Mozambique's rubies: A blessing or a curse? | DW Documentary
youtube
In Mozambique, agriculture is the mainstay of the economy and the country has a great potential for growth in the sector. Agriculture employs more than 80 percent of the labour force and provides livelihoods to the vast majority of over 23 million inhabitants. Agriculture contributed 31.5 percent of the GDP in 2009, while commerce and services accounted for 44.9 percent. By contrast, 20 percent of the total export value in 2009 originated from the agriculture sector, mostly through the export of fish (mainly shrimps and prawns), timber, copra, cashew nuts and citrus, cotton, coconuts, tea and tobacco.[14]
There are large mineral deposits, but exploration has been constrained by the civil war (1977–1992) and poor infrastructure. The World Bank has estimated that there was the potential for exports worth US$200m by 2005 – in the late 1990s they totaled US$3.6m, some 1% of total exports, and a contribution of less than 2% of GDP. Minerals currently being mined include marble, bentonite, coal, gold, bauxite, granite, titanium and gemstones. Illegal exports from artisanal production are estimated at US$50 million.[original research?]
Mozambique exported its first batch of coal in 2011 and expects to become the world's largest coal exporter. It is also spending about US$50 billion in infrastructure projects to access its coal reserves. Mozambique is reported to have the fourth largest reserves of natural gas in the world, after Russia, Iran, and Qatar.[20]
The Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral[1] (Portuguese: Catedral Metropolitana de Nossa Senhora do Rosário) also called Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, is located in Beira,[2][3] a town in the African country of Mozambique[4] and is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Beira.
Beira is where the Pungwe River meets the Indian Ocean. It is the fourth-largest city by population in Mozambique, after Maputo, Matola and Nampula. Beira had a population of 397,368 in 1997, which grew to 530,604 in 2019. A coastal city, it holds the regionally significant Port of Beira, which acts as a gateway for both the central interior portion of the country as well as the land-locked nations of Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi.
A marina (from Spanish [maˈɾina], Portuguese [mɐˈɾinɐ] and Italian [maˈriːna]: "related to the sea") is a dock or basin with moorings and supplies for yachts and small boats. A marina differs from a port in that a marina does not handle large passenger ships or cargo from freighters.
A fishmonger (historically fishwife for female practitioners) is someone who sells raw fish and seafood. Fishmongers can be wholesalers or retailers and are trained at selecting and purchasing, handling, gutting, boning, filleting, displaying, merchandising and selling their product. In some countries modern supermarkets are replacing fishmongers who operate in shops or fish markets.

Gross national product (GNP) GNP is related to another important economic measure called gross domestic product (GDP), which takes into account all output produced within a country's borders regardless of who owns the means of production. GNP starts with GDP, adds residents' investment income from overseas investments, and subtracts foreign residents' investment income earned within a country. Whilst GDP measures the total value of goods and services produced within a country's borders, GNP focuses on the income generated by its residents, regardless of their location.
Gross National Income (GNI) is the total amount of money earned by a nation's people and businesses. It is used to measure and track a nation's wealth from year to year. The number includes the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) plus the income it receives from overseas sources.

Supporting Striker (Inverted Winger)
Central Winger (False 10)
Overlapping Run/Defensive Winger (Half-winger)
An inverted winger is a modern tactical development of the traditional winger position. Most wingers are assigned to either side of the field based on their footedness, with right-footed players on the right and left-footed players on the left.[65] This assumes that assigning a player to their natural side ensures a more powerful cross as well as greater ball protection along the touch-lines. However, when the position is inverted and a winger instead plays inside-out on the opposite flank (i.e., a right-footed player as a left inverted winger), they effectively become supporting strikers and primarily assume a role in the attack.[66]
The "false 10" or "central winger"[55] is a type of midfielder, which differs from the trequartista. Much like the "false 9", their specificity lies in the fact that, although they seemingly play as an attacking midfielder on paper, unlike a traditional playmaker who stays behind the striker in the centre of the pitch, the false 10's goal is to move out of position and drift wide when in possession of the ball to help both the wingers and fullbacks to overload the flanks. This means two problems for the opposing midfielders: either they let the false 10 drift wide, and their presence, along with both the winger and the fullback, creates a three-on-two player advantage out wide; or they follow the false 10, but leave space in the centre of the pitch for wingers or onrushing midfielders to exploit. False 10s are usually traditional wingers who are told to play in the centre of the pitch, and their natural way of playing makes them drift wide and look to provide deliveries into the box for teammates.
In Italian football, the term mezzala (literally "half-winger" in Italian) is used to describe the position of the one or two central midfielders who play on either side of a holding midfielder and/or playmaker. The term was initially applied to the role of an inside forward in the WM and Metodo formations in Italian, but later described a specific type of central midfielder. The mezzala is often a quick and hard-working attack-minded midfielder, with good skills and noted offensive capabilities, as well as a tendency to make overlapping attacking runs, but also a player who participates in the defensive aspect of the game, and who can give width to a team by drifting out wide; as such, the term can be applied to several different roles.
On occasion, the false-10 can also function in a different manner alongside a false-9, usually in a 4–6–0 formation. Midfield collective of False 9, False 10, Box to Box, Holding, Half Winger, Attacking, Defensive.
Thiago Motta’s ‘Super Offensive’ 2-7-2 Formation Explained: Instead of the traditional way of looking at a tactical set-up horizontally, the Brazil-born manager instead split the field into three vertical lanes. This means he effectively has seven players in the central channel with two players out wide on each flank.

The language emerged from contact between French settlers and enslaved Africans during the Atlantic slave trade in the French colony of Saint-Domingue (now Haiti) in the 17th and 18th centuries. Although its vocabulary largely derives from 18th-century French, its grammar is that of a West African Volta-Congo language branch, particularly the Fongbe and Igbo languages.

Go Go Music Influenced, Eurphoric Trance Chord Progression Melody, Progressive House and Drum n' Bass Percussion-808 Call and Response Staccato Polyrhythm or Layered Kick and Punch 808.
In his 1972 study of French lute music, scholar Wallace Rave compiled a list of features he believed to be characteristic of style brisé. Rave's list included the following: the avoidance of textural pattern and regularity in part writing; arpeggiated chord textures with irregular distribution of individual notes of the chord; ambiguous melodic lines; rhythmic displacement of notes within a melodic line; octave changes within melodic line; irregular phrase lengths.
Have the Snare and Kick say, "Hi, How are you?" And the 808 say, "I am good thanks for asking.”
Use progressive House to push the Drums Conversation to either Fast and Punchy for Happy or Slow and Deep for Sad.
In technical terms, "go-go's essential beat is characterized by a five through four syncopated rhythm that is underscored prominently by the bass drum and snare drum, and the hi-hat... [and] is ornamented by the other percussion instruments, especially by the conga drums, rototoms, and hand-held cowbells."[5]
Polyrhythm: In music, a cross-beat or cross-rhythm is a specific form of polyrhythm. The term cross rhythm was introduced in 1934 by the musicologist Arthur Morris Jones (1889–1980). It refers to a situation where the rhythmic conflict found in polyrhythms is the basis of an entire musical piece.[1]
Four-on-the-floor (or four-to-the-floor) is a rhythm used primarily in dance genres such as disco and electronic dance music. It is a steady, uniformly accented beat in 4. 4 time in which the bass drum is hit on every beat (1, 2, 3, 4).[1] This was popularized in the disco music of the 1970s[2] and the term four-on-the-floor was widely used in that era, since the beat was played with the pedal-operated, drum-kit bass drum.[3][4] (Punch 808-Kick)
Polyrhythm 4 on the Floor examples 2:4 or 5:4
Hard trance is often characterized by strong, hard (or even downpitch) kicks, fully resonant basses and an increased amount of reverberation applied to the main beat. Melodies vary from 140 to 180 BPMs and it can feature plain instrumental sound in early compositions, with the latter ones tending to implement side-chaining techniques of progressive on digital synthesizers.

Commercialism is the application of both manufacturing and consumption towards personal usage, or the practices, methods, aims, and distribution of products in a free market geared toward generating a profit.
Commercial art is art created for advertising or marketing purposes. Commercial artists are hired by clients to create images and logos that sell products. Unlike works of fine art that convey an artist's personal expression, commercial art must address the client's goals.
The word 'Commercial' is defined as follows: Concerned with or engaged in commerce. Commerce is the exchange of goods or services among two or more parties.
Craftsmen are committed to the medium, not to self-expression. Artists are committed to their self-expression, not the medium.
A medium of exchange is an intermediary instrument and system used to facilitate the purchase and sale of goods and services between parties.

