Cheap Date Ideas
Planning inexpensive dates can be just as enjoyable and memorable as more extravagant outings. Here are some budget-friendly date ideas to consider:
1. Picnic in the Park:
Pack a picnic basket with homemade sandwiches, snacks, and drinks, and head to a nearby park for a relaxing outdoor meal. Enjoy the scenery, go for a leisurely walk, or simply relax on a blanket and soak up the sun.
2. Movie Night In:
Have a cozy movie night at home with a selection of your favorite films or a movie marathon. Pop some popcorn, snuggle up on the couch with blankets, and enjoy a night of cinematic entertainment without the high cost of movie theater tickets.
3. DIY Cooking Class:
Plan a fun and interactive cooking class at home by choosing a new recipe to try together. Get creative in the kitchen as you prepare a homemade meal or dessert, and enjoy the satisfaction of cooking together while saving money on dining out.
4. Game Night:
Host a game night with board games, card games, or video games for some friendly competition and entertainment. Dust off your favorite games or try out new ones, and enjoy hours of fun and laughter without spending a lot of money.
5. Outdoor Adventure:
Go for a hike, bike ride, or nature walk together at a local park, nature reserve, or scenic trail. Explore the great outdoors, take in the sights and sounds of nature, and enjoy some quality time together in the fresh air without spending a dime.
6. Visit a Free Museum or Gallery:
Many museums and art galleries offer free admission on certain days or evenings. Take advantage of these opportunities to explore cultural exhibits, historical artifacts, and artistic masterpieces together without breaking the bank.
7. Stargazing:
Spend a romantic evening stargazing together in your backyard, at a local observatory, or in a secluded spot away from city lights. Bring a blanket, lay back, and marvel at the beauty of the night sky while sharing stories and making wishes on shooting stars.
8. Volunteer Together:
Give back to your community and bond as a couple by volunteering your time together at a local charity, animal shelter, or community event. Whether it's serving meals at a soup kitchen, cleaning up a park, or helping out at a fundraising event, volunteering can be a rewarding and meaningful way to spend time together without spending money.
9. DIY Craft Night:
Get crafty together with a DIY craft night at home. Choose a craft project that interests you both, such as painting, pottery, scrapbooking, or DIY home decor, and spend the evening unleashing your creativity while making something special together.
10. Scenic Drive:
Take a scenic drive together along a scenic route or through picturesque countryside. Roll down the windows, crank up the music, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the open road as you embark on a spontaneous adventure together.
These budget-friendly date ideas are perfect for couples looking to spend quality time together without breaking the bank. Whether you're enjoying a simple picnic in the park, having a movie night at home, or exploring the great outdoors, the most important thing is to cherish each other's company and create lasting memories together.

I can't find who asked me about how to get hold of the L'Histoire des Bianchi book, but good news for whoever it was - it looks like the Jules Bianchi store has restocked on it (and several other items - the items that allow themselves to be added to the basket). L'Histoire des Bianchi is only available in French, but if you've any interest in the subject, it's worth working through it slowly with a dictionary in hand for all the detail in there. The Jules Bianchi store is a fundraising shop for L'Association Jules Bianchi, which aims to improve healthcare for people in the specialist neurology units in which Jules stayed. I had worried when, early this year, I'd tried and failed to order anything, so seeing it now works and is updated (with several news items and a shiny new partner in Richard Mille to boot!) makes me very happy. (In related news, the 2024 running of the Jules Bianchi Karting Marathon's been announced. It is September 6-8 at Paul Ricard, and is accepting competitors (teams of at least 5 karters, to do the 42 hours, 19 minutes and 50 seconds race*). I believe there is capacity for spectators at the event although I am not clear on the arrangements. Charles Leclerc has already announced he will find time to attend in between the Italian and Azerbaijan Grands Prix, most likely to defend his team's win last year). * - No idea why it's that long a race, though this does mean that even if you bring the maximum number of people onto the team (which was 20 last year - note the entry fee is per kart), everyone will get a decent go. I would not recommend putting in a team of only 5 karters unless you happen to all be professional athletes or experienced long-stint karters.

World Heart Day
Heart Day is part of an international campaign to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. This is the perfect day to quit smoking, get exercising and start eating healthy – all in the name of keeping your ticker in good working order, and improving the health and well being of people the world over.
