Stranger on a Train
Pairings: James Maguire + Erin Quinn
Summary: Based on the synopsis for episode 3 ("There's a huge buzz in the Quinn household as preparations are made for the annual day trip to Barry's amusement park in Portrush. Surely an unfeasible amount of sandwiches and a massive surfboard is all they could possibly need")
Once again, granda and Gerry were slightly arguing in the street - more on Granda's side than Gerry's. Anna was toddling around the street trying to catch the ball Orla was kicking around. Mary was fiddling around with the bags in the two cars. Aunt Sarah was doing something with her tarot cards again.
Erin had had enough. "Granda, you go in the back car. Daddy, you're in the front," she stated, pointing to each person and then their respective cars.it looked like Granda was going to say something. "Go!" She nearly shouted, sending the two men into their respective cars.
She then turned to face Mary and Sarah. "Mammy, you go with daddy and Anna. Aunt Sarah, you'll be with Granda," she says.
"Erin," Mary was just about to start her sentence - when she was cut off by a look from her daughter, one very similar to a look she would shoot at any of the wains in her house.
Once the adults (plus Anna) were situated in the car, Erin turned around to face her friends - who all had similar faces of surprise. "I'll go in Granda's car, I am not going to Portrush in a coffin,"
She looked over at her friends. Michelle had recently ramped up on her 'teasing' of James - and Erin knew she would have to separate them for the trip there. "I think it would be easier if we split James and Michelle apart, so no one is in a shite mood when we get to Portrush, and either Clare or Orla go with us - because mammy has Anna,"
Michelle looked a bit offended when Erin started talking about separating her and James - but decided it would give her time over the hours to come on their way to Portrush.
Clare decided to go in the same car as James and Erin, wanting to get some more of her A-Level English reading done during the ride.
Somehow Granda had managed to get the massive surfboard from Derry to Portrush without it falling off the roof of the car or broken in some way or another. Erin didn't understand how it hadn't considering the ridiculous size of it!
Finally landing in Portrush was an absolute relief for everyone involved - including little Anna, who was well-known for never being able to sit in the same place for long periods. The entire way to Portrush, Anna hadn't been the 'happiest bunny' in the car.
So, when they landed, the four sat in the car with her and took huge gasps as they got out. Erin and James turned around to see Erin's exhausted parents, still trying to calm down the upset and grumpy Anna.
"Mammy, hand her over," Erin stated, fiddling with her backpack (considering one of the straps was twisting and was gelling a bit uncomfortable - which James sorted out for her).
Mary let out a huge sigh of relief as she handed her youngest to her big sister. Erin started talking about showing Anna the beach - which she hadn't properly seen - and only slightly wandered away. Anna cooed over the sight of the sandy beach and blue sea, as James stood next to the pair.
"Don't they remind you of someone, love?" Gerry asked his wife, remembering the first trip to Portrush Mary had taken him to.
"Aye," Mary agreed. "We weren't much older than they are," he comments, watching his eldest daughter. His first-born. His Erin. Where did those years disappear to? One day he's holding her in his arms like a newborn baby, and then she runs up to him - happy to see him home from work. Then he blinked, and those days are gone. She no longer runs up to him after he finishes work, she's a full-fledged teenager, constantly getting into spats with Mary, causing him anxiety whenever she gets herself in trouble (which seemed to be often with the Mallon's eldest).
Sometimes, he wished he could freeze time forever - so Erin could be his little girl. But, it wasn't the case - she'll find her lad (who Gerry hopes she'll find in James), they'd get married, move out and have a life of their own, whatever it may entail.
Gerry does hope his eldest sees the wee English fella the way James sees Erin. Gerry wasn't oblivious she'd seen the glances and long stares from both teenagers.

Classy Fulham just too good for North End
Classy Fulham gain promotion to the Premier League with a fairly regulation 3-0 win against a sloppy North End side. Preston had their moments in the game but three goals in the first half saw the long time league leaders finally ascend to the promised land after a season when they have only lost four games. Goals number thirty nine and forty for the season by Mitrovic split by a goal from Carvalho was more than enough to see the Cottagers home and leave Ryan Lowe disappointed at the way North End sloppiness contributed to their eventual downfall. Far too often, particularly in the first half, North End game the ball away and when you concede possession to a team like Fulham then there is generally only one outcome. North End rallied a little after the break with a change in formation but the mountain was already too big to climb and Fulham were effectively home and dry at the interval.
