1. What is your name? Madelyn Avesnes. 2. Do you know why you were named that? Not really, I think my mother just likes fancy names considering all my siblings have long names as well. Names like this are probably popular among the nobility?

3. Single or taken? I am very single. Though I’d love to find someone to love, I can’t imagine having time for it with all my traveling. But you know what they say: you always find love when you least expect it! So who knows? 4. Have any abilities or powers?   I don’t know if it counts that I’ve been labeled a genius? I’m also a pretty good writer, considering my publisher is giving me weekly royalties of 680 simoleons for my very first sports book which isn’t even about actual sports? 5. Stop being a Mary Sue! I’m NOT a Mary Sue!! If I was, then I’d actually have a nice crowd of friends, I’d still be in proper contact with my family and I wouldn’t have abandoned my duties as a heiress just because my arranged husband decided to skip town. I’m a quitter and I neglect people once they are out of my sight. Out of sight out of heart, is that how the saying goes? Also, other people sometimes consider me too rational in situations when I should be more emotional... 6. What’s your eye color? Blue, I got them from my dad. 7. How about hair color? Brunette, can’t you see all of this in the picture above? 8. Have you any family members? Yes, too many of them. I have four siblings: Ferdinand, Celeste, Annabelle and Vincent. Annabelle and Vincent are actually fellow triplets of mine. My parents are dead. I have some nieces and nephews but I never saw them past their infant stage. 9. Oh, how about pets? I don’t know if Angel counts as my pet, since she was basically Ferdinand’s. But yeah, that dog was awesome and I still miss her sometimes. Maybe I’ll get one of my own later, but only when I decide to truly settle down somewhere. I can’t imagine having to drag along a dog on all my foreign adventures. It’d be too much of a hassle. 10. That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don’t like. I don’t like people who are fake friendly. Seriously, I can always easily spot it when someone isn’t being genuine and it just pisses me off. 11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do? As I said before I like to write, though I also like painting and playing the piano. 12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before? Definitely. I know she’s dead, but I’m sure I hurt my mother a lot by leaving Riverview. I promised her I’d make sure her legacy would live on and in the end I wasn’t able to fulfill this promise. Of course, I made sure Celeste took the job for me, but it’s not the same. I basically just passed on the responsibility that should’ve stayed mine. It’s why the memory of my mother always makes me sad I guess... 13. Ever … killed anyone before? Uhm, what? Of course not what the fuck? 14.What kind of animal are you? Humans ARE animals in case you didn’t know this. But I get the questions so I’ll answer it the way you want me to: I feel like I’d be an owl. 15.Name your worst weaknesses. My worst weakness is probably the difficulty I have to emotionally attach myself to something. I mean I can do it in the end. I was emotionally attached to my family for example, but it’s hard for me to find new things or people to attach myself to. It’s why I can’t stay in one place for too long!

16.Do you look up to anyone at all? I look up to Celeste a little. She appears to be superficial but I know she’s a lot smarter than she looks. She cares a lot about appearances, but she wouldn’t marry anyone that doesn’t have a brain. I envy her relationship with Herbert. They were so lucky, really. It’s why I had no problems passing on the inheritance to her, since I knew she’d be really happy in that kind of situation anyways. I do envy that.