Learn about World Heart Day
The World Heart Federation have found that heart disease and strokes are the world’s leading cause of death, killing 17.1 million people every year – that’s more than victims of cancer, HIV and AIDS and malaria.
Overeating, lack of exercise, unhealthy diets and high blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels are all factors which can trigger heart disease and threaten our own lives, and those of loved ones. Heart Day was set up to drive home the message that heart problems can be prevented.
History of World Heart Day
The aim is to improve health globally by encouraging people to make lifestyle changes and promoting education internationally about ways to be good to your heart. This lesson is becoming increasingly relevant as reports of obesity, poor diet and physical inactivity in children and young people become more and more common.
Events take place to promote healthy hearts. Charities and other organisations coordinate walks and runs, health checks, public talks, shows and exhibitions to name a few of the interesting and informative events which mark the day. So on Heart Day, get involved, eat your fruit and veg and get outside; both you and your heart will feel the benefits.
World Heart Day is celebrated every year. It was created by the World Heart Federation. The first World Heart Day took place back in 2000. Since then, in 2012, leaders from around the globe committed to the reduction of worldwide mortality from non-communicable diseases by 25 percent by 2025.
Did you know that almost half of the NCD deaths happen because of cardiovascular disease? This makes it the biggest killer across the world. Therefore, World Heart Day is the perfect platform for the community to come together in the battle against cardiovascular disease and lower the worldwide disease burden.
How to observe World Heart Day
As World Heart Day is all about drawing people’s attention to heart diseases and illnesses, as well as the range of health issues that are associated with this, it makes sense to raise awareness and also improve your own understanding. We would recommend taking some time to do a bit of research about heart conditions and risk factors. You can then use your online platforms and your social groups in order to raise awareness.
There are both non-governmental and governmental organizations that take part in this date around the world. They do this through the organization of science fairs, exhibitions, fitness sessions, public talks, walks, and marathons. Some famous buildings, monuments, and landmarks opt to go red on this date so that they can show their support for cardiovascular disease awareness.
If you are opting to celebrate this day, it is important to try and be more attentive to your own heart health. There are a number of different ways that you can do this. This includes following a healthy diet, quitting alcohol, stopping smoking, and getting involved in physical exercises. It is also important to have your cholesterol, blood pressure, and heart checked on a regular basis.
It is a good idea to take a look online to see if there are any events that are going on in your local area. If there are not, how about organizing an event yourself? All you need is an idea that is going to get the community involved and raise awareness for heart disease. This could be anything from a fun run to a community fair. It is up to you.
You don’t need to do an event on such a big scale either. You could gather your friends and family members and host a fun event, educating them on the issues and asking them to make a donation. Other ways to fundraise include making crafts and then donating the proceeds to a heart foundation or charity.
There are a lot of different charities and organizations that are doing great work when it comes to raising awareness and finding cures for different heart problems. We are sure that they would appreciate a donation, whether this is a donation of your time, money, or both! After all, anything that you can do can make a difference to someone’s life, so do not underestimate the role that you can play.

Pixel Power: Revolutionizing Online Fundraising with Digital Ingenuity
In the ever-evolving landscape of charitable giving, traditional methods are being eclipsed by innovative digital strategies that harness the power of the internet. Welcome to the era of "Pixel Power," where online fundraising is undergoing a radical transformation, captivating donors and revolutionizing how we support causes.
Gone are the days of door-to-door solicitations and stuffy charity galas. Today's savvy fundraisers are tapping into the vast potential of the digital realm, crafting campaigns that are as entertaining as they are impactful. From virtual reality experiences to blockchain-based giving, the possibilities are as limitless as the internet.
One groundbreaking approach gaining traction is the concept of "Charity Streaming." Influencers and everyday individuals are leveraging platforms like Twitch and YouTube to host marathon gaming sessions, art creation, or even quirky challenges, all to raise funds for their chosen causes. These events generate donations and foster a sense of community among viewers, creating a ripple effect of generosity.
This interactive online platform allows donors to "plant" their contributions virtually, watching their impact grow in real time.
For the tech-savvy philanthropist, "Crypto for Good" initiatives are gaining momentum. By accepting cryptocurrency donations, organizations are tapping into a new donor demographic and leveraging blockchain technology's transparency and efficiency to showcase how funds are utilized.
The "Augmented Reality Treasure Hunt" is yet another exciting development in digital fundraising. Participants use their smartphones to embark on virtual scavenger hunts in their local communities, unlocking donations as they discover hidden digital tokens. This gamified approach raises funds, increases awareness about local issues, and encourages physical activity.