North End made four changes to the side that drew at home to Millwall on Good Friday with Bauer, Browne, Cunningham and Maguire making way for Lindsay, McCann, Earl and Ched Evans. It was North End who nearly drew first blood with Johnson and Archer combining to give Evans a great chance but his effort was well saved and North End`s opportunity had gone. Whiteman then had a deflected effort saved but moments later Mitrovic had put the home side in the lead after sloppy work on the North End right gave Fulham the ball. Nine minutes later the hosts were two up when Carvalho lifted his shot over Iversen and into the net as it started to look like it was going to be a long night for North End. Before the break the classy Wilson put Mitrovic through on goal and the big striker made no mistake in scoring his second and Fulham`s third.
North End had been found wanting down the flanks in the first half so it was no surprise when Ryan Lowe changed formation and brought on Diaby for Earl as North End went to a flat back four to try and stem the Fulham tide. Archer had a great chance to pull one back early in the second half but the Fulham keeper saved well tipping the ball onto the bar. At the other end Iversen saved North End on a couple of occasions in quick succession when he first denied Mitrovic with an excellent one on one save and then saved again from the same player with an outstretched hand to palm away a shot from near the penalty spot. North End had made a much better fist of it in the second half in my opinion and late on it was the turn of Ben Whiteman, from a free kick, to see his effort go just over the bar. North End then had a few corners in succession but all to no avail and the Cottagers had completed their mission.
So disappointment for Preston in SW6 but you have to hand it the home side and although North End never gave up in this game sometimes you simply have to hold up your hand and say you were beaten by a better team on the evening. There will be positives for Ryan Lowe not least of which will be to clarify even further just where the squad needs strengthening in what will be a huge Summer off the field for North End as the squad will likely be transformed from its current state. There are still three games to go this season and I wouldn`t expect a Ryan Lowe team to roll over and be on the beach anytime soon. Two big games at home against Blackburn and Middlesbrough split by a trip to Barnsley for the annual Gentry Day soiree means this season is far from over on the field. Sixty five points would be a good target for North End to finish this topsy turvey season with and to finish on a high going into the next campaign.

John Travolta Selling Massive Waterfront Mansion in Maine for $5M
Rocco Spaziani/Mondadori Portfolio via Getty Images
The actor John Travolta is selling his massive, oceanfront Maine mansion for $5 million. The star had owned the longtime retreat with his wife, the actress Kelly Preston, who died last year at the age of 57 of breast cancer.
The couple purchased the 30-room estate, on the north end of Islesboro Island, in the early 1990s, according to a spread about the vacation getaway in Architectural Digest.
They had heard about the area from Travolta’s actor pal Kirstie Alley, who apparently also had a vacation pad there at the time. They also owned real estate in Los Angeles, Hawaii, and Florida, according to AD.

Once they found the perfect place, the couple set about redecorating the home. Built in 1903, it is filled with a mix of antiques, plush custom seating, and dining areas, all in vibrant colors.
The Travoltas tapped Christopher B. Boshears to reimagine the space.
“‘They couldn’t quite put their finger on what they wanted, but when I showed up with lots of color, they went nuts,’” Boshears told AD in 1999 of his celebrity clients.
The massive property is reached by a winding, tree-covered drive and includes a 10,830-square-foot main house on four lots, with 48 acres of oceanfront property. It also has a deepwater dock on Sabbathday Harbor.
Travolta and Preston purchased the property for the express purpose of hosting their large extended families for holidays. It’s set up for large gatherings, and includes 20 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms.
The living room has a large fieldstone fireplace, along with a custom-built bar area, a dining room with a fireplace, and a large, well-equipped kitchen with a walk-in refrigerator and pantry.
The layout also features an office and laundry room. Upstairs, the spacious master suite includes a private sunporch, a full bathroom with a clawfoot tub, and a separate shower. The floor also houses 14 bedrooms and four bathrooms.
