helvin's power of crossroads
(… from, Natasha Helvin's, Russian Black Magic, Destiny Books, 2019, pages 74-78)
Crossroads, such as intersections and forks, symbolize the difficulty of choice. The crossroads is the place where you ask: Which road should I take? Crossroads also symbolize uncertainty and loss of hope and longing for a lost shepherd, leader, or guide. In many cultures, a crossroads is a meeting place with transcendental forces (gods, spirits, the dead). The symbolism of the crossroads is like that of a door, marking the transition from the old to the new, from the earthly to the otherworldly.
Crossroads figure prominently in many cultures and traditions. Among African tribes, crossroads are often the place of ritual ceremonies. In Hinduism, the crossroads acted as a refuge for demons. The Romans prayed to household gods at crossroads. In ancient Rome, apart from the lares, patrons of domestic life, there were road gods, which were called Lares compitales. They guarded the wanderer from evil forces, and offerings to these road gods were made at crossroads as well.
For the ancient Greeks, crossroads bring a meeting with destiny. Statues of Hermes-Psychopomp, a spirit guide, stood at the crossroads. The god Hermes had many characteristics and represented many things. Hermes was the Olympic god of farmers and farms, travelers and hospitality, roads and trade, theft and love, prophecies and diplomacy, astronomy and astrology. He was also a god of science and wisdom, of art, of speech, of hope. And, most importantly: “God of writing.” He was the keeper of the crossroads and the entrances of the houses. He protected the trade, the travelers and the athletes. He had though, another talent.
He was Jupiter’s personal messenger, as well as the guide of the dead who led the souls down into the underworld. This last task required the fleet-footed Hermes to be able to cross the worlds with ease, which probably explains why he is also the god of crossing the border. His job was also to lead the souls of the dead to the entrance of Hades, where they waited for Harrodas to take. Hermes was the only Olympian god able to visit Heaven, Earth, and Hades, which enjoyed bragging to the other gods.
According to a Greek myth, the young Hercules sat at a crossroads, reflecting on his fate. It was then that the goddesses Arete (virtue) and Hedone (pleasure) appeared before him. The first offered the future hero a life full of difficulties and patience, which led to immortality; the second offered a path to joy and luxury. Hercules chose the first. In the famous Greek myth of Oedipus, it was at the crossroads that he met his father, whom he had never seen before and did not recognize, and killed him as the result of a quarrel.
The ancient Greeks believed that the three-headed goddess Hecate, who is associated with the realm of the dead and is the patroness of mages, ghosts, and witchcraft, appeared on clear nights in places where three roads converge. She is accompanied by spirits and howling phantom dogs. The Greeks left food at the crossroads for her. They turned to Hecate for help if someone was insane because it was believed that the spirits of the dead sent this disease to mortals.
Ancient crossroads were considered a symbol of the triple epiphany, combining three principles: active (good), neutral (productive or useful), and passive (harmful). For example, Hecate would shows the threefold aspect of a deity, embodying maiden, mother, and crone, and birth, fecundity, and death, as well as earth, sea, and sky. The crossroads is the symbol of choice in general and, in particular, the choice between life and death, as well as the sign of the transition from one space to another. As such, the crossroads is endowed with an ambivalent meaning.
On the one hand, this place was sacred. In Christianity, a crossroads, likened to a cross in its form, became the place of veneration of Christ. In the Middle Ages, crucifixes were placed at the crossroads of main roads to protect them from the presence of evil spirits. Christians erected crosses, chapels, and Madonna and other statues at crossroads.
On the other hand, the crossroads was considered to be the focus of harmful, impure forces. At the crossroads, witchcraft rituals were performed. In Europe, crossroads were seen as meeting places for mages and evil spirits. In Slavic mythology, the crossroads was considered a home for devils. Magical rituals often sought protection from the devil and demons at crossroads. In addition, the crossroads suggests the need to be particularly sensitive and cautious, because robbers often arrange ambushes at crossroads.