By partnering with e-commerce platforms, charities can offer exclusive digital products or experiences, with proceeds directly supporting their mission. From limited-edition NFTs to virtual concerts, these unique offerings provide value to donors while generating much-needed funds.
As we venture further into the digital age, the landscape of online fundraising continues to evolve at a dizzying pace. By embracing these innovative approaches and harnessing the power of pixels, charitable organizations can tap into new wells of generosity, engaging donors in ways that were once unimaginable. Once unimaginable ways, it's digital, dynamic, and more impactful than ever.

"I started running at primary school, somewhat reluctantly, doing the required cross-country. And being at a small Fiordland school, if there was a sports team for anything, you sort of all have to play, just to make up the numbers!
Both my parents did the first Kepler Challenge and I remember “running” with Dad while he was training and trying to keep up with him... as much as an eight year old can. Around that time there was also a local run/bike event that went from Manapouri to Te Anau. You’d be in teams of two where you'd leap frog one another, leaving your bike on the side of the road and then start running. That would have been my first race but I didn't really run again after I left school. I did spend my youth volunteering for the Kepler Challenge though; amazed at how people could possibly run that far and never once believing that I could do it myself.
Years later I worked for DOC on the Milford Track, essentially chasing whio (blue duck) up and down a river. That kept me pretty fit as I was always on my feet a lot, hiking and climbing hills. So I decided to enter the Luxmore Grunt, essentially with no training, aside from chasing ducks. I did the Luxmore Grunt two years in a row and I did all right. And then I just stopped running again, for about fifteen years.
It was during the Covid lockdown that I took it up again properly. Mostly because there was nothing else to do, you couldn't go anywhere. I'd sort of tried to get back into running a few times, but I'd always injure myself early on because I’d go out too far, too fast, too soon. So lockdown was a good opportunity to do it right and I made a plan to take it slow. I even found a ‘couch to 5k’ plan and (mostly) stuck to it. But then they let us out of lockdown and I sort of just bolted! I found all the trails close to home on the Wild Things website and it ballooned out of control quite quickly. I was like “how many trails can I tick off?” I live in Christchurch with the Port Hills on my doorstep - so it turns out there’s a lot!
I found another training plan online and decided to train for the Motatapu Marathon. Unfortunately it was cancelled because of Covid, so I ran a 42km loop around Lyttleton Harbour. I just thought “I wonder if I can”. And I could, although it was a bit of a sufferfest. (I also had to because it was the only way to get back to the car!).
Why did I run? I think I just really enjoyed the freedom of being out of the house and in nature. I don't know, it's quite relaxing... as much as it can hurt at times. And I think for me, those mental health benefits you get from being outside, moving and having time to think were really important. And I love a challenge - I'm very badge orientated. If there's a way of gamifying something, you've got me! And ticking off as many trails as I could had me hooked.
I’d listen to podcasts on my runs and there was an episode on Dirt Church Radio that stuck with me. Madeleine Collins from Auckland had done a challenge during lockdown where she ran an 8km loop in January... and then she ran it twice in February, three times in March, four times in April, continuing on like that for a whole year, finally running twelve loops in December. That challenge really appealed to me; that kind of incremental, increasing suffering, a ‘I don't know if this thing is possible’ kind of thing. I didn’t jump on it right away, but doing something similar was always in the back of my mind.
Then my Aunt Joan passed away from younger onset dementia a couple of years ago. Dementia Canterbury, a support network for patients and their families, had been a really useful resource for her and her family, and so I decided to try and raise some money for them in memory of my Aunt, to give back for all that they did. My Uncle Pete had ridden the length of New Zealand as a fundraiser and I still had this Madeleine Collins idea mulling around in my head. So I decided it was an opportunity to amalgamate these two ideas; raise some cash for Dementia Canterbury, and set myself a fun challenge... well, type two fun.
For my “Adventure for Dementia”, I settled on a 5km loop in the Port Hills, known as the “Pipeline of Pain”. It just sounds so appealing, doesn’t it. It has 490 metres of climbing over that 5km. The plan was I’d run one loop in January, two in February, three times in March, all the way through to December. The final run in December was 62 kilometres with 5,780 metres elevation. Okay it’s not really a run, it was basically straight up the gas pipeline, then it was too steep to run down the other side really, and then it was into another steep up and down. December's 12 loops took me 18 hours to complete.