On the third floor is a children’s paradise, with a series of themed bedrooms, a full bathroom, play equipment, schoolhouse, library, and a built-in stage.
The property also boasts two large sunporches, and a sunny back deck overlooking the swimming pool. It also includes a detached barn for car storage.
The land, partially in conservation with the Islesboro Island Trust, includes open fields with ocean views, walking paths through the woods down to the shoreline, a beach, open ocean access, and garden areas.
Travolta is known for his iconic roles in “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever,” as well as “Look Who’s Talking,” “Pulp Fiction,” and “Get Shorty.” Preston had roles in “Jerry Maguire,” “The Experts,” and “Gotti.”
Travolta announced the death of his wife on Instagram, writing, in part, “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.”

The Greatest Chick Flicks Ever Made
Here's a list of the greatest chick flicks ever, ranked by fans and casual critics like you. The best girl movies are those which we've all seen 100 times and can recite line by line, and they're among the most rewatchable movies of all time. While the "chick flick" genre can be hard to define, most films with this moniker share at least a few common characteristics. First and foremost, they appeal to women – especially younger women or teens, which means they feature strong female characters in familial or romantic relationships. Be sure to vote for your favorite girls night movies, and vote down any movies that you don't think qualify as a "chick flick."
Any list of the best chick flick movies would have to include one of the most romantic films of all time, Titanic. The tragic love story of Jack and Rose is timeless. Other chick flick dramas that deserve spots on this list include Steel Magnolias, Beaches, and yes, Thelma & Louise. And of course, The Notebook deserves a spot (or two, or five). One thing all of these chick flick dramas have in common: They are all serious tear jerkers. Can anyone get through The Notebook's final scene without crumpling into the fetal position in tears?
Not all of the greatest chick flicks are dramas, however. No, many of the best movies aimed at women are actually comedies -- especially romantic comedies, or "rom coms." When Harry Met Sally... is a great example (and really, almost any and all other movies starring Meg Ryan qualify), and so is Clueless. And one of the best chick flick comedy movies ever, Bridesmaids, was released in recent years. It proved, without question, that a movie about women could be rude, crude and socially unacceptable – but still hilarious and extremely popular among movie goers.
Again, be sure to vote for the top chick flicks you think are the best ever, and add any that might be missing!
Many, even most of the best romantic comedies cross over into the land of chick flicks, though many aren't quite (see: The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Wedding Crashers, and Jerry Maguire).

GRAPS AND CLAPS REVIEWS - GPW 'BACK WITH A BANG' #THEPIESAREON!
Hello and welcome everyone, once again to Graps and Claps this time travelling to Hindley for the first time this year for Grand Pro Wrestling 'Back with a Bang' with very much a card full of new and established stars in the land of Hindley Graps with the debut of Lucas Steel who has been making noises in NGW Wrestling and has recently been the feature of the 'One to Watch' part of Fighting Spirit Magazine.
The trip to Hindley as ever started with the dash to Rochdale station, with me this time just missing the direct train to Hindley, so instead I had to get a train to Manchester VIctoria then one from that station to HIndley which didn't cause much too much fuss arriving into Hindley for 6:15 pm to meet up with the rest of the gang (Ben, Chris, Geoff and Tom) in the Edington Arms which I will report about later on the going downs in the karaoke world. Only one stop for me this time in pub land which was the posh wine/cafe bar called Kore which since gaining a craft beer selection is now becoming a place to visit when going to GPW. Two drinks here were a Jester Pale Ale (4.1% £3.20 pint) and a Hophurst Brewery Cosmati Pale (4.2% £3.10 2/3rds), with the Jester Pale Ale being the standout drink - not too heavy with a smooth light taste this was a winner with my palate.
Drinks done and the time reaching 7:10 pm, we made our way into the Monaco Ballroom for the night's action and in a continuation of things from last year a packed crowd was in attendance estimated easily around the 200 marker with people standing at the back of the room and also near the bar due to seats being well taken up. Ticket prices have gone up £1 here, but for £9 entry you can't complain much with the quality of action you are always served at these shows, one big revelation that came apparent during the afternoon was that they had finally found an oven to heat the famed 'Hindley Pies' up better - so for a great start to the GPW year - THE PIES WERE ON!!!!