17.Are you straight, gay or bisexual? I’m straight, though in all honesty I could probably marry a woman as well and be happy about it. I’d never truly be in love though but I was raised with the idea that marriage isn’t really about that anyways. 18. Do you go to school? I’m already finished with school. 19.Ever want to marry and have kids one day? Yeah I do, but only god knows when I’ll truly be ready for that. 20.Do you have fangirls/fanboys? Maybe back in Riverview where my household name was actually part of the elite, but the places I go now, nobody knows me. 21.What are you most afraid of?   I guess I’m most afraid of facing my dead mother one day haha... this is a sims world after all and it’s not out of the question that one day her ghost will show up in front of my door to punish me for abandoning the aristocracy! But for real? I’m afraid to be lonely my entire life. At one point back in Riverview I lived in a household of 10. Being all alone for years already has made me feel quite lonely and it is my fear that I’ll be alone for the rest of my life. 22.What do you usually wear? My everyday outfit that my creator never really changes because she’s lazy to go into CAS all the time. 23.What’s one food that tempts you? Nothing much, really. I’m a pretty disciplined person and don’t get tempted by stuff I shouldn’t be eating. Though on the other hand I’m also not one of those health freaks that doesn’t eat unhealthy stuff when in reality it’s delicious and it can’t hurt to eat it once in a while. 24.Am I annoying you? Some of these questions are a little shallow, yes. 25.Well, its not over! Alright. 26.What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)? I’m not in any class. 27.How many friends do you have? None. 28.  What are your thoughts on pie? No real thoughts. 29.Favorite drink? Coffee 30. What’s your favorite place? Abroad. I don’t have a favorite place (yet), but anywhere that is not my hometown is pretty awesome to me. 31.Are you interested in anyone?~ At the moment? No, not really. I don’t really know any guys besides my brothers. 32.That was a stupid question. … It wasn’t the only stupid question though. 33. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean? In the lake, salty water is bad for your skin. 34.What’s your type? Someone who has a nice set of brains and doesn’t try to be someone he’s not. I really don’t care what my future husband looks like, whether he’s fat or ugly or way shorter than me, it doesn’t matter. I’m not so shallow that I focus on looks when it comes to a life partner. But I’m not blind to attractive men either of course. 35.Any fetishes? ...? 36.Seme or Uke? I’m not a yaoi. 37.Camping or indoors? I like both, as long as it’s abroad.

The Avesnes Lepacy - 08

After spending a few days back home to work on her writing career, Madelyn decided to go to France next. She hadn’t been back there ever since she visited the place with her mother, but she still enjoyed the memory a lot so it was about time she returned to the beautiful town of Champs Les Sims. Back in Aurora Skies she had managed to write both a science fiction novel named The Colony of Salmon Woods, and a sports book about how it was a true sport to deal with four siblings. Writing about her siblings made her think of home a lot, and so the trip to France found its way into her mind.

Champs Les Sims hadn’t changed much at all in five years. The general goods store was still there, though the salesperson was someone different. Since she had spent most of her time with her mother and inside underground tombs, Madelyn didn’t expect anyone to recognize her. She didn’t recognize anyone either, though at the general goods store she did see someone who caught her eye for a second. A handsome man was checking out the garden gnomes in the store while also looking on his phone. Out of curiosity, Madelyn secretly looked over his shoulder to see what he was doing. She saw he was checking out a website that sold  garden gnomes. It seemed as if he was comparing prices to see if he could get the gnome in front of him cheaper elsewhere. Smart move, she thought to herself as she left the store. The salesperson had sent her to one of the old tombs underneath the ruins to fetch something. coincidentally, it was the same tomb as the one she had explored with her mother five years ago. It brought back a lot of memories as she descended down the secret stairwells and found the hidden graveyard with the maze again. Madelyn realized she had been thinking a lot about her family lately. Maybe it was about time she visited some of them. Birdgeport wasn’t too far away, so dropping by Annabelle and Vincent might be a good idea. IF they wanted to see her of course, since they hadn’t spoken in such a long time...

Back out of the tomb, Madelyn headed to the Nectary where she had a conversation with the nectar seller who was curious about her hometown and her reason for staying in Champs Les Sims. Madelyn chatted with him for a bit about her previous trip here, the lovely memories she had of this place and about the Nectary she had built in Riverview. She really wanted to stay longer, but unfortunately her flight was leaving in a couple of hours. On her way to the exit, she saw a familiar face checking out some of the nectar racks. It was the guy she had seen in the general goods store. He returned her curious glance as she passed by him, but neither of them said anything. Madelyn would’ve stayed to introduce herself, but unfortunately she had to catch her flight. The man was quite intriguing somehow. I mean, someone who buys a garden gnome and some nectar on the same day must be up to something rather interesting, right? Maybe she would bump into him again during a future visit...

The Avesnes Lepacy - 03

Madelyn really wanted to go to China as soon as possible, so she got to work instantly. Because it would take way too long before cash would start to flow if she wrote a book, she decided to head into town to see what she could gather for cash. Aurora Skies had a lovely community garden with plenty of vegetables to harvest, so that’s where she started out. Unfortunately, she wasn’t the only one who thought it was a good idea to harvest the garden... “Excuse me, sir? May I ask you why you are harvesting this plant? As a ghost I don’t think you really need them...” The ghost (Emil Olsson) who beat Madelyn to some of the crops laughed, his voice echoing in a creepy way because of his lifestate. “My dear, I might not need to eat, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to eat! Now get lost as I take this delicious garlic and throw it through my body just because I can.”

