My mother, upper-50s globe trotter semi-bourgeoisie ex-mormon hippy, has an eclectic taste and a collection of jewelery she's been adding to her whole life.

Complication:

My one and only sister, extremely intelligent and quietly socialist pinterest mother is uninterested in jewlery and has never shared my mother's enthusiasm for it.

Variable:

I, recent woman, am working femininity in to the front of my life more and more, and am visiting my parents home (on the coast, and fittingly nautical) for christmas break.

Result:

I am leaving my parents house feeling slightly more like a pirate.

Bonus:

The underside of the tentacle ring is consistently tentacular.
