Choso and Little Sister! Reader
This was the Request of a lovely Anonnymous, i hope You enjoy it sweetie!(sorry if it's a little short!)
Genre: Headcanons
Reader: female
Warnings: MANGA AND ANIME SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!, READ UNDER YOUR OWN RISK!!mentioned death, Kenjaku is a Terrible father, but Choso is a sweetheart. I think nothing more. Fluff.
you were another of Noritoshi Kamo's experiments.
You were the only girl, Noritoshi wanted to see if maybe using a female container would finally create something "interesting" to his liking.
but unfortunately (or fortunately) you did not meet his expectations in the slightest, even if you were more stable and humanoid than most of your brothers.
He wasn't disappointed, but he definitely wasn't surprised.
Choso, Kechizu and Esou tried to encourage you at the time, since they had all received similar treatment to you at the time and they wanted to help you not take it to heart.
Choso especially with his big brother complex had a great pleasure in comforting you, not only because of his burning hatred towards his father, but because in general he found that he liked the feeling of being loved by you.
You loved all your brothers, Kechizu and Esou also protected you a lot from Kamo.
They all had a certain special attachment to you, being the only girl, they felt like they had to protect you, you never felt excluded with them unlike with your father.
but eventually everything went upside down.
and then you were sealed with your brothers, for a long, long time.
but then you woke up.
and your first impulse was to see your brothers.
Fortunately (at the time) Kechizu, Esou and Choso were fine, but everything had changed drastically since the Edo Period. everything was so modern.
and humans were...well, normal. You knew you wouldn't have the chance to have a normal life being what you were. You weren't human or curse completely.
Choso had that same line of thinking, so he allied himself with Geto. I thought that this way they would have a better chance of living. a world for you...
but then Kechizu and Esou died...
and you could feel it very vividly when their lives ended...
and you felt horrible.
Choso did everything he could to comfort you, he would do what he used to do when they were young, end whatever had hurt them.
This Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kusigaki killed their brothers and hurt you, they will not come out alive.
Now it was just you and Choso. so he became considerably more clingy and protective of you.
nothing invasive, he simply did things like always go with you or not leave you alone with Curses that he considered "untrustworthy" like Mahito (rightfully so).
If someone (for example, Jogo) directly seeks a physical fight with you, Choso will practically teleport in front of you to cover you and HE will be the one to threaten him with Violence.
Nobody fucks when it comes to you.
You are someone curious, so you try to learn some things from humans, as part of you wants to be like them. Choso understands this and supports you 100% (although he sees it more as a way to "know how the enemy thinks").
HE IS SO GENTLE WITH YOU, if you insist on wanting to develop a cursed technique, he will teach you his Blood technique, but don't expect him to teach you more of the Theory (of the little he knows about his own technique), Choso will be breaks my heart at the thought of hitting YOU to train🥺
He just doesn't see it necessary at first because "why would you need to fight if I'm always protecting you?" But in an innocent way. He's just a little Paranoid and scare to let you on your own knowing what happen to your brothers.
Also, if he goes somewhere on his own, he brings you things that he considers "cute" or "girlish" (because he is still used to having only one younger sister), such as flowers, accessories, decorations, toys, etc.
Wildly protective, even over small things, you can't blame him after what he went through with his brothers. If you get into a fight with Jogo or Mahito, Choso-nissan is about to have a "talk" with him if you know what I mean.
If you manage to have a cursed technique useful enough to send you into combat, Choso will always be near you, without exception. And always with the same "it is my duty as the older brother to protect you"
Although the more experience you gain and the better you are at fighting, you and Choso develop an almost impenetrable joint fighting style. so he relaxes a little. not much, but a little.
If we go further into the story, you two were separated by the time he went after Itadori, although it wasn't exactly by choice, "Geto" said it was unfair that you both went, which is why you were originally going to take on Kugisaki.
but you got lost.
Now, I can honestly see Choso not letting you participate in the Shibuya massacre mostly out of practicality, so when you saw the amount of deaths they had caused, it really came as a surprise.
but when you felt something strange...
the same feeling as when they killed Kechizu and Esou...but this was not Choso...
You went to look for him, and when he explained the situation, it was a shock to say the least.
actually "Geto" was Noritoshi Kamo...
your father...
and Yuji Itadori was your younger brother....
It was a lot to digest.
but they didn't waste time going to confront him, after all Choso almost killed his/your brother!
(You definitely wanted Yuji to call you "One-chan"/"One-san" even just once, because for once you weren't the youngest sibiling).
(If, similarly to Choso, you are having visions of false memories where everyone is a happy family, this feeds EVEN MORE that need to hear it directly from Yuji. You want your cute little brother back :( )
With the addition of Yuji to the mix, everything becomes more chaotic, but in some ways, happier.
Now you feel like you finally have a responsibility, taking care of Yuji like a good big sister, so you constantly ask Choso for advice on doing so, which makes his heart MELT.
For Yuji it would be quite strange at first, but unlike Choso you don't seem older than him, but eventually he gets used to your presence, and since you didn't try to kill him, he warms up to you much faster.
If Yuji calls you "Onee-san" either to say that you're "something like his Big sister" or by accident, the boy won't let go of your hug (and additionally Choso, because he LOVES your hugs) for at least an hour. .
Choso continues to watch you like a Falcon. Even if you have Yuji now, he doesn't neglect you in the least. He tries to be aware of your emotions, especially with the losses that occur at that point in the story.
As I said above, one way in which you and Choso express affection for each other is through hugs, he is tall, so he gives the BEST BEAR HUGS IN THE WORLD and even though you are smaller than him, you give strong hugs, for so they use this as a great source of comfort.
It is a habit that you have had since you were "born" after all.
Yuji tries to teach you and Choso basic normal human things, which is pretty fun because it's like teaching an adult baby how to walk again🤣😅
(If you see The Human Worm you will definitely end up crying, you can't help it, you identify a lot with the main character)
Now that you have the chance, Choso is fine with you experiencing as many "normal" things as you want! whether interacting with other humans, having friends, having hobbies, etc.
He is happy to see you every day being happier yourself :,)
definitely big on preventing Kenjaku's comments from sticking in your head, he assures you that you are interesting and unique in your own way (and that Kenjaku is shit, so his opinion doesn't count).
I also think that at this point Choso would be more open with you with his insecurities, even if he wants to maintain the big brother image, he knows that you have the right to think for yourself and have your own point of view, and it feels WRONG to hide things from you.
He already feels bad enough for having taken the "easy way" due to the fact that humans wouldn't accept them, and that's why he left Yuji alone, and dragged you with him... dragged you to a life where you killed people, REAL humans...
but fortunately you were able to see things in a similar way to Yuki, yes, you are not human as such, but you two feel, you can suffer, you can be happy, you can empathize, isn't that enough to be human?
A part of you didn't understand. But you were there for you brother.
In general, Choso is a very loving older brother, who loves you with everything he is, he will do ANYTHING to protect you from everyone, Sukuna, Kenjaku, it doesn't matter, there will be no one to harm you, not with your older brother with you.
He loves you very much.

Shibuya arc thoughts: I had an interesting thought while re-reading a certain scene
Spoilers if u aren’t caught up in the manga:
Okay, this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I always thought that conversation between Kenjaku and Mahito was interesting. The whole concept of their difference in beliefs based off of the proof they both experienced.
Mahito believes that the soul comes before the body because he can transform souls and have them do his bidding as long as he touches a body. It’s instant contact into the soul, and as soon as he alters the shape of the soul, the body changes because the soul takes precedence over the body.
Kenjaku on the other hand believes that the body is the soul and the soul is the body because in his thousand years, not one host body has ever fought him back the way Suguru did to try and save Satoru. He disagrees with Mahito, explaining that the host body’s memories wouldn’t be retained otherwise.
Let’s dissect this a bit.
If a host body was a blank slate and didn’t retain memories, Kenjaku would’ve agreed to Mahito’s conjecture. So, if Suguru had no reaction to Satoru, it would basically prove that once a soul leaves a body, it’s nothing but an empty shell.
But it doesn’t. Suguru does react to Satoru, somehow. Against quite literally all logic. It then challenges Mahito’s beliefs, because a piece of Suguru’s soul is still in the body. It’s not an empty shell. Suguru’s soul didn’t completely leave his body.
But Mahito, who has been through very different experiences, disagrees. He says that their techniques are what makes their perceptions on the matter different.
Kenjaku’s technique involves using his brain (carrier of a soul/consciousness) to take control of a host body. The swapping of souls inside a shell.
Mahito’s technique involves touching a body to take control of a soul. Only then when he changes the shape of a soul does the body change shape too. So to him, souls first, bodies second.
He tells Kenjaku their techniques separate them into two different worlds. Kenjaku replies with “so techniques dictate our worlds, I like that, it’s poetic.”
But the interesting thing is, I don’t actually think they’re disagreeing at all. In fact, I think they’re saying the same thing, just understanding it differently.
Mahito can only change the shape of a body if he touches the soul. That right there shows you that the soul and body are interconnected, like Kenjaku said. You’d think that if souls were completely separate from a body, Mahito’s technique wouldn’t involve the need to physically touch a body. (Even in his domain, where his own soul is all around the opponent, touching their body.)
Maybe the soul does inform the body, but it can never be without it. The body is the soul.
In a way, Satoru was able to replicate Mahito’s domain expansion without needing his cursed technique.
Because his soul could see through the bullshit. And it called out to Suguru. It touched Suguru. It moved him. Their souls somehow made contact.
And something else that I wanted to bring up while reading it.
“Technique dictate our worlds. It’s poetic.”
When I first read it, I was sort of like “…we were just talking about souls and bodies where did this come from?”
And then I thought about it.
How did their techniques affect Satoru and Suguru’s worlds?
At first it brought them together. They were both the strongest. Then it tore them apart.
Suguru’s technique involved him needing to absorb curses. He had to physically ingest them. He had no choice but to take in all of the grime of the world.
Satoru’s technique is the exact opposite. He has Infinity. Nothing can touch him. He’s impermeable. A flick of his finger and the curse is gone, no contact needed.
Is that what Kenjaku meant when he said it was poetic? Because his and Mahito’s techniques are really not all that different. They both use other people’s bodies to do their bidding and bend to their wills as they please. And for that, they work together. But Suguru and Satoru’s techniques were complete opposites and it eventually came between them. Suguru needing to give pieces of himself every time he used it and Satoru remaining untouchable.
It’s almost as if Kenjaku is saying, tauntingly, “maybe if you weren’t so different this situation would never have happened.”
Suguru’s feeble attempt to stop him is for naught. An arm trying to strangle him to no avail can’t do anything to save Satoru. He tried out of love.
But sometimes love really isn’t enough.

