Calvão da Silva foi “um dos nossos maiores”

“Foram três dias que nunca esqueceremos”. A frase pertence à esposa de João Calvão da Silva, Ana Maria Matos, e que resume, na perfeição, o que se passou no Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas. Organizada pela concelhia JSD, a academia com o nome do professor da Faculdade de Direito e antigo governante juntou na cidade alguns dos líderes social-democratas, bem como serviu para formar jovens políticos na área da Justiça e da Europa. Em todas as intervenç��es, a tónica inicial foi de elogio ao docente universitário falecido em março do ano passado. Ontem, último dia da iniciativa, as primeiras histórias foram contadas por Álvaro Amaro. O presidente dos Autarcas Social-Democratas (ASD) e da câmara da Guarda recordou que nos anos 80 Calvão da Silva e Fernando Nogueira foram “os dois jovens” que o marcaram e que não estranhou, por exemplo, que o homenageado tivesse sido chamado ao Governo em 1983. A sua chegada à liderança da Distrital de Coimbra do PSD, e que foi decidido num “passeio” no Forte de S. Julião da Barra, marcou o discurso inicial de Álvaro Amaro. Depois, Manuela Ferreira Leite referiu que Calvão da Silva foi “uma pessoa que nunca abdicou dos princípios, valores e das suas profundas convicções”. “Ele nunca deixou de percorrer a linha que tinha traçado para a sua vida”, referiu a antiga líder social-democrata que, aproveitando a presença de muitos jovens políticos, disse que o homenageado nesta academia é “um exemplo a ser seguido”.

Manuela Matos Monteiro - Portugal

Manuela Matos Monteiro studied and taught Philosophy and Psychology and publishes books of Pedagogy and Psychology. As a photographer, she displayed her work in individual exhibitions in Portugal, in the European Parliament (Brussels), Paris, Bordeaux (France), Maputo, Beira (Mozambique), etc. She is currently directing, with J. Lafuente, Espaço MIRA and MIRA Forum two galleries in Porto, Portugal dedicated to photography and Contemporary Art.