In Europe, there was a belief that you are likely to meet all kinds of playful creatures at the crossroads, including mages, who like to knock people off the right path. According to popular beliefs, ghosts also love crossroads. In German folklore there is a story about a crossroad in the town of Schleswig that ghost rider frequents. The neck of the rider’s horse stretches across the road and does not allow travelers to pass.
A legend popular in Pomerania, on the border of Poland and Germany, says that a traveler once stopped at night on a crossroads and saw a dark figure in front of him wearing long clothes and wooden shoes. To the traveler’s full amazement, the mysterious figure followed him home and settled in his house. Eventually, this man gathered his courage and spoke to the ghost. He asked the poor fellow to go with him to the cemetery so that he could say a few prayers and help the ghost to find eternal peace.
The spirits of the deceased appear near crossroads on the eve of All Saints’ Day (October 31), which was first a pagan and then a Christian holiday. On this day the barrier dividing the two worlds is believed to be the thinnest. Residents of Wales believe that a large number of spirits go to the crossroads on this night. In Europe, there are beliefs that on the eve of All Saints’ Day, the deceased form processions heading toward the homes of their living relatives, and a person who stands at a crossroads and puts his chin on a forked stick can see these processions.
In other cases, special spells make it possible to summon the spirits of the deceased to the crossroads. According to one ancient Danish rite, the person who needed to summon a spirit should go out at midnight on the eve of All Saints’ Day to the crossroads and stand inside a square formed by wagons. At the mention of his name, the ghost would appear and answer three questions.
Another belief was that some rituals performed at a crossroads on certain days (in particular, on the eve of All Saints’ Day) allow you to find out in advance who will die in the near future. For example, Welshmen believed that if a person went to the crossroads and listened to “the wind blowing over the feet of the dead” (the east wind), he would be able to hear sighs in those houses where people would die in the coming year. The highlanders of Scotland had a similar belief: if you sat on a three-legged chair at a crossroads, at midnight you would hear the names of those who were doomed to die in the near future. In German folklore, the same type of ritual was performed at the crossroads between eleven o’clock and midnight on Christmas Eve or on the eve of All Saints’ Day.
Traveling through crossroads had special significance in funeral rites. According to one ancient Welsh custom, the deceased were laid on the ground at every crossroads and read prayers over on the way from the house to the cemetery. Perhaps this was done to protect the deceased from evil spirits who chose such places for their visits and also, perhaps, to prevent the ghost of the deceased from returning to the house and interfering with the living. In Hesse, a central state in Germany, it was believed that the specter of the deceased would not return to the house if the dishes that belonged to him were broken at the crossroads. In Finland, participants of the funeral processions took the land from each crossroads they passed by and then scattered the land across the fields, thus protecting themselves from witchcraft (and ensuring a good harvest).
For many peoples, suicides were buried at intersections of roads. However, there are no intelligible explanations about this practice. Suicides were not allowed to be buried in Christian cemeteries. Perhaps this tradition is related to the fact that the cross formed by crossroads is associated with the consecrated ground of Christian cemeteries (where, as is known, no suicides were buried), or perhaps the reason for this is the desire to use the supernatural properties of intersections to prevent suicides from returning to life.
In many cultures, people believe that crossroads provide protection from ghosts. For example, one fairly common German superstition is that spirits cannot cross crossroads; thus, a person chased by a ghost or demonic being could shake his pursuer at a crossroads. As soon as the pursued person reached the crossroads, the spirit disappeared, issuing a completely inhuman scream. Similarly, the Irish believed that at the crossroads, fairy magic did not work and that mortals abducted by fairies could regain their freedom in such places.
Ancient Germans brought captured robbers to crossroads as a sacrifice to their gods, turning these places into a kind of scaffold. In medieval Germany, trials often took place at crossroads. According to later German law, it was legal to exact punishments at crossroads. In the Middle Ages, they traditionally buried executed criminals and those accused of witchcraft or suspected of vampirism at crossroads. The last, as a rule, were pierced through the chest with an aspen stake.

File: 001 - The Lady
『❀』 “In a garden of flowers, chéri--you are the most beautiful.” (uttered to Emmanuel before their duel)
Name: Cordelia Mévouilenet (Dreamer)
Rabbit: Mimi
『❆』 “Hello, have you eaten well today?”