Your MBTI, Your Relationship With JJK Characters Part 1
a/n: I had this random idea, describing what relationship you would have with JJK Characters depending on your MBTI, in my opinion ofc, so it's not necessarily true!! 🫶🏻
Requests are open 💌
( ISFJ + INTJ )
PART 2
Tumblr media
ISFJ:
Yuuji Itadori = Boyfriend
Like the sun and the moon, you both complete each other. He consistently admires your dedication to protect him and prioritize his well-being. He's the type who cares for others more than himself so finding someone ( You ) who places him first, warms his heart and makes him feel special. He often encourages you to step out of your comfort zone. Yuuji brings enthusiasm that lights up your world, and infuses joy into your life. In return, you bring peace and tranquility and comfort (100% your relationship would last forever).
Megumi Fushiguro = Soulmate.
Both of you share many qualities making you almost identical. The most prominent one is your dedication to protect others and loved ones and that what drew you closer and formed your soulmate bond. Your bond is full of strong sense of loyalty support and commitment, always having each other's backs. Together you maintain a balanced atmosphere. Your bond remains entirely platonic.
Choso Kamo = Bestfriend
He considers you as a family member. You don't need words to understand each other, you spend a lot of time together so it became easy for you to read each other like an open book. Comfortable silence is cherished given your shared quiet nature. You always make sure to make each other feel included in everything whether they are family gatherings or normal hangouts. You always stand by each other through highs and lows. You serve as his emotional support and you find in him a thoughtful listener. Fostering a sense of balance in your relationship.
Mahito = Enemy
Both of you are extreme opposites, you live to protect and he lives to kill. You have an intense and hostile relationship. Mahito always has to provoke and trigger you somehow targeting your loved ones. He craves violence and he thinks you're the best opponent to have a brutal duel with. Your fights are always driven by hatred from your side and amusement from Mahito's side. Both of you always try to sabotage each other's efforts, you strive to maintain a safe environment and Mahito works on creating constant chaos tension and threat.
INTJ:
Geto Suguru = Boyfriend
Suguru is an INTJ himself, so it's like finding your other half. You have a unique and intellectual dynamics. Your relationship built on shared interests and goals and mutual appreciation of each other's qualities. Despite being independent and self-reliant you managed to create a strong bond based on encouragement, pushing each other forward to reach your goals.
Ryomen Sukuna = Enemy
You and Sukuna are alike but you lead the good side while he leads the dark side. He takes the whole rivalry thing personal, as much as he hates you and tries to kill you whenever he grasps the chance he still has a lot of respect for you. In fights both you and Sukuna always try to assert dominance. Whenever you are in the same place everyone around can feel the suffocating tension making everyone feel and unsafe. You share the same qualities however you use them to help people and Sukuna uses them to break people.
Yuta Okkotsu = Ex-boyfriend
INTJ's logical and rational thinking clashes with Yuta's emotional needs he is an emotionally dependent person who inserts feelings most of the time almost in everything. But you always depend on the power of mind overshadowing your emotions. The clash of needs results in misunderstanding leading you to break up but you're still good friends though.
Megumi Fushiguro = Bestfriend
You are the quiet and composed duo. Both of you enjoy each other's presence silently, while sitting in a comfortable silence. When you are in the mood for a discussion you often engage in intellectual chats. You enjoy staying inside doing indoor activities like reading or cooking. Hanging out together is a free therapy for both of you.

Honestly Geto and Gojo having the same death anniversary which happens to be the most romantic day in Japan, with a character in-story stating how romantic it is should be enough evidence to convince anybody that SatoSugu are supposed to be a romance.
On top of that, we hear that JJK0 is about Yuuta and Rika's love but it's also about Geto and Gojo's relationship.
Then Gege Akutami specifically assigning break-up songs to Geto and Gojo.
AND THEN; they each get canon songs made in each other's POV speaking about their feelings specifically for one another. Where Gojo's song contains lyrics like "Even though I’ve come to know the scent of you being different from mine" and "Any prayer, any word Could bring us closer, but they couldn’t reach you Just like a silent love, In the summery colors along my cheeks". And Geto's song has lyrics like "Even trivial conversations are fine. Show me your blushing face once more" and "It exists only here. I want to touch you" and "Though I understand a wounded heart. Why do I end up hurting and leaving the same scars?"
The animation team going out of their way to give these two more soft moments hanging, creating visual parallels through the Betta Fishes, the flowers, the entire OP for Hideen Inventory but especially the part where we are seeing Gojo's vision being filled with Geto looking amazing while he rides Geto's rainbow dragon.
I saw someone say we're just projecting western views of romance onto satosugu but like, LOOK AT ALL THIS. I cannot stress enough the insanity of their death dates. It's like two people dying one after the other on Valentine's Day. This is some Romeo & Juliet bullshit. JJK in general has next to no romance, no one's pining after each other, the few times there are implications, it's very short. The most obvious one is Mechamaru and Miwa. Now imagine if Mechamaru and Miwa were the ones who got Ao No Sumika and Akari. Imagine they got 5 episodes dedicated to their story and Mechamaru dies on December 24th and Miwa's the one forced to put him out of his misery for betraying them to Mahito and Kenjaku.
Okay do you fucking see how ridiculous denying SatoSugu is? If Mechamaru and Miwa got all that even WITHOUT saying an 'I love you' no one would question their romance.
I know people keep making fun of shonen animes for having a stronger 'romance' between the two guy leads than with any other love interest but I've seen that stuff and even there it isn't nearly as deliberately romantic as SatoSugu. I can tell that Kuroko & Kagami, Gon & Killua or Levi & Erwin are supposed to be friends, the shipping thing is based on the established friendship stuff but SatoSugu are so blatant it's hard to think of another explanation.
I saw a point about how people are projecting western perspectives of romance on platonic friendship expression in a different culture, which I do get, I think it's a valid point. Idk much about how people express friendship in Japan but I have heard there's a lot more skinship and openness as compared to western cultures.
But w/ SatoSugu there isn't anything that can be read as purely platonic, there's always an ambiguity or it's directly romantic.

Back again cause I cannot get enough of Mahito. I've got Mahito brain rot but asking this time for both W and X just Mahi this time though he's so baby girl. 💖😩🩷🥰😘
I’m happy that you’re back! I love receiving requests 😄🩷 and yesss Mahi is so bbg
_______________________________________________
W - Wild card (random headcanon)
Mahito doesn’t like it when you’re frightened. That’s something that he really doesn’t understand no matter how hard he tries to.
As a cursed spirit born from human hatred and fear, Mahito loves to terrorize humans. He finds genuine delight in their screams of terror or anger. It fuels him.
But with you…?
He doesn’t want to hurt you.
He wants to keep you safe and content. Mahito feels the best when your energy is at peace. It is likely due to the curse bond, and it has definitely turned you into one of his biggest weaknesses. The smart thing to do would be to kill you because you could be used against him by other cursed spirits. But he would never dream of doing that. The idea of you dying makes Mahito sick to his stomach. Especially if it was by his hands.
Because of this, Mahito is very possessive over you. He needs to make sure that your life is perfect according to his standards. He won’t settle for any less. He needs to keep his human protected at all costs.
Also, he loves when you call him ‘Mahi’. There’s something very endearing about it. It sounds cute and delicate, which is a bit ironic considering he fucks you into the mattress nearly every night ;)
_______________________________________________
X - x-ray (what is going on underneath their clothes?)
Oooo la la.
Mahito usually wears baggy clothes. One of his favorites is a basic black shirt which hangs loosely around his collarbones. It brings attention to his neck and strong forearms.
You always end up looking at his arms and hands. They look so muscular and lean. Mahito would have no trouble wielding a sword or other weapons. He appears as though he has effortless strength. Just naturally strong with veiny hands. Your eyes often linger a bit too long.
You love to watch Mahito move chess pieces with those hands of his. See how they work and grip the small pieces. It never fails to give you dirty thoughts. You find yourself imagining those big hands wrapped around your breasts instead. Squeezing the soft flesh firmly.
And when Mahi is naked..?
His abs are perfect. He looks like he was chiseled out of clay. And the stitch marks run in symmetrical patterns across his skin. You want to count all of them and see how many there are.
Mahito is clueless about his own attractiveness.
He truly has no idea that his physique is considered highly attractive in the human world. He would genuinely be surprised to learn that hundreds of human women would be interested in sleeping with him. You haven’t told him about any of that yet. You’re far too busy appreciating his body all on your own.
And his dick?
It’s big. Even when it’s flaccid. When he is fully hard, you get to see the size and girth in all its glory. It looks really big inside of your smaller hand. But to you, it’s the perfect size. It hurts slightly if he fucks you too hard. But you would be lying if you said that you didn’t enjoy it.
He doesn’t have much body hair. You find yourself wondering if he shaves it, but perhaps it has something to do with being a cursed spirit. You doubt that Mahito would know the first thing about shaving.