With that said, let's get into what went down with the first match being a big grudge match that has been going on for quite a bit with 'Magnificent Matthew Brooks' taking on Isaiah Quinn with his House of Isaiah in tow (Nick Maguire and Jacob North). After being captured by Quinn's group a number of months ago, Brooks finally left the clutches of the house back in November so he was free to go back singing and to entertain once again, however that could all change again with the stipulation in this match that if Brooks lost he would have to once again join the House of Isaiah which the crowd certainly didn't want to see. However, if Brooks won Quinn would be forced into singing a duet with Brooks as per the stipulation.
Early on it was Brooks who was in control hitting a Singer Splash followed by 10 punches in the corner and a high pitched song right into Quinn's ear to deafen him, Brooks then followed up with a flying headscissor, but Quinn managed to recover to hit a back cracker to get back on top. As the bout moved on to it's big crescendo with the referee (Fitzgerald) not looking, Brooks got hit with Quinn's stick which resulted in a two count, thankfully for Brooks who made a fightback but found a bump in the road when he missed a big legdrop which put the ball back in Quinn's court, but it was maybe complacency on Quinn's part as he was caught out of nowhere with a CHEEKY ROLL UP! from Brooks who picked up the popular 3 count in a really fun opener to proceedings. As per the stipulation, Quinn had to sing a duet with Brooks - that being 'Purple Pants' by PRINCE, that brought fits of laughter from our section! Just as Quinn was getting into the spirit of song he attacked Brooks from behind leading into a beatdown from the House, that was until Brooks was eventually saved by JJ Webb and Stoxx (The Green Machine) to bring some sense of order.
Up next was a No.1 Contenders match for the vacant British Title with two qualifiers taking place on this evening, first starting with this fatal 4-way contest with Luke Jacobs vs Kameron Solas vs Dylan Roberts vs Rio. Early on it was Jacobs who was on the offence first hitting clotheslines and suplexes to everyone and looking good in the process (Jacobs certainly looks like someone with a great future with his Rugby style broadness and hard-hitting offence).
As the match moved on, we had a high crossbody by rio to Solas for two, then as Roberts (who had been on the outside for quite a while saving himself for later in the match) and Solas were on the floor, they were hit with a big dive by rio and luke to floor them instantly. Back in the ring, Kameron Solas who was once again impressing hit a slam on Luke to Rio's back leaving them crumpled in a heap, but Rio was able to recover from this as later in the match he hit the big tower of doom spot to everyone to leave a mass of bodies in the ring. Home stretch now we had a missed Sky Twister Press by Solas and also Jacobs got taken out leaving Dylan Roberts to lock in the Arm Clutch to tap Rio out, in what looked sadly like a miscommunication between the ref and rio, as Rio took ages to tap out, which was a shame because it was an alright match.
Next up was the singles debut for two of the up and coming stars of the scene with Ethan Allen who has been making waves in Futureshock as part of the Young Guns with Luke Jacobs taking on 'The Standout' Lucas Steel who instantly as he walked through the curtain got the 'Wow' reaction from the crowd in attendance which is a great base for him meaning the crowd thought he looked a threat instantly. Ethan early in this match tried to knock the big fella down to size with strikes and kicks but he was waffled with a hard clothesline and a big elbow by Lucas for a two count, When Ethan did get Steel to 1 knee he hit more kicks followed by a Roundhouse and then a DDT for 2 to daze Steel. As the match reached its conclusion with Steel ready to hit a Powerbomb, Ethan managed to roll out to nearly get a roll up on Steel, but Lucas was wise to this as he eventually hit the Jackknife Powerbomb to get the three count in an impressive debut. After the match Steel tried to continue the beat down on Ethan, but Ethan was thankfully saved by his team mate Luke Jacobs to end any more suffering for him. In closing, this was an excellent 5/6 minute match that was a competitive squash match that got both wrestlers over in an instance with the crowd - Steel especially who as we would see later in the show looks to be the main antagonistic heel as GPW goes through 2019.