IMPERIALISM, THE HIGHEST STAGE OF CAPITALISM
Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism,[1] originally published as Imperialism, the Newest Stage of Capitalism,[2][3] is a book written by Vladimir Lenin in 1916 and published in 1917. It describes the formation of oligopoly, by the interlacing of bank and industrial capital, in order to create a financial oligarchy, and explains the function of financial capital in generating profits from the exploitation colonialism inherent to imperialism, as the final stage of capitalism. The essay synthesises Lenin's developments of Karl Marx's theories of political economy in Das Kapital (1867).[4]

A clay-court specialist is a tennis player who excels on clay courts, more than on any other surface.
Due in part to advances in racquet technology, current clay-court specialists are known for employing long, winding groundstrokes that generate heavy topspin; such strokes are less effective on faster surfaces on which the balls do not bounce as high. Clay-court specialists tend to slide more effectively on clay than other players. Many of them are also very adept at hitting the drop shot, which can be effective because rallies on clay courts often leave players pushed far beyond the baseline. Additionally, the slow, long rallies require a great degree of mental focus and physical stamina.

For almost three centuries, thousands of young boys and girls were raised by Casa Pia, including many public personalities, called casapianos. Casa Pia is Portugal's largest educational institution dedicated to helping youngsters in risk of social exclusion or without parental support. The organisation is composed of ten schools and enrolls approximately 4700 students. In addition to standard schooling, the organisation also provides boarding for children in need. It strives to enable these youngsters to become healthy and successful members of society, by developing intellectual, manual, and physical traits, in an environment promoting spiritual, moral, and religious values. The institution is proud to have had amongst its students many outstanding Portuguese personalities, including politicians, journalists, and artists. A martyrology is a catalogue or list of martyrs and other saints and beati arranged in the calendar order of their anniversaries or feasts. Local martyrologies record exclusively the custom of a particular Church. Local lists were enriched by names borrowed from neighbouring churches.[1] Consolidation occurred, by the combination of several local martyrologies, with or without borrowings from literary sources.
The Canons Regular of St. Augustine are priests who live in community under a rule (Latin: regula and κανών, kanon, in Greek) and are generally organised into religious orders, differing from both secular canons and other forms of religious life, such as clerics regular, designated by a partly similar terminology. As religious communities, they have laybrothers as part of the community.
Clerics regular are clerics (mostly priests) who are members of a religious order under a rule of life (regular). Clerics regular differ from canons regular in that they devote themselves more to pastoral care, in place of an obligation to the praying of the Liturgy of the Hours in common, and have fewer observances in their rule of life.
Lay brother is a largely extinct term referring to religious brothers, particularly in the Catholic Church, who focused upon manual service and secular matters, and were distinguished from choir monks or friars in that they did not pray in choir, and from clerics, in that they were not in possession of (or preparing for) holy orders.[1][2][3][4][5]
In female religious institutes, the equivalent role is the lay sister. Lay brothers were originally created to allow those who were skilled in particular crafts or did not have the required education to study for holy orders to participate in and contribute to the life of a religious order.
Lay brothers were found in many religious orders. Drawn from the working classes, they were pious and hardworking people, who though unable to achieve the education needed to receive holy orders, were still drawn to religious life and were able to contribute to the order through their skills. Some were skilled in artistic handicrafts, others functioned as administrators of the orders' material assets. In particular, the lay brothers of the Cistercians were skilled in agriculture, and have been credited for the tilling of fertile farmland.[1]
Lay sisters were found in most of the orders of women, and their origin, like that of the lay brothers, is to be found in the necessity of providing the choir nuns with more time for the Office and study, as well as creating the opportunity for the illiterate to join the religious life. They, too, wore a habit different from those of the choir sisters, and their required daily prayers consisted of prayers such as the Little Office or a certain number of Paters.[1]
All canons regular are to be distinguished from secular canons who belong to a resident group of priests but who do not take public vows and are not governed in whatever elements of life they lead in common by a historical rule. One obvious place where such groups of priests are required is at a cathedral, where there were many Masses to celebrate and the Divine Office to be prayed together in community.
In modern astrology, Mars is the primary native ruler of the first house. Traditionally however, Mars ruled both the third and tenth houses, and had its joy in the fifth house. While Venus tends to the overall relationship atmosphere, Mars is the passionate impulse and action, the masculine aspect, discipline, willpower and stamina.
Mars rules over Tuesday and in Romance languages the word for Tuesday often resembles Mars (in Romanian, marți, in Spanish, martes, in French, mardi and in Italian "martedì"). The English "Tuesday" is a modernised form of "Tyr's Day", Tyr being the Germanic analogue to Mars. Dante Alighieri associated Mars with the liberal art of arithmetic. In Chinese astrology, Mars is ruled by the element fire, which is passionate, energetic and adventurous.
According to John Clements, the term martial arts itself is derived from an older Latin term meaning "arts of Mars", the Roman god of war, and was used to refer to the combat systems of Europe (European martial arts) as early as the 1550s
A religious congregation is a type of religious institute in the Catholic Church. They are legally distinguished from religious orders – the other major type of religious institute – in that members take simple vows, whereas members of religious orders take solemn vows.
In the Catholic Church, a religious order is a community of consecrated life with members that profess solemn vows. They are classed as a type of religious institute.[1]