I was so fortunate to have a whole lot of community support around me for this. I did the single January lap by myself because I hadn't told anyone what or why I was doing it, and I didn't know yet if it was even possible. But people slowly found out and basically every lap thereafter people would join me. One guy Ken, who at the time I didn't really know, joined me in May and he did all five laps with me. Then he came back for June, July, August, right through to December. I did 78 laps in total and Ken did 68. We're quite good mates now, after spending a lot of time and suffering together. Heaps of other people that I'd never met before joined in for laps too. Some people got wind of it and drove from miles away to be a part of it. Some people just wanted to come and challenge themselves on the Pipeline track, and some came because they had a dementia connection.
I/We raised $13,000 for Dementia Canterbury - very stoked!! That was nine months ago now. I still like running, but I didn't run for some months afterwards. I was a tad broken, but I learnt that it's possible... that it's absolutely possible... you just have to be stubborn, keep moving.... and remember to eat!
I do want to know what more I am capable of. I don't feel like I’ve hit the limit yet, maybe because I haven't failed. I feel like there's more. I've got a miler on my list, another Backyard Ultra maybe.
My advice, just go and do it I reckon. If you don't get out there and give it a go you'll never know what's possible!"Amy @amy_goes_adventuring (Christchurch) Photo taken in Te Anau– Portraits of Runners + their stories @RunnersNZ

02/06/2024 - Richmond Park Half Marathon. George came in at 03:00 despite my reminder before he went out that he’d agreed to drive me to the event at 07:30. I was fuming for a little while but managed to get back to sleep and we left only a little bit later than planned in the morning. George had to pull over to throw up en route but he managed not to complain about his condition. I’d made my playlist the night before to hype me up and it was working. When we arrived, the registration process was very easy and the adrenaline started pumping. Everyone seemed to look pretty athletic so that made me a bit more nervous but I’d stuck to my two month training plan consistently so I’d done what I could to succeed. We did a 15 minute group warm up before they invited people up in predicted times. I’d only done one half marathon and that was many moons ago and on a flat course. Today was 19 degrees and a hilly four lap course, so I had no idea what to aim for. I thought perhaps 2 hours 15 minutes seemed realistic but when I saw the people going up for 2 hours I felt like I should join them. The atmosphere was great and I was feeling so motivated by all the generosity people had shown with my fundraiser. The start was a bit congested as everyone was settling into their rhythm and I became aware again that I don’t like being stuck closely amongst people so kept racing to get around/away from them. The first two laps didn’t seem too bad and I felt comfortable. The third lap seemed slower and by the fourth I felt like my knee might give out. I’d definitely pushed too much at the beginning, a classic race day mistake! But George got up to cheer me on for each lap and that kept me pushing on, as well as my WhatsApp notification reading out the message from Natalie reminding people to donate to the cause. I finished with a Strava time of 1 hour 53 minutes! A personal best, despite the conditions! Unlike my last half marathon, I did not get to the end and think I could do more. The buzz was the same though! I felt like I’d done the cats and my supporters proud! I grabbed the biscuit and sweaty flapjack and found hobbled over to George! We went to 127 for a BBQ with Mama and Faja to celebrate.

A CELEBRATION OF OUR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
From its inception in 2004 to the present day, the trajectory of Maple Bear has been marked by innovation and an unwavering commitment to providing top-tier Canadian-based bilingual education on a global scale.
FROM INSPIRATION TO CREATION
Rodney Briggs, Founder of Maple Bear Global Schools, was inspired by an idea that evolved from many conversations with education leaders around the world. It was clear that there was a global need to fill the gap for high-quality preschool education based on a model that differentiated itself from all others in the market – the best of Canadian education.
It is an exceptional and innovative model that would prepare children and adolescents for life and to be successful as students, professionals, citizens, and family members in their home countries or wherever they choose to live.
With this purpose, Maple Bear developed an educational approach based on the best practices responsible for placing Canadian Education among the best in the world, which, alongside a world-class program in traditional subjects, such as math and science, would instill in students a real passion for learning, and prepare them for an environment where skills like autonomy, critical thinking, collaboration, understanding of different cultures, resilience, and others are crucial for success.
IMPACT THROUGH GROWTH
From inspiration to creation, Maple Bear Global Schools has established a solid legacy of educational excellence that spans continents.
