Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah has announced retirement from the T20 Internationals, and will hang up his boots after the ongoing series against India. “I think it’s the right time to retire from this format. I’ll try to concentrate on ODIs that are coming up,” the player said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the second T20I between India and Bangladesh. The all-rounder batter,…

West Indies 325 for 6 (Jangoo 104*, Carty 95, Rishad 2-69) beat Bangladesh 321 for 5 (Mahmudullah 84*, Mehidy 77, Soumya 73, Jaker 62*, Joseph 2-43) by four wicketsJangoo added 132 runs for the fifth wicket with Carty, and when West Indies lost two wickets in quick succession, he combined with Gudakesh Motie for an unfinished 90-run partnership for the seventh wicket to take them home. Motie remained unbeaten on 44 off 31 balls, hitting three sixes and as many fours. Jangoo's innings was resplendent with six fours and four sixes.Bangladesh reached 321 for five on the back of four fifties. Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali added 150 runs in an unbroken sixth-wicket stand, a Bangladesh record. The team also struck 12 sixes in the innings, their second-most in ODIs. West Indies, however, had their own big-hitting show in the bank.Brandan King picked up where he left off in the second ODI, as he cracked two fours and a six off Nasum Ahmed in the second over of the innings. His innings was cut short in the same over after a mix-up with his opening partner Alick Athanaze over a non-existent run. Athanaze himself did not last long, getting yorked in an attempted sweep in Nasum's next over.Keacy Carty was instrumental in the chase•Randy BrooksHasan Mahmud then had Shai Hope caught at slip for three before Sherfane Rutherford and Carty stabilised the innings with a 55-run fourth-wicket stand. Taskin Ahmed dealt West Indies a further jolt but dismissing Rutherford for 30.Carty was steady at the other end, already having struck two fours. Afif dropped him on 22 before Carty went after the Bangladesh spinners in the middle overs. He struck Rishad Hossain for consecutive fours in the 18th over, before hammering Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a six and a four in the 21st over. Jangoo struck Nasum for three fours in a short span before lofting Afif for his first six.It was in the 34th over that Bangladesh, perhaps, truly let the game slip. Jangoo had miscued one off Rishad, only to see substitute fielder Parvez Hossain Emon drop the chance while running back ffrom mid-off. Rishad did dismiss Carty next ball, with Soumya taking a low catch at point. He also took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Roston Chase but Jangoo's miss came back to haunt them.Immediately after Chase's exit, Jangoo slogged Mehidy for his second six, before Motie and Jangoo struck Mahmud for a six each in the 43rd over. They struck one four each in the following over bowled by Taskin, before the pair completed the chase.Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Soumya Sarkar added 136 runs for the third wicket•Randy BrooksThe day could have belonged to Bangladesh given how they batted. After a disastrous start, losing Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das in the third over to be reduced to 9 for 2, Soumya and Mehidy resurrected the innings with a 136-run third wicket partnership. Alzarri Joseph hurried Tanzid with a bouncer with the left-hander top-edging a pull shot. Litton's horror run in ODIs continued when he edged a wide one to King at first slip.Mehidy was positive from the onset, hitting five boundaries in the powerplay. Soumya, who was dropped on nought, opened up after the powerplay. He played the upper-cut against Romario Shepherd for a six, before pasting Chase and Motie for a six each in consecutive overs.Shortly after Soumya was dropped for a second time, on 45 by Jangoo, Mehidy struck debutant Jediah Blades for a four a six. Soumya added a four to take 16 runs off the over, before getting two more fours off his next. Soumya was on a roll when he struck Motie for his fourth six, but fell next ball when the left-arm spinner trapped him in front. Soumya's 73 came at a run a ball, including six fours and four sixes.Six overs after Soumya's dismissal, Rutherford's pinpoint throw from point found Mehidy short at the striker's end as he fell for 77 off 73 balls. Rutherford then had Afif Hossain caught at the midwicket boundary for 15, as Bangladesh again lost two wickets in quick succession. But the last 20 overs belonged to Jaker and Mahmudullah. The pair had already added 96 runs in the first ODI, but this time they went far better. After Jaker struck his first two fours, Mahmudullah crashed Motie down the ground for his first six, before hitting Chase for his second, over long-off.Jaker joined in the six hitting, when he slammed Shepherd over cover, followed by Mahmudullah dragging Rutherford from outside off to a six over square-leg. Bangladesh scored 59 runs in the last four overs, taking them to a strong total. It was ultimately not enough.Mohammad Isam is ESPNcricinfo's Bangladesh correspondent. @isam84