Material religion is a framework used by scholars of religion to examine the interaction between religion and material culture. It focuses on the place of objects, images, spaces, and buildings in religious communities. The framework has been promoted by scholars such as Birgit Meyer, Sally Promey, S. Brent Plate, David Morgan, etc.
Physiocracy (French: physiocratie; from the Greek for "government of nature") is an economic theory developed by a group of 18th-century Age of Enlightenment French economists who believed that the wealth of nations derived solely from the value of "land agriculture" or "land development" and that agricultural products should be highly priced.[1] Their theories originated in France and were most popular during the second half of the 18th century. Physiocracy became one of the first well-developed theories of economics.
The Bible typically describes the Heavenly host as being made up of angels, and gives several descriptions of angels in military terms, such as their encampment (Genesis 32:1–2), command structure (Psalms 91:11–12; Matt.13:41; Rev.7:2), and participation in combat (Job 19:12; Rev.12:7). Other passages indicate other entities make up the divine army, namely stars (Judges 5:20, Isaiah 40:26).[1][full citation needed] In Christian theology, the heavenly host participate in the war in Heaven.
The doctrine or theory of immanence holds that the divine encompasses or is manifested in the material world. It is held by some philosophical and metaphysical theories of divine presence. Immanence is usually applied in monotheistic, pantheistic, pandeistic, or panentheistic faiths to suggest that the spiritual world permeates the mundane.
The Dionysian Mysteries were a ritual of ancient Greece and Rome which sometimes used intoxicants and other trance-inducing techniques (like dance and music) to remove inhibitions and social constraints, liberating the individual to return to a natural state.
Religious nationalism can be understood in a number of ways, such as nationalism as a religion itself, a position articulated by Carlton Hayes in his text Nationalism: A Religion, or as the relationship of nationalism to a particular religious belief, dogma, ideology, or affiliation. This relationship can be broken down into two aspects: the politicisation of religion and the influence of religion on politics.
Dioceses ruled by an archbishop are commonly referred to as archdioceses; most are metropolitan sees, being placed at the head of an ecclesiastical province. In the Catholic Church, some are suffragans of a metropolitan see or are directly subject to the Holy See.
The body of light, sometimes called the 'astral body'[a] or the 'subtle body,'[b] is a "quasi material"[1] aspect of the human body, being neither solely physical nor solely spiritual, posited by a number of philosophers, and elaborated on according to various esoteric, occult, and mystical teachings. Other terms used for this body include body of glory,[2] spirit-body, luciform body, augoeides ('radiant body'), astroeides ('starry or sidereal body'), and celestial body.[3] The concept derives from the philosophy of Plato: the word 'astral' means 'of the stars'; thus the astral plane consists of the Seven Heavens of the classical planets. The idea is rooted in common worldwide religious accounts of the afterlife[4] in which the soul's journey or "ascent" is described in such terms as "an ecstatic, mystical or out-of body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in their body of light into 'higher' realms."[5]
The canon law of the Catholic Church (from Latin ius canonicum[1]) is "how the Church organizes and governs herself".[2] It is the system of laws and ecclesiastical legal principles made and enforced by the hierarchical authorities of the Catholic Church to regulate its external organization and government and to order and direct the activities of Catholics toward the mission of the Church.
An institute of consecrated life is an association of faithful in the Catholic Church canonically erected by competent church authorities to enable men or women who publicly profess the evangelical counsels by religious vows or other sacred bonds "through the charity to which these counsels lead to be joined to the Church and its mystery in a special way".[1] They are defined in the 1983 Code of Canon Law under canons 573–730. The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life has ecclesial oversight of institutes of consecrated life.[2]
In Christianity, the three evangelical counsels, or counsels of perfection, are chastity (NEVER), poverty (or perfect charity), and obedience (RECKLESS ABANDONMENT).[1] As stated by Jesus in the canonical gospels,[2] they are counsels for those who desire to become "perfect" (τελειος, teleios).[3][4] The Catholic Church interprets this to mean that they are not binding upon all, and hence not necessary conditions to attain eternal life (heaven), but that they are "acts of supererogation", "over and above" the minimum stipulated in the biblical commandments.[5][6]
Catholics who have made a public profession to order their lives by the evangelical counsels, and confirmed this by public vows before their competent church authority (the act of religious commitment known as a profession), are recognised as members of the consecrated life.
The Council of Trent (Latin: Concilium Tridentinum), held between 1545 and 1563 in Trent (or Trento), now in northern Italy, was the 19th ecumenical council of the Catholic Church. Prompted by the Protestant Reformation at the time, it has been described as the embodiment of the Counter-Reformation. The Council issued key statements and clarifications of the Church's doctrine and teachings, including scripture, the biblical canon, sacred tradition, original sin, justification, salvation, the sacraments, the Mass, and the veneration of saints[4] and also issued condemnations of what it defined to be heresies committed by proponents of Protestantism. The consequences of the Council were also significant with regard to the Church's liturgy and censorship.
Initiated in part to address the challenges of the Protestant Reformations,[3] the Counter-Reformation was a comprehensive effort arising from the decrees of the Council of Trent. The effort produced apologetic and polemical documents, heresy trials, anti-corruption efforts, spiritual movements, the promotion of new religious orders, and the flourishing of new art and musical styles.
Tradwave is a Catholic artistic style using synthwave and vaporwave art to promote traditional catholicism. Tradwave usually uses traditional catholic paintings, sculptures, or photographs of saints, given with vaporwave effects, often with a bible verse or quote about catholicism. The art usually tries to convey a resurrection of catholic spirituality in the modern atheist world. Figures often depicted in Tradwave art include Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, Ven. Fulton Sheen, Cardinal Robert Sarah, and Mother Angelica.
Tradwave music often takes the form of two main styles. One of them is catholic hymns with vaporwave effects and traditional Vaporwave/Lo-Fi music. It can also have quotes from modern prolific Catholic figures, such as Ven. The other theme is Fulton Sheen and Cardinal Robert Sarah.
Heavenly Virtues: Another phrase to describe this obedience to the voice is “reckless abandon.” It simply means that we let God do what God wants to do through us. It means if He tells us to do something or say something—we do it.
Intercession or intercessory prayer is the act of praying to a deity on behalf of others, or asking a saint in heaven to pray on behalf of oneself or for others. Intercession of the Saints is a Christian doctrine that maintains that saints can intercede for others. To intercede is to go or come between two parties, to plead before one of them on behalf of the other. In ecclesiastical usage both words are taken in the sense of the intervention primarily of Christ, and secondarily of the Blessed Virgin and the angels and saints, on behalf of men.[2] The doctrine is held by the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East, the Oriental Orthodox churches , and some Lutherans and Anglicans (chiefly those of Evangelical Catholic or Anglo-Catholic churchmanship, respectively).[3] The practice of asking saints for their intercession can be found in Christian writings from the 3rd century onwards.[4][5][6] Catholic doctrine supports intercessory prayer to saints. This practice is an application of the doctrine of the Communion of saints. Some of the early basis for this was the belief that martyrs passed immediately into the presence of God and could obtain graces and blessings for others, which naturally and immediately led to their direct invocation. A further reinforcement was derived from the cult of the angels which, while pre-Christian in its origin, was heartily embraced by the faithful of the sub-Apostolic age. The doctrine of intercession and invocation was set forth by the Council of Trent, which teaches that "... the saints who reign together with Christ offer up their own prayers to God for men. It is good and useful suppliantly to invoke them, and to have recourse to their prayers, aid, and help for obtaining benefits from God, through His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, Who alone is our Redeemer and Saviour".[10] Intercessory prayer to saintly persons who have not yet been beatified can also practiced by individuals, and evidence of miracles produced as a result of such prayer is very commonly produced during the formal process of beatification and canonization.
In short, the gun-toting angel was a multifaceted metaphor. “It undoubtedly also reflected the Catholic Counter-Reformation militaristic rhetoric,” wrote Donahue-Wallace, “which promoted the church as an army and heavenly beings as its soldiers.” These "Harquebusier Angels" or "Arcabuceros" are full-length depictions of winged angels, elaborately dressed, and carrying matchlock guns (harquebuses).
The related term astrolatry usually implies polytheism. In anthropological literature these systems of practice may be referred to as astral cults.
A friar is a member of one of the mendicant orders in the Roman Catholic Church. There are also friars outside of the Roman Catholic Church, such as within the Anglican Communion. The term, first used in the 12th or 13th century, distinguishes the mendicants' itinerant apostolic character, exercised broadly under the jurisdiction of a superior general, from the older monastic orders' allegiance to a single monastery formalized by their vow of stability. A friar may be in holy orders or be a non-ordained brother. The most significant orders of friars are the Dominicans, Franciscans, Augustinians, and Carmelites.[1]
Romans 8:31; Exploring Biblical Imagery is one of the most important keys to interpreting and gaining a deeper understanding of the Bible. The Bible often communicates truth to us through images and patterns.
Throughout history, armed priests or soldier priests have been recorded. Distinguished from military chaplains, who are non-combatants that provided spiritual guidance to service personnel and associated civilians, these priests took up arms and fought in conflicts as combatants. The term warrior priests or war priests is usually used for armed priests in Antiquity and the Middle Ages, and of historical tribes.
Slang: In Romans 8:5-8, Paul presents a compelling contrast between living according to the flesh and living according to the Spirit. The flesh, with its disordered desires and rebellion against God, leads only to spiritual desolation. Martyr, one who voluntarily suffers death rather than deny their religion by words or deeds; such action is afforded special, institutionalized recognition in most major religions of the world. The term may also refer to anyone who sacrifices their life or something of great value for the sake of principle. A religious allusion is a brief reference to a person, event, place, or phrase from religious texts or traditions, without describing them in detail. 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. Martyr/Romans 8 Allusion Slang.
The Roman Martyrology is an official liturgical book of the Catholic Church, with ancient origins, that lists the martyrs, confessors, virgins, and other saints, each on his or her dies natalis, or birthday into eternal life, as well as major feasts of Our Lord and Our Lady.
The Roman Martyrology is also central to the Divine Office or Liturgy of the Hours—a daily set of prayers marking the hours of each day and sanctifying it with worship. During the Office of Readings, specific entries from the martyrology are recited to inform and inspire those in prayer.
Romeu e Julieta (Casapianos Order 1996 Adaptation 18+ Romance Thriller)
While it retains the original Shakespearean dialogue, the film represents the Montagues and the Capulets as warring mafia empires (with legitimate business fronts) and the Capulets were "a Latin family, sort of,"[15] played by Latin-American and Italian actors.[16] It is set in contemporary United States, where swords are replaced by guns[17] (with model names such as "Dagger", "Sword", and "Rapier"), and with a FedEx-style overnight delivery service called "Post Haste".[18] Shakespeare and Impure Aesthetics explores ideas about art implicit in Shakespeare's plays and defines specific Shakespearean aesthetic practices in his use of desire, death and mourning as resources for art. In fiction, a subplot or side story is a secondary strand of the plot that is a supporting side story for any story or for the main plot. Subplots may connect to main plots, in either time and place or thematic significance. Subplots often involve supporting characters, those besides the protagonist or antagonist. Subplots may also intertwine with the main plot at some point in a story.[1]
THE ENCYCLICAL PASSIONARIES ABOUT YHVH CASAPIANOS (MARTYROLOGY BIBLE)
Specifically, the royal psalms deal with the spiritual role of kings in the worship of Yahweh. Aside from that single qualification, there is nothing else which specifically links the ten psalms. Each of the psalms make explicit references to their subject, the king. Royal (messianic) psalms deal with the king as God's anointed or chosen one. Many are prayers for the wisdom of the king, his long life or success in battle. Some are prophetic in nature in that they also point to the ideal future king, the Messiah or the King of kings. Simple martyrologies only enumerate names. Historical martyrologies, also sometimes called passionaries, also include stories or biographical details. (Reckless Abandonment; Mars Shamanism and Casa Pia Wing Transfer Invocation)
The term "revolutionary martyr" usually relates to those dying in revolutionary struggle.[50][51] During the 20th century, the concept was developed in particular in the culture and propaganda of communist or socialist revolutions, although it was and is also used in relation to nationalist revolutions. In the martyrdom narrative of the remembering community, this refusal to comply with the presented demands results in the punishment or execution of an individual by an oppressor. Accordingly, the status of the 'martyr' can be considered a posthumous title as a reward for those who are considered worthy of the concept of martyrdom by the living, regardless of any attempts by the deceased to control how they will be remembered in advance.[1] Insofar, the martyr is a relational figure of a society's boundary work that is produced by collective memory.[2] Originally applied only to those who suffered for their religious beliefs, the term has come to be used in connection with people killed for a political cause. (Armed Friars and The War for Central Africa between Casapianos and The French; The Fall of Yoruba for Bembé; Arcubusier Angels in Africa)
The Metal Ages is a term for the period of human civilization beginning about 6,000 years ago during which metallurgy rapidly advanced, and human populations started using metals such as copper, tin, bronze and finally iron to make tools and weapons. By heating and shaping metals in hot furnaces, humanity also learned to use precious metals such as gold and silver to make intricate ornaments.[1][2] With these technological adaptions, human society became more productive and human settlements became larger and more prosperous, but also more violent.[3] The Metal Ages are divided into three stages: the Copper Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age.[1][2] (Calcium Age of Mozambique)
Religious practices in ancient Greece encompassed a collection of beliefs, rituals, and mythology, in the form of both popular public religion and cult practices. The application of the modern concept of "religion" to ancient cultures has been questioned as anachronistic.[1] The ancient Greeks did not have a word for 'religion' in the modern sense. Likewise, no Greek writer known to us classifies either the gods or the cult practices into separate 'religions'.[2] Instead, for example, Herodotus speaks of the Hellenes as having "common shrines of the gods and sacrifices, and the same kinds of customs."[3] Various religious festivals were held in ancient Greece. Many were specific only to a particular deity or city-state. Altogether the year in Athens included some 140 days that were religious festivals of some sort, though they varied greatly in importance. (Festival Martyrology)
Gnostic cosmogony generally presents a distinction between a supreme, hidden God and a malevolent lesser divinity (sometimes associated with the biblical deity Yahweh)[1] who is responsible for creating the material universe. Consequently, Gnostics considered material existence flawed or evil, and held the principal element of salvation to be direct knowledge of the hidden divinity, attained via mystical or esoteric insight. Many Gnostic texts deal not in concepts of sin and repentance, but with illusion and enlightenment.[2] Gnostic writings flourished among certain Christian groups in the Mediterranean world around the second century, when the Fathers of the early Church denounced them as heresy.[3]
The original sense of apotheosis relates to religion and is the subject of many works of art. Figuratively "apotheosis" may be used in almost any context for "the deification, glorification, or exaltation of a principle, practice, etc.", so normally attached to an abstraction of some sort.[1] In religion, apotheosis was a feature of many religions in the ancient world, and some that are active today. It requires a belief that there is a possibility of newly-created gods, so a polytheistic belief system. The major modern religions of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism do not allow for this, though many recognise minor sacred categories such as saints (created by a process called canonization). A mural crown (Latin: corona muralis) is a crown or headpiece representing city walls, towers, or fortresses. In classical antiquity, it was an emblem of tutelary deities who watched over a city, and among the Romans a military decoration. Later the mural crown developed into a symbol of European heraldry, mostly for cities and towns, and in the 19th and 20th centuries was used in some republican heraldry. (Mural Crown Wing Transfer)
In religious studies, an ethnic religion is a religion or belief associated with notions of heredity and a particular ethnic group. (CHAMA ROXA)
An illusion is a distortion of the senses, which can reveal how the mind normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation. Although illusions distort the human perception of reality, they are generally shared by most people.[1] (Sensory Process Sensitivity)
Capricornus is one of the 88 modern constellations, and was also one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century astronomer Claudius Ptolemy. Its old astronomical symbol is (♑︎). Under its modern boundaries it is bordered by Aquila, Sagittarius, Microscopium, Piscis Austrinus, and Aquarius. The constellation is located in an area of sky called the Sea or the Water, consisting of many water-related constellations such as Aquarius, Pisces and Eridanus. It is the smallest constellation in the zodiac. (Men)
Leo Minor is a small and faint constellation in the northern celestial hemisphere. Its name is Latin for "the smaller lion", in contrast to Leo, the larger lion. It lies between the larger and more recognizable Ursa Major to the north and Leo to the south. Leo Minor was not regarded as a separate constellation by classical astronomers; it was designated by Johannes Hevelius in 1687.[2] (Women)
Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music that originated in the late 1970s.[4][5] Initially, dancehall was a more sparse version of reggae than the roots style, which had dominated much of the 1970s.[6][7] In the mid-1980s, digital instrumentation became more prevalent, changing the sound considerably, with digital dancehall (or "ragga") becoming increasingly characterized by faster rhythms. Key elements of dancehall music include its extensive use of Jamaican Patois rather than Jamaican standard English and a focus on the track instrumentals (or "riddims"). Dancehall saw initial mainstream success in Jamaica in the 1980s, and by the 1990s, it became increasingly popular in Jamaican diaspora communities. In the 2000s, dancehall experienced worldwide mainstream success, and by the 2010s, it began to heavily influence the work of established Western artists and producers, which has helped to further bring the genre into the Western music mainstream.[8][9][10] (DOS SANTOS was this first generation of Dancehall Consumers)
5 SENSES CITY MARTYROLOGY BIBLE: LIGA CASAPIANOS (GOVERNMENT)
A congress is a formal meeting of the representatives of different countries, constituent states, organizations, trade unions, political parties, or other groups.[1] The term originated in Late Middle English to denote an encounter (meeting of adversaries) during battle, from the Latin congressus.
A federation (also called a federal state) is an entity characterized by a union of partially self-governing provinces, states, or other regions under a federal government (federalism). In a federation, the self-governing status of the component states, as well as the division of power between them and the central government, is constitutionally entrenched and may not be altered by a unilateral decision, neither by the component states nor the federal political body without constitutional amendment.
The League of Corinth, also referred to as the Hellenic League (Greek: κοινὸν τῶν Ἑλλήνων, koinòn tõn Hellḗnōn;[a] or simply οἱ Ἕλληνες, the Héllēnes),[3] was a federation of Greek states created by Philip II[4] in 338–337 BC. The League was created in order to unify Greek military forces under Macedonian leadership (hegemony) in their combined conquest of the Persian Achaemenid Empire.[5][6][7]
The League was governed by the Hegemon (leader)[21][22][23] (strategos autokrator[24][25] in a military context),[26] the council (Synedrion),[27] and the judges (Dikastai). Delegates of the member-states (Synedroi) were responsible for administering the common affairs of the League. They were summoned and presided over by a committee of presiding officers (Proedroi), chosen by lot in time of peace, and by the Hegemon in time of war.[19] Decrees of the league were issued in Corinth, Athens, Delphi, Olympia and Pydna.[28] The League maintained an army levied from member states in approximate proportion to their size, while Philip established Hellenic garrisons (commanded by phrourarchs, or garrison commanders) in Corinth, Thebes, Pydna[29] and Ambracia.
Heortology or eortology is a science that deals with the origin and development of religious festivals,[1] and more specifically the study of the history and criticism of liturgical calendars and martyrologies*.