Hello, hello, have you seen the newest update of JJK? I'm so proud of my best boy, Yuuji....
Can, I ask, why do you think Yuuji is one of the character that is so underated in JJK? He is the mc, but many people (in fandom) treat him like a side character? At first, I don't think so, but I love many shounen, and somehow Yuuji is one of the mc that is underated in their own story....
Sorry if I'm wrong, just I love Yuuji and want him to get the spotlight he deserve....
Sorry it took me so fucking long to reply to this.
If you think that the story doesn’t focus on him enough then I don’t really agree with that but I don’t think it’s wrong of you to feel like that. But I’m not sure this is even what you meant, I just wanted to move this out of the way. And the following paragraphs will explain that a bit. That will be the nice part of this reply.
JJK isn’t a story that mainly follows one character and the plot happens only where that character is. For example, as much as I watched of Demon Slayer (I think up to season 3 and I have no interest in picking it up again ) or read of the Chainsaw Man (first part, I got bored a few chapters into the second), made me think that those stories are too focused on one character. Villains did villain things on the side but the story always came back to the main character and focused on him in the end and plot usually happened where he happened to be, and he was the one to kill the bosses. In JJK even if the story lines feed into each other, they have much more independence and it doesn’t feel that Yuuji is the centre of the universe and the story just waits for him to move. And my personal preference is for the JJK kind of story, as I said CSM and Demon Slayer didn’t manage to hold my interest.
It’s just a matter of preference. And If you’d like the story to be more streamlined around him there’s nothing wrong with that.
That being said, I think that the JJK story still strongly centres around Yuuji.
He’s connected to all the most memorable and important villains of his time (aka those that didn’t die before he became a sorcerer). He’s one of the linchpins of Kenjaku’s plan and the only one of their experiments that they seem attached to, he’s Mahito’s obsession, he’s Sukuna’s nightmare and now also obsession.
Yuuji is also strongly connected to all the major JJK themes: weakness vs strength, human connection vs loneliness, the value of life, bodily autonomy, humanity vs dehumanisation, oppressive systems of power, tradition, gender stereotypes, drive and agency, jujutsu world vs the normie world, family, love and friendship, new vs old.
I think only Kenjaku also really connects to all of these to the same degree as Yuuji does, though some of the other characters are close like Sukuna, Maki or Megumi. Gojou or Nobara aren’t that strongly connected to some of them. And characters like Getou or Yuuta are even more tangentially connected to some of them or not at all. Yuuji really is the one who brings it all together.
Here ends the nice part of this answer. Everything that follows will be rather bitter and unkind towards the JJK fandom. Because I’m really fed up with it as a larger group.
__________________________________
__________________________________
So why does the fandom treat Yuuji like shit? There are a few reasons that can be pointed to and they apply to varying degrees to the behaviour of individual fans.
__________________________________
Part 1 - This fandom is the fucking pits
The fandom in itself is absolute fucking garbage. Like interacting with it will make you lose faith in humanity and give you brain damage.
Casual fans
JJK is a fairly popular title in the west and the fandom is quite big and loud. It’s an ongoing title with a hype anime and there are a lot of casual fans. It’s full of:
People who also like many other things and don’t really follow the story closely and don’t really know the lore.
People who read/watched JJK once and haven’t really taken the time to understand the story and its world.
People who as @/cursedvibes says have issues with object permanence and don’t remember what happened a few chapters earlier, and who feel that if the character isn’t in the frame that means that they are dead and/or forgotten and/or were always irrelevant.
People who don’t really like stories like JJK but have never understood the idea of saying “this is not for me” and moving on. Instead they take it as a personal offence that this popular title doesn’t cater to their specific tastes. And they often have the delusion that their personal taste is the mark of objective quality.
People who only want flashy fights and/or power scaling.
A lot of these people feel that they need to shit out content about JJK on social media because that’ll get them into the trending tags. And since they don’t really have any opinions of their own apart from not being satisfied with JJK they find some cold take that sounds clever to them and regurgitate it over and over again until a new clever-sounding cold take becomes popular, rinse repeat.
Those people should be ignored, blocked or muted. They’re just riding some pathetic bandwagon and clout chasing.
___
Righteous Haters
The cold takes the casual fans regurgitate usually come from people who just thrive on criticising popular things. Those divide into:
The “Intellectuals” who think they are better than the plebs who like popular things. In their mind popular things can do nothing right and are by default shallow and stupid.
The “Enlightened” who will jump at any opportunity to call something problematic and emerge as the morally pure person.
It’s hard to tell whether these people actually read the story and know it well. Their takes are usually very divorced from the text and I’m always on the fence whether it’s due to genuine lack of reading comprehension or willful misinterpretation.
If you engage with these people they will argue with fucking manga panels, like they will not accept the text even if it’s presented to them. They are honestly a joke. But a lot of them will die on the hill of discrediting Yuuji and spread that opinion around wrapped in pseudointellectual language. Some of them will even put on the airs of academia without knowing how to academia a text in any of the many possible academic analysis ways. Or how to academia about social issues. It’s an intimidation tactic that makes me disrespect them.
Among the JJK enlightened you will find a lot of terfy pseudo feminism. It will be very conservative flavoured and really misogynistic, usually not overtly queerphobic but the vibe will be there, and it will aggressively bring up the general fandom opinion that Gege is a man (which may even be true but Gege doesn’t officially gender themself) to attack and discredit Gege and their work, according to the terfy belief that all men are dangerous and evil. There will also be a lot of intellectualised transphobia especially in relation to Kenjaku, but also Uraume, Tengen and Kirara. And all so funny homophobia about how in their opinion Gege is attracted to their male characters.
___
The thirsters
JJK surprisingly aggressively caters to the female and queer gaze in ways that most shounen just don’t. I once wanted to make a joke post titled “The Masculine Forearm, the true main character of JJK” just consisting of panel after panel that is angled in such a way to put the skillfully drawn male hands and strong forearms front and centre. (The masculine hand and forearm are often mentioned in relation to the female gaze.)
I gave up, there’s just too many of those, simply look at the covers. It’s really funny because Gege does not hide the forearms of Yuuji or Megumi, but at least in the earlier manga that I analysed from that perspective, the forearm angles of those two are much tamer than for example when Sukuna or Nanami are shown. It almost feels like Gege knows or subconsciously senses that the forearm is thirst, is fanservice, and Gege is very consistent about not sexualising the teenage girls and likely also the boys.
The forearm is of course the tip of the fanservice iceberg. Everything about the JJK men is very that to the point that JJK is widely known for its sexymen. There are people, including fan creators, in the fandom who have never read or watched JJK, they just learned of the sexymen thirsted hard enough to join the fandom.
These are the people who usually won’t actively attack Yuuji, they will just flood the fandom with the posts about their favs and make it seem that few people care for Yuuji.
There are also Yuuji thirsters but there aren't that many of them.
Yuuji is 15 years old in canon and some people just draw a line at thirsting over a character that is underage in canon. And as long as they don’t insult or harass others about that I don’t give a shit what they do.
But also even if Yuuji was of age, Yuuji is not a prime thirst object. He’s for a slightly more refined palette. And he becomes more desirable if you understand his character better.
On the surface Yuuji is a himbo, a dumb jock with a heart of gold and a cute face. There’s no mystique to him, no edge. This view of him is very widespread. For some thirsters that is enough but it’s not a popular thirst worthy type.
There are some thirsters who actually know the source material and know who Yuuji is but those are people who are in the JJK fandom for more than just thirst.
Generally I don’t have a problem with thirsters but the more ignorant ones contribute to the general fandom idea that there’s nothing interesting to Yuuji.
___
Gojou and SatoSugu fans
I ranted about those people a lot and everything I’ve written about them holds up. A large and loud subset of them will spam all the tags, will create posts that boil down to “JJK is about Gojou (and Getou) actually and everything that happens in JJK is about him (them), regardless if it happens to other characters”. If you don’t actually block them on sight, wading through the main JJK tags is nigh impossible.
Gojou really won the internets and is truly the “strongest” of the JJK sexymen.
The overabundance of content about him exposes a lot of people to the “meta” his fans produce in droves. I put it in quotation marks because fuck, so many of these people are allergic to canon and what they write is deranged fanfiction tagged as meta or discourse. Gojou exists in the western fandom more as headcanon than canon. And to people who aren’t really invested in JJK, he seems like the main and most important character.
There are both shippers, thirsters, casual fans and righteous haters (they hate everything about JJK but Gojou (and Getou) in this group.
And of course they influence the perception of what JJK is, including the perception of Yuuji.
___
Sukuna fans
There are some of them who will spread takes that reduce Yuuji to Sukuna’s skin suit and will generally treat Yuuji as a function of Sukuna, not a separate character. Interestingly enough, Kusakabe is one of them but he pretends to be a Sukuna hater.
___
People who think Kusakabe speaks the truth straight from Gege’s brain
Because the reading comprehension in the fandom is very poor, there are people who take whatever Kusakabe says at face value and will ignore everything else that has happened in the manga thus far. They also haven’t picked up on the fact that Kusakabe has always been deeply biassed against Yuuji.
Why is Kusakabe still alive?
And honestly not only Kusakabe, to them any character that discredits Yuuji is always correct and spot on.
___
Megumi and ItaFushi, SukuFushi fans
There is a subset of those fans that despise Yuuji with a passion. They think that Megumi either should be or is the main character of JJK. They think that Sukuna has been obsessed with Megumi from the start because Megumi is special and has incredible potential. They will pretend that the main JJK storyline revolves around Megumi, they will often ignore Kenjaku completely and pretend they are not the main driver of the story. Because admitting that Kenjaku, not Sukuna was the main villain of the story, would just by itself completely discredit Megumi as the main character, because Megumi barely any connection to Kenjaku, only through Tsumiki and Yorozu, and has only a weak, practical, plot related and not thematic connection to Sukuna. He became Sukuna’s escape plan and a tool to kill Gojou.
He has no connection to any other major villains or antagonists in current day JJK. He’s only connected to Touji and Naoya, but it can be argued that Yuuji had more dealings with Naoya than Megumi.
Yuuji’s connections to Sukuna are:
Practical - being Sukuna’s vessel and cage.
Plot related - he is Kenjaku’s way of controlling Sukuna and being Sukuna’s vessel influences everything about how Yuuji functions in the story and how he relates to other characters.
Emotional - they both harbour strong negative feelings for each other, Sukuna even more than Yuuji.
Familial - they are related. Yuuji doesn’t know and would just likely compartmentalise it. Sukuna pretends he doesn’t care but it’s clear he cares very much actually.
Philosophical - Yuuji by merely being himself challenges Sukuna’s whole worldview.
Thematic - strength vs weakness, sorcerer vs normie, humanity, value of human life, family, love, connection and loneliness, tradition, new vs old, bodily autonomy.
If those Megumi fans are shippers they will often push the dumb himbo stereotype on Yuuji. There are a lot of fics in the ItaFushi and FushiIta tags that will treat Yuuji as the necessary evil but you can really feel that the authors dislike him. Finding fics there from his POV or at least exploring him is a fucking chore. And that is or at least used to be the most popular ship tag for Yuuji. Pages upon pages of stereotyping or downright character assassination working hard to replace the canon Yuuji with the fanon one in the general fandom consciousness.
__________________________________
Part 2 - People say one thing and do/think another
Basically a lot of people are not really self aware or are hypocrites or just repeat things they read and never put any thought into them.
You will see a lot of people criticising shounen tropes. That shounen is formulaic, that the shounen main characters are all the same, that shounen battles are all the same, that shounen main characters are overpowered… and so on and so forth.
Those same people will latch onto Gojou and crown him the main character.
Because faced with Yuuji … they have no fucking clue what to do with Yuuji. They finally got a shounen main character that at first glance might seem like the same old shounen main but very quickly it becomes clear he absolutely isn’t that.
So there are three reactions to that.
Denial
No, Yuuji actually is a stereotypical shounen main. He’s got colourful hair, he’s strong, he fights with his fist, he’s super dumb and kind of a pervert but nice and everyone instantly loves him. He gets power ups and learns everything too easily and too quickly, fights the bosses and breaks the story. And of course he has a sob story and is related to the villain. And his mum has a braid.. She doesn’t, well she does have a ponytail, kinda, in two of her bodies anyway…
And that’s it, there’s all there is to him, there’s nothing more to see.
Faced with canon they will reject all arguments or block you.
___
Rage
Yuuji is so fucking weak, why is he so weak? Why are there other characters in this story that get focus? Why is everyone more powerful than him? Why doesn’t he power up and destroy all the bosses, what kind of fucking shit is this? Well at least there’s Gojou the fucking GOAT, let’s go the strongest!!!
Gojou died? Why? Didn’t he say he was the strongest? Why the fuck is Yuuji there? What can he even do? He wasn’t powering up and bodying opponents so we didn’t really pay attention to whatever was happening with him. This is some fucking ass pull.
They also can’t accept that the final battle isn’t a one vs one, that there’s actually a plan with many aspects and contingencies. That the characters are trying to be rational about this thing, they aren’t driven by their egos and desire for glory, well apart from two, and they just want to do everything they can to get rid of Sukuna and stop Kenjaku.
This is not acceptable. If it’s not hard hits and energy flashes but plans and strategy then it’s not a real shounen fight. Gojou vs Sukuna was kinda a fight like that, of course Sukuna was not doing it right because he was scheming too much. But it should’ve ended there, Gojou’s energy balls should’ve concluded the manga.
If you try to suggest to them that he’s just a different kind of character and JJK isn’t that kind of shounen and that it's actually okay for it to take a different route, the rage will spill. They will not accept that shounen can be many things but they will complain that all shounens are the same and predictable.
___
Condescension
Yuuji isn’t what they want him to be and that’s “objectively” bad writing. That’s it. They will actually list how Yuuji should’ve been written but more importantly how everything should’ve been written and generally Yuuji should’ve never been put forward as the main character because he really doesn’t make sense as one. Gege is just a bad writer and it’s all mid and doesn’t make sense.
What’s even the point? Is there even a story in JJK, what is it even about? The magic system surely doesn’t make any sense, who even understands that? Everyone who says they understand is lying.
Sure, there were some interesting parts in it, so people got hyped, like the Hidden Inventory arc and Shibuya but only until Gojou got sealed, everything after that is just boring and awful and did I mention bad writing?
And all those deaths of fandom sweethearts, pointless. Either they are just for shock value because there was nothing absolutely nothing in the writing that suggested that they might die, od Gege just being mean to the fandom and hating their own characters and Gege should honestly *insert violent ideation*. Or the deaths are too predictable, generally everything is so predictable in JJK, and stereotypical.
Why do people even care or like it, they are objectively wrong if they do. Because hello the writing is so fucking bad, people have no fucking taste honestly. Who even reads that shit anymore?
Why are those people still in the fandom? Fuck knows.. They will spam the tags though, incessantly. The world must know how much they are better than JJK, Gege and those losers who have anything positive to say about JJK.
___
Honestly there is no winning with any of these people. What they claim they want is not what they are ready to embrace or even tolerate. They can’t also accept that maybe JJK just isn’t for them. There must be something wrong with JJK and with Gege because their tastes are universal and objective.
__________________________________
Part 3 - JJK may be a shounen but Yuuji is a shoujo main character
I’ve written about it before (some of it is a bit outdated now due to what was revealed in the manga) but I will always stand by this. Because it really explains everything.
Yuuji isn’t a typical shounen protagonist but if you look at shoujo protagonists you’ll see his type of protagonist. He is of course a mix of both and in the recent chapters he’s leaning a little more shounen but not too much.
He’s not indulging Sukuna, look how little he even speaks in this fight. He’s not revelling in this fight like Gojou had because he’s not fighting for himself. The outcome, not the fight matters. He’s still not ego driven, still two of his win conditions apart from his fighting abilities are his personality and strength of convictions that so deeply unsettle and upset Sukuna.
Recently everyone in the story, apart from Chousou, Higuruma and Toudou puts Yuuji down, discredits all his accomplishments. He even is starting to believe it. Sukuna is continuing to take everyone away from him. And yet Yuuji is still fighting because this is not about his ego. This is about removing the threat that is Sukuna and hopefully saving Megumi. He really puts himself last and isn’t even given the space to feel bad. All of this will just be there to crush him later.
And the fandom just takes every single insult hurled at Yuuji by the other characters at face value, as if the jujutsu world hasn’t always been hostile to him, treated him as less than human. As if those characters were impartial and haven’t been showing their bias towards Yuuji. They don't pick up on the fact that the jujutsu world is rotten to its core and Gege has consistently used the story to question the values of that world.
So lastly the fandom can’t stomach that Yuuji isn’t 100% stereotypically masculine, that his arc isn’t an alpha male power fantasy. That he isn’t written to perfectly embody the conservative gender norms. This is what the weakness accusation is all about, even if the people hurling it would swear up and down that they aren’t misogynists. Because Yuuji isn’t only accused of losing but also of crying, of breaking down, of being scared. This slight proximity to what is considered stereotypically feminine is a vice. One that for many discredits him completely, makes him not worthy of being the main character.
And if you think that I’m reaching with this… It’s a pattern that repeats itself in the fandom. You will see criticism of the JJK girls for not being soft enough, girly enough. Any proximity for masculinity will be zeroed in on and criticised under the guise of “feminism” with the terfy sentiment that female characters can’t be girly anymore. But girly characters like Hana or Yorozu will be hated for their proximity to stereotypical femininity because that’s considered feeble and shallow and unworthy. And just look how the fandom reacted to Megumi having an ugly and hysterical mental breakdown. To him showing weakness and not manning up. To him showing his emotions in such a visceral way.
____
These are the three main reasons why I think Yuuji is so underrated and why so many people will go to great lengths to just shit on him.

