what i’ve been up to…
I’ve created a Japanese family in anticipation of Snowy Escape. Apologies in advance, since I know very little about Japanese culture. Anyway:
Hiroyuki Shima (or more properly Shima Hiroyuki) is the patriarch of the family. A former Winter Olympian and present personal trainer, he hasn’t quite given up on his youth. He’s hoping to relive it through his children.
Maiko Shima was a violin prodigy but now a full time mother. She keeps a check on her husband’s ambitions for their children.
Risu Shima, the teenage son, has the fame bug. He enjoys winter sports but isn’t interested in pursuing them as a career. He wants to be on television!
Kotone Shima may end up fulfilling her father’s dreams. She is active and love sports of every kind. She also loves their cat:
Katsu. Spoiled as any good cat should be, he uses his cuteness to get anything he wants.

Slice of Life Anime in 2021
It’s already the last month of 2020 and I already look forward to some slice of life anime coming in early 2021. Nothing like a chill slice of life anime to make you feel good and wholesome, after all the things that has been going on in 2020.
So here’s a few that I look forward to and recommend you to watch!
Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san
NHK brings to life “Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san,” a highly acclaimed manga by Koyama Aiko that portrays the everyday life of Kyoto’s famed maiko through cooking. Meet Kiyo and Sumire, two friends from Aomori who came to Kyoto in hopes of becoming maiko. While Sumire successfully fulfills her dream, Kiyo is not so lucky… or talented. Instead, her gift is in her culinary skills, which she uses to help support Sumire and the other maiko.
Coming Feb 2021.
Yuru Camp Season 2
It follows Rin Shima, a solo camper who befriends Nadeshiko Kagamihara and the girls from the Outdoor Activities School Club, as they share their love of nature and camping. You’ll go on an adventure with them to various campsites, from pitching tents to gathering firewood, and eating under the stars. It’s great that they even have a live version which is as good as the anime and it caused some Japanese You Tubers to venture out to find the real life locations!
Coming Jan 2021.
Non Non Biyori Season 3
The story takes place in the countryside small town village of Asahigaoka, a place lacking many of the conveniences that people from the city are accustomed to. The nearest stores are a few miles away and one of the local schools consists of only five students, each of whom is in a different grade of elementary or middle school. Hotaru Ichijo, a fifth grader from Tokyo, transfers into Asahigaoka and has to adjust to countryside life with her new friends.
Coming Jan 2021.

Happiest 33rd Birthday to my dearest Kaji-kyun!!
Yesterday at September 3, my beloved Kaji-kyun turned 33.
I love his voice so much. But not only that. I love his voice acting, his performance, his dedication as seiyuu, also his personality. To me his handsome and cute face is a plus and I’m thankful for that. It makes him even more loving to me. I fell for him first as Eren. He is doing awesome as Eren even until now. Then I began searching for more anime with his voice, drama cds, and seiyuu events. Then yes, I love him even more. He is now my most favorite seiyuu of all time. He is amazing!!!
Sorry I’m a day late but... Tanjoubi omedetou dear Yuuki Kaji-san aka Kaji-kyun!!! Happy 33rd birthday!!! Thank you for all your hard work. Thank you for all the smile you always give for us. Thank you for everything. I hope all of your dreams in this year or ahead will soon come to you. I hope you can keep up your career and become the most successful person you ever want to be. I hope you can always love yourself and what you are doing. That’s why at last I wish you for all time happiness and healthiness so we can see you even more, hehe <3 :)

Sitting Nendoroids
While it’s true it’s possible to pose a Nendo as if he/she were sitting despite it not having sitting parts... well those make the work a lot easier and better on a visual level.
There are lots of female Nendo who come with sitting parts (120 so far plus the Nendoroid more sets) but not so many male Nendo (20 so far!).
While in the past it was completely okay as there were few male Nendo, the increase of male Nendo makes sad how they didn’t provide more with sitting parts (which is why I sort of bugged Goodsmile in hope they’ll make a Nendoroid more set with male sitting parts).
Still to fully realize the huge amount in difference I’m going to list all the Nendo who had sitting parts and let you see how many are females and how few are males.
I also think it can be useful to you if you’re searching for sitting parts.
Mind you, I’m listing only the Nendo that were commercialized as capable of sitting. If there are Nendo who can sit but it wasn’t said... well, that’s all good but I couldn’t know.
So... let’s start with the girls first... as they’re a lot. I could count 120 of them (though I might have missed some...)