As world leaders scramble to avert a full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah, there is another conflict on a scale perhaps unimaginable to many they should rush to prevent as well.
It is a repeat, like Israel-Hezbollah in 2006, of a war that raged between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Uganda between August 1998 and July 2003. By the time it ended, nine African countries and 20 rebel groups were involved. At least 5.4 million people died as a result of fighting, disease and malnutrition and 7 million were displaced. Africa’s World War — or the Great War of Africa, as it came to be known — was the world’s deadliest conflict since World War II.
Today, conflict between Congolese and Rwandan leaders has sharpened dangerously, peace initiatives have collapsed, an arms race is underway and deadly clashes between both sides and militias aligned to them are frequent. All the warning lights for a repeat of the 1998-2003 war are flashing.
Tensions have been simmering for years, with frequent reports of serious cross-border clashes in the eastern provinces of Congo. War talk and violence ramped up in the run-up to the Congolese election in December and have intensified over the past seven months. Weeks before the poll, Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi said Rwandan President Paul Kagame was behaving like Adolf Hitler and had ambitions to expand Rwanda into eastern Congo.
"I promise he will end up like Hitler,” Tshisekedi warned. Rwanda said the Congolese president’s words were a "loud and clear threat."
On July 9, a United Nations expert report confirmed widely circulated accusations that Uganda and Rwanda are backing the powerful M23 rebel group in eastern Congo. The report warned that the crisis "carried the risk of triggering a wider regional conflict." Rwandan government spokesperson Yolande Makolo responded that Tshisekedi had "consistently threatened to declare war on Rwanda" and that her country "will continue to defend itself."
The reasons for the fighting are decades-old and complex, yet currently boil down to various players’ bid to dominate Congo’s abundant mineral resources.
After the 1994 Rwandan genocide, in which 1 million ethnic Tutsi were killed by mainly Hutu ethnic groups, militias implicated in the murders fled into eastern Congo. The Rwandan army pursued them, arguing that it had to arrest perpetrators of the genocide and destroy their networks. This happened again in 1998, triggering the great war and spawning a web of vested interests involving neighboring nations and armed militias, mercenaries, mining companies, local and regional politicians, China, the United States and other global powers seeking a toehold in the region. Large parts of Congo have since been occupied by ruthless armed groups profiting from illegal mining.
The country produces nearly 70% of the world’s cobalt, while the Great Lakes region that Congo is a part of is rich with tin, tantalum, tungsten, lithium and gold — all of which are key components of electric vehicle batteries, cell phones, refrigerators, jewelry, airplane parts, cars and other goods. As of 2020, Chinese firms owned or had stakes in 15 of the 19 cobalt producing mines in Congo. Between 2022 and 2050, demand for nickel will double, cobalt will triple and lithium rise tenfold, according to the International Energy Agency.
A conflagration will potentially affect or draw in other countries. Apart from Congo, Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi, a plethora of armed groups is already in the region. The 11,000-strong U.N. peacekeeping mission (which goes by the French acronym MONUSCO) was supposed to leave the country by year-end, but has been asked by the Congolese government to stay on indefinitely.
South Africa, Malawi and Tanzania already have troops in Congo as part of the Southern African Development Community’s peacekeeping mission deployed there last December. Congo’s neighbors Angola, the Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia could be pulled into the fighting. An East African Community Regional Force exited Congo in December and may be drawn back in.
That’s not all. The Global Center for the Responsibility to Protect, a nongovernmental organization, says that there are at least 120 armed militias operating in the region, while mercenaries such as those of Russia’s Wagner Group have been contracted by various players. And worryingly, Congo has been stocking up on arms. The country’s military spending experienced the highest increase in the world last year, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. Spending on armored vehicles, drones and other military equipment more than doubled in a year to $794 million.
The 1998-2003 conflict ended because strong continental leaders intervened through dialogue. In 2000, African leaders adopted the Lome Declaration that expressly outlawed coups, thus giving the African Union the authority to stand up to belligerents.
The current political climate, called "an epidemic” of coups by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, makes it harder to intervene. Continental leadership of the type of the early 2000s is also lacking. In its last meeting on July 12, the African Union — its authority already undermined by swaggering coup leaders in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and other nations experiencing democratic backsliding — failed to even place the Great Lakes crisis on its agenda.
Attempts to strike a new peace deal have floundered. On July 27, Tshisekedi told a meeting in Paris: "There are two processes. There was the Nairobi Process driven by Uhuru Kenyatta which, unfortunately, was subsequently managed by the new president William Ruto. He managed it very badly. The process is almost dead."
The second initiative, the Luanda Process led by Angolan President Joao Lourenco, has made little headway after a disastrous meeting in February.
What now? At the request of the U.S., the belligerents have been observing a humanitarian truce for nearly a month, but clashes have continued. This truce should be used by international leaders — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has admirably been heavily involved with Lourenco — to encourage Tshisekedi and Kagame to dial down the rhetoric and come to the table.
China, which has sold arms to both sides this year and is the dominant foreign economic player in Congo’s mining sector, should do the same. Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates (both of which have mining interests in Congo) should also be acting. Crucially, other regional leaders such as South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya should be taking a leadership role alongside Angola’s president to avert a deterioration and assert Africa’s interests.
With 7.2 million people in the region already displaced by the war — 700,000 of them in just the first three months of this year — a further escalation would spell disaster for the continent.