Half time main event now with Jack Griffiths vs Bin Mann, with Bin Mann's former friend Jett Fashion in the crowd in his best Liverpool FA Cup FInal white suit (he looked bloody awful) to make Mann wary if he interfered in this match. Bin Mann didn't look distracted early as he hit a belly to belly to Griffiths followed by a prolonged beatdown ending with a lariat for 2. At this point, I admit I went to the toilet as nature was calling, but I came back in time to see Griffiths hit a headscissors, and then a springboard moonsault to the outside. Back in we had jumping forearm by jack for 2, but he then misses a springboard moonsault, leading to Bin Mann to hit Jack with a side suplex. The match coming to an end, Jett Fashion was provoked enough to get involved whilst the referee wasn't watching to hit a spear to Mann to leave him in prime position for Jack to hit a split-legged moonsault to get what some may call a surprise victory over Bin Mann. After the match we had an announcement from Jett Fashion that on March 29th we would have the feud ender between these two as they will face off in a Dumpster Match which if like the two matches of this type before in this promotion should be a wild match. I hope they both go all out though, because this feud has been greeted with quite the apathy I feel from the Hindley crowd, but we shall see what they serve up in March
Back from the break we returned with The Bad Lads who were offering anyone in the back, in the crowd a chance to get in the ring with them, as they were in a foul mood especially Big Joe who was getting easily wound up once again by the height jokes. The two victims for The Bad Lads would end up being GPW youngsters Samson Cross and JJS - not much to say about this match other than it was a massacre that ended mercifully with Big Joe hitting the Doink The Clown Whoopee Cushion from the top rope to JJS to get the victory in quick fashion. After the match with The Bad Lads still wanting competition they searched out the crowd for it and after bypassing us lot, they pulled out a local boxer (whose name I didn't get) who was then duly beaten down in the ring, that was until; The Young Guns came out and saved him from any further damage from The Bad Lads - so it looks like these will be in a 6-man of sorts in the future
Another British Title qualifier next with Chase Alexander taking on our favourite Sandy Beach fresh from his victory in the Crazy Cruiser 8 tournament. The reaction to Sandy is still not letting up in Hindley, the Baby Shark chants, maybe but there is still enough sustained support for Sandy who this blog has been blowing the horn about for ages. As per the earlier qualifier, this was another good match with Chase looking impressive and also impressing my mates Ben and Chris who remembered him from 5/6 years ago in Coventry for Triple X Wrestling when he wasn't the finished article. Chase certainly nearly looked like the finished article here as he swatted away the Inflatable shark from Sandy and slammed him to the mat. With Sandy looking like he was on his way to defeat, as Chase had him in position for a Berry Bomb which he hit for a 2 count, luckily though for Sandy he managed to regain his marbles to hit a Jumping DDT to Chase to get the win in around 10 minutes - Good contest! After the match Chase offered Taonga who had been doing the honours of the raffle the opportunity to be hit valet, but this brought out Dirk Feelgood and Melanie Price of Feel Good Media LTD (FML), leading to a beat down of Taonga and what looks like the addition of Chase into FML.
Main Event time next with a huge 6-person tag team match with the Champions on one side in the form of Joey Hayes, Lana & L.A Austin taking on the contenders T-Bone & Craig Kollins and Soner Dursun with the latter hoping that if they got the win this would lead to title shots in their respective divisions in the future. As expected this was an all-action tag match from the start with both teams looking impressive along the way including picture perfect dives from both the Austins with Lana hitting a dive reminiscent of an Eagle.
In the ring with the action reaching fever pitch, everyone were hitting their moves ending with T-Bone hitting a Superkick to Joey to leave a scene of bodies on the mat. It would be Hayes though who would eventually recover to end the match as he locked in the Cross Hayes to Kollins to get the Submission victory in just over 15 minutes to send the crowd home happy or so we thought. Out came Lucas Steel who attacked Hayes from behind, to stake his claim at the March 29th show for a GPW Heavyweight Championship match and I for one can easily see him beating Joey to wrest the title away from Leigh's favourite son.
Show done, we had enough time to visit the Edington Arms for this month's Karaoke hopefuls and once again it was the man with his take on 'Reet Petite' stealing the show - check Ben Corrigan's twitter for the full video!.
I hope you have all enjoyed reading this review of GPW, give it the usual Likes and Retweets and I will see you next time - BYE!!

