time Parvati adorned a half Chandra on her forehead. In this form, she is considered as the symbol of bravery and the embodiment of beauty.
Day 4: Kushmunda: Parvati in the form of Kushmunda is worshipped on the fourth day or Chaturthi. She is believed to have all the powers of the universe and is associated with the endowment of vegetation on the earth. Kushmunda sits on Lion and has eight arms.
Day 5: Skandmata: Skandmata is the form of Parvati worshiped on the fifth day of Navratri or Panchami. She is the mother of Skand or Kartikeya. The color Grey is the symbol of transforming the strength of a mother at the time when her child is confronted with any danger. She is depicted to have four arms carrying her baby and is depicted riding a ferocious lion.
Day 6: Katyayani: Katya is an incarnation of Devi Durga and is believed to exhibit courage that is symbolized by orange color. She is a warrior and is considered one of the most vicious forms of Maa Parvati. In this avatar, the Goddess rides a lion and has four arms.
Day 7: Kalratri: Considered as the most violent form of Goddess Parvati, Kalaratri is venerated on Saptami. It is believed that Goddess Durga removed her fair skin for killing the demons Nisumbh and Sumbh.
Day 8: Mahagauri: Mahagauri is the symbol of peace and intelligence. The color allied to this day is Pink that depicts optimism.
Day 9: Siddhidaatri: On the ninth day of Navratri, Siddhidaatri, another form of Parvati is worshipped. She is depicted sitting on a lotus and is believed to bestow all types of Siddhis. In this form, she has four arms.

All these nine days are celebrated with equal enthusiasm and faith for Mata Durga. People go to temples with all the puja samagri where different statues of Hindu gods are placed.
