As the hometown of the Kohistani, Kalam is an earthly paradise in the Swat Valley. At a distance of 40 km from Bahrain, Kalam is the capital of this region and offers one of the most beautiful natural landscapes with panoramic views. The people known as Kohistani are their aborigines who are proud of their own language and their unchanged traditions. A mesmerizing view of the 6471 m high Falaksair peak with its melting snow, even in summer from Matiltan (3000 m), is breathtaking. The journey is incomplete, without Mahodand, to see and visit a famous lake, about 23 km beyond Matiltan. Scenic Kalam offers road access to reach the magnificent valleys Ushu (2286 m), Utrot (2225 m) and Gabral (2286 m) above sea level. Travel through green forests and beautiful views of the countryside to memorize. Kalam Rivers and lakes offer good trout fishing opportunities after obtaining permission from the Fisheries Department.

Mankial:

The beautiful Swat Valley is a mix of diverse and varied valleys and plains. The southern region is comparatively wide and open and consists of plains that are cultivated throughout the year and provide an extremely high amount of fruit and cereals. The northern region is a collection of high mountain ranges, where small valleys offer little land for cultivation and residential areas for the small mass of people scattered among different groups and families. The valley of Mankial is one such place in the north of Swat on the west coast main road to Kalam. The total distance of the valley of Saidu Sharif is about eighty kilometers. The condition of the road is not good, but the scenic beauty along the Swat River keeps visitors on their toes. The mesmerizing Mankial Valley is known throughout Swat for its several sharp and jagged peaks or peaks hundreds of miles away. The Plains Down The highest point is 18750 feet above sea level.