For the ship ask, shamelessly targeting your weaknesses: TenKen and ItaMahi
And because I like to set tiny fires: SatoSugu
Oh, spicy! Time to fan that fire 😆
TenKen
Ship It
What made you ship it?
I got interested as soon as we met Tengen in ch 145. Her calling Kenjaku a "child" (unfortunately the official translation forgot about that) and Kenjaku previously calling her basically a stagnant, unimportant geezer made me sure there must be some drama hidden in their past and boy was I right. I initially only saw them as a broken up teacher-student dynamic, where the favourite student went astray or maybe a parent-child one and I still hold onto that (not even Tengen is save from Kenjaku's mommy issues), but it evolved way beyond that. I really fell down the rabbit hole when the fight against Yuki started and I've been down here ever since. Still see them mostly as queer-platonic though, not necessarily romantic or sexual, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of pining and longing and vore to work with.
What are your favourite things about the ship?
I like how we see a completely different side of Kenjaku when they are around Tengen. They act like a petulant child screaming for attention or a slighted ex. They get loud and petty, very unlike their usual composed appearance. And even if Tengen is good at hiding it, she clearly feels something for Kenjaku too because we wouldn't be in this situation if she had just told one of her six eyes users to kill Kenjaku once and for all. It would take more effort to pull them back at the last second than just let them pulverize Kenjaku. Also, generally the dichotomy between them (dark/light, young/old, progress/stagnation etc) and how they are still always drawn to each other gives so much to explore and it only gets better the more information we get. And there's the implication that they both experimented with Sukuna's body, possibly at the same time. Morally dubious scientist power couple?
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
There aren't really that many opinions on them out there...maybe: let Tengen be old. Her whole thing is aging, so I don't think she looked like in that one sketch we got in the Heian era or Nara period before she merged with a Star Plasma Vessel.
ItaMahi
Ship It
What made you ship it?
I'm usually not big on shipping Yuuji with anyone, but the end of the Shibuya arc definitely unlocked something for me and the anime gave me new fuel. Some great fanart and fic did the rest. I think what I like most about it is how it brings out a more cold and cruel side of Yuuji, very unlike what we see in his relationships with other characters except maybe Sukuna, but with Mahito it feels a lot more raw.
What are your favourite things about the ship?
There is just that pure hate and contrary to Sukuna for example, they are on eye level. They develop together, they challenge each other, they bring out the worst in each other. During their fight you really get the feeling of them just desperately clawing at each other and wanting to kill the other by any means necessary. Very beautiful. Mahito enjoying himself during it and Yuuji taking his own satisfaction in chasing him down make it especially juicy. It's so animalistic and pure and could easily turn into great hate sex.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I don't like when people turn this into basically Mahito just torturing and raping Yuuji, but unfortunately that is a big part of the content that does exist for this ship. The great thing about this ship is their dynamic of push and pull and that there isn't any clear power imbalance between them and I personally enjoy seeing Yuuji push Mahito into the dirt and humiliating him. So I only like it if Yuuji is either the more dominant one (don't care about top or bottom) or it switches between them.
SatoSugu
Why don’t you ship it?
Well, I do think they have some feelings for each other that go beyond being ex-high school friends and I think that's pretty much canon too, no matter if you think those feelings are platonic or not. They give me the impression of being very repressed, but who knows, maybe they used to date or maybe they fucked right up until Gojo blew a hole into Geto. Who cares. As you know, it doesn't work for me for similar reasons as you have. I can't stand Geto and I think he brings out the worst in Gojo. Like Gojo is at his most annoying when he's whining about Geto (although his behaviour during the Sukuna fight is a close second). I used to have a bit more appreciation for their bond during Hidden Inventory, but the ever-present fandom of this ship soured me a lot on it. I prefer to stay away as far as I can from it now.
What would have made you like it?
Geto being a less punchable person? Being less bigoted and overall being a grand idiot about it too? There's not much about it that would honestly make me ship it unless you massively change the characters involved.
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
It was very nice of Gojo to not destroy Geto's body out of sentimentality and leave room for Kenjaku to jump in :)