No. 122 Ocean View Drive in Wamberal is on the market. Two houses on the same street on the Central Coast were among the most viewed properties in NSW this week, according to realestate.com.au. The Wamberal homes, both of which were on the market, attracted attention as news of landslides on the street broke earlier in the week. One of the homes, 51 Ocean View Drive, has been removed from sale as landslide damage is assessed. MORE: Glamour couple snap up first property together First-home buyers to benefit from major changes to stamp duty But another, across the road at 122 Ocean View Drive, was unaffected and remains on the market. The property is on the other side of the street and has water views. The six-bedroom luxury home. The beautiful six-bedroom home is only a few years old, built by the owner after he bought the land with an old cottage on the site and knocked it down. Agent Jordan Bulmer of McGrath Terrigal said the home carried a price guide around the mid-$3m mark. “There’s nothing like this home in Wamberal,” Mr Bulmer said. Plenty of windows take advantage of the views on offer. Entertain by the pool. “There’s nothing of that size here and together with the fantastic ocean views, private beach access and the fact it is not at risk from erosion, makes it a unique property.” Floor-to-ceiling windows in most rooms allow you to take maximum advantage of the beach views and the open plan living space plus the pool area with entertaining deck have attracted a lot of interest from within the Central Coast and Sydney. There has been plenty of interest from locals and Sydney buyers. // // One of the most unique features is a “gentleman’s bar” on the lower level next to the garage and secluded from the rest of the house. The black walls and roof give it a moody feel and the owner’s Lions Milk logo, from a line of arak spirit he owns, can be seen above the bar. – With additional reporting from Mercedes Maguire The post Properties on Central Coast street where storms damaged homes the most viewed NSW listings appeared first on realestate.com.au. from news – realestate.com.au https://ift.tt/3f6A5RI

That’s not even to mention a potential blockbuster movie in the form of the Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring Project Power.
In August, Netflix also continues its high-profile poaching of other worthwhile properties as well. August sees the arrival of both The Legend of Korra and Cobra Kai, opening up two worthwhile series to an even wider streaming audience.

Frankie`s boys put the Cherry on top of the cake
North End came back from a goal down and a mediocre first half performance to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the City Ground on the final day of the season. It truly showed the character of this group of players and the excellent man management skills of the interim head coach as North End finished the season comfortably in mid table with a very respectable 61 points. To be fair we were not good in the first half and seemed off the pace looking more like we were on the beach. After the break North End were soon back to the standard they have shown since Alex Neil left the club. Faster to the ball and more incisive with our passing. I thought Ched Evans was outstanding for North End on the day and was man of this match by some distance. It was wet and damp and it wasn`t pretty early on but it was another outstanding result for Frankie and his boys.
Frankie McAvoy made two changes to the side that beat Barnsley last Saturday with Tom Bayliss and Scott Sinclair replacing Ben Whiteman and Tom Barkhuizen. Forest started the game on the front foot and Yates had a shot that went wide early on. North End`s best chance of the half came as early as the ninth minute when an Evans header went just over the bar with the goalkeeper in no-mans land, Five minutes later Forest had another effort over the bar but on seventeen minute the home side took the lead. The ball came out to Garner, who is on loan form Manchester United, and the twenty year old fired a thirty yard unstoppable shot past Iversen and into the net. North End looked rattled for a while and Forest enjoyed the majority of the possession. We got forward on a number of occasions but couldn`t really make any of them count and we went in at half time one down having been second best for most of the first half.
No changes for North End at half time as Forest fired the first shot on goal early on in the proceedings. Just seven minutes into the second period and North End were level when Sinclair was put through on the left via a cheeky dummy from Evans and his cross found Tom Bayliss who bundled the ball into the net. North End were playing much better in the second period but had to thank Iversen for an excellent one handed save from Grabban on the hour mark. Yates had a shot for Forest and Ledson was booked before at the mid point of the second half North End scored the winning goal. A Bayliss diagonal ball found Evans at the back post and his header across goal was headed in by Liam Lindsay. Evans then had a shot over as North End tried to manage the game. Whiteman and Barkhuizen replaced Ledson and Bayliss and latterly Potts and Maguire replaced Sinclair and Evans as North End held on comfortable for their fourth straight win in this most remarkable of seasons.
