PM At Ram Temple Inauguration Today, History At Ayodhya
The consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, a 50-year-project of the BJP and long awaited by many, will take place today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fly to Ayodhya to participate in the ceremony, which will be telecast live.
Here are the top 10 updates on this big story The consecration ceremony will be celebrated across the country and Indians abroad with special prayers and various programmes at local temples. The occasion has been hailed as a Diwali -- the festivities that marked Lord Ram's homecoming after the battle with Ravan and temples and houses have been strung with festive lighting. PM Modi has been observing a series of strict 11-day religious rituals to prepare for the consecration ceremony at noon. He will also address the gathering on the occasion, read a statement from his office.
"The historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony will be attended by representatives of all major spiritual and religious sects of the country. People from all walks of life including representatives of various tribal communities will also attend the ceremony," read the statement.
PM Modi will interact with labourers who have been building the Ram temple. He would also visit Kuber Tila, where the ancient temple of Lord Shiv has been restored, and offer prayers. The 380x250 feet temple is being built in the traditional north-Indian Nagara style. Its 392 pillars, 44 doors and walls have elaborate carvings of gods and goddesses. The idol of five-year-old Lord Ram has been placed at the sanctum sanctorum. The Kuber Tila stands at the southwestern part of the complex. Near the temple is a well (Sita koop), believed to be dating back to the ancient era.
Various leaders of the BJP and its ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have already been camping out at Ayodhya, which has prepared to receive over 11,000 visitors. Over the last weeks, the sleepy temple town has had an international airport and a renovated railway station. Hotels, guest houses and homestays have mushroomed, bursting it at the seams and bringing in the long awaited economic boom.
The opening of the Ram temple -- which has been at the heart of a decades-long political storm -- has been cold-shouldered by most Opposition parties including the Congress, Left, Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party, which accused the BJP of gaining political mileage from religion on an election year. The BJP has hit back, censuring all who declined the invite, including the Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Calling the parties anti-Hindu, the BJP has declared that they will get their punishment from the people at the hustings.
The event has also drawn other controversies -- including the one that involves the Shankaracharyes of four premier monasteries staying away. The Puri and Joshimath Shankaracharyas have said consecration of an incomplete temple cannot be held. They have also questioned why PM Modi will be inside the sanctum sanctorum when the Shankaracharyas have been allotted seats outside. The event, they have alleged, is being given a political angle.
The building of the temple started after the Supreme Court, in a landmark judgment of 2019, awarded the disputed land for a temple and asked that Muslims be given an alternate plot for a mosque. The matter, which went to court shortly after Independence, had escalated after hundreds of Karsevaks razed a 16th Century mosque on the site, believing it was built over a temple marking the birthplace of Lord Ram.

"Nothing To Do With Hinduism", Rahul Gandhi Hits Out At BJP At Paris Event
Rahul Gandhi's jabs invited a predictably furious response with BJP Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya taunting his rival for "crying… while Bharat achieves global consensus" - a reference to the the weekend's G20 meet.
New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Sunday, declaring neither “have nothing to do with Hinduism” and that “there is nothing Hindu about what the BJP does…”. Mr Gandhi was at an event in France on Sunday, when he said, “I have read the Gita, a number of the Upanishads and many Hindu books… absolutely nothing Hindu about it (the BJP)… “
“I have not read anywhere in any Hindu book, or heard from any learned Hindu person, that you should terrorise or harm people weaker than you. This idea… this word — ‘Hindu nationalist’ — this is a wrong word. They are not ‘Hindu nationalists’… they have nothing to do with Hinduism,” Mr Gandhi emphasised.
Interacting with students at Paris’ Sciences PO University, he ripped into the government, which has been widely criticised for suppressing opposition leaders’ voices within the country, accusing them of being “out to gain power at any cost”.
“They (BJP and RSS) have nothing to do with Hinduism. They are out to gain power at any cost… and will do anything to ensure the caste structure and social structure of my country is not threatened,” he said.
“They seek the dominance of a few… that is what they are about.”
Mr Gandhi’s comments came after a question about the “scary radicalisation of youth by Hindutva forces”. This is not the first time he has attacked the BJP on this topic. In 2021, he called them “fake Hindus” who “use” religion for their benefit.
The jabs invited a predictably furious response with BJP Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya taunting his rival for “crying… while Bharat achieves global consensus” — a reference to the “100 per cent” declaration from the weekend’s G20 meet.
The very fact Rahul Gandhi thinks Hinduism is practiced by referring to ‘books’ shows how shallow his understanding of our dharma,” Mr Surya gloated on X (formerly Twitter).
“That he has been reduced to crying before a handful of people in some far away European city, while Bharat is achieving global consensus at G20, is telling of how the nation has rejected his brand of politics in the last decade,” he declared. And Then The ‘Sanatan Dharm’ Row
Mr Gandhi’s jabs also come amid a fight over Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comment about ‘Sanatan Dharm’, which the BJP and right-wing commentators have claimed is a “call for the genocide of people with Sanatan thoughts”.
Earlier this month Mr Stalin said, “Sanatana (Dharma) ought to be eradicated like malaria, dengue and mosquito…”
An apoplectic BJP hit back, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several members of his cabinet and party targeting him. Mr Stalin was even the target of a ₹ 10 crore bounty allegedly issued by a temple priest in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya.
Mr Gandhi has not, so far, responded directly to this controversy, although his party has, flip-flopping between support and criticism. Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge disavowed any religion that does not treat all people as equals. However, Congress boss Mallikarjun Kharge, his father, seemed to want distance, declaring “there is no need to mix religion, politics”.

