Bushiri’s gospel of lies
It appears that self-proclaimed prophet and miracle worker Shepherd Bushiri lied about audit firm KPMG and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
Church members are also speaking out about how they invested millions of rand in a scheme that would see their money end up in Malawi.
The fugitive televangelist was charged with corruption and money laundering in 2020 but skipped South Africa after getting bail.
Last week, Bushiri claimed that the NPA’s Sbongile Mzinyathi flew to Malawi to defend him and not to argue for his extradition to South Africa.
The Department of Justice, however, did not take Bushiri’s comments lying down.
Spokesperson Chrispin Phiri said: “Rubbish! The NPA doesn’t defend people, it prosecutes them.”
So far, 17 people have confirmed to The Star that they deposited money in Bushiri’s investment programme and they didn’t see a cent in return.
On January 31, 2019, a criminal case of fraud was opened by Lindiwe Ngubane-Mbatha at the Sandton police station. Mbatha alleged that she attended an investment seminar in Sandton on March 18, 2017, at which Bushiri introduced a person known as “Landi” as the investment programme’s project manager. Mbatha claimed that she was cheated of a million rand by Bushiri.
KPMG, in a damning report, stated that at the said investment seminar Bushiri introduced people to the “Investment Programme”.
KPMG did not mention a company called Rising Estate Limited. However last week, Bushiri said Rising Estate Limited was the beneficiary of the millions of rand.
The Hawks refuted Bushiri, saying their information proved that close to R200 million “was sent to Malawi through different mechanisms” and that Rising Estate Limited, a company Bushiri invited as an investor, did nothing wrong.
Media outlet Malawi24 reported that Bushiri was purchasing a Boeing aircraft.
On arrival in Malawi, Bushiri was photographed with a Porsche, Rolls-Royce and other luxury cars.
According to the KPMG report, Bushiri announced an investment opportunity during his sermon in 2017. He explained that the investment scheme was called the “Shepherd Bushiri Trading Platform” and described the investment to relate to commodity and forex trading.

The Daily Tulip
The Daily Tulip – News From Around The World
Thursday 18th January 2018
Good Morning Gentle Reader…. Still very cold, but no complaints as it’s dry, Bella is in the rudest of health, as I put my jacket on she is standing at the door eager to go explore with me… She’s just had her 3rd birthday, amazing how fast time passes, seems like only yesterday, when we picked her up, a little 3 kilo bundle of Labrador that seemingly turned into a 43 kilo amazingly beautiful female Lab overnight… Bella is my constant companion, following me everywhere I go, if I have to get bread, she comes with me, petrol for the car, she’s there, typing the Tulip of Thistle, she’s laying on the floor with her head on my foot… and when it comes to lunch, trust me she’s right there….
MARKS & SPENCER IN ENGLAND TO STOP SELLING 'CAULIFLOWER STEAK'…. Marks and Spencer says it will stop selling its "cauliflower steak" after shoppers mocked the product. The veggie steak - two slices of cauliflower and a lemon and herb drizzle - was being sold for £2. Customers argued a whole cauliflower could be bought for £1 in its shops and raised concerns about excess packaging. An M&S spokeswoman said: "We work hard to create quick and convenient meals for customers; however on this occasion we didn't get it right." Shoppers have also been questioning the plastic wrapping on a coconut sold by Sainsbury's. The cauliflower steak was part of the new M&S' Veggie range and after an introductory offer, which reduced the price by 20%, it would have cost £2.50.
MIKHAIL POPKOV, RUSSIAN EX-COP, ON TRIAL FOR 59 MURDERS…. A former Russian policeman who was convicted of killing 22 women has gone on trial in the Siberian city of Irkutsk for dozens of other murders. Mikhail Popkov, 53, has confessed to 59 additional murders between 1992 and 2010, Interfax news agency reports. If convicted, that would make him Russia's most prolific serial killer in recent history. He has been dubbed "the werewolf" and the "Angarsk maniac" by Russian media. Popkov is serving a life sentence after being convicted in 2015 of raping and killing 22 women, and attempting to murder two more.
BOTSWANA SHUTS 'MIRACLE' PASTOR SHEPHERD BUSHIRI'S CHURCH…. Botswana has shut down the church of a controversial Malawian self-styled prophet, who claimed to walk on air. The government confirmed the closure of Shepherd Bushiri's Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG) in Gaborone, reportedly due to concerns over so-called "miracle money". Malawi24 reports that the church has appealed against the decision, taken less than a year after he was in effect banned from entering the country. He had been due to attend a conference. However, Botswana minister Edwin Batshu announced in April 2017 that Mr Bushiri - who now lives in South Africa - would need a visa to enter, despite Malawians not usually needing one, according to AllAfrica.com.
AUSTRALIA'S ICONIC VIOLET CRUMBLE CHOCOLATE BACK IN LOCAL OWNERSHIP…. Australia's version of the Crunchie bar, Violet Crumble, has been sold by Swiss giant Nestle to an Australian-owned firm. Adelaide chocolate-maker Robern Menz bought the iconic local favourite for an undisclosed sum. While its honeycomb centre makes it similar to the better-known Crunchie, Violet Crumble is the older sweet. Cadbury's Crunchie dates back to about 1929, while the Violet Crumble bar was first produced in 1913. The sale not only brings the confectionery back under Australian ownership, but also returns it to South Australia, where it was produced by manufacturer Rowntree Hoadley until the mid 1980s.
A NATION OF BOOZERS: THE DRINKING OF KIWIS OVER 50 IS GETTING WORSE…. New Zealanders 50 and over are drinking more excessively and frequently than adults in other countries. A recently released report shows New Zealand has the second highest proportion of 50-plus drinkers, compared with eight other countries – something that came as no surprise to one of the researchers. Massey University researcher Andy Towers, who worked on the study that found England to have the biggest boozers, said many New Zealanders aged 50-plus were heavy drinkers, as people adopted the English culture of excessive drinking. "I'm not surprised at all. We know from European studies that people in the United Kingdom drink a lot. We have imported the United Kingdom's drinking culture," the Manawatū-based researcher said. The report, commissioned by the Health Promotion Agency, analysed data from 3200 Kiwis and more than 62,000 similarly aged adults from United States, South Africa, China, Mexico, Ghana, India, Russia and England. Eighty-three per cent of New Zealanders indicated they drank alcohol at least once a year – the second highest after England at 87 per cent. India was the lowest at 16 per cent. The report also showed 18 per cent of Kiwi adults regularly drink heavily. Although China and South Africa ranked higher, at 31 per cent and 23 per cent, respectively, New Zealanders still had a high percentage of heavy drinkers, Towers said. Heavy drinkers are identified as having five or more drinks for men and three or more for women in one sitting.
Well Gentle Reader I hope you enjoyed our look at the news from around the world this, Thursday morning… …
Our Tulip today gives a glimpse into the heart…..
A Sincere Thank You for your company and Thank You for your likes and comments I love them and always try to reply, so please keep them coming, it's always good fun, As is my custom, I will go and get myself another mug of "Colombian" Coffee and wish you a safe Thursday 18th January 2018 from my home on the southern coast of Spain, where the blue waters of the Alboran Sea washes the coast of Africa and Europe and the smell of the night blooming Jasmine and Honeysuckle fills the air…and a crazy old guy and his dog Bella go out for a walk at 4:00 am…on the streets of Estepona…
All good stuff....But remember it’s a dangerous world we live in
Be safe out there…