Name: Lady Cordelia Mévouilenet (Awake)
Given Name: Cordelia Maria Chastain (abandoned)
Name Origin: Cordelia is of Celtic Origin, meaning “Heart; daughter of the sea.”
Mévouilenet is a name she thought of herself, after the Incident. Her given name, “Cordelia Maria Chastain,” means Daughter of the Sea + “Sea of Bitterness/Wished-for Child” + “Borne from a place with certain chestnut trees.”
Age: 24
Height: 150cm/5’0
Weight: 110lbs/49kg
Nationality: French-English
Short Description: A shy and polite young lady, until provoked to anger. Raised by a noblewoman and a Dream Mage, Cordelia is good at casual conversation (though if she is entertaining more than three people for a long time, she will grow very tired.)
A Dream Mage, Cordelia creates weapons and other items in the Dream Realm, while her waking body is asleep. She then pulls out these created items from within Mimi, her stuffed rabbit. Her other hobby is creating perfumes from plants she grows in Fleur-De-Lis, her realm.
Nickname: Lady comes from the Virgin Mary’s other names, “Madonna” (Italian for “Lady.”)
Birthday: January 13, 1996
Zodiac: Capricorn
Occupation: Dream Mage | HCC Host (unofficial) | Barmaid
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Demisexual (Only when an emotional connection is achieved does she think of someone as a potential romantic partner. Actually getting to the point where Lady considers forming a relationship is another thing altogether.)
Significant Other: None
Pact With: Beelzebub, the Avatar of Gluttony
Position: Presenting herself as a dom, Cordelia wants nothing more than to find an individual who loves her enough to convince her to relinquish the desire to control. She sways from a sensual dom to a switch, depending on her partner.
Family (&Friends): Cordelia adored her father, Jacques Anton Chastain—a French Dream Mage renowned for his talents in creating weaponry that was both elegant and unique. He taught her everything she knew about creation magic (although those moments were rare and fleeting.)
Vivienne Maria Chastain was a noblewoman who had half-elf blood flowing through her veins. She practiced healing magic and had “random” premonitions about the future. This makes Cordelia 1/4th of an elfin, although it does not affect her lifespan. She merely ages slower than most humans. Growing up, Cordelia and Vivienne were not close—she despised her mother for being too strict, whereas Jacques was kind and spoiled his daughter. Ironically, the night before The Incident, Vivienne expressed how she wanted to spend more time with her.
One of her most beloved friends is Mimi, a stuffed rabbit she and her father made together in the Dream Realm. She keeps it lovingly and uses it as a place to store her toys and other weaponry. Afraid of being used and rejected, Cordelia keeps people at arm’s length.
Friends:
Dominic Bellazzi: A man Cordelia would protect to the death. She was friends with the Italian inventor for around five years before having a brief three-year relationship with him. The two remain close friends and send each other gifts in the mail. He still calls her cara mia.
Emmanuel: One summer evening, she was tending to her flowers when a pair of strange shoes appeared before her. He attempted to eat her soul in the Dream Realm, but she fought back and beat him. He visits her from time to time, bothering her for tea and a friendly chat. It's a complicated friendship.
"Doll, do you have time for me tonight?" Emmanuel smirked as he waited at her doorstep.
"There's a pot of tea with your name on it if you make it worth my while." Cordelia placed a hand on her hip, annoyed. "Especially since I was in the middle of making something, Emmanuel."
The blonde man grinned, his fangs on display. "I think I've got a tale or two worth repeating, just for you."
Physical Description: Cordelia has waist-length platinum-blonde hair that ombres into pastel rainbow colors at the ends. In both Waking and Dreams, her eyes are stormy grey.
Face claim: Vocaloid Mayu
Personality: A well-mannered young woman, Lady is polite and friendly to everyone she meets. She expects the same treatment out of everyone and is quick to anger if someone is not “behaving properly.” However, she is painfully shy and will only open her heart to people over long periods of time.