So the "Big Summer" for North End begins right now and Frankie McAvoy has given those in charge at Deepdale plenty to think about when they make their decision for the next full time manager of our club. The board need to act quickly and decisively with a strategy to recruit some quality into the club and to persuade the fans to come back in August with everything at the club being on a positive note. It won`t be easy, nobody ever said it would be, but they are well recompensed for the decisions they make and now is the time to stand up and be counted. As for Frank, well if that is to be his last game in charge then we will be eternally grateful for picking up the baton at a time when the performances on the field were at their lowest ebb. McAvoy has done an outstanding job for North End and left everyone heading for the Summer in a much better frame of mind than they were after the Luton game which saw the end of Alex Neil.

ERADICATE, DEMOBILIZE, KILL IGUANAS
I apparently gave up too soon yesterday morning. After watching Joseph Maguire testify for a while before a Congressional Committee, I gave up. Pure frustration. The questioning sucked. The answers non-responsive.
I quit too soon! One and one half hours after the hearing began.
From everything I saw on TV and read later in the day, things got better. Much better. The Committee did a good job, Maguire did a good job. Republicans sat with their tails between their legs and left quietly afterward.
Trump got nailed, but good! The truth came out! No games.
It would appear Trump is on his way to impeachment.
There are visitors who get excited when they see an iguana. Favorably excited. Think they’re cute. Green miniature dinosaurs.
Iguanas are bad. All should be eradicated. Shoot them, hit them over the head, but kill them. They are of no appreciable value to man or property in the Keys.
I have been in Key West for 30 years. The iguanas started showing up about 5 years after I arrived. First saw them on the golf course. A lot of big ones. Bothering no one. Sitting on tree branches or scooting on the ground.
The group first seen has propagated. It is crisis time. The State of Florida agrees. Finally.
Iguanas are everywhere. Always in huge numbers. Generally big ones and little ones together.
The do not bother humans. You can walk very near one and they will not move.
The problem is they destroy. Flowers and bushes. Eat ’em up! Defecate in pools. Happened to me 2 times. Had to remove and replace the water. They grind their way into seawalls and sidewalks.
I recall when pythons first invaded the Keys. Few in number. Now in the millions. Florida did not know what to do. Scientists and the State agree they have now reached a point where they can only be contained, not eradicated.
We may have reached that point with iguanas.
They are protected by animal cruelty laws. Kill and don’t kill. May only use guns where permitted. Generally approved method of killing is to shoot them in the head or bash their heads on a rock.
Otherwise, hands off! The law provides they may not be made to suffer during the eradication process.
The problem is now referred to as a “war.” However cannot go around “shooting willy nilly.” Key West is not the “wild west.”
Interestingly, iguanas are of no value to man. Except for food. A basic food in Central and South America. Supposedly tastes like chicken.
Not for me.
I went out last night. The Chart Room and Mary Ellen’s.
Tammy bartending at the Chart Room. One of the most charming persons in Key West.
Business slow. All of 4 people in the bar while I was there. The streets are quiet. Key West’s dead season. Things will pick up next month with Fantasy Fest. From no one to every one. As many as 70,000 the night of the parade.
I have always wondered where 70,000 sleep. In all the Keys there are not enough beds to handle 70,000 people. The beaches can only hold so many. Cars all over with people sleeping in them.
I had dinner at Mary Ellen’s. Good food. I have found the best to be a cup of tomato soup accompanied by a grilled cheese sandwich. Outstanding!
It has been a while since I have written about sex in Key West. Doubt Key Westers have been abstaining. However nothing unusual occurring.
Till monday. It was back to normal. A woman called the police. A bare assed couple were fornicating on her front lawn. They were arrested.
Came across an interesting occurrence in France.
A male employee was on a business trip. Met a strange woman. They were having sex in her hotel room. He had cardiac arrest. Died.
A French court said the dead man’s wife was entitled to recompense for his death. Money because he died on the job. The court equated sex on a business trip like “taking a shower or eating a meal.”
The fact the man was “cheating” was immaterial.
The employer had to pay.
