Valentine's Day
Decided to do this as a Valentine's Day special, hope you like it
An interesting fact that I discovered is that people who are called Valentina/Valentino/Valentim this day is like an Onomastic birthday (Birthday of someone who is named after the Saint of that day) So happy birthday Valentina/Valentino/Valentim!!!
Summary: How they react to receiving gifts from their s/o on Valentine's Day
Confused
They stand there with their eyebrows widened as they stare at the gift in their hands.
It is not a surprise for them to receive gifts at this time or even hundreds of their admirers
Sometimes it was a hassle to have so many chocolates or gifts
But receiving one of your own? It was something they hadn't imagined, but they liked the idea.
Suddenly he caresses your head and sends you a genuine smile
"Thank you" They say with that sparkle in their eyes that only you and one of the few to witness
They wouldn't mind getting a Valentine's Day gift if it was yours
Tom Knowles, Rayne Ames, Lance Crown, Wirth Mádl, Ryoh Grantz, Carpaccio Luo-Yang, Shuen Getsuku, Lance Crown
Stunned
They just stand there with wide eyes when they see you handing them a gift on Valentine's Day
Surprised and little they are stunned
They never got a Valentine's gift from anyone...unless someone stole them
But receiving a gift from you? They're a blushing mess
Without them realizing it, their face is redder than tomatoes, peppers or any other fruit/vegetable that is red.
"Everything is fine?!?" You say worried about them
"Y-yes!!! Everything is great" They manage to say trying to hide the excitement of getting something for Valentine's Day especially from their s/o
Your cuteness will someday be the death of them
Dot Barrett, Abyss Razor, Cello Morceau, Tron Morceau, Milo Genius, Cell War
Joyful
As soon as they realize that you are witnessing it on Valentine's Day, their surroundings light up
It doesn't matter if they've had a bad day or their expression is dull or they just don't show it, the air around them lights up and even seems to have flowers.
"Really for me!" They say doubtful
"Yes! Besides, today is the day to give a gift to your loved one" You say as you bring the gift to them
Suddenly they reach into your pocket and take out a gift and give it to you
"I thought the same thing" They say laughing a little at the coincidence
You can't help but laugh at the coincidence as they exchange gifts
It seems like you read each other's minds
Finn Ames, Lemon Irvine, Love Cute, Renatus Revol, Kaldo Gehenna, Lovie Rosequartz, Delisaster, Malcolm Curtis, Galuf Gargaron, Margarette Macaron, Max Land, Adam Jobs
Without expression
They just stand there while staring at their present, yet it was so silent you could hear a pin drop.
They don't say anything it seems like they didn't like it at all
"If you don't like-" You try to say but suddenly they go through something in your pocket and take out a gift
"...Looks like we had the same idea" They say trying to hide the amusement in their tone as they hand it to you
"Ah! And indeed heh~" You laugh as they exchange gifts
Fate likes to play tricks on you both

there’s something to be said about his character here. you can just see it before i even have to explain.
although, if you want my explanation, it’ll be under the cut.
would a main character, who boasts that he hates side characters, that is adamant that he’s the protag, ask why a side character died for “a guy like him”?
would such an arrogant main character cry over a side character like this? such a loud, self centered, cocky main character? i didn’t think so.
no one’s ever really liked dot. he was bullied as a kid, heavily. he had no friends, his only protection being malta.
so, in order to survive, what else can he do but put on a front? a character for the world to see that makes him confident. a main character.
and he does that. but this main character persona of his is just too egotistical. too loud. too annoying. too delusional. too stupid. and because of this, still, no one really likes him.
but this time they can’t tell it bothers him. this time he doesn’t show the bad stuff. this time he’s stronger. he’s more confident. he’s the main character after all, isn’t he?
