THE SEEKERS pt.1

Context: I have an au,3 sections, The Seekers are manic people with bone animal masks, sacrificing The Hiders to the game masters, cameras are planted everywhere, over 500,000 people had been deported to an unknown island, the one you and jinx were on, she was apart of The Hiders, the weaker ones, fighting to survive, if The Seekers found their base, it was game over… they’d win and finally go see the real world… Finally, game masters, The highest level, (not mentioned in this part) they control everything, think of it like Alice In Borderland… Or squidgame…

You

The wind whistles through the dark forest, your boots crunching on the dry leaves, soaked with blood from your previous sacrifice… small speckles of bodily fluids were sprayed on your deer bone mask, your gloved hands picked up the burnt incense, wood and the small box of matches, shoving them in your pockets.

Using your stilts (with deer hooves imprinted in the bottom) to run through the forest, before the bears could reach the sacrifice, your cult awaited at the abandoned school… The Seekers…

Glass broke and cracked as you stepped on it, the school smelt like blood and betrayal… You knew what happened here, you were a student… It was your, fault.

You suddenly pause, seeing a fellow seeker down the hall, a wolf bone mask… they didn’t have stilts, they had rollerblades with… well, blades on them, as-well as king claws attached onto the gloves… like your gloves, you heard the soft pants of the hider, since the deer mask had a ‘micro head’ (A device that can improve hearing, even for the slights movements)… you heard it was a woman, an injured woman…

Jinx

Her soft, shaky breaths filled the room, a piece of sharp, rugged glass clenched in her hand, she hid round a corner, a seeker was nearby, they were bad people, murdered and skinned those who got in their way, they feasted on children, well, from what she heard… Jinx was a hider, if anything, it was a game of hide and seek, that was what she told the younglings at the hiders base, she would say…

“It’s nothing to worry about, when you’re my age, you’ll go out for food and resources” She would smile…

“And if us hiders get caught…” She hesitates…

“Then the game ends…”

The kids never knew what that ment… they thought it was a game, she knew it wasn’t, she watched her parents get mauled by the sharp bone masks of The Seekers, the sickening crunching of bones and screams of pain flooded her memory…

She covered her mouth, violet red eyes wide and shrunk in fear, she couldn’t move… even if she tried… reaching out… she quickly slams down on the fire alarm, the distraught loud alarm screeching through the building, giving her the advantage to run, she swiftly nudged past the wolf Seeker, it was curled up… but as she ran down the hall… at the end, she ran past a deer Seeker, just stood there, she made direct eye contact with the mask… it felt like time slowed, its head turned as she crashed out the window, a bloodcurdling scream escaped her mouth as she fell…

Rainy days have a special way of making us feel cozy, calm, and peaceful.

On days when it rains, it's easy to find joy in simple things - baking, reading, enjoying a warm drink, or gentle movement.

It's a reminder that our good mood doesn't have to depend on the weather. Instead, happiness is something we choose for ourselves.

Rainy, misty days are one of my favorites. I often opt to draw open the curtains, prop open the windows in order to enjoy the moment. Listening to the softly falling rain can be therapeutic for me.

In fact, the American Heart Association did a study where it showed how listening to rain has a calming and soothing effect on our nervous system.

I recall one particularly gray, moody afternoon. My dog and I took to the nearby trails. Walking through the forest, listening to the gentle tapping of rain on decaying leaves, it was easy to imagine being a character in a gothic novel.

That's because when the rain pours down, it's akin to the world slowing down, inviting us to step back from the hustle and bustle.

Rainy days remind us that in a world that's always rushing, true wealth lies in a quiet and calm mind.

The first signs of spring are especially welcomed on a rainy day.

Imagine looking our your window to the snowdrops below, with a warm cup of coffee in your hand.

I don't live in a fairy-wood thatched cottage, but I appreciate my quiet neighborhood and enjoy the sound of raindrops gently pattering on the window.

Rainy days are good for the soul.

In acknowledging how rain nourishes the natural world, we recognize how we should spend time tending to ourselves.

I started reading Nature's Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation That Starts in Your Yard, by Douglas W. Tallamy. The title already makes me love this book.

I haven't finished the book yet, so I'll wait to recommend it, but the principle that we should garden to save ecosystems right in our own backyard is something I deeply agree with and try to practice in my own life. In fact, I've done so for years.

This isn't a new concept, in fact, it's one of the oldest practices.

Anyway, I digress. I heard it said once that there is no bad weather, we are simply not dressed well enough. Perhaps, that's true.

Besides, would we truly appreciate sunny days without knowing gray skies?

It's the contrast between the calming energy of rain and the invigorating energy of the sun that makes us appreciate both.