Fantasy Fest less than a month away. A new event has been added. The Air Sex Championships.
Performed with clothes on, yet all about “fornication-adjunct actions.” Whatever that means.
Men are the performers. What they do involves song, courage, humor, and erotic imagination. The best description I could come up with is that it is like playing an invisible guitar, except the performer plays an invisible partner.
Things were apparently very competitive in 1955 in Key West. The motels were having a price war. On this day in 1955, 8 motels posted signs offering “free rooms to tourists.”
The City of Key West and the owners of the cruise ship Silver Spirit are in a pissing match. Over money.
Last year on November 24, the 608 passenger Silver Spirit hit a “mooring dolphin” near the Mallory Square hotel area as it was leaving.
Cost Key West $970,520 for repairs. The City did not put the repairs out for bidding because it thought it important to repair immediately so the businesses in the area would not lose money. The City also added on a 5 percent “administrative fee.” On top of which it also added loss of business because other ships could not moor till repaired.
The cruise line has offered $250,000 lees than the $970,520 the City claims it is owed.
The usual cries are emanating from City Hall. We are going to sue. We will not cut a penny. The lawyers will take care of it.
Not a wise approach.
These are relatively large dollars. $250,000 not that big a difference. The City will not recover every penny. That’s the way it is. The cruise line will have to pay more.
Throw the matter into some sort of binding arbitration and get it resolved that way.
Note also the City’s attorney’s fees will be out of sight if handled in the normal fashion.
There is nothing to be gained by either side in outright litigation. The parties should short cut the legal process with binding arbitration and get the matter resolved swiftly and cheaply.
I find hurricane Lorenzo interesting. In the process of making a loop back into the Atlantic.
At this time, it is a category 4. May go to a 5. May hit land in the Azores. No danger to the Caribbean or U.S.
My first “looping hurricane.”
I came across some quotes re lies and deceptions. Trump causes both to be in the background of the news daily.
The most well known lying quote is, “Oh, the web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” Another is, “When we with honeyed words but evil mind, persuade the mob great woes befall the state.”
Re deception, “People don’t change…..They just find new ways to lie.”
The southeast is in desperate need of water. Jean Thornton in Birmingham keeps telling me how dry it is and how long since it last rained.
It has rained in Key West for at least a month almost every morning. Today, I was up at 6. Raining. It is now noon. Still raining.
Enjoy your day!

England erupts with joy as team reaches World Cup semi-final
LONDON (Reuters) – It might not have triggered the earthquake sensors, but the roar of joy that greeted England’s World Cup victory over Sweden on Saturday was heard throughout the land.

Packed pubs and big-screen areas erupted as Gareth Southgate’s team dispatched their opponents 2-0 to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in 28 years.

Quaffing what are expected to be record amounts of beer, thousands of supporters at home took advantage of sizzling Summer temperatures to crowd into the open-air viewing areas that many cities had set up for the tournament.
Streets began to empty from mid-afternoon as the nation hunkered down to watch the eagerly anticipated quarter-final clash in the Russian city of Samara.
“There was just pandemonium,” said Edward Stapley, 26, who watched the game at The St Christopher’s Inn, a pub near London Bridge. “People were quite tense at first but when we scored there were beers flying in the air and people who had never met started hugging each other.”
Slideshow (8 Images)
Thousands crammed onto the shoreline at Brighton Beach in southern England erupted in joy as Harry Maguire headed home England’s first goal. Other big viewing centers included Millennium Square in Leeds and Flat Iron Square in south London, where hundreds of fans bedecked with the red and white flag of St George went wild when Dele Alli headed the second.
England supporters have been notably sparse in Russia, deterred by warnings of possible violence and logistical difficulties. But tour operators are now expecting a surge of fans heading for next Wednesday’s semi-final in Moscow against either Croatia or Russia.
British Airways, which has seen a 700 percent increase in searches for flights to Russia on its website since England’s penalty shootout win over Colombia this week, said on Saturday it would be releasing hundreds more seats on Moscow flights.
Most fans though will be crowding around the big screens again on Wednesday, perhaps singing – and maybe even believing -the 1996 anthem by the Lightning Seeds pop band, “Football’s Coming Home.”
The beer sellers can’t wait.
