Manik MC & Natty Wylah - Blue Afternoons

The 22-year-old Londoner is quietly gathering friends in high places, attracting lovers of poetry and hip-hop, with his deft lyricism, intricate wordplay and honest wisdom beyond his years. 'Blue Afternoons' is the next video to come from his debut EP, 'Midnight Express', which includes collaborations with UK heavyweights Jehst, Loyle Carner and Rebel Kleff.

“The track is a portrait of growing up in London,” Manik tells Clash. Featuring his longtime friend Natty Wylah, Manik explains that ‘Blue Afternoons’ is a return to more care-free times; a reminder that life doesn’t always have to seem so complicated. “I can be quite nostalgic, and you can hear that in the beats I choose. ['Blue Afternoons'] is a reflection on the times that shaped where I am now, as an artist and an individual.”

I challenged myself for writing (after rest for months, I guess?) and posting on Tumblr again, after years. But I still don't have enough confident to write in English, so here I'll write in my native language; Indonesian!

I write for GE Saeran and my custom MC (to be honest, it's my self-insert :p), named Awan Dara, and her nickname is Awa <3

Tik tik tik

Waktu terasa lambat sekali bergulir. Tubuh Awa rebah di atas kasur, matanya tak lepas dari jam barang sedetik pun. Jam 3, batinnya. Masih ada sisa dua jam lagi dari waktu yang dijanjikan Saeran. Awa mendesah, memutuskan untuk tidur barang sejenak, berharap ketika ia terbangun nanti, Saeran sudah ada di depan matanya.

Boys Days Out, begitulah Saeyoung menyebutnya. Tiga hari lalu, Saeyoung meminta izin untuk meminjam Saeran berlibur bersama. Setelah perjalanan panjang sejak Saeran terlepas dari Mint Eye dan berbagai kejadian dramatis lainnya, Saeyoung mengajak Saeran untuk beristirahat dari realita sebentar, sekaligus sebagai ajang untuk saling mengenal kembali setelah sekian lama terpisahkan.

Awalnya, Saeran mengajak Awa juga, karena tentu ia tidak tega meninggalkan Awa sendiri, dan bagaimana bisa dia tidak melihat dan mendengar suara Awa barang sehari? Namun, Saeyoung langsung memberi kode dengan menyilangkan tangannya dari belakang Saeran, meminta Awa agar menolaknya. Tanpa dikode pun, Awa cukup pengertian bahwa mereka butuh ruang untuk kembali saling mengenal.

"Aku nggak apa-apa, sayang," tutur Awa, tersenyum melihat kekhawatiran dari mata dan suara kekasihnya itu. "Bagaimana kalau tiap pagi dan malam kita janjian untuk video call? Jadi aku tetap akan terasa liburan sama kamu, kan?" dan, setelah dirayu sedemikian rupa, akhirnya Saeran pun menganggukan kepala.

Dan sekarang, sudah tiba waktunya untuk Saeran dan Saeyoung pulang dari liburan singkat mereka. Awa sudah menyiapkan sebuah hadiah kecil untuk menyambut kekasihnya pulang nanti. Hatinya berdentum tak karuan, membayangkan bagaimana ekspresi Saeran ketika menerima hadiahnya itu.

"Awa, sayang?" Suara lembut Saeran membelai telinga Awa. Awa mengerjap, menimbang apakah ia hanya berhalusinasi akibat kerinduannya, atau benarkah ini kekasihnya yang ada di depan mata?

Tangan Awa mengusap pipi Saeran perlahan. "Saeran...?" ucapnya lirih, yang dibalas dengan gumaman kecil. Awa melonjak kaget. "Loh, kamu... beneran udah pulang?"

Saeran tertawa kecil. Lengannya terbuka lebar, mengundang Awa ke dalam pelukannya, yang tentu saja disambut dengan hangat. "Kamu segitu kangennya, ya, sampai mengira ini cuma mimpi?"

"Kamu ngomong gitu seakan-akan kamu nggak kangen sama aku," Awa pura-pura cemberut.

Saeran tertawa lagi. Ia mengecup dahi Awa perlahan, berharap dapat mengembalikan senyum Awa. Di saat yang bersamaan, Awa mengeluarkan sesuatu dari sakunya dan menyelipkannya dengan cepat ke tangan Saeran.

Saeran terkejut ketika ia merasakan ada sesuatu yang melingkari tangannya. Ia mengangkat tangan kirinya, dan seketika matanya dipenuhi dengan berbagai emosi; terkejut, kagum, bahagia, dan penasaran ---- semua menjadi satu.

"Apa ini----" belum sempat Saeran menyelesaikan pertanyaannya, Awa segera mengangkat tangan kirinya sambil tertawa lebar. Sebuah gelang manik-manik berwarna biru langit, lengkap dengan charm awan kecil dan inisial A dan S, nama mereka. Seketika rona merah menyebar di pipi Saeran, dikecup lembut bibir kekasihnya sebagai ungkapan terima kasih.

"Terima kasih, sayang, kado ini indah sekali. Dengan gelang ini, sejauh apapun jarak memisahkan, sejatinya kita tidak akan benar-benar berpisah, bukan?"