The tale of Cucumber witch
In the heart of Malawi, where the breath of the lake meets the whisper of the forests, there was a village shrouded in mystery. Unlike any other, this village was ruled by cucumbers. Not just any cucumbers, mind you, but enchanted ones – glimmering in strange hues and rumored to hold the very essence of life itself.

At the center of this magic stood Aunty Chikondi, a woman of few words but deep, unsettling eyes. She was neither feared nor revered, yet when she spoke of cucumbers, people leaned in as if hearing the whispers of forgotten gods.
No one knew how it started – the village's connection to the cucumbers. Some say Aunty Chikondi had once married a spirit who lived in the lake, a spirit who gave her these mystical seeds in exchange for a promise, a promise long since forgotten. Others believed she found the seeds while wandering alone through the thick mist that rolled in every dusk, never lingering on the same ground twice.
Whatever the origin, the truth was clear: her cucumbers were not of this world.
Every year, without fail, the Cucumber Festival would arrive under the strangest of circumstances. It never fell on the same day, and no one announced it. One morning, the villagers would wake to find the ground trembling softly, the air tasting faintly of sweetness, and the cucumbers – which by this time had grown in every corner of the village – humming.

Yes, humming. Like the low thrum of bees, but softer, more melodious, a sound that teased the edge of consciousness.
It was the signal. The festival had begun.
This year, the festival arrived during the hottest, most unbearable stretch of summer. The cucumbers grew large and wild, twisting in impossible knots around trees and roofs, their neon skins shimmering under the blistering sun. But the villagers felt it – the pulse of magic in the air – and so they gathered at the market square, where Aunty Chikondi, draped in a dress woven from cucumber vines, waited.

There was no speech, no call for celebration. The cucumbers themselves seemed to dictate the rhythm of the day. Children gathered in packs, chasing after the ones that rolled mischievously from vendor stalls, while the older folk watched the cucumbers with wary eyes. For in all their years, they knew: the cucumbers could be playful, but they could also be sinister.
As the sun dipped lower, casting long shadows over the festival, Aunty Chikondi stepped forward, holding something that caused the crowd to inhale sharply – the Great Cucumber.
The villagers had heard of it, whispered about it in their quiet moments. Some said it was older than the village itself. Others claimed it was cursed, that whoever touched it would be granted not fortune, but madness.

Aunty Chikondi’s eyes glittered as she raised the cucumber high. It was massive, its surface not green, but shifting between blues, purples, and golds, as if the skies of a hundred sunsets had been trapped within. Its surface pulsed softly, like a heart.
Then came her voice, low and strange, like the rustle of wind through tall grass. “Tonight,” she said, “the one who dares dance with the cucumber will inherit its secret.”
The villagers stood still. The cucumber seemed to be watching them, its colors shifting in time with their unsteady breaths. One by one, they began to step back, retreating into the safety of the crowd. Who could bear the weight of such a strange, otherworldly prize?
But then, from the shadows, a man stepped forward. Mwale, the village’s quietest soul, a man no one ever thought twice about. His eyes glinted in the twilight as he approached Aunty Chikondi. Without a word, he took the Great Cucumber from her hands.

The crowd gasped. The cucumber… sighed.
Mwale began to dance.
At first, it was a simple shuffle, slow and deliberate, his feet dragging across the dirt. But then the cucumber began to glow brighter, its light wrapping around Mwale like tendrils.
His movements quickened, spinning and leaping in ways no one thought possible. The air crackled with energy, and the villagers found themselves rooted in place, unable to tear their eyes away. Mwale’s dance grew wilder, his feet barely touching the ground, his body twisting and bending in impossible ways.
Suddenly, the sky above opened. Not in the way clouds part for rain, but as if the very fabric of the universe was splitting apart. The stars blinked out, replaced by swirling shapes – cucumbers, yes, cucumbers, thousands of them, tumbling through the night sky like falling stars, their neon skins casting eerie reflections on the ground below.
Mwale was no longer on the earth. He floated among the cucumbers, his body moving with them, as if they had accepted him as one of their own. The villagers watched in silent awe, unsure whether they were witnessing a blessing or a curse.
Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the sky sealed itself shut, the cucumbers vanished, and Mwale returned to the ground. He stood in the center of the square, the Great Cucumber still in hand, but he was different now. His eyes sparkled with knowledge, his movements slow and deliberate.
Click here to read more stories like these
Without a word, Mwale placed the Great Cucumber on the ground at Aunty Chikondi’s feet and disappeared into the forest, never to be seen again.
From that day forward, the village thrived in ways no one could explain. The crops grew taller, the lake offered more fish, and the cucumbers… well, the cucumbers still hummed, but now they whispered secrets to those who dared to listen.
And every year, on a night without warning, the village would gather again, waiting for the cucumbers to hum, waiting to see who would next dare to dance.