OH, OHHHH— AND ALSO— HIS TSUNDERE ATTITUDE?? so many possibilities with kisses, oml/// somehow baiting him into a kiss would be wild— FLUSTERED JOGO FOR LIIIIFE, PLEASEEEEEEE
Tumblr media
BABYGIRL DOESNT KNOW WHAT TO SAY OR HOW TO ACT
He’s just happily smoking his pipe, he’s aware your there, always knows where you are because even if he hardly says it- he loves you 🤭
Your sit beside him and lean your head on his shoulder, he tsk asking you really had to be right here in her personal space, you knew he didn’t mind, he didn’t actively push you away the way he would Mahito for getting in his face
The side eyes you when you turn your head to look up at him, he sees the confusion on your face, he hums out a sound and gruffly asked “What is it?”
“Look at me? There something-“ he turned his face to you where you quickly but gently grab hid face and kiss him head on smiling against his lips when he made a struggled sound out of shock. He froze and you felt him start to heat up, you got up and rushed away smiling when you felt the intense heat started to radiate
It wasn’t the first time, and it surely wouldn’t be the last,
The next time your were leaning against his shoulder he refused to face you, the memory bringing a blush to his skin as he looked away so you had to get creative!
You were on a mission with Geto and Jogo, it felt like the whole time Geto kept handing you things to hold, and so was born your beautiful entrapment idea 🤭
“Hey Jogo will you hold this for me?” Bringing your hand up he stretched his hand open to take whatever it was you wanted to give him,” you intertwined your fingers with his and held in tight, he pulled away like a leashed animal or like he hand been burnt, but your vice grip on his hand didn’t let him break free, your hand was burning from the rising body temperature from his embarrassment of falling for your tricks and how flustered he had became due to Geto being right there side eyeing both of you with a small smirk entertained with Jogo’s little show he almost died when you pulled roughly and he bumped into you only for you to smack a kiss onto his cheek, he froze and looked away, his clenched jaw and the blush on his face was undeniable, eyes looking away you couldn’t help but aw and squeezed his face in your hands smothering him with kisses, he fought like a child breaking free from his moms kisses, shaking his head left and right without straight out saying no but yelling he didn’t want your kisses, you couldn’t pay him to let you kiss him, but when you went to pull away afterwards his hand never let go completely
Geto was amused and thought maybe just maybe he should become invested into this relationship, it’d be an interesting play to watch unfold
Of course you weren’t happy and neither was Jogo, you wanted to smother him more and he wanted to have his dignity- WELL TO BAD BABYGIRL come here and catch these sweet love filled down bad kisses and let me hold you, thus began your series of “How to kiss a curse off guard”
Having a party with everyone at the table with drinks, Mahito was infront of you with Geto talking about the next move, enamored watching Jogo enamored, he took another drink of Sake and you gasped pointing past him everyone tuned to looked being your hand back your caught his chin pulling his face to you and leaning up to kiss him, closing your eyes you smiled when your heard Mahito wolf whistle and Jogo smacked his hand on the table, Geto chuckled as you pulled away smiling at Jogo, looking away and down with a clenched jaw the blush reached his “ears” then room heated up as he made a choked sound, “y/n, No matter what I say, you'll just keep being selfish, right?”
He looked at you through the corner of his eye facing away from you still, you couldn’t fight the smile, on your face, the warmth on your cheeks matching the warmth in your chest, “yeah, I’d say i could give Sukuna a run for Geto’s money” internally you understood completely what he meant with such a strange question, but what confused you was the moment you leaned over to get closer to him and he grabbed you to kiss you thinking he had turned the tables🤭

⋆⁺₊⋆ Rules From .☽˚ the Stars ⋆⁺₊⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 . . .
Minors/ageless blogs should NOT interact with 18+ posts. I'm very much aware that I'm not your mother; however, respect the principle: if you're not of age for it, then don't fucking do it. If you interact with my stuff, it's 100% on you, and I can't be held accountable for the things you read when I continuously warn my readers before continuing on.
Characters aged 18+ are the ONLY candidates for smut material. Do not ask me to write anything sexual for minors/characters that are canonically under that bracket. Timeskip ages will be checked if they're legal.
Unless specified, the reader I write smut for in my fics is always fem/afab unless stated otherwise, in which case they would be gender-neutral (or male! if specified). Prounouns are always they/them unless specified on contents.
My reader is blank-coded, meaning skin, complexion, hair, and physique are NEVER mentioned unless specified in my warning/contents because I want to leave more room for the imagination. The only thing that's implied is that they are shorter unless mentioned otherwise.
Reblogs and comments are always and forever appreciated. I thank you from the bottom of my heart when you rb + love reading your thoughts as they make my craft much more satisfying.
All of the things I have written on this blog are mine and are meant to stay on this site; if I wanted to post somewhere else, I would've already. In other words, do not repost, copy, translate, or use my works OUTSIDE of Tumblr (esp. w/ no credit).
To add to this, don't ever plagiarize any of my works. Would you like it if I copied you're whole fucking flow, word-for-word, bar-for-bar? Exactly, so be courteous.
Everything in this blog is organized, so use my tag directory if you need help finding stuff.
If you are racist, homophobic, sexist, a TERF, like to bring drama/discourse, or just generally a dick, please don't bring that here. My blog is a safe space for all, and I would be bummed having to block ppl that get in the way of that.
My blog is most definitely not spoiler-free; I will try to keep certain things censored; however, like I said, I can't be held accountable for what you see when I warn you.
Wanna be mutuals? Just ask! I won't bite, promise!
Tumblr media
𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑴𝒚 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔 𝑮𝒐 . . .
In terms of requests/asks, I go by what interests me rather than who comes first. It's not that I won't like your idea; I just don't want to spend my time writing something that 1) I don't know how to write or 2) doesn't quite interest me at the moment.
Please summarize your ideas in a few sentences. I get wanting to see the big picture; however, I'm just one person and have ideas of my own. If you ask me something that is as big as my phone screen, chances are that I won't write it.
Once again, I'm only one person, so don't be surprised if I don't get to your asks/ideas with superhuman speed. I have a life of my own outside of writing (shocker), so be easy with me if I don't get to a certain ask right that second.
Read all the rules + what I won't write before you decide to go into my inbox and ask me to indulge in your horny fantasies.
Tumblr media
𝑨𝒔 𝑭𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝑮𝒐 . . .
As of now, this is a writing blog centered on Jujutsu Kaisen. I may sometimes expand to other fandoms, but my central fixation is JJK.
I write for both men and women characters, and smut material for said characters 18+ years of age (however, if you ask me to write for Mahito, I will break something and have you pay for it).
I tend to have my works in the small font option; it's just my style of preference (may or may not change upon consideration).
Please don't request the same thing over and over for the same character(s).
𝐈 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞: r*p3/noncon - dubcon - real people (actors, idols, serial killers, etc.) - loli/shotacon/pedo - kidnapping - [pseudo]incest - scat/piss kink/watersports - abuse (physical and mental) - feet kink - aging up minor characters - gangbangs - yandere + tsundere - baby-trapping - noncon somno - vore - period sex (some ppl aren't comfortable) - pet play. * may subject to change + stuff will be added if i find it uncomfortable.
That concludes the rulebook; if you read it all, you're a real one!! And now, you are ready for the masterlist .ᐟ :33