Once people get to know her, she is a sweet and generous soul who is fiercely loyal to those who earn her trust. Unfortunately, the reverse is true as well—if her trust is broken, Cordelia never gives her trust fully again. Selfish and spoiled, she is often too busy worrying about herself and her demon to consider other people’s feelings on a deeper level. Caring for Beelzebub has given her a softness, but her emotions can quickly turn from overprotective to downright obsessive.
She tries to suppress a jealous streak and a need to control her environment, to ensure the people and things she holds dear remains safe.
Backstory: Cordelia’s birth was one of immense joy for her parents—they had been trying for eight years to conceive. Even among the Dreamers, female mages were rare. So, when Jacques discovered his eight-year-old daughter wandering in his realm, he was nothing short of overjoyed.
When the couple discovered Cordelia’s immense magical potential, they tried to raise her to have a normal life instead of handing her over to the Magi. It would be one of their major regrets in life.
Without proper training from more experienced magisters, Cordelia’s excess magic caused several side effects. She stopped growing after her 15th birthday and developed severe insomnia that prohibited her from getting a full night’s sleep. Instead of getting the standard 13 to 48 hours of rest, she only managed to get 5 to 8 hours of sleep a day.
To compensate, Cordelia began to maximize her time within the realm whenever she was present. The result was a deceptively sweet world full of dolls wielding knives, explosions, and flowers spitting out poison. Life was good until she woke up one day to a home in flames, and a man with ice-blue eyes staring back at her.
It had taken them nearly sixteen years, but the Magi finally found her. From what she saw, her parents put up a great fight—nearly all the soldiers were strewn dead on the floor, save for three. “Come with us, heretic. You need to be trained before your magic completely goes awry.”
Terrified and unsure, Cordelia followed, not even allowed to see her parents’ bodies. She harbored an immense anger toward them—especially for Henry, the Inquisitor with ice-blue eyes. But she needed help with controlling her powers, and perhaps they had something to fight the insomnia.
Ongoing Story: Things in the Magi Camp weren’t much better. Being of noble birth, Cordelia was given better lodgings than most but was mostly friendless—she was one of 20 female mages present—and so focused on trying to control her powers. She was given a sleeping draught twice a month whenever her insomnia prevented her from attending regular classes.
She began to learn of the true Dream Realm her father worked so hard to protect her from—mages that walked the planes were fated to hunt and destroy demons and other creatures that skulked around the edges of the Dream Realm, preying upon lesser folk.
With her issue of being unable to sleep at will, Cordelia was chosen to guard the “back line,” often becoming a healer just like her mother once was. In her spare time, she collects the ingredients required to create her sleeping draught. Being part of the Magi helped bring up her sleep quota from 5 to 8 hours to a respectable 12, and the draught helped her rest for nearly a week.
Once again, however—things take an unsavory turn when a First-Class Vampire made his way inside the Magi’s tower and began to pick off the students, one by one. Out of sheer desperation, the remaining students asked Cordelia to help them summon a demon; one that could possibly match up against the vampire.
She does so, following the students’ instructions to draw the spell circle. They had an ulterior motive, however—she was going to be the sacrifice in exchange for the demon’s services. At the last moment, she completed the summoning and in exchange, the remaining student body was taken instead of her.
It was said that the demon one summons isn’t dependent on the wants, but of what was needed at the time. So, when Beelzebub appeared from the portal and introduced himself as the Avatar of Gluttony, Cordelia found herself smiling at him. He was the friendliest face she had seen in quite some time. With his help, the Vampire was cornered in Henry’s room, and was taken out quickly.
While unhappy with what happened to the rest of the students, Henry had to admit that being able to summon and control one of the Seven Demon Brothers took skill and energy. Henry was about to take her in as his sole apprentice—until Beelzebub opened his monstrous jaws and swallowed him whole. Without anything binding her to the Magi’s Camp and with a demon at her disposal, Cordelia was free to roam as she pleased—and continues to protect her realm whenever she can.
For the Magi’s Camp has a long memory, and she was forever listed as an inkblot that could become a dangerous foe. Using the remaining magical energy from the Magi Camp, Cordelia opens a portal and steps inside. Her travels eventually led her to the HCC, where she works for her own amusement and extra pay.