1064 Nendoroid Yotsuba Koiwai
1073 Nendoroid Yuri
1097 Nendoroid Aoi Inuyama
And with this the list of girls Nendo that can sit end. But your chances to sit down a female Nendo don’t end here as we’ two Nendoroid more female only set that allow you to sit your Nendo.
Nendoroid More: Dress Up Pajamas
(It actually includes 6 pajamas but one is a secret one. I guess you can have a male Nendo wear the blue pajama but it wasn’t really thought for males...)
Nendoroid More: Dress Up Swimming Wear
(It actually includes 6 swimming suits, two are school swimsuits like the one below, three are bikinis like the one below and one is a secret one. They’re clearly all for female Nendo)
Now let’s look at the boys.
They’re sadly a lot less... -_-
017 Nendoroid L
117 Nendoroid Ciel Phantomhive
147 Nendoroid Hideyoshi Kinoshita (I don’t know this series but it seems Kinoshita’s gender is up to debate... though Goodsmile gives this one as a male Nendo in its description so I’ll go with it because they thought at this as a male Nendo. Take this not as a classification based on the character’s gender but just on the Nendo made by Goodsmile)
151 Nendoroid Moritaka Mashiro
177 Nendoroid Prince
435 Nendoroid Armin Arlert
487 Nendoroid Noiz
605 Nendoroid Kenma Kozume
638 Nendoroid Ichimatsu Matsuno

913 Nendoroid Kyoya Hibari
935 Nendoroid Kamina
937 Nendoroid Reinhard von Lohengramm
1017 Nendoroid Torbjörn Classic Skin Edition
1046DX Nendoroid Woody DX Ver.
1063 Nendoroid Mukuro Rokudo
And with this the list of the male Nendo that can sit down end. It counts 20 Nendo, some of those are rather old and hard to find.
Mind you, it can be that some other male Nendo can sit down due to their legs having joints that allow for more poses but as I wasn’t sure they can I didn’t list them.
For the sake of this being a complete list I list the remaining Nendo that have sitting parts... but those sitting parts can’t really be used on other Nendo due to those parts being... not human.
234 Nendoroid Jack Frost
313 Nendoroid Monokuma
793 Nendoroid Morgana
796 Nendoroid Alphonse Elric
836 Nendoroid Ariel
980 Nendoroid Jashin-chan
996 Nendoroid Winnie the Pooh & Piglet Set
1065 Nendoroid Danboard
And this ends the list of Nendo that can sit down.
As you can see the male department is seriously lacking so I truly hope Goodsmile will take care of it, hopefully in a Nendoroid more extension.
(Also it would be lovely to have a male swimming suit dress up version or an Onsen version... it’s a bit sad the boys can’t really splash in the water...)

Adventures with the Shima Family
Risu: Mama, I liked Willow Creek. Why did we have to come to Mt. Teriyaki anyway?
Maiko: It’s “Mt. Komorebi”, sweetie. And you know that your father loves snow sports. Besides which, the Kansatsu-sha has spent long hours building this minimalist modern Japanese house for us, and He wants us to play test the house and this world.
Risu: We don’t even speak Japanese, Mama. And how is Papa’s love for snow sports going to help me with my ambition to be a TV game show host?
Maiko: You’re still in high school, sweetie. You have plenty of time to become a TV celebrity. Maybe some day you can host an extreme sports game show where people make fools of themselves trying to do things no one in their right mind would do. And yes, we don’t speak Japanese, but no one does. We all speak Simlish anyway.
Risu: But speaking of high school, all my friends are back in Willow Creek!
Maiko: No they aren’t. Everyone everywhere goes to the same school, so…
Risu: Whatever…

Maiko: (to herself) Those Ginzu knife chefs have nothing on me! (later) This house needs more light.
-------------------------------------
Risu: We’re number one!
Katzu: Wrong, deluded humanoid! I am number one!
Kotone: Shouldn’t we be eating these garlic noodles with chopsticks or something?
Risu: Why? What’s wrong with forks?

Adventures with the Shima Family
Hiroyuki: Hey, my little plum blossom! How ‘bout we hit the slopes before dinner?
Maiko: It’s already getting dark, dear. You may have time for one trip down the Bunny Slope on a sled ! No skiing and no snow boarding! Kotone is too young! And don’t forget your warm clothing; it’s cold on top of the mountain.
Hiroyuki: She’ll be fine! She’s with me, after all! C’mon, Kotone!
____________________________
Hiroyuki: Last one to the top of the hill is a rotten egg!
Kotone: (laughing) Nobody says that anymore, Papa!
_____________________________
Both together: Whoa!!!!!
Kotone: Let’s do that again, Papa!
Hiroyuki: Your mother would kill us! Let’s go home. We’ll come back again another time.
