"I see. . ." That would make it a bit easier to work with. Those without a sound mind are easier to manipulate. Perhaps she could use a bit of hypnosis. It has been a while since she did. . .
No, no, not wise.
"Would you say he's usually in the same general area as his home, or is it just a place he goes back to on occasion?" She found herself asking, looking to find a way to pinpoint him locationally first and foremost. She was going to guess likely not, but it was worth a shot in that regard.
She grabbed the notepad and the details written on it that he provided, pulling the page out to use a different one while having the information before her. Using another language, she started to write it all down in a specific way. One would almost claim it was akin to a spiritual summoning, if someone knew about that kind of thing. But she kept referring back to the book, writing down additional information from it until she felt that it was as close as she was going to get.

She was quickly writing down as many details as she could as he was peaking. From the actual details to how he was acting as he spoke about it all. After all, nothing could be too small in this situation, and Annette wanted to make sure she got as much as possible for future reference. "I understand what black and white witches are. The term has long died, but I know some older publications still hold onto the terminology. Technically, every person who practices could fall into one category or the other." It depended on who asked, though.
"I had heard about what happened to him, yes. It is completely possible that may have been the reason. A lot of curses tend to be seen as 'bad luck' happening to people or a family. 'Family curses' tend to actually be fairly common, just not in the way that people assume." With a small smile, she forced a chuckle at the comment. "It could be that your own family had done it, or an enemy wanted to curse someone who wasn't around anymore, so it was put on the other members. Only those with a pretty major grudge or constitution could intentionally curse an entire family." She hated the idea of that being the case, but it was worth considering in this scenario. Those who were considered true White Witches tended to make some pretty major enemies.
He still wasn't sure how to feel about this, but... "Our family originated from Puebla, so that was where we stayed. We had some relatives that died, so we visited the cemetery often. I...don't remember where the cemetery is, or which one it was, unfortunately. There are many cemeteries in Puebla, so it's only a vague starting point, but if something curse like was to be happening, it would probably happen over there."
A pause, he let her write that down, before speaking again. "There are white witches and black witches. I'm not talking skin color, so don't come after me. It's just how they're traditionally labeled. Um...to be honest, I haven't done much research on this. My parents had a few books when I was a kid, and I read a little about it. I think my Grandmother may have been a white witch, as they call it. But when Mom found out I was reading the books she took them away from me. I think she hated that part of our heritage. You might want to do a little more research before you go. I...wish I could give you more information, but I was young and I don't have the best memory."
But he paused for another second before--
"If someone put a curse on us, do you think...that's the reason....what happened to Taylor...? Did...Adam explain all that?"

That was exactly what she was trying to do, at the moment. Truthfully, the way they had the streets in the current day and age made it a bit harder to memorize and traverse them, but she knew she could, at least, get them back to the old Monet manor. Even as run down and dilapidated as it was, it was secluded, and no one seemed to go near it due to various rumors.
"I do, yes. . ." She mindlessly responded, gaze traveling over toward him. Annette offered a hand to the other, along with a small, nervous smile. "May we go? I will make sure that we aren't in the way of anything."
The last thing she wanted was for him to accidentally get hit by a random machine, or anything like that. It would very much be problematic if that happened. . .
"Hmmm. . . Is that so? If you insist, that it's fine. . ." He was admittedly a little quiet after having snapped. He knew that it wasn't fair of him to snap at her like that, but all things considered, he just didn't know how to feel about the sudden shifts in his environment and the fact that he was seeing his dear love right there, alive.
Yet, if the change in the technology was anything to go by, she should not be alive. He shouldn't be alive. So, how. . .? How was it. . .?
He didn't know. He didn't fucking know, but he figured that it was in his best interest to see if they could find somewhere that they could actually talk about it in private.
"Annette, dear, you don't happen to have somewhere that we could go to for some personal privacy, do you? Somewhere that we could discuss things without prying eyes on us?"

"I am aware that it might be fuzzy in memory or hard to tell," She admitted to him, pulling out a pen to be able to start recording any information she gets. "The most notable thing would be the general area, if possible. Even something like a county or town name would be helpful in gathering new information." She could look into the area, or go herself if need be.
"But perhaps anything that might've seemed. . . Odd, in hindsight. Any little thing can be helpful in a situation like this. Even something that you were told was just your imagination as a child, or family acting odd at the time." She was aware that it was not likely to get much information, but it was worth trying, at the very least. Just getting the area info would be enough for her to look further into it, truthfully.
He warily eyed her as she pushed the notebook closer to him. He hesitated a moment before reaching over to pick it up. He looked it over, a frown crossing his lips.
"...You think we might have been cursed?" Strangely, that thought had never crossed his mind. She was right though, he would be the only one with this kind of information. "To be honest, we stopped visiting a long time ago." But as the oldest sibling--
"What do you need to know? Is there something specific I should be trying to recall?"