In the early years, building a global presence posed formidable challenges. Overcoming geographical and cultural barriers demanded innovative approaches and a deep understanding of diverse educational landscapes. Yet, it was precisely these challenges that laid the foundation for our growth.
From the inaugural school in Delhi in 2005 to the current addition of 31 countries to our global family (plus eight coming soon), Maple Bear’s footprint has expanded exponentially.
This growth is not just a numerical feat; it reflects our ability to adapt, evolve, and meet the diverse needs of students worldwide.
This unparalleled global footprint reflects our commitment to providing high-quality bilingual education and signifies Maple Bear’s adaptability and resonance on a truly global scale.
IMPACT THROUGH GIVING BACK
For Maple Bear, Giving Back isn’t just a concept; it’s foundational to our commitment to instilling values of empathy and social responsibility in our students. Through these endeavours, Maple Bear fosters a sense of global citizenship, illustrating the transformative power of collective action in creating a positive impact on the world.
An example of how much this belief impacts our operations can be found in the inspiration Maple Bear took from the spirit of Terry Fox, a Canadian hero whose Marathon of Hope ignited the nation.
In 2018, we launched a global fundraising initiative in the name of the Terry Fox Foundation – an organization supporting cancer research in Canada and abroad.
Since then, the program has grown and, in many countries, has evolved into a cherished annual event, weaving a thread of community spirit within and beyond our school boundaries.
The impact has been profound, with Maple Bear Global Schools collectively raising over $400,000 (CDN) in donations for the Terry Fox Foundation and various regional cancer research organizations.
Alongside this project, Maple Bear promotes countless initiatives to foster in students the perception that they can and should be agents for transformation in their surroundings, contributing to building a better society at all levels.
IMPACT THROUGH COLLABORATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Our Canadian Faculty are critical members of the Maple Bear family. They are responsible for training our teachers and school administrators around the world, performing quality assurance checks, and writing the curriculum that forms the foundation of our education model.
Recognizing the invaluable role they play and to further support their continuous professional development, we instituted an annual Symposium in 2015.
Once a year, our faculty come together to share ideas, motivate one another, and improve our processes and practices that subsequently enhance the teacher and student experience. This annual gathering served as a platform for knowledge-sharing and fueled the collaborative spirit that defines our global educational community.
As Maple Bear evolves, so will our Symposium.
In 2024, the first-ever Global Conference will be held in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the participants will expand to include our global partners and school owners from around the world, in addition to our faculty.
It is an opportunity to reframe our annual gathering that seeks to support all the stakeholders at Maple Bear, provide everyone with the benefit of best practice sharing, and be active participants in building a future that benefits our educators and students worldwide various regional cancer research organizations.
Alongside this project, Maple Bear promotes countless initiatives to foster in students the perception that they can and should be agents for transformation in their surroundings, contributing to building a better society at all levels.
IMPACT THROUGH COLLECTIVE PASSION
Our celebration of the past would be incomplete without acknowledging the dedication of our Maple Bear community. Teachers, trainers, administrators, school owners, parents, and students have been integral to our journey.
Their collective passion has been the driving force behind every success, turning challenges into opportunities and fostering a vibrant global learning community that reinforces our dedication to shaping the minds of future generations worldwide.
Here’s to celebrating our past, embracing our achievements, and looking forward to the endless possibilities that the future holds for Maple Bear Global Schools.
Cheers to 20 years of excellence and the promise of many more!

Frabjous Studios created a virtual game BANKWAVE: Neon Networth which, in simpler terms, is like diving into a movie scene from a futuristic universe. Imagine a world that looks like those old-school, pixelated graphics from the past but feels as modern as the cyberpunk cities you see in the latest films. That's what you're getting into with BANKWAVE. From October 9th to 16th, during the Steam NextFest event, you can try out a demo for free. This preview will also be available for both Mac and Windows PC on Steam. But the developer does have Linux support in mind already.
We are developing BANKWAVE: Neon Networth with Ebitengine in Go. While we are presently building and releasing for Linux privately, some of our play testers have reported success.
The BANKWAVE: Neon Networth developer also points out, "Since Go builds to static binaries, native Linux support isn't much more difficult than our other builds." Which means we will be able to expect a day one release for launch. Now, what are the details behind this story document simulator game? BANKWAVE: Neon Networth takes you into the shoes of a character who's known as a VatBorn teller. Without making things too complicated, your character was cloned in a lab and now stuck in a massive corporate building. All while forced to work in customer service and meet interesting people. Some of these characters you meet are just like regular folks looking to get their work done, but others? They have stories, secrets, and opportunities that could change your fate. Making the right choices with these characters can either help you find a way out or keep you trapped in BANKWAVE: Neon Networth.