Imagine Kiyo infodumping to Kokichi about the history and cultural significance of piercings cause he noticed Kokichi's piercing holes.
"Ah I see that you have your lips pierced, I honestly didn't expect that from you. You always gave off the feeling of someone who didn't want to betray your.... youthful appearance. Anyways did you know-"
Korekiyo: The lip piercing history dated back to some cultures both in Africa and the Americas. It is a common practice among the people of Papua New Guinea, the Dongon people of Mali, the Nuba of Sudan and Ethiopia. Also found among the people of the Amazon basin in South America. In the Pre-Columbian era, the people of South America, and some tribes in Malawi had a practice whereby lips are stretched by piercing and insertion of plates or plugs. This type of plate (lip disc) is called “pelele” in Malawi.
The Dogon people of Mali pierce their lips to symbolize the world’s creation by their ancestor spirit. The myth surrounding this was that Noomi (a goddess) wove a thread through her teeth, and transformed into speech when it came out. In other cultures, it’s a ritual practice to pierce lips. The Makololo women (people of Southern Africa) beautify themselves by wearing plates (pelele) in their upper lips. This plate is usually inserted by the potential husband about six months before marriage. This is a betrothal rite and the bigger the plate, the more the dowry.
The ancient Aztecs (in central Mexico) and Mayans (in southern Mexico) practiced a series of body modifications as a ritual or ceremonial practice. Lip piercing is one of such modifications. Males who were intended to join the military got their lips pierced at a tender age. An ornament is then placed and stretched as they brought more war prisoners. They reserved labret piercing for the males of the higher castes. These people wore beautiful, serpent-shaped gold labrets with stones inset. Immediately after the piercing, no ornament is placed to allow for more bloodletting aimed at appeasing the deities.
Lip piercing is an ancient practice that has spiritual and mythological histories surrounding it. It is however still being practiced in the modern society of today mainly for aesthetic purposes.

The Godess Awakens
In my room
For my Grandmother Deviben born 1923-2001
As Amba Patel in Limbe, Malawi
4 am - London
In my room
The Goddess awakens
me with Her singing
I have been holding her hand as I sleep
Her thin long bony fingers
The only protection I need from
the shifting shadows on the wall
The monsters under the bed
At 6am
The six year old me watches
from under thick tartan blankets
as she performs her holy ablutions
After her own morning rituals
Combing silver strands into
Thin tight helix braid
Fraying at the ends
Mimicking the DNA strands
That bind us
Decontaminating
Is her holy ritual
She is elbows
She is force
Carving at the decay
And grime the world brings
Shakti
There is Dettol and Vicks and incense
To cleanse the body and the spirit according to her methods
Dressed in white head to toe
Mostly white hair in a bun
Pure sari on an impossibly long thin frame whit
Thick white wooly socks that once wore toe rings
She is not delicate
Never that
She is firm and flattens us all smooth like a hot iron with nothing but her sharp tongue
And expectations
Pressing out all the creases
I inherited from my mother
with their unforgiving steam
She is brittle and hard like iron
Yet even kyphosis is elegant on her
If you can make her laugh and smile
You can rewind the years to see
Her warm joy before it was stolen
By customs, tragedy, migration
She is a misplaced bird
With wings she can never use
locked away in this cage of duty
Within invisible parameters
Society calls love
From under the bed covers I watch
as she bathes her murtis by dawn light
Then proceeds to greet them and divide the entire universe evenly into 18 sacred sections
Gita Ganga Gayatri
Sita Satya Sarasvati
Brahmavidya …
20 years later
Long after the clearest memories of her gold bangles are gone
The sweet fragrance of Vibhuti, Bhasma, Chandan and kumkum fade

Nilanjan Samabhasam
Ravi Putra Yama Ganjam…
As my way of communion with her spirit of intellectual curiosity mixed with childlike wonder and faith. My attempt of reaching back through time to bridge the ionic bonds
That tore her family apart
If she had been born in any other era she would have manifested her true power
And ruled the world firmly but compassionately and changed it for the better.
Now
As I study my microbiology notes and antiseptic techniques
There She is again
Her teachings her blessings
Acting as the phospholipids
In my spiritual membrane
Her Hygiene OCDs justified
Open tap
Wash hands
Wash taps
Wash hands again
In scalding soapy water
Open cabinet door
Wash hands
Her methodology
For reverence
Godliness next to
Cleanliness
If only if I could have told her about Lister & Louis Pasteur
I’m sure she would have smiled and agreed
They were worthy of Murtis too
But I am done collecting old Gods & New
Decades later I realise
While I was searching for the wrong God in all the cliched places
All I need to remember
Is DeviMa of my youth