"Hm? Oh, no, my fee has already been paid for." She commented, "Outside of that, even, I tend to not have as high of fees compared to other people who do this sort of thing. I do rather enjoy getting new information to learn about and take that into consideration." She had thought that Blanche let him know she had paid for all of this herself. However, the girl did like to try and keep her lifestyle a secret most of the time, so she could understand not mentioning it. Hopefully, the mention of lower-than-usual fees doesn't get the poor guy thinking.
"Until then, I'll give you my number, in case anything comes up." Grabbing one of her cards from her desk, she offered it to the other. "If anything particularly odd or dangerous happens, make sure to let me know so I can keep the information updated. Even small, unusual things may be of considerable help to this situation."
"That's true. He never talks about himself, even with us. We infer things based on...what we've seen, but if I were to try to tell you what he was actually feeling...I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to."
Not that he was any better, but he kept that to himself for now. Adam struggled with people. The only reason he was functioning with talking to a stranger right now is because he trusted Blanche's judgement.
"I...." He paused, struggling to get the words out. "Thank you for...helping my family. We don't have much, none of us do, but I'm sure we can find a way to compensate you."

"I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case." She spoke truthfully, letting out a quiet breath before moving her glasses back up onto her face. "But that is not the point. I believe I have a idea as to the source of his problem, more than simply the trauma of his incident."
She hoped this would get his attention well enough to keep him around.
"I was told you would be the only person who may have information on any relatives the rest of the family may not know about, or any incidents that may have happened to cause such misfortune to befall onto your family." Her gaze remained latched onto him, placing down a notebook, the one she had been using to take notes on everything so far. She slid it over to him to let him have a look at it himself.
"Of course I care for my family! Does this have something to do with them? Did Taylor hurt himself again?" He let out a curse in spanish, quite loudly, but then quickly calmed himself.
"If it's something like that, just say it outright! Don't be cryptic about it!" This didn't sound like it was about him at all, but he might be wrong about that--

She was writing all of this down as she was receiving the information. "I see. . ." The woman mumbled under her breath, before looking back up at the other. "It shouldn't be too difficult to find him with this information. While my specialty is 'curses' and 'blessings' as most would put it, I have made myself well-versed in almost every major category of magic."
Worse comes to worse, she'll curse him to make him sick or something, but if he was as bad as she was told, well. . . She wouldn't need to do that. He'll make himself obvious once one started to look for him.
"The biggest issue will, if anything, be trying to get him to talk about anything. I have no doubt it will be difficult."
"The theater. That's where he works, backstage. Also the bar on the corner of that street. He spends a lot of time there. There's a...basement part of the bar where sex workers hang out. He's...usually down there."
Drinking among other things.
"I'm...really sorry if this turns out to be stressful for you. My Brother, he's a nice man, he just...he went down the wrong path."

"N-no, no. . . I understand." She quietly responded, feeling her gaze latch onto the ground in front of herself. She had figured that she would find him when she heard the rumors of a person. . . 'Cosplaying' as a pirate was around. She had been around just long enough to be able to start to comprehend these modern words, and she just had that feeling that. . . It was him.
She was glad it was so, but she hadn't been expecting him to be so hostile. Annette could admit she had no idea how he actually. . . But she had hoped that her face was more of a relief than anything else. "They are used to my attire, however. The town just sees me as someone with a. . . Unique sense of aesthetic. So do not be concerned as to how I am looked upon."
everyone has a secret, and everyone lies. (Annette to Vinzent)
"Me and you both know this all too well, Ms. Monet. However, need I remind you that in our case, these lies are an unfortunately necessity for us to stay alive right now." As Vinzent had been guiding the silver haired young lady to her new destination, her little quip had partially struck a nerve. Sure, he was used to lying about who he was to others on a regular. It came with being a pirate, sailing into docks and bays that he'd normally be considered wanted in.
It was different to be doing it in a strange age where his appearance, and hers, would likely attract some unwanted attention that could very well get the both of them killed if people decided that it was no good. For the time being, people were accepting the fact that they were around for some sort of convention.
"I'm sorry, dear. I'm just confused and stressed."

"Professionally, no. Personally, yes." She would be honest about it, about the very least. She let out a breath, adjusting her glasses and getting a better look at the other. "I must admit, I find myself much pleased that I was the one to come across you. I highly doubt other relatives would want to. . . See you in this current state." She also felt they'd likely go off on him, but that was a whole other thing.
"Perhaps you may not see a point in such things, but I would like to believe that you, at the very least, care about your family." She pointed out, motioning for the other to take a seat at the seat across from herself with a pen. "Would you at least humor me? You may be the only one with potential answers to the plights of the others."
this is not the first time you tried to get away. (Annette to William)
"...Are you judging me?" He had the distinct feeling that he was being judged. What was it with all these women lately looking at him like he was pathetic?
"I don't like dealing with things I can't control, okay? I don't see any point in it."