hi! i didnt have much success when looking through ur blog to see if uve addressed this alrdy so apologies if u have.
i was curious to know ur thoughts on jjk's portrayals of gender, esp women/femininity. if u have particular insight from a psych or philosophy bg, id be interested in hearing that (warning, i have a v feminist critique lens)
ik u love gege's writing 😅 but his handle on female characters/femininity has given me such a difficult relationship w jjk, and its v difficult to have discourse on it. on one hand, we're introduced to sm interesting realistic women, tbh i actually never stanned a woman in manga before jjk. but imo it cant be denied that gege is a sexist writer. despite how realistic jjk women r theyre all .. halfwritten? i cant think of a single one who isnt underwritten, not fully explored, not utilized substantially in the plot, etc. and there r sm ex's of extremely minor male characters in jjk who r given more thematic relevance than frequently recurring women that just underscores that gender gap imo
this isnt solely a gege problem ik but what bothers me in particular about jjk vs other mangas is how gege addresses strength, even in the light of nb/androgynous characters, and how it feels as if gege's def of strength is inherently masculine? even despite going so far as to give us a philosophical battle shonen w diverse reps of gender and emphasizing individuality that encompasses both femme/masc traits
how a reader interprets whether a jjk woman is strong or not is obv subjective. like, i think shoko is strong but shes not depicted as such bc she doesnt have a combative technique whereas yuki maki nobara or mei r depicted as "strong" bc of their battle abilities. but it also feels as if those women r strong bc they take on "masculine" traits/mindsets whereas there r no clear depictions of "femininity" making women or men stronger. even utahime who falls into v classic shoujo girl tropes is seen as weak despite teaching her students v proficientally in battle strategy (mechamaru v mahito is a good ex of that imo), as compared to how gojo teaches his (ie dumping them into missions for experience). but thats not what gege ever chooses to highlight
femininity also doesnt even seem to make men/nb characters stronger. the ex's i can think of r naoya as a vagina (lmao), geto as a mother to curses, yuta as highly attuned to his emotions, kenjaku as yuji's mother -- those r things that support these (mostly) men's strong sense of individuality but like, those arent really the things that lend those characters their "strength", u know? like geges just sprinkling in androgyny for the spice 🧐
what is feminine vs masculine, how an individual embodies those traits in their gender identity r already complex topics. im obv generalizing a lot here, but i just, idk despite how many other nuanced philosophies gege explores, what is strong/desirable in jjk still falls down to all-out fighting abilities/physical prowess, emotional detachment, isolation, extremism, etc -- all things we harp on toxic masculinity for. and even when he critiques that, theres no cogent counter solution/way to be strong that gege provides, much less one that incorporates "femininity" and women
maybe im just asking for too much from gege after having read so many great representations of women and gender by female (and male) mangakas/writers but.. i shouldnt be 🙄 he can utilize his female characters more imo, esp when he can clearly set them up so well. and im sure theres things ive misread about jjk and its portrayal of femininity, theres plenty of holes in my thoughts ^^ anyways, this is obv not a great topic to bring up in a fandom that is so polarized between dudebros and women w unaddressed internalized misogyny.. so i welcome any and all thoughts and interpretations on ur end! (also omg im rlly sorry this got so long)
I love you feminist anon, if I may call you that lol, I just always name my anons 😂. I am so grateful that you sent this.
I feel like you've very eloquently explained the deeper reason as to why I personally can't relate to the female characters in jjk. If I'm honest, I like them and think they are fun and good enough representations or attempts at depicting the archetypes that rule their personalities.
As you say, however, some of them remain rather superficial and underutilized... and please forgive me anyone who loves them, but some of them feel like they are basically dudes wearing skirts.
No offense to dudes who wear skirts or people who like men who wear skirts or anyone for that matter. It's just that, as a personal preference, I like female characters that wear skirts, pants, leggings, etc and have equal amounts of masculine and feminine energy.
So, even if I find they are good enough, I've never necessarily loved jjk female characters, because, as you also say, I've read/seen one too many amazing and iconic female characters by other authors...
Tumblr media
And it's not like I think you're asking for too much from Gege in wanting better female characters, it's just that, as you also said, I like his writing and I read jjk precisely because of what it's doing for my masculine psyche. Like... quite literally.
Tumblr media
So perhaps I'm more forgiving than you are because of it? Because in all reality, there are female character moments in other manga that I have to give the bombastic side eye to, and jjk isn't one of them.
Let's taco'bout it more under the cut.
So, that said, I have to admit that you might not find a lot of "feminist oriented" content in my blog because my feminist lens is reserved for dealing with lame dudebros in my real life, and also, I honestly do not know how to wear the lens on the same level of depth as you do.
Also, since my blog's lens is depth psych, I very much focus on femininity and masculinity as psychological qualities that exist on opposite ends of a continuum regardless of biological gender. You'll see me refer to femininity and masculinity like this throughout my answer.
So because of this, I'm coming at the whole issue from a slightly different angle than you are. The way I see it, I think the way the jjk female characters are written and thematically utilized (basically everything you said), ultimately comes back to how Gege's exploration of femininity is limited by his own sense of self, and very much likely biased by the sociocultural landscape he grew up in.
I don't know how much you know about Japan, but Japan has one foot in the future, and one foot in the past...
Tumblr media
And like... ok I'm totally oversimplifying the whole thing. All I'm saying is... Gege is a man who grew up in a man's world, sharing his view of the world through jjk, which is a story about initiation of the male psyche that is published in a magazine for young boys.
Do you see the pattern there?
So If you feel like his female characters are underutilized and underexplored, and that thematically jjk focuses way too much on masculinity and masculine definitions of strength at the expense of the feminine archetypes he does present (like Naoya as a vagina LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL)... well... to me, we're basically looking at the limits of his own relationship to his femininity, which, this relationship is in turn an imperative precursor for psychospiritual development in depth psych. More of this in a bit.
Anyways, that's my anticlimactic reasoning for why I am more forgiving about the issue than you are. To be honest, I've been so consumed exploring my masculine psyche through jjk (because personally my feminine psyche is more developed in certain aspects) that I just never focus on the female characters (that is not to mention what I shared earlier).
ANYWAYS, I fucking love what you wrote about Gege's exploration on power from a masculine perspective because you're 100% spot on. What I'll say to that is that, to me, from a depth psych perspective, that's kind of the whole point.
I invite you to look at it from this other level of perspective (in addition to the whole "Gege's psych is a product of his upbringing"): the whole idea of individuality and focusing on the sense of self as a measure of "The Strongest" is being shown as an incomplete part of the equation...
Tumblr media
... that leaves "the strongest" ultimately feeling dissatisfied.
Tumblr media
This is a sentiment echoed by several characters because ego strength (masculine definitions of strength) is ultimately an unbalanced measure of strength precisely because it ignores feminine values and measures of strength.
Who knows where Gege is taking jjk at this point, but I will admit I am hoping he is going to explore this in more depth because, central to Jungian thought and depth psych is the idea of the Buddhist middle path and union of opposites.
In Jungian psych this means that, when you have an unbalanced ego attitude like that, something has to give so that the pendulum swings in the opposite direction, which gives the ego the experiences it needs to integrate the "opposite" attitude. This ultimately results in a more holistic and balanced perspective for the ego.
Tumblr media
That to say that I'm wondering if Gege is going to make the pendulum swing in the opposite direction with the whole "individuality" idea since self-preservation is a "masculine" trait. Again, psychologically, it's all about balance, and right now, the story is out of balance in favor of the masculine traits you mention.
But... to bring it back to Gege's possible limitations around his perception of femininity and how developing a healthy relationship to his anima (femininity) is a precursor for psychospiritual development... what if, on a meta level, jjk is depicting part of Gege's journey towards integrating and deepening his relationship to his femininity and what you're seeing is the beginning of that journey?
Hint hint Tsumiki! maybe I'll write about it someday
This is the thing... In depth psychology, more specifically what is called "the psychology of fairy tales", fairy tales and myths are stories that depict the thinking patterns of a peoples through metaphor and symbol. The characters in these myths and stories are thus characters playing out dramas in our own psyches. So basically, think of jjk as an objective exploration of Gege's subjectiveness (psyche).
Admittedly, even if the pendulum swings in the other direction (more feminine definitions of strength), you might find that his exploration is rather shallow or that it falls short of your expectations for what you'd like to see from a feminist perspective. And you wouldn't be wrong for it, it's just that Gege is probably not on the same level of understanding that you have about femininity because he's, like you and I, a human on a journey of self understanding and growth reflecting on how his environment has shaped who he is.
The same goes for women with internalized misogyny. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know, and coming to an understanding of it is a process that doesn't take place overnight.
So I think the only part I'll disagree with is that Gege is a sexist writer. But that's perhaps because I'm being a bit too technical in what sexist means? i.e. masc supremacy or hating women and perpetuating stereotypes. I think that rather than being sexist, his unconscious biases are showing, which is why someone like you can pick them out.
I do understand where you're coming from though, and admittedly perhaps I am being too forgiving of him.
Last thing I'll say is that I've said a couple of times that wanting for jjk to have these iconic female characters feels like an exercise in futility. In retrospect, I now understand that it's not that anyone shouldn't want for jjk to have iconic female characters, but that doesn't change the fact that jjk will probably remain the wrong manga to look for them, and that's something to make peace with because it is what it is.
So, here's to hoping we get a chance to see a deeper representation of feminine values in jjk or Gege's next manga. Because, if he's done such beautiful work with the masculine psyche, like you, I'd be curious to see what he makes of a deeper exploration of the feminine psyche.
Between you and I, I'd actually love reading a proper battle bl from Gege. And I mean proper. Like... gays so canon that even the dudebros can't deny it.
Tumblr media
ANYWAYS... giiiiiiiirl what an ask 😮‍💨. I don't think I've done it justice tbh. But hopefully I made sense? I really do love what you wrote. It was very eye opening to see this age-old argument spelled out the way you did it. So thank you again for sharing your thoughts!
If you over have any other thoughts on the topic I look forward to hearing from you!
I rambled too so... hopefully I made sense 🤣.