[ad_1] Sanju and Surya dismantle Bangladesh. Source ( Indiancricketteam Insta) With the T20 series already sealed, India came out all guns blazing in the third game against Bangladesh, delivering a commanding performance with the bat. Sanju Samson stole the spotlight with a blistering 111 off just 47 balls, supported by captain Suryakumar Yadav’s powerful 75. Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya carried the momentum, propelling India to a record 297/6. It was the highest T20I total in a match featuring two Test-playing nations. Bangladesh managed only 164/7, falling 133 runs short, which is a huge margin in this format. The Indian team got off to a flying start, with Sanju taking charge early on. His partner, Abhishek Sharma, fell for just four to a sharp and short delivery from Tanzim Hasan. Bangladesh would have hoped to capitalise on that breakthrough, but things unraveled differently, when Surya joined Sanju at the crease. The duo complemented each other, dismantling the Bangladeshi bowlers and sending the ball to all corners of the ground. India stormed to 82 in the first six overs, making their aggressive intent clear. The standout feature of Sanju’s innings was his clarity of thought and precise shot selection —qualities that had eluded him in earlier outings. He seemed to be hitting sixes at will, with every plan the bowlers tried backfiring spectacularly. It’s rare for Surya’s brilliance to take a backseat, but Sanju’s knock was nothing short of extraordinary, as he relentlessly punished the attack. The pair brought up the hundred-run partnership in style, with Sanju hammering Rishad Hossain for five consecutive sixes, leaving Bangladesh reeling and propelling India to a colossal 152 in just 10 overs. The onslaught showed no signs of slowing down, as Sanju raced to his maiden T20I century in just 40 balls. His scintillating knock came to an end at 111, when Mustafizur Rahman outfoxed him with a slower delivery. Surya followed soon after, dismissed by Mahmudullah for a brilliant 75. With India firmly in control, Pandya and Riyan carried the momentum forward, playing fearless cricket. Pandya, in particular, displayed breathtaking power with some jaw-dropping strokes. Although the wickets of these two and Nitish Kumar Reddy fell in the final overs, the damage was already done, as India posted a staggering 297/6. The Indian dominance continued with the ball, as Mayank Yadav struck gold with his first delivery, dismissing Parvez Hossain Emon. Bangladesh struggled to find momentum, losing their second wicket in the third over, when Washington Sundar removed Tanzid Hasan. After a few runs coming in the middle, Ravi Bishnoi outfoxed Najmul Hossain Shanto, deepening Bangladesh’s troubles at 59/3 by the end of the powerplay. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy tried to stabilise the innings by rotating the strike and finding occasional boundaries. However, in an attempt to accelerate, Das was caught in the deep, handing Bishnoi his second wicket. By the end of 15 overs, Bangladesh were struggling at 130/5, with new batter Mahmudullah unable to stay at the crease for long. With the run rate pressure mounting and limited batting depth, Bangladesh was choked out of the contest, eventually falling short by 133 runs. Hridoy fought valiantly with a well-made 63, helping Bangladesh reach 164/7, but it was not enough to challenge India’s massive total. Sri Lanka lose to Bangladesh, face elimination from World Cup
by Rex Clementine
Sri Lanka’s T-20 World Cup campaign is almost over following their two-wicket loss to Bangladesh in Dallas on Saturday. The former champions have now lost both their games in the group stage and face elimination from the 20-nation tournament.
Wanindu Hasaranga’s side still have an outside chance to go through provided results of other teams go in their favour but nothing is left in their hands now as Bangladesh along with South Africa are expected to go through.
Batting had been sloppy in their opening game against South Africa and although they got a good start against Bangladesh, the middle order failed to capitalize.
After Pathum Nissanka posted a blistering 47 from 28 balls and at 100 for three with six overs remaining, they were looking good to get 160. But poor batting saw them managing only 24 runs in the last six overs, in which stage they lost six wickets.
It was leg-spinner Rishad Hossain who helped Bangladesh pull things back with two wickets in two deliveries. Sri Lanka failed to get the scoreboard ticking from thereon and a target of 125 was well below par.
Bowlers did a stellar job despite sending down 12 wides but they had too little do defend.
Nuwan Thushara was the pick of the bowlers claiming four wickets for 18 runs. Heading into the last two overs, Sri Lanka needed two wickets and had 12 runs to defend.
Dasun Shanaka was called up to bowl the penultimate over and he served a full toss which was duly dispatched by Mohammad Mahmudullah for six. The middle order batter ensured that Bangladesh got home with an over to spare.
Bangladesh had a shaky start losing three wickets for 28 runs inside the Power Play, but Towhid Hridoy hit three consecutive sixes off Wanindu Hasaranga to help his side recover.
Hasaranga went past Lasith Malinga’s tally of 107 wickets to become the highest wicket taker for Sri Lanka in T-20 Internationals but that was little consolation for the captain or the team.