She has taken the name Lady to distinguish the people who know her from her previous life to the one she has built for herself. From time to time, she takes on contracts—anything from assassination to a personal assistant—to keep her pockets lined with enough guineas to send her demon a regular allowance.
And with Beelzebub as a popular host at the club, Lady can focus on other magical matters—right now, however, a certain visitor to her realm is determined to interrupt her creativity…
Likes: Beelzebub, sweets, money, music, cute things
Dislikes: Rudeness, being manipulated, being forced to do something against her will, sharing Beel (although if he tells her that he has found someone special, she will indulge him, because she loves her pact demon)
Strengths: Generous, Loyal, Patient, Persistent
Neutral: Realistic, Ambitious
Weaknesses: Reticent, selfish, greedy, prone to jealousy
Defense Mechanism: Neurotic Repression. If things don’t go her way, the Lady will repress her negative feelings, preferring to deal with it by herself while protecting her home. When the “proper” outlet is unavailable, the Lady will simply shut down and deny anything is wrong.
Biggest Fear/s: Rejection, Helplessness
Extra: Humans will know Cordelia as “Lady,” but magical beings can sense that is not her real name. Residents who can visit dreams know her true name.

What added spice in the end was Angad's dialogue when he asked his mate "Tumare bhaiya soh gaye ka?" (scene with Pragya and dog) Unnati
Superb mindblowing acting by arhaan n kunal karan kapoor WOW (restaurant scene) ArhainAshiah

Spin_off show with Angad
Ok i love how everyone is so involved with getting a lady love for Angad, maybe there should be a spin off show with Angad as the lead.........I've already thought of the story.........so we all know that Angad has a sick mother in gawo (village)...maa maati nahi aur jeeti nahi hai
so the story is that the sick mum asks Angad to marry and chooses a bride for him and he marries her even though we know he has no interest in that and that's where the story starts??????????Now it won't be like the story of Pratigya where she fights for the rights of women in the Singh household......but i guess the story depends on who he would marryso which lucky girl should it be and what kind of life would they have??????
Rolli......she is strong and brave and will try to change him....make him more like Adarsh, get a job, stop hanging around with Lucky and Jugnu (poor guys) and maybe quit paan
Komal..........this sherni will try to be the male dominant in the relationship would be hilarious to watch, consant nonsense arguments, and threats that Krishna will beat him up
Arushi...........maybe she's too cute and sweet personality for him, she'll be too scared????
That's all the female characters.....maybe someone else???
Anyway what do you guys think?????????
Angad Wah Wah And Angad is back he made me laugh when he was talking about his sick mother Amma na jeeti hai na marti hai Xxxjrae
Since Rohli now looks set to be parted from Adarsh, I'd REALLY like her to be paired with Angad They'd work so well! She's civlized and gentle but she still speaks up for herself so she'd be perfect for Angad. Kunal's a real asset to the show since he's one of the best actors on it so they shouldn't just let him go on being the obstacle in the Kriya relationship and then just leave him by the roadside.... shi_no_tenshi
pehle b kaha tha aur abhi b keh rahi hun .... ANGAD N KOMAL .... will wrk wonders .... un logon ki khatti meethi kahani will be a treat to watch wd loads of masti + masala +khoob saara daraana dhamkaana - romance .... LuvKriya
kunal is so handsome and cute and arushi is cute too....they perfectly matched....but damn he is a gunda....all my dreams shattered in pieces. i hope they make angad good and arushi-angad track.....i am tired of his schemeing....he is a hot schemer Mages

Good second lead roles.
Now a days show writers are giving equal importance to other lead roles to make an impact amongst the audiences by their acting, though it may be a cameo but still their role is remembered. We take a look at few such roles.
Kunal Karan Kapoor in Pratigya He popularly known as Yudi of Left Right Left show, but now is more famous as Angad, the bad guy of Pratigya show. Whenever he is in the scene he takes all the credit by his acting style especially his style of having betel leaves.