Date Night (Mahito x Kenjaku)
Hey! My friend is hosting a Mahito Month on twitter (I'm kenjakusbrain over there!) and I've decided to participate as I do love the character. This is the first of many to come this month, the first week is sfw content, but next week we will get back to the nsfw I generally write! Hopefully you enjoy this as I did! And special thank you to the person/events that inspired this <3
Mahito was very comfortable, so much so that if he had been able to fall asleep, he was sure he would be. Laying in the sand inside the domain they used as a base of operations wasn’t something he did often, but today was an exception. He had originally planned on meeting Geto because the strange curse user had needed to explain something to him in regards to obtaining one of Sukuna’s fingers.
It seemed Geto was late though, as Mahito thought he was supposed to be here around noon. Mahito wasn’t very punctual himself, but Geto making him wait did make him irritated. Which is how he ended up lounging in the sand, trying to soak up some of the comfortable, yet artificial sun. At least he got to relax before he complained to Geto.
The beach was unusually relaxing today, as Jogo was out somewhere. Mahito wasn’t quite sure what he did when he went out, he just knew that it was easier to relax when he wasn’t around to yell.
It was due to said silence on the beach that Mahito was able to hear the door to the domain being opened from the waters edge. He sat up immediately, sand uncomfortably sticking to his bare back as he moved. Unsurprisingly, the person he had been waiting on walked through the door and onto the beach. Today Geto had forgone the robes he so often wore in favor of his casual black slacks and dark coat.
“Geto! You’re late today! I’ve been waiting here all day, there's so much more I could have done,” Mahito whined as he stood. He wasn’t mad at Geto, but he did feel like laying around on the beach was a waste of time since he hadn’t brought a book with him.
Geto looked around, observing the scene and taking in the sight before him. Mahito often lounged on the beach, but he didn’t always do so in the nude. At least not since Geto had given the curse clothes to wear. He did appreciate the sight before him, Mahito’s stitched skin glistening under the sunlight, damp as if he had jumped in the water before laying down. But he supposed it wasn’t the worst thing that he could have walked in on. He walked over to the lounge chairs, where Mahito’s clothes were scattered atop the closest chair. Mahito had been smart enough not to sit them in the sand this time.
“Plans have changed and I was held up longer than anticipated. Come with me Mahito, we can talk over dinner. I haven’t eaten all day,” Geto said, picking up Mahito’s clothes with care and bringing them over to the curse.
Mahito pouted at him. Geto was always so busy but never explained what he was doing. Mahito was curious, he was sure there was something that he could do to make their plans go by faster. It just seemed he wanted to keep secrets. It’s fine though, Mahito would keep some secrets to himself, like the new hideout he had just found for himself in the sewer. Geto didn’t need to know about that.
“Dinner? What’s in it for me? I had to wait allllll day here only for you to take me somewhere else,” Mahito’s complaint’s were hollow. He was more than interested in accompanying Geto out, but he didn’t want the curse user to think that he would just go along with whatever he wanted. Especially after neglecting him all day.
Geto held out his hand, beckoning Mahito closer to him. Like a stubborn cat Mahito crossed his arms and stood his ground, refusing to move.
A sigh escaped Geto’s lips as he resigned himself to close the distance between them. He slung Mahito’s clothes over his shoulder and pushed up his sleeves. If Mahito was going to act like a child, Geto was fully prepared to treat him like one. Geto placed his hands on Mahito’s hips, and moved the curse, spinning him around so his back was facing Geto.
Mahito laughed, not expecting the movement and not trying to protest it, he was more curious at what Geto was doing. He held still as the man behind him ran his hands all along his backside, wiping off all the sand from his skin. The effort was appreciated as the sand was beginning to itch his skin. It also helped that Geto’s large hands were firm but gentle against him, the touch too light to be a massage but still relaxing in some way.
The hands drifted lower, brushing the sand off of his ass and legs. Mahito squirmed, it wasn’t the first time Geto had touched him, but he wasn’t used to having the man’s hands all over his body.
“Put these on and then we will go, it isn’t too far of a walk. I’ll make it worth your wait,” Geto said. He was very to the point today, despite being late. Draping the clothes over Mahito’s shoulders he stepped away from the curse and walked back to the door to wait for him.
--
The walk was silent, Geto rarely spoke to him as they walked through the city so this was no surprise to Mahito. The curse didn’t mind though, it was nearing dusk so he was enjoying the view of the city and the humans around them. There weren’t as many people out as he had expected, certainly fewer than he normally saw during the day. He supposed it was because they had found themselves off of the main streets and walking down a few side roads.
Before long they stopped in front of a small cafe, Geto turned to face him, smiling warmly before waving his hand toward the building.
“I’ll get us a seat outside, are there any kinds of food you like, Mahito?” Geto asked, he figured the easiest way to make up the day to Mahito was by giving him a new experience. Food would have to do for now, but there was always time for something more in depth later.
Mahito thought to himself for a moment before answering. He couldn’t remember if he had tried any human foods, eating seemed like a waste of time to him.
“Curse’s don’t need to eat, it’s just another reason why they’re superior to humans,” Mahito said smugly, cocking his head as he spoke. He wasn’t opposed to eating, but he did find it trivial. Just another thing that he took pride in as a curse, the fact that his body didn’t need to consume like that just to exist.
Geto didn’t mind Mahito’s behavior, he always found the curse quite endearing even when he was being difficult. Regardless of Mahito’s thoughts on food, he was going to make the curse try some. Since he was so childish, Geto wondered if his palette would be childish as well, perhaps something sweet was the way to go.
Mahito followed behind Geto as he walked into the cafe. Geto immediately began talking to the hostess, but Mahito paid them no mind, he was too busy looking through all of the displays. They had more confections than Mahito knew existed, he’s only known about a few from the books and movies he’d consumed. The sight didn’t make him hungry, but he did think that they looked cute. Which, in his mind, was not the quality to look for in food.
While Mahito was distracted, Geto followed the hostess and was seated outside. He had made the choice to order several kinds of crepes, definitely more than one person needed. She had asked if he was waiting on someone as he ordered, to which he simply ignored the question and finished placing his order.
After a little time wandering around inside the store, Mahito eventually wandered over to the table Geto had been seated at. Mahito pulled out both chairs opposite the curse user, sitting in one and putting his legs up in the other one. “Now let’s get into it, I located one of Sukuna’s fingers and would like you to retrieve it for me,” Geto spoke as the curse settled. He wanted to get into business before the food arrived.
--
It took about twenty minutes for the food to show up. The conversation had shifted from planning to Mahito talking about a book he had read the previous day. Geto listened intently as the curse described a particularly gruesome scene about a troop of boys that had stumbled across an insatiable evil. They were so engrossed in conversation, that a plate being sat between the two of them broke the spell of their focus.
“My! It isn’t often one person orders this much! Hopefully you’re hiding another stomach somewhere to keep all this food! Or are you still waiting on someone? I can take it back and keep it warm til they arrive,” The waitress spoke cheerfully as she sat down several plates. Each plate had a different kind of crepe on it, one savory and three others adorned with different fruits, chocolate, and powdered sugar.
Mahito paused as he reached out to touch some of the food she had sat down, it looked just like the stuff in the cases and he was more than curious. It was obvious she couldn’t see him and was just addressing Geto, who hadn’t acknowledged her yet as his eyes were still locked on Mahito.
“No you can leave it. I am on some kind of date I suppose, just not the conventional one. Thank you but you can just drop the check and make yourself scarce,” Geto looked over at the waitress as he spoke. It didn’t take much effort for his dismissal to sound like a curse had she decided to linger.
Mahito wasn’t paying much attention to the waitress; however, he had caught one of the words Geto had said. “Date? You’re taking me on a date?” the curse asked, the concept not entirely foreign to him as he had read about it. As he mulled it over in his mind he supposed this wasn’t too far from a date. Dinner with someone you are affectionate toward. The word love echoed in his head, it was all rubbish to him, foolish human emotions. Yet for some reason he didn’t quite mind the concept of a date night with Geto.
Geto ignored the question for a moment, choosing instead to rearrange the food that had been sat between them. He places the savory dish in front of himself, moving a crepe with chocolate and bananas in front of Mahito.
When Mahito didn’t begin eating, Geto reached over, cutting up a forkful of the confection and raising it to the curse’s lips. He cocked his head, holding the fork there until Mahito opened his mouth.
The food was sweet, a rush that instantly made his mouth water. Mahito couldn’t quite help a small moan that escaped his throat as he swallowed the bite offered to him. He felt, in that moment, that he could understand why humanity didn’t get upset at having to eat so often. If food tasted so good, why hadn’t he tried it yet?
“Maybe I did want to take you on a date, it isn’t like we need the labels of humanity. If we were though, I would definitely say that I’ve been courting you in some way, so yes, a date will suffice,” Geto explained, handing Mahito the fork he had used to feed him with.
Reaching down, he grabbed another fork and began to eat his own food. “All of these are for you to try, hopefully your appetite for sweets is as insatiable as your curiosity.”

BASICS
Name: Junpei Yoshino
Nickname(s): TBA
Age: 17
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 165 lbs
Species: Human
Sex and pronouns: Male, he/him
Birthday: May 4th
Orientation: Bisexual
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Junpei is a thin young man with green eyes and brown hair that reached to his shoulders. His side parting let a large portion of his bangs cover the right side of his face. This helped to cover the scars he received from his bullies.
He wears a purple and pink striped t-shirt or a simple white t-shirt with a green rectangle printed on the front. He also wore a pair of calf length olive green pants and off-white sneakers with black laces and golden soles and toes.
PERSONALITY
Junpei is a reserved and apathetic individual with a distaste for other people. He has very negative views of people and society as a whole. If there existed a button that would kill everyone he hates, he wouldn't press it. However, if there was a button that would kill everyone who hated him, he'd press it without hesitation. He claims that he feels indifferent towards people and believes that it's no worse than hating them.
Junpei's indifferent towards other humans because he expects them to be evil, so even people's deaths don't seem to affect him. This is due to all the trauma he received from being bullied and rejected in his life. He has always been a recluse, but Junpei loves movies and tried to start his own club at school. It was unfortunately taken over by bullies who burned Junpei while nobody did anything to help him or reprimand his assaulters.
Despite being a normal student, Junpei's dejected attitude made him easy for Mahito to manipulate. Mahito fed into Junpei's darkness and encouraged him to take his indifference a step further into hate and revenge. This resulted in a shortsightedness that made Junpei unable to see Mahito for what he truly was.
Yuji, someone else who is around Junpei's age who's interested in movies, became one of Junpei's only friends. Even after Junpei had rejected all those around him, Yuji was able to begin to bring Junpei out of his troubled mindset.
CURSED TECHNIQUE
Overall Skill Level: Prior to meeting Mahito, Junpei was weak. He was an average non-sorcerer who was constantly picked on and bullied. Mahito altered Junpei and turned him into a sorcerer, allowing Junpei to get his revenge. To his peers, it looked as if Junpei gained psychic powers they could not perceive. They were unable to view Junpei's jujutsu and Shota Ito suffered a wrath he couldn't even see. Junpei gained the ability to summon a fairly strong shikigami. This allowed him to even put up a fight against Yuji, who was a relatively new sorcerer at the time.
Basic Cursed Energy: Junpei was born with enough innate talent to be able to see curses, but his brain was not meant to be a sorcerer. He was able to see Mahito, which eventually lead to the cursed spirit slightly transforming Junpei's brain enough to learn jujutsu. This granted him the ability to harness enough cursed energy to conjure a shikigami of considerable strength using his hair as a medium.
Moon Dregs (澱 (おり) 月 (づき) Orizuki?): A large jelly-fish like shikigami capable of paralyzing targets with a unique poison that covers the skin in black spots that burn the victim as if they were being stung. Moon Dregs also has a pair of spiked stingers that can pierce through flesh.
BACKSTORY
Junpei's father and mother are divorced, he was raised by his mother and had a pretty standard upbringing. However, he was bullied by several of his school mates. In one such instance, the end result caused him to end up with cigarette burn scars on his forehead.
Being bullied throughout his schooling, Junpei grew tired. Anger brewed deeply into his being, leading him to come in contact with Mahito, who lead him down a dark path. He altered Junpei's brain in order for him to develop cursed energy. Already born with the innate talent to become a sorcerer, Junpei developed a quite strong technique. From there, Junpei foolishly complied with the lies fed to him by Mahito; that another student was one of the people who may have cursed his mother. Junpei believed that it may have been his bully from school, and decided to confront him about it.
(AU) -- A sorcerer who belonged to Tokyo Jujutsu Tech was able to arrive on scene before there was a massacre. They talked Junpei out of committing to his anger, rage, sadness, anything under the sun, and taking it out on innocent lives. With deep regrets, Junpei spiraled into severe depression. But with the help of the people who finally accepted him, he (slowly) built up the strength to keep on living.
TRIVIA
Junpei started a film appreciation club with two of his friends during his first year of high school.
Junpei stopped going to school by his second year.
Junpei’s dislike for his mother’s smoking is likely rooted in his bullies’ habit of putting out cigarettes against his forehead. It may also be out of a concern for her health. (Both)
According to Jujutsu Kaisen Official Fanbook:
His hobby is watching movies.
Favorite dish: Crab omelet on rice.
Least favorite dish: Herring roe.
Cause of stress: School
Junpei's surname has the kanji for "good luck" (吉, yoshi) and "field, wilderness" (野, no). His given name has the kanji for "order, sequence, obedience" (順, jun) and "ordinary, mediocre, simple" (平, pei).