T20 World Cup: South Africa Beat Bangladesh In Record-breaking New York Nailbiter
Tumblr media
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium: Spinner Keshav Maharaj claimed two wickets while defending 10 runs in the final over as South Africa came up with a brilliant bowling effort to defend the lowest score in the history of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup to beat Bangladesh by four runs in a Group D match at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium here on Monday. With Bangladesh needing 11 runs to chase a target of 114 successfully, Maharaj bagged the wickets of Mahmudullah (20) and Jaker Ali (8) as Bangladesh were restricted to 109/7 in 20 overs. This is South Africa's third win in as many matches and has virtually sealed a place in the Super 8 stage. No team had ever successfully defended a total as low as 113/6 in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup history, but South Africa’s attack pulled off a Manhattan miracle. After Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller had rescued the Proteas with a 79-run stand, Pacers Kagiso Rabada (2/19) and Anrich Nortje (2/17) played crucial roles in limiting the Bangladesh batting line-up. Towhid Hridoy almost played a winning hand with his sparkling 37 (34), but it all came down to a dramatic final over by Keshav Maharaj. After dismissing Jaker Ali (8 from 9), Maharaj was inches away from conceding the final runs, with Mahmudullah caught on the fence for 20 (27) with Bangladesh needing six to win from the final two balls. And new batter Taskin Ahmed wasn’t able to find the maximum off the closing ball of the innings as South Africa made it three wins from three to top Group D. The Bangladesh top order scrapped through a testing opening period in their chase, reaching the end of the Powerplay on 29/1, with opener Tanzid Hasan (9 from 9) the only batter dismissed – caught behind off Kagiso Rabada. But South Africa’s leading bowlers hit back through the middle overs to set up a nailbiter. Keshav Maharaj struck with his very first ball to get Litton Das for 9 from 13, and Anrich Nortje did damage to remove Najmul Hossain Shanto (14 from 23) and Shakib Al Hasan (3 from 4). A superb knock of 37 from 34 balls by Towhid Hridoy gave the Tigers a terrific chance, only for the match to take another swing in momentum when he was trapped lbw by Rabada to leave Bangladesh five down with 20 runs still required at exactly a run a ball. The game went down to the final over, bowled by the spinner Maharaj, who picked up two wickets and got away with a pair of full tosses from the two final balls of the innings as South Africa somehow escaped with a four-run margin of victory. Earlier, South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. An excellent partnership between Heinrich Klaasen (46 from 44) and David Miller (29 from 38) helped the Proteas recover to 113/6 after losing four early wickets. It was the Tigers who enjoyed the better of the opening stages, even after Quinton de Kock banged ten runs from the first three balls of the innings. Tanzim Hazan Sakib did much of the damage in the Powerplay, removing Reeza Hendricks (0 from 1), De Kock (18 from 11), and Tristan Stubbs (0 from 5), with Taskin Ahmed also getting in on the act to clean up captain Aiden Markram (4 from 8). And that flurry of early wickets left South Africa on 25/4 at the end of the opening six overs, but with Klassen and Miller still out in the middle and eyeing another rescue job. The pair put on a solid recovery partnership worth 79 at a run-a-ball, lifting South Africa to triple figures. Both set batters fell in the death overs as they looked to accelerate, but 113/6 could well prove tricky on a surface that offered plenty for the bowlers. Brief scores: South Africa 113/6 in 20 overs (Heinrich Klaasen 46, David Miller 29; Tanzim Hasan Sakib 3-18, Taskin Ahmed 2-19) beat Bangladesh 109/7 in 20 overs (Towhid Hridoy 37, Mahmudullah 20; Keshav Maharaj 3-27, Anrich Nortje 2-17, Kagiso Rabada 2-19) by four runs. Litton Das returns to Bangladesh for Family Emergency
Litton Das returned home due to a “personal emergency,” but is expected to rejoin the Bangladesh camp on Friday before their next match against Sri Lanka.
Tumblr media
Litton Das of Bangladesh returned home midway through the World Cup 2023 due to a “family emergency.” However, the Dinajpur-born cricketer is scheduled to join the national squad on Friday, November 3, prior to the team’s training session.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media and communications manager Rabeed Imam verified the developments surrounding Litton.
“Due to a family emergency, Liton took a leave and will join the team ahead of the team’s training session scheduled for November 3 in Delhi,” Rabeed was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.
According to sources, Litton, 29, and his wife Debosri Biswas Sonchita are expecting their first child.
Litton is anticipated to play Bangladesh’s penultimate league encounter against Sri Lanka on Monday, November 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi because he is slated to return on Friday.
Litton has scored 225 runs in seven matches, with two half-centuries and a best score of 76 against England at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
Bangladesh, who finished ninth in the rankings, became the first team to be officially eliminated from the World Cup 2023. The Tigers, however, may still qualify for the Champions Trophy in 2025 if they win their next two matches against Sri Lanka and Australia. In Dharamsala, Shakib Al Hasan’s team defeated Hashmatullah Shahidi’s Afghanistan by six wickets. They have since lost six consecutive matches. Except for Litton and Mahmudullah Riyad, none of their hitters have been able to compete.