"Visit Africa: Navigating the African Continental Free Trade Area for Boosting Intra-African Tourism"
By Julien Reteno
In recent years, the African continent has taken a significant leap forward in the quest for economic integration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This ambitious trade agreement, brokered by the African Union, aims to create a single market for goods and services, thereby facilitating the free movement of people and investments across the continent. The AfCFTA holds the potential to revolutionize African economies, encouraging the diversification of income sources, increasing trade volumes, and fostering innovation.
The importance of economic integration in Africa cannot be overstated. It encourages economies of scale, reduces trade barriers, and fosters a more competitive business environment. By promoting intra-African trade, the AfCFTA can help to reduce the continent's reliance on external markets, thereby strengthening its resilience against global economic shocks.
The Potential of Intra-African Tourism
Despite the diverse attractions and rich cultural heritage that Africa offers, the tourism industry on the continent has traditionally focused on attracting international tourists. Yet, as Africa's economies develop and incomes rise, there is growing recognition of the potential for intra-African tourism. African tourists visiting other African countries can contribute to economic growth, foster cultural exchange, and promote unity among African nations.
President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa has noted, "This is a sector of our economy that can grow exponentially, and I believe we have not reached its full potential. We tend to think of tourism as associated with pleasure motives all the time. But it can also embrace business tourism, education tourism, health tourism and religion. Tourism is the new gold mine."
The AfCFTA, by promoting the free movement of people, can significantly boost intra-African tourism. By making it easier and more affordable for Africans to travel within the continent, the AfCFTA can help to unlock the full potential of Africa's tourism industry.
Visit Africa: A Catalyst for Change
In the burgeoning landscape of African tourism, one platform stands out for its innovative approach and commitment to promoting intra-African tourism - Visit Africa. This comprehensive platform aims to make booking trips across the continent a seamless experience, thereby encouraging more Africans to explore the beauty and diversity of their own continent.
Visit Africa stands at the intersection of technology and tourism. It leverages digital tools to
provide a user-friendly interface, comprehensive information, and secure booking options. By removing the hassle from planning and booking trips, Visit Africa makes it easier for Africans to explore their own continent.
Furthermore, Visit Africa is perfectly positioned to leverage the opportunities provided by the AfCFTA. By promoting the free movement of people and services, the AfCFTA can facilitate the growth of platforms like Visit Africa, which are built on the premise of intra-African tourism.
Going Beyond the Beaten Track
Visit Africa distinguishes itself by going beyond the well-trodden tourist paths. It works closely with tourism authorities across the continent to highlight lesser-known destinations, thereby helping to develop new tourism markets. This approach fosters a more balanced and sustainable development of the tourism industry, promoting local economic development and job creation in regions that have been overlooked in the past.
For instance, Visit Africa has been instrumental in promoting tourism in destinations like the serene Lake Malawi, the ancient rock-hewn churches of Lalibela in Ethiopia, and the lush landscapes of the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda. By shedding light on these hidden gems, Visit Africa not only offers travelers a unique and authentic experience but also contributes to the socio-economic development of these regions.
Fostering Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
One of the key strategies of Visit Africa is to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among tour operators. This initiative bridges the gap between operators in more developed markets and those in emerging destinations, thereby helping to disseminate best practices and innovative ideas.
For example, a tour operator in Tanzania, a country with a well-developed safari tourism industry, can share insights on sustainable tourism practices, effective marketing strategies, and customer service excellence with a counterpart in a less developed market like Togo. This exchange of knowledge and expertise can help the latter to enhance its service offering, attract more tourists, and contribute to the growth and development of the tourism industry in Togo.
Cross-Border Tourism in the AfCFTA Era.
The advent of the AfCFTA heralds a new era for cross-border tourism. The agreement, by promoting free movement of people and services, opens up new opportunities for cross-border tour itineraries, campaigns, and offers. Visit Africa, in line with this new reality, is working tirelessly to facilitate such cross-border initiatives. For instance, Visit Africa is exploring opportunities to create itineraries that span multiple countries, allowing tourists to experience the diverse cultures, landscapes, and wildlife of Africa. Imagine a tour that starts in the historic city of Marrakech in Morocco, takes you through the vibrant markets of Lagos in Nigeria, leads you to the stunning Victoria Falls in Zambia and Zimbabwe, and ends with a relaxing beach holiday in the Seychelles. Such cross-border tours can provide a unique experience for tourists and promote regional integration.
Connecting the Diaspora
The African diaspora plays a crucial role in boosting tourism on the continent. The deep emotional and cultural ties that members of the diaspora maintain with their home countries make them keen tourists and ambassadors of African destinations. Visit Africa and the AfCFTA both recognize this potential and are working towards facilitating diaspora tourism.
Visit Africa's platform is designed to cater not only to residents of the continent but also to the African diaspora. It provides comprehensive information on destinations, offers convenient booking options, and promotes unique experiences that resonate with the diaspora's desire to connect with their roots.
Moreover, the AfCFTA, by promoting the free movement of people and reducing barriers to travel, can facilitate the return of the diaspora to the continent, whether for tourism, business, or permanent return. This influx of diaspora tourists can contribute significantly to the growth of the tourism industry.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite its immense potential, intra-African tourism faces several challenges. These include the lack of infrastructure, visa restrictions, high cost of travel, and limited awareness of Africa's diverse tourist attractions. However, with the implementation of the AfCFTA and the innovative efforts of platforms like Visit Africa, these challenges can be turned into opportunities.
For instance, the AfCFTA can stimulate investment in tourism infrastructure by creating a more attractive business environment. It can also facilitate the relaxation of visa restrictions and reduce the cost of travel by promoting competition and efficiency in the aviation industry. Meanwhile, Visit Africa, through its digital platform, can raise awareness of Africa's diverse attractions and make it easier for visitors to plan and book their trips.
Looking Forward
As we gaze into the future of the African economy, it becomes increasingly clear that the African Continental Free Trade Area will play a transformative role. Platforms like Visit Africa are poised to ride this wave of change and leverage the opportunities it offers to turbocharge intra-African tourism. By shining a light on lesser-known destinations, fostering collaboration among tour operators, facilitating cross-border tours, and connecting the diaspora, Visit Africa is an instrumental player in unlocking the potential of the AfCFTA and redefining the contours of African tourism.
As eloquently articulated by President Ramaphosa, "Africa is pristine. It has beautiful wide beaches, and some of the oldest and diverse flora and fauna. We have majestic scenery from the ancient Sahara Desert to the savannah grasslands of the Maasai Mara and the southern point where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. I am proud to say as Africans that we have world-class national parks at the forefront of conservation of rare and endangered species."
The horizon is aglow with possibilities for intra-African tourism, and platforms like Visit Africa are forging a path towards a more integrated, inclusive, and sustainable tourism industry that truly cherishes and showcases the beauty and diversity of the African continent.
Julien Reteno is the passionate author and CEO of PANEOTECH, the company behind the groundbreaking Visit Africa platform. With a deep-rooted love for Africa and a vision to promote intra-African tourism, Julien has dedicated his career to unlocking the continent's vast potential in various industries. As a seasoned traveler and entrepreneur, Julien understands the transformative power of tourism in fostering economic growth and cultural exchange. Through Visit Africa, Julien envisions a seamless and immersive experience for African travelers, connecting them with diverse destinations and showcasing the beauty and richness of their own continent. With his leadership and unwavering commitment, Julien strives to make Visit Africa the go-to platform for exploring Africa's hidden treasures. Through his writings and initiatives, Julien aims to inspire Africans and the global community to embark on their own extraordinary journeys of (re)discovery within Africa.