18. If you wrote a sequel to your fix “Mother” what would it involve?
(My friend and I just read this and we have collectively loosing our minds, thank you 🙏)
Ask game
I'm sorry it took me so long to answer this hgvhvgh work has me off tumblr most days
18. If you wrote a sequel to your fic “Mother” what would it involve?
So here's a thing, potential Mother sequel DOES exist
Tumblr media
It's just that I've been so busy lately and my motivation to write JJK has been so down that I'm not really sure will it ever be finished. That being said, when I pitch Mother 2 to people I always pitch it like this.
'Satoru becomes a father. Guess to whom?'
And to this day nobody has been able to answer me right so consider that question yeah? N then click under cut.
Tumblr media
So you know how Mother is speeding down the rails of fucked up while still technically holding hands with canon? Yeah Brood was supposed to go completely off rails and into the fucking wall, nothing but self indulgent domestic horror.
The basic premise was that Satoru has had a complete breakdown and basically convinced himself he and Suguru have ran away together to deal with the whole situation. Kenjaku thinks this is hilarious and does nothing to dissuade him from this because at this point Satoru listens to 'Suguru' more than he would listen to Kenjaku,
At that point it's just Kenjaku's preparations to make their big evil chaos like they do in canon, mainly bringing Mahito about to foster Idle Transfiguration. It's just that this time around he has Six Eyes. And extremely paranoid and human fearing Six Eyes. The idea was that he would basically use Satoru's power and his cursed energy that is just dripping with fear as a battery to power up Mahito's creation, basically making a super Mahito. Is this how Six eys/Limitless works in canon? No, but I doubt Gege actually knows how it works so who cares. The important bit was that it would create this weird semi parental bond between Satoru and Mahito, with Satoru attempting to be a better parent to the manifestation of all his fears and anxieties then Kenjaku had ever been to him.
I've also considered bringing back Yuji and Suguru (maybe in curse form) and like Death paintings to really make a family reunion, but I've never actually planned anything too specific with that.
Hope that peeks your interest :3

The Boy And The Heron : Breakdown
Watching the movie, I like struggled connecting to the emotional themes. The longer the movie went on, I thought it became, through the character of the granduncle, an allegory for Miyazaki and the future collapse of Ghibli.
For one thing, the Granduncle has become the god of this place due to a cosmic fluke – a meteor striking, and his cultivating of it. This could be a metaphor for building a successful artistic studio, which both depends on the head artist's temperament, but also on chance and the right conditions. And the drama of the granduncle is, having built this place, finding a worthy successor.
Second, the parakeets. The parakeets receive so much attention in the movie; they are possibly the main antagonists. Like the other birds, they are invasive the species that the granduncle introduced to the magic world. They are defined by the their bright colors and amoral drive to eat. They want to eat Mahito, the "new" artist, who might inherit the world/studio. But Miyazaki takes effort to show the parakeets not as malicious, but simply solely driven by the drive for consumption. Also, they are not scary or ugly, but colorful and cheerful.
In my interpretation, the parakeets stand in for the drive of capitalism that the artist brings into the world of creativity in order to make a successful business. They are colorful, loud, and hungry. He doesn't like them, but they are necessary – but also, their presence risks consuming what is most precious about this world, from the waruwaru's to the next artist/creator.
And when the parakeet stage their protest, the big ask they seem to make is for... Himi to be successor, not Mahito (I'm a little fuzzy on this). I bring this up because in this sequence, Himi is carried in what looks like a glass coffin. Which, if it's intentional, is a callback to Disney's first animated feature film – Snow White. Now this may be a stretch, but a possible meaning is that the Parakeets (business interest) would prefer a safer, Disney-like animation studio than one driven by a character like Mahito – someone with a conscience motivated by passionate feelings. (The flaw in this interpretation is that Himi as a character is more like Mahito than not – passionate and principled.)
In the end, if this works as an allegory for Miyazaki and Ghibli, I wonder if it also contains it's own grief and self-criticism. Mahito doesn't take over the kingdom. He hesitates, and King Parakeet (short sighted business interests) moves faster, and in attempt to save the world/studio, destroys it. But Mahito hesitates because his loyalties are not just to this creative world, but also to his mother, and to his family in the real world. In essence, it is his sense of responsibilities to others that leads away from running the magic world and back to the real world.
Miyazaki is a man whose very open about his flaws. He has chosen an artistic life, and his wife and children have endured living with a man for whom they were always second. Hayao has spoken of this, and his son has also spoken of his negative feelings for his dad (watch Goro's patricidal Earthsea movie to take a peak into that pyschodrama). I wonder, then, if Mahito choosing the real world of family over running this magic kingdom is his character's final victory, and if this is Miyazaki's self-condemnation for choosing art over relationships.

[ COMPANY ] He... wasn't sure what this is. It was late, humans get weird at night usually. Either they are all too vulnerable or they think their made up rules don't apply to them. All Mahito knew for sure was that he has seen what Geto looks like when he's thinking and this wasn't quite it. A little different in the face slightly but more-so in the shape of his soul.
The cursed spirit wasn't about to make assumptions when it came to the only being he couldn't read well, instead he plopped down within the usual conversational distance he always did.
A tilt of his head was directed at his friend. Friend. Hm. A stupid look on the curse's face, some manner of thoughtful even, clearly his interest was directed at Geto but... then his head tilted back to look forward. This pal of his liked to keep secrets, liked to keep a lot of things to himself. If there was something he had earned, it was Mahito not tormenting him relentlessly to pry it out.
He was there if Geto-kun wanted to air out his thoughts or... feelings. If not he'd just stay for however long seemed appropriate. Hm. Appropriate. A strange word to try and understand in this even stranger context but here he was anyways. If that meant something, Mahito sure didn't know.

The night breeze carries a waft of city smell through tall buildings; grease, trash and gasoline. Solemnly, they lean against the terrace railing, gaze traversing over the myriad blinking lights in a lukewarm fashion. It's not often that Kenjaku stops to reminisce - in reality, they don't. Even in that moment, any taste of nostalgia for times past is filtered through their disdain for how little the world has become in their eyes.
Even if there is no rebirth, I don't need to think about it. The world isn't growing smaller. But when you eat the same meat every day, you stop feeling hungry.
Words echo a familiar grating voice in the back of their mind. An indecipherable expression settles atop the sorcerer's features as they traverse back into that long forgone conversation — in a way they haven't before, as there was no reason to. In spite of swimming the sea of samsara for so long, they had yet to escape some mundane notions; such as recollections visiting the mind nearing sundown. And that time was nay, at last, the conclusion of a thousand year pursuit.
You are wrong, Sukuna. The poor eat to end their hunger. But once you have enough to never be hungry — it is then that the hunger never ends.
Briefly, their senses focus on the small inner pocket sown to the kasaya; the edge of Prison Realm pricks into their stolen skin at all times, there. A subtle stimulation of the nerves, to keep their attention guarded. They are just as quick to avert it when another aura creeps into the lonesome setting. For a moment, Kenjaku could swear they expected to see him in flesh and bones — but Mahito's sewer-stench assaults their nostrils instead.
If their expression could have been read as pensive, it is not something they bother to fix. And if there's an odd reading on their soul, then the human-born curse is free to inform them about it. A mere blink is all the greeting they will offer, regardless; as they begin to process the curse's demeanor. Quiet, unintrusive, uncharacteristically tame when he hovers beside their statuesqe form. Geto hides his hands within his robes, slips on a smirk — reflects the inquisitive look.
He imagines the average shaman would be unsettled by a curse immitating humanity so accurately. Even moreso upon the realization that, simply by showing up, he had managed to abduct their attention from the desensitized, passive dissatisfaction immortal life tended to bring. A rekindled interest lurks behind gleaming purples as they fix on their mismatched counterparts. He notes the way the breeze sways Mahito's disheveled mane, in the same way it sways his own behind him. And the whimsical thought comes along; Mahito is, perhaps, the only being that, at least expresses, boredom with his existence. Though he's easily excitable, at least, being so young — with an ancient essence all the same.
A softer smile settles on their features whilst digging amidst the fabrics to pull out a small bottle of sanitizing deodorant. And they begin to sing while spraying him with it, knowing the intrigue might counteract any volatile reactions ( suddenly, Kenjaku finds their mood has shifted, though they can't exactly pinpoint why, other than that they were given something to fiddle with )
❝ There's... a ... — ♪ hundred and four days of summer vacation, then school comes along just to end it -- so the annual problem for our generation, is finding a good way to spend it ♫ — ❞ Spritz, spirtz; and then the spray is tucked back in and his hand pretends to hold an invisible microphone that's shortly pointed in Mahito's direction.