Frabjous Studios ensures that while you're on this adventure, you're surrounded by visuals and sounds that make you feel you're in another dimension. BANKWAVE: Neon Networth is a mix of old-school charm and futuristic vibes. Plus, the background tunes? They have this catchy, jazzy beat that makes you feel you're in some retro nightclub. What's unique is that the idea for BANKWAVE: Neon Networth came from Ludum Dare, which is like an indie marathon for creating such games. As a result, it received very high scores for its music and artwork. So, you know it's got some solid credability behind it! Lastly, the team at Frabjous Studios is also hosting a fundraising through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. They're aiming to raise $17,000 USD to polish and enhance the title even more. With the support from fans, they plan to release a more advanced version of BANKWAVE: Neon Networth. Due to hit Steam Early Access in Q1 2024. So, if you've ever wanted to see what it feels like to be in a different universe, where decisions matter, and where every pixel tells a story, BANKWAVE: Neon Networth might be worth checking out. Try the story document simulator a shot during the free preview and see if it's your kind of adventure. Due to make its way onto Linux, Mac, and Windows PC.

“So what's my WHY when it comes to running? Well it's definitely evolved over the years to a point where it is now a key part of my identity, my passion and my life.
I was a nerd as a school-kid. Straight A-student, but not sporty at all. I was always jealous of the athletic types and their popularity. Fast forward to university and I continued to study hard, but party harder, and by the time I finished my degree in London, I was very unfit, smoking, drinking too much, and eating poorly. Then I went out to watch the London Marathon one day and I was blown away by the determination shown on the faces of the athletes, all running for different reasons, but united in their goal, and the support to propel them was awe-inspiring. A seed was sown and a few years later, it came up in a conversation with my old man. I made a throwaway comment about how cool it would be to run it one day. In his 50s at the time, and willing to call my bluff, he threw down the challenge - "Well if you're in, I'll do it with you". The gauntlet was laid down. We got charity fundraising entries (failing in the lottery) and spent the next 6 months training for the 2007 London Marathon. The day came - I went out like a hare and crashed and burned by mile 20. He went out like a (smarter) tortoise and caught me close to the finish line. That was a special day.
After moving to NZ, I continued road running for many years, mainly as a commute to stay fit, but also did several 10ks, halfs and marathons again. In my 40th year, I set myself the challenge of 4 marathons in a year, and ticked off Hawkes Bay, Wellington, Dunedin and Queenstown. But injuries kept coming back and I was getting slower and losing interest against the pressure to get faster. Then a friend at work suggested I try an XTERRA race at Makara West Wind. It was brutal, but I loved it. The goal was no longer to finish in front of others, it was about supporting each other to get to that finish line, to revel in the amazing scenery we ran through, and to make new friends. I'd found my passion.
From there, I soon signed up to the full series, exploring all these cool trails on my doorstep I had no idea existed. On one of the races, I overheard someone talking about WUU2K. Two days later I was signed up. Then it was Taupo 50k, then Tarawera 102k, Old Ghost Ultra, the list goes on. But the races weren't the end goal - they were just the celebration of the journey, which was all about exploring as many trails as I could, soaking it all in. Yes it was training, but wasn't an effort like it used to be. I discovered the Wild Things trail directory which changed my life in that exploration aspect. And I found my tribe in WoRM - a collection of simply amazing human beings, who love running in beautiful places, and don't mind the odd beer or two afterwards!
I haven't slowed down since, ticking off lots of amazing events, exploring further afield in wild places like the Tararuas, and going further and further each year, the pinnacle being the summer just gone where I completed the Tarawera Miler then Ring of Fire, and a few of us have just done 3 of the Great Walks in 5 days.
I don't know how long I will be able to continue, but trail running has made me, at 45, fitter than I've ever been, not just in mind but in spirit too. It takes a lot of mental stamina to complete an ultra and the strength that's given me helps me in other facets of my life. As someone with very much a "carpe diem" mentality, I intend to keep exploring, and be grateful for each day I am able to run and do so in a safe and beautiful country with a wonderful community alongside me!”