… but he’s not.
under it all is still the same kid that malta had to protect every time other kids bullied him. under it is still a softer guy who cares. who wants to be cared for.
and that’s when mash steps in.
mash, the ever caring, who makes a friend of dot. who makes the friend group. who helps everyone grow, who everyone helps him grow.
and when dot, who has been alone all his life, finally has a group to call his own, that persona begins to falter.
he’s less arrogant now. it’s a pretty quick seeming switch-up, but it can be assumed that more happens behind the scenes.
over time he becomes that softer guy he actually is. he doesn’t have to put up this huge annoying persona anymore. this is, of course, not to say he’s entirely a soft guy. because he’s not.
he’s still loud. he’s still annoying. he’s still kinda arrogant. he’s still all of these things. but he’s also more genuine. more caring. more of a real person than what he put on. because that mix of contrasting traits is exactly who dot barrett is.
so when lance takes that hit for him, and he’s under the impression lance just died for HIM to live, he’s shaken.
not only is one friend he’s grown to cherish (through banter) dying right in front of his eyes, but he’s dying for dot’s sake.
lance, who seems to hate dot. lance, who is the most annoyed by him out of everyone. lance, who has stronger magic than dot, lance, who’s here to save anna.
lance just took a fatal hit for dot.
a main character would, for lack of a better way to put this, sadly accept this and move on with the rest of the story.
but dot isn’t that.
dot isn’t the cocky guy he pretends he is.
so when lance collapsed into dots arms and is later dying on the floor, dot has no more honest a question to ask than,
“why’d you die for a guy like me?”
because he’s nothing special, and he knows that.
except, he is. and lance knows that. and so do the others. because dot is just as special and important as everyone else.
he’s no awful bitchy main character.
he’s a kind soul who was hurt too many times. who was forced to act rude to continue on his path.
he’s not the main character of this story. but he is the main character of his story.
he’s also just a kid. a kid with a heart that was torn up. a kid who deserved better. a kid who didn’t deserve to have to pretend he was more confident than he was to not get hurt any more.
but where he is now, he’s allowed to be himself. he’s allowed to just be.
that’s all.

Eyes on the world #194
Cominciamo subito 👇
🇩🇪 ESTREMA DESTRA SOTTO ATTACCO IN GERMANIA. PROCESSI E ALLEANZE FALLITE RALLENTANO LA SCALATA
3) Voliamo in #Germania, dove molte notizie stanno ruotando intorno a seguaci e membri effettivi dell’estrema destra.
I POSSIBILI SCENARI FUTURI

8th September 1872 - Malta. Another Royal Irish burial in Malta. Hannah Barrett wife of QM H. Barrett died 8th Sep 1872 aged 38 yrs. Also Rose Barrett daughter of above died 8th Mar 1874 aged 5 yrs.
They are buried in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Pieta. The 1st Battalion was in Malta from January 1872 to October 1874. The RIR brought a Measles epidemic to the island with them. The families reported 93 cases of measles with 8 deaths in 1872. Mrs Barrett may have been one of them. The soldiers in their barracks fared better. There were only 9 reported cases of Measles among the troops. Five men died in 1872, one of Enteric Fever.

British firms report success at interzoo show , Pet Trade News & Events from Pet Business World UK
British firms returned to the Interzoo exhibition in Germany last month after a four-year hiatus and reported the event to be a great success.
Trade association PetQuip organised a group of more than 50 UK companies exhibiting in the British Pavilion at the trade show in Nuremburg. The British firms were supported before and during the show by the team from PetQuip and the
British pet industry information stand attracted unprecedented interest from overseas buyers during the show.
Carina Evans, of Podium Pet Supplies, summed up the mood of companies taking part in the British group, saying: “It was simply brilliant to be back in Europe and in front of our customers. We were really surprised and delighted to see things 100% back to normal.”
Several UK companies exhibited at Interzoo for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by the levels of interest generated.
Cheryl Parry, head of marketing at The Barking Bakery, said: “We had interest from Australia to Abu Dhabi and everywhere in between and met some fantastic distributors that we would be honoured to work with.”
Dan MacKenzie, founder of All About Pet Health, reported heavy traffic to its stand at Interzoo. He said: “We had interest from all over Europe including Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, France, Germany and many more countries. We had the most interest in our soft chew products.”
Richard Marles from Park Life added: “We’ve got more leads than we can possibly follow up on, so the next few weeks will be all about carefully selecting long-term business partners to grow our business with. Most interest came from the Nordic region, Benelux, and Malta, where the natural ingredients and playful branding of our products was very well received.”