Best IRCTC Religious tourism packages in India
The diversity of people from various religions makes India a ‘land of faith.’ Wherever you travel an essence of spirituality, dharma will greet you. Hindus make up close to 80 percent of the total population and thus the Hindu festivals are celebrated with great zeal and exuberance. One of the most sacred Hindu festivals celebrated in India is the Shri Jagannath Yatra. Also popular as the Rath Yatra or Chariot Festival, it is one of the most ancient and popular Hindu festivals in India. It is celebrated every year with great fervour in the coastal city of Puri in the eastern state of Odisha, the home of Lord Jagannath. The festival commemorates the journey of Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra, and his younger sister Goddess Subhadra from their temple to their aunt’s temple, Gundicha Mandir, about 3 km away. The festival is a symbol of the love and bond between the divine siblings and their devotees.
Apart from Odisha, The Jagannath festival is also celebrated in Ahmedabad with great warmth and zeal. It is considered as the second-largest congregation for the festival in the country after Odisha. IRCTC is running dedicated trains to Puri to facilitate people visiting the state.
PURI GANGASAGAR WITH BAIDYANATH AND GAYA DARSHAN (WZBGI10).
The 8 Nights & 9 Days package starts at an economical price of 14950, which covers destinations like:
Puri: Jagannath Puri Temple, Konark Temple, Lingaraj Temple
Kolkata: Kali Mata Temple & Ganga Sagar
Jasidih: Baba Baidyanath dham Jyotirlinga Temple
Gaya: Vishnupad Temple and Bodhgaya
This train is a good option to travel to Puri to witness Shri Jagannath Yatra.
Similarly, the GARVI GUJARAT (CDBG09) is a Deluxe AC tourist train, covering prominent religious and heritage tourist sites including the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. This tour will showcase three significant temples of Gujarat i.e. Somnath, Nageshwar Jyotirling, and Dwarkadhish temple.
Religious tourism is a great stress buster and a way to find oneself. In India, most states have their own religious hotspot. South India is a hub of religious centers along with being a most-favoured tourist destination. A great option to travel to Shri Rameshwaram Mallikarjun Dakshin Bharat Yatra is DAKSHIN BHARAT DARSHAN BY BHARAT GAURAV TOURIST TRAIN. IRCTC offers an 11 Nights/12 Days package that covers destinations like KANYAKUMARI / MEENAKSHI TEMPLE / RAMESWARAM / TIRUPATI / TRIVANDRUM starting at 21,300 per person.
Jyotirlingas are highly revered by followers of the Hindu religion. IRCTC has come up with Jyotirlinga Bhakti Yatra to make such religious pursuits easy. IRCTC Tourism’s Bharat Gaurav Jyotirlinga Yatra train’s journey starts from Kolkata, travels through Ujjain- Statue of Unity- Somnath Jyotirlinga- Dwarka- Shirdi- Trimbakeshwar and reaches back to Kolkata. The package starts at an economical price of 20,060 per person. There are various special trains that have itineraries planned to suit the requirements of religious tourism.
Witnessing the Shri Jagannath Yatra, where idols are brought out of the temple and taken through huge chariots to her aunt's place with resonating sounds of drums, conch shells, and bells accompanied by thousands of people from all around the globe, pulling the chariots is awe-inspiring. Log on to www.irctctourism.com to know more about the packages and details. It’s easier with the IRCTC mobile application.

The Mallikarjun Temple, in the sleepy village of Loni Bhapkar, is situated on the bank of the river Karha, a tributary of the river Nira about 80km SE of Pune. The temple complex consists of the Mallikarjuna Temple presently dedicated to Shiva, the Sri Datta Maharaj Mandir dedicated to Dattatreya (Vishnu), both facing an elegant small step-well known locally as Puskarni. The Puskarni is beautifully proportioned, surrounded by a stone wall with 24 niches (devkoshatas) facing the tank. Each one of these niches probably once contained one of 24 images of Vyuhantara Vishnus. It’s wonderfully peaceful, the sort of place you could just sit and be alone for hours. The symmetry of the Puskarni is amplified by a wonderfully carved pavilion directly in front of the white Sri Datta Maharaj Mandir. Currently located near the roadside is an isolated Varaha (Yadnyavaraha) statue, sadly now missing his nose. Below the legs of the boar is a conch, lotus, mace, and disk - all items associated with Vishnu. Lying beneath appears to be a demon begging for mercy, but this part of the carving is also quite badly damaged. Covering the body of the Varaha are repetitive images of Vishnu, a local told me in the village that there are over 140 instances of his image on the boar. Discovered in a nearby field in 1999, news of the find caused sudden interest in the temple complex, prior to this the site had escaped the attention of most scholars. The temple construction is believed to date back to the 13th century and attributed to Hemadpant (Hemādri Paṇḍit). As well as a scholar, theologian, poet and architect, Hemdapant was prime minister from 1259 to 1274, during the reigns of King Mahādev and Ramachandra, both of the Seuna Yādav dynasty who ruled over western and southern India. Hemadpant is attributed with the invention of constructing dry stone temples, using interlocking masonry without the need for mortar. He is thought to have been directly involved in the construction of several temples in Maharashtra, although the term “Hemadpant architecture” today merely refers to the building style rather than constructions that he personally instigated. #swiggywala #localguides @googlemaps https://www.instagram.com/p/CcA524_Pqhb/?utm_medium=tumblr