Chapter 22 - The World
This is a Christmas story told in 25 parts – with one chapter released each day of December ‘til Christmas. Enjoy!
… the sleigh gently landed on the grubby street in front of the Kangula Youth Shelter where George lived.
Keya exhaled. George let go of her shoulder. They gazed around and could not quite believe that they were back in Sydney. Keya took out her phone and showed it to George. Through the cracked screen, they saw the time flick to 5:01am and looked at each other in amazement. It all happened magically in a blink of an eye. In between being at the mansion and shelter, they had seen the whole world.
They had flown through the sky as the reindeer gracefully weaved the sleigh around clouds and skyscrapers. They had seen incredible sites up close and afar – the Sahara Desert, Tokyo City, the Amazon, the Alps and the Taj Mahal, to name only a few. They had landed on the rooftops of millions of homes in countries across the globe to deliver toys. They had slid down chimneys, climbed through windows and, with the help of fairy dust on occasion, magically slipped through keyholes, pipes and air vents. They had often found delicious sweets waiting for them as they entered – cinnamon-spiced mbatata in Malawi, sugar-dusted kourabiedes in Greece, caramel-filled alfajores in Chile – all laid out for Santa’s arrival.
It all felt like a dream. The adventure of a lifetime had been compressed into a fraction of a second and, miraculously, George and Keya remembered all of it in vivid detail. Their heads were swirling with wonderful memories. Yet, as they sat in the sleigh outside of the shelter, trying to process everything that they had just experienced, less pleasant memories bobbed to the surface.
A lot of the children that they had visited did not have homes. They slept on the streets, under bridges, in dilapidated tents on the outskirts of towns. Along with toys, Santa had left them clothes and other care items to help them and their loved ones. Ana had laid blankets over kids shivering in the cold. Lolly had hung stockings filled with food for families going hungry. One girl in Serbia slept beside her mum in a beat-up car. She had decorated the cardboard pine tree air-freshener, dangling from the rear-view mirror, with gold star stickers and crayon scribbles. Santa had placed gifts and care packages across the dashboard, under this makeshift Christmas tree swaying on a string.
Keya was confronted by what she saw. She had no idea so many kids around the world lived like this and felt a bit ashamed that, before tonight, she had never given it much thought. Visiting every single one of them, all in one go, was overwhelming. It opened her eyes and broke her heart.
George, however, was not so shocked. Near the end of their journey, they were soaring above the clouds, over a stretch of land that was completely dark, unlike the lands surrounding it littered with dots of city lights.
“Can we stop here?” he asked.
“Why?” Lolly replied confused, Ana signing her words. The elf scanned the long, unfurled scroll with every child needing a delivery listed upon it. “There’s no one down there?”
“I know”, George replied.
Santa realised where they were and why George had asked. He interjected before Lolly could query it further.
“Of course we can”, he signed. “Are you sure you want to?”
“Yes”, George answered.
Santa tugged on the reins and the reindeer guided the sleigh below the clouds. A storm was raging. Since time had essentially stopped, however, the rain did not cause any trouble. Each drop hung in mid-air, perfectly still, appearing like a billion tiny chandelier crystals floating around them.
The sleigh landed on rubble. All of the buildings, as far as they could see, had been demolished.
George exited the sleigh first and the others followed. He surveyed the barren, lifeless surroundings with an intense, mournful look that Keya did not understand.
“Where are we?” Keya asked Ana, under her breath.
Ana answered her gently. “Palestine, dear. George’s home.”
Keya’s eyes widened. She went to George.
“Is … is … this where you’re from?” Keya stammered.
George nodded. He pointed to a husk of a building to their right. “That was a bakery.”
Keya did not know what to say, so just said, “Oh.”
George pointed again. “Me and other kids played soccer there.” He then pointed into the distance. “Down that street, that was my house. I mean, Amir’s house.”
“Amir?”
“He was my friend, but more like a brother. We were bombed when I was little. It killed my parents and left me deaf. Amir was another deaf kid. We learned to sign together. We did everything together. His parents took me in like I was their own. I …”
A lump formed in George’s throat, making it hard to talk. All night, Keya had barely heard George string two sentences together and now really did not feel like the time to push it.
“We don’t have to talk about this if you don’t want to”, Keya offered.
Santa signed her words.
“No”, George replied firmly. “I want to. I don’t want them forgotten. I …” George trailed off, trying to find his words. “Do you see that church?”
George pointed to a church that looked centuries-old amid the debris. It was disfigured on the outside, but still standing.
“Amir’s dad took me there every Christmas. They were Muslim, I was Christian, but it didn’t matter. They wanted me to keep connected to my parents’ church. We went there every Christmas. They were really good people.”
“How did you end up in Australia?” Keya asked.
George’s eyes lowered. The lump in his throat was now too big to speak over, so he signed instead. Santa translated for him.
“We were bombed again. Amir and his family didn’t make it. I did. I don’t know why. I survived, got given a refugee visa to Australia, and left.”
Keya held back tears. Lolly had them flowing freely.
George just looked around. A little phrase that Palestinian Christians often said came to mind: “Jesus ate breakfast here.”
That is what you would say to describe how old and historic everything is in Palestine. You would point to a building and say, “Jesus ate breakfast here.” But he looked around. On this night, in the birthplace of Jesus where Christmas began, he couldn’t see Jesus in any of it.
Ana looked to her left. Santa did not know what to say. She looked to her right. Keya and Lolly were also silent. Ana stepped forward.
She walked through the rain drops hanging in the air and went to George’s side, placing her hand on his shoulder.
“Do you want to light a candle for Amir?”
George thought about it, then nodded in agreement. He took Ana’s hand and they walked down the debris-covered road to the battered church.
Santa, Keya and Lolly walked behind them. The girl felt like she was about to burst if she did not ask the question pounding in her head, so turned to Santa accusingly and asked it.
“A candle?!”
“Excuse me?” Santa said, not exactly sure of the question.
“Can’t you do more?”
“More?”
“For George. For all of these kids we saw tonight without food and homes. You help then on Christmas but … what about the rest of the year?”
Santa could see the concern in Keya’s eyes.
“There’s a lot I can do, especially when not trapped in a globe. I can make toys, fly, fiddle a bit with time to satisfy tight delivery deadlines”, Santa glanced at the raindrops, glistening around him. “But, what you’re talking about – giving children new homes, new lives – these needs stem from complicated problems that magic can’t fix. Only humans can do that.”
Keya hated that answer. In the distance, a lightning bolt had been very slowly unfurling across the sky. Keya watched it spread as she contemplated Santa’s words.
“I was hoping that you’d say …”
“What?”
“The complete opposite”, she admitted. “That you’re free now, full-sized, and stuffed with Christmas magic, so can snap your fingers and fix everything, for everyone, forever.”
Santa put his hand on her shoulder. “If I could resolve things so easily, I would have done so a very long time ago. All I can do is give what I can, using what I have, and hope that others take the suggestion.”
At the church, George entered with Ana, while Santa, Keya and Lolly ushered in quietly behind them. George dipped his hand into his pocket, picked out a coin and placed it in the collection plate by the door. It seemed a bit silly – the coin was an Australian dollar with kangaroos on it and there was no one there to collect it. Nevertheless, he did it because that is what you do before taking a candle. He picked one from the pile that sat next to the collection plate, wiping off dust that had accumulated on it.
George moved through the church, sidestepping the bits of ceiling that had fallen to the floor. He stopped at a brass box of sand. Other candles were sitting in the sand, most of them lopsided and burned out long ago. Two, however, were still flickering with light. George lit his candle with one of them, and then gently dug the candle into the sand, trying to get it as straight as possible. George stood there, thinking of Amir and everyone he missed so much that normally would be outside those church doors, living their lives.
It was so quiet. The rain was falling through a hole in the roof but, stuck in time, did not pitter-patter. George began to cry. Since time was acting funny, he did not know if he had stood in that spot and cried for a few minutes or a hundred hours. Lolly’s impulse as an elf was to fix anything she saw that needed fixing. Elves are fixers. She no longer had her hat filled with magical solutions and golden thermoses of comforting hot chocolate. Lolly knew, though, that nothing in her hat would do much good. Instead, she put her tiny hand in George’s and did not let go.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Cannabis Seeds in South Africa
Growing numbers of people are becoming interested in growing their cannabis plants as the cannabis industry in South Africa keeps expanding. A successful harvest in South Africa depends on choosing the best cannabis seeds. No matter how experienced you are with growing, knowing the important things to look for when choosing cannabis seeds South Africa will help you achieve the best results.
Understanding Cannabis Seeds
It is crucial to understand the various seed varieties that are available in South Africa when choosing cannabis seeds:
Regular Seeds: Both male and female plants can be produced from these seeds. For breeders wishing to develop new strains, they are perfect. To stop pollination, however, male plants must be identified and removed if you wish to harvest buds.
Feminised Seeds: Because only female plants can produce the desired buds, these seeds are designed to only yield female plants. For those who wish to increase their yield without having to deal with the trouble of sexing plants, fertilised seeds are ideal.
Autoflowering Seeds: Instead of relying on light cycles, autoflowering seeds transition from the vegetative to the flowering stage according to their age. For novices and those seeking a speedy turnaround, they are perfect.
Key Factors to Consider
Climate Compatibility
Because of the varied climate in South Africa, it is important to choose cannabis seeds that are appropriate for your specific environment. Strains that are known to flourish in warm coastal climates, like Durban Poison, may be beneficial in these areas. Conversely, more robust strains may be needed in cooler inland regions.
Seed Genetics
The size, yield, and cannabinoid content of cannabis plants are all influenced by the genetic makeup of the seeds. Select seeds from reliable seed banks with consistent, superior genetics. Strong, South African strains such as Rooibaard and Swazi Gold are highly regarded.
Growing Space
The kind of cannabis seeds you should choose is influenced by the growing space you have available. Compact strains, like Northern Lights, are great for indoor growing because of their manageable size. Taller sativa strains, like Malawi Gold, are beneficial for outdoor growers because they can grow large and absorb natural sunlight.
Desired Effects
The effects of various cannabis strains differ. Because of their reputation for being peaceful and sedative, indicas are good for relieving pain and promoting relaxation. Sativas are better for daytime use and creativity because they have more energising and uplifting effects. Experiences with hybrids are well-rounded. When selecting your seeds, think about the results you want.
Where to Buy Cannabis Seeds in South Africa
Local Seed Banks
Investing in cannabis seeds from reliable vendors guarantees premium goods. A large range of strains appropriate for South African conditions can be found in both domestic and foreign seed banks.
International Seed Banks
If you're looking for a particular strain, international seed banks can be a good option because they frequently have a wider selection of cannabis strains. Make sure the seed bank you select offers dependable shipping and attentive customer support.
Conclusion
Genetics, growing space, climate compatibility, and desired effects are all key factors to consider when selecting cannabis seeds in South Africa. Whether you choose international strains or local favourites like Durban Poison, making an informed decision will put you on the right track for a bumper crop. You can reap the rewards of growing cannabis indoors by choosing premium seeds from trustworthy suppliers and following the right germination procedures.

Malawi 🇲🇼🇲🇼🇲🇼
youtube
zusammen gefasst.

COSAFA Women's Championship 2023 lands safe in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The scorchers of Malawi landed their first ever COSAFA Women's Championship gold medal defeating their neighbours Copper queens of Zambia in the finals at Lucas Moripe stadium, yesterday October, 15 2023.
Coach Lovemore Fazili was thrilled and lost of words explaining this victory and described the medal as a gift to the people back home.
"I am happy, I don't know what to say but I thank God. This is what the people from Malawi expected, that one day it's either Men or Women should bring a tournament cup. I think it is a gift for my ancestors and to us who came to participate in this tournament," said Fazili.
When Zambia equalised in the 82 minutes from the penalty spot by Agnes Phiri after Malawi handball. The game took a turn once more and rose a beast in Malawian players who kept knocking on Zambia 18 yards.
When everyone was preparing for penalty shootout, Sabina Thom restored Malawi's lead in additional time, smashing the ball into the net from close range after Zambia failed to clear their lines with Chawinga charging in the box to make it Zambia 1 - Malawi 2.
In a much anticipated victory of Malawi in the tournament regarding their performance, coach Fazili praised his formation and tactical planning before the game.
"If you saw our team formation we put Sabina as a targeted striker, and Temwa was behind Sabina. We did that deliberately because we knew Zambia would actually target Temwa. So it was our game plan, our plan proved that it was a good game plan, " Added Fazili.
Looking at the stella performance in the tournament with Temwa stealing the show as she wins player of the tournament and golden boots awards after netting 9 goals in the whole tournament. Fazili continues to praise his team and wishes to continue with the same team or rather add new players that perform well in their domestic leagues.