Amanda Sizer Barrett, director general of PetQuip, said: “The British Pavilion looked fabulous and we were the largest national group at the show. We are looking forward to helping the exhibitors with their follow-ups from the event and to helping our pet product member companies to seize many more export opportunities in the months to come.”

2020
Week 42: October 12-October 18
12:The United States Senate scrambles to begin the hasty vetting process for Trump’s newest pick for the Supreme Court, Judge Amy Coney Barrett. It’s not smooth sailing. On the second day of senate hearings, Texas Senator John Cornyn asks Barrett to hold up her notepad - it’s completely blank. Republicans celebrate this as evidence that she’s a brilliant jurist with a mind like a steel trap - so smart she doesn’t need to partake in something so mundane and academic as taking notes. But for Democrats it demonstrates her inexperience. It betrays the insincere and unserious nature of the vetting process. The case for Barrett’s brilliance is further diminished when she’s unable to answer a softball question. When asked to name the five freedoms guaranteed by the first amendment she forgets the right to protest. Makes sense - it hasn’t been very popular under the President who appointed her, Mr. Law-and-Order Trump.
The fact that this woman now sits in Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat is absolutely fucking galling. Like, they really thought this cutesy photo-op ‘gee ma, no notes’ stunt would make her look like a brilliant jurist - Susan Walsh/Pool
13: Across Indonesia, protesters take to the streets for the second week in a row. They object to a large omnibus bill that critics believe will hurt both workers and the environment. It will reduce severance pay and cut leave, allow longer working hours, and would allow employers to replace full-time positions with contact gigs and part-time work. They fear that the bill will allow for the destruction of primary rain forests. Indonesian forests are an important carbon-sink and help slow climate change. The government believe the bill is necessary to reinvigorate the country’s flagging economy and boost foreign investment. Police begin to arrest high-ranking members of an opposition group known as KAMI, accusing them of inciting riots and demonstrations.
14: The Hunter Biden laptop sideshow begins. A New York tabloid alleges that the Democratic presidential nominee Joseph Biden and his son have traded influence for money and engaged in corruption in the Ukraine. Their proof? Emails on a laptop supposedly abandoned by Hunter Biden at a computer repair shop in Delaware. The story was given to the publisher by Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Guiliani after he shopped it around to more reputable publishers first. Most refused - even right-leaning outlets like FOX - because of the story’s complete lack of credibility. Within hours the Washington Post will report that Guiliani was repeatedly targeted by Russia intelligence operations, hoping to spread disinformation.
At Tampa’s Luv Child restaurant, channels are set on the competing town hall events - Octavio Jones/Reuters
15: The government of Thailand bans gatherings of more than five people after yesterday’s continued pro-reform protests. Trump and Biden square off in competing town hall events after the week’s presidential debate is cancelled following the President’s COVID diagnosis. I can’t recap it any more succinctly than The Week who wrote: “The candidates' contrasting styles were on display, with Trump sparring with the moderator and Biden offering soothing policy proposals unlikely to endanger his polling lead.” Biden was asked about a controversial 1991 crime bill he authored that resulted in increased incarceration, especially for black men. He admitted that parts of the bill were a mistake. Listening to a politician admit to making mistakes felt soothing - that’s how low the bar is now set. On rivalling NBC, meanwhile, Trump is fighting with Savannah Guthrie who is surprisingly adept at countering his disinformation. He refuses to denounce QAnon and evades questions about his leaked tax returns, calling his $421m debt to unknown creditors ‘peanuts’. With the town halls airing simultaneously, it becomes a ratings battle and, within a few days, Biden is crowned the winner with nearly 4m more viewers than the incumbent President.
16: Every day, now, is accompanied by a flurry of COVID reports as countries caseloads climb. Czechia and Italy are now adding nearly 10k new cases each day, an all-time high for both countries. Malta implements a mask-mandate and Azerbaijan announces it will suspend public transportation and secondary schools in an effort to curb the spread the virus. The small Oceanic islands of Wallis and Fortuna, a french protectorate, record their first case of COVID-19. They were formerly the only COVID-free region under French administration.
17: Kiwis head to the polls for a national election, re-electing Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in a landslide. Ardern’s Labour Party is the first to win a majority since the proportional system was introduced in the mid-90s. New Zealand’s government’s handling of the virus has been pretty much the envy of the world - a long and heavy lockdown early during the crisis, paired with stringent travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines, has resulted in the country having virtually no community spread. Ardern’s successful handling of the virus is one of the things that propelled the young Prime Minister to such a resounding victory at the polls. Azerbaijan captures another city in their dispute with the majority-Armenian Artsakh province - Armenians, allegedly, retaliate by firing missiles at the Azeri city of Ganja, killing 13 civilians.
Under Jacinda Ardern’s leadership, New Zealand had seen only 25 death to COVID-19 by election day in mid-October. She handily won, securing a rare majority government - Hannah Peters/Getty Images
18: It’s another busy day so lets just rip through some headlines - wildfires in Colorado have forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes near Boulder. A judge blocked the White House’s efforts to end foot stamp benefits for 700,000 unemployed people - food insecurity in the United States has ballooned under the Trump administration. Food banks are feeling the strain of new customers as the economy contracted during 2020, shedding millions of jobs. And at a Michigan rally in yesterday, Trump warned the crowd against the state’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer. “Be careful of her and her attorney general because you know they’re like in charge of the ballot stuff”, he said. In a refrain of Trump’s 2016 refrain about Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, the crowd roars “Lock her up” and Trump replies “Lock ‘em all up”. In an Interview, today, Whitmer told press “It’s incredibly disturbing that the president of the United States, 10 days after a plot to kidnap, put me on trial and execute me ... is at it again ... inciting this kind of domestic terrorism”. Trump’s daughter-in-law and campaign surrogate Lara Trump claims he was merely having some fun.

Abortion Ruling In Poland Leads To Nightly Protests
By Zoe Huber, University at Albany, SUNY Class of 2020
November 11, 2020
Nightly protests are occurring in Poland after the Constitutional Tribunal, the country’s court, made the already strict abortion laws even stricter. Following Communist rule with laxer abortion laws, in 1993 the legislature illegalized abortion except in cases of rape, incest, if the mother’s life is at risk, or if there are fetal abnormalities. This law has not been changed until now, with the exception for fetal abnormalities gone.[1] This makes a huge difference in the number of abortions, since most abortions in the country are for this reason. In 2019, 97% of abortions were for cases with a high likelihood of incurable disease or severe fetal impairment.[2]
Even before the ruling, it was hard to get an abortion in Poland. Every year, about 150,000 people leave Poland to get abortions in nearby countries, like Slovakia, where Polish-speaking nurses work in abortion clinics. Doctors in Poland can be hesitant to perform abortions that are legal, because of religious reasons or for fear of breaking the law. By restricting access to abortion, this ruling will worsen the issue, according to deputy-marshal of the Parliament, MałgorzataKidawaBłońska.[2]
In the recent ruling, the court rules that abortion for fetal abnormalities are a type of “eugenic” The court said that allowing “eugenic practices” in this field, and determining whether a child has the right to life based on their health is illegal discrimination, and “violate[s] the constitutional guarantees for human life.”[2]
Because of the ruling, Poland is now the hardest place to get an abortion in the European Union, not including very small states, like Malta, or states where abortion is illegal. The ruling goes against public opinion.[2] Although Poles think abortion should only be allowed in rare circumstances, a recent poll showed that 59% thought it should be allowed “when the fetus is permanently and irreversibly damaged.”[1]
This isn’t the first time the ruling party in Poland, the Law and Justice party, has tried to tighten abortion restrictions. The party has pushed for it since taking power in 2015, and discussed banning abortion entirely in 2016, but mass protests in Warsaw and other cities caused them to drop the issue. Now, they have been able to restrict it through the courts through controversial means of getting conservative judges appointed. Ever since the party took power, they have “purge[d] the top court and restock[ed] its bench with conservative judges, using mechanisms that the opposition says are norm-breaking and extra-constitutional.” The party defends itself by saying that this allows the government to be more responsive to voters, since the Law and Justice Party keeps getting elected majorities in Parliament. However, according the executive branch of the European Union, the European Commission, “there is a systemic threat to the rule of law in Poland” because of the party’s actions.[2]
This controversy is strikingly similar to the current controversy about the United States Supreme Court involving the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett, which some feel was inappropriate. This has led to Democratic propositions to pack to court or introduce term limits, equally controversial proposals.