Now that the competition was too fierce at the garden, Madelyn decided to head to the central park to see if she could find some wildflowers. She did manage to find a few and gathered a whopping thousand simoleons worth of flowers. To celebrate, she joined a picnic table where a man named Jessie Clark had already prepared some hotdogs.  “Is it alright if I join you for a meal?” Madelyn asked him with her most lovely smile. “Of course! A beautiful lady like you is always welcome at my picnic table,” he smiled back at her.  “Is that your toddler who’s crying over there in the back?” Madelyn then asked him as she poured some ketchup on her hotdog and took a big bite. The man, who’s name was Jessie Clark glanced at the toddler near the fountain and shrugged. “Maybe...” Such a silly town this is.... Madelyn thought to herself. But she had to admit it was starting to grow on her a little.

The next day, she made a few extra simoleons with a painting and a few eggs. She now had plenty of money in the bank for a short trip to China! Not wanting to wait any longer, Madelyn immediately made the call and arranged herself a flight and a place to stay. It was time to do some exploring!

The Avesnes Aristocracy - 113

After everyone had blown out their candles and aged up -including Angel- it was time to party! Luckily the pub was open now and everyone was able to go inside. Many of the guests had unfortunately left already because they didn’t feel like doing nothing all evening long standing in the cold, but that didn’t mean there was no party! While Ferdinand stayed outside to give some love to his wonderful big dog, inside Annabelle and Madelyn were tearing up the dance floor together. They both felt amazing! Young, beautiful and strong women they were, ready for whatever life was going to throw at them...

One of those things that was going to be thrown at Madelyn at least, was an arranged marriage with Benjamin Ivanov-McDermott. He was still a teen at this moment, though he would age up in a day or two as well. Benjamin was one of the only guests who was still at the party. He was hanging out by the bar and watched his future wife dance from a distance. She was beautiful, he couldn’t deny it. He did feel like he could’ve done a lot worse than this. Still, he wondered if romance was ever possible between them. His parents had raised him with the mentality that marriage wasn’t for love but for politics and he was fine with that, but one had to be really blind to not see how wonderful a romantic marriage really was. Celeste and Herbert were a great example of what true happiness looked like. Benjamin was sure he and Madelyn would never get to feel that way. Even when they did come to love each other in some way, they were both way too rational to indulge themselves into silly romantic or passionate feelings for each other...

“I’m glad you’re still around mom! You might become the oldest woman in Riverview!” Celeste said, as she happily ordered her first alcoholic drink since her pregnancy ended. “Don’t be silly, that hag of a Ruby Broke- I mean your mother in law is still alive as well. I definitely plan to outlive her! I’m better than her at everything, so I have to beat her at this game!” Justine said, all fired up and ready to pass those 100 simdays. Celeste laughed.”That’s the spirit, mom! That’s how we know you.”

The party ended around midnight and everyone went straight to their beds. Madelyn was the only one who stayed up a little more to crawl behind her PC. Besides writing a novel, she sometimes wrote some random things in a digital diary. Not often, only when major stuff happened. Today was such a day, so even though she was exhausted, she took a few minutes to eternalize the evening:

I have finally reached the age I have been wanting to be ever since I was a child. I’m ready to be heir now. I want to make this family even bigger and better than it already is. I understand now why my mom has always been so passionate about this. When the weight of your household lays on your shoulders, you want to do everything to make it as great as possible. First, I need to make sure Vincent and Annabelle find someone to love. As much as I love them, they can’t stay here forever. It’s time this house moves away from our current generation and starts to focus on the next one. Maybe I should secretly put up a profile for them on an online dating site... I will have to look into this more tomorrow!

The Avesnes Aristocracy - 100

Just as he had planned and with a little help of Annabelle who figured out where they should go, Herbert took Celeste to France the day after she aged up. He had given her the trip for her birthday and she was incredibly happy about it! Finally she’d get to go to France as well and see why exactly her younger sister Madelyn had spoken so well about the place. What Celeste didn’t know, was that Herbert had a special plan! As soon as they arrived he took her to the beautiful art museum, where they spent some time in front of the pool of water being all lovey dovey together. It truly was a beautiful day in France, with several hot air balloons flying around in the sky. After making sure Celeste was in the best mood possible, Herbert went down on his knee and grabbed a small jewelry case from his pocket. Celeste was no idiot so she immediately knew what was going to be inside the case, but still she felt a rage of romantic feelings surge through her entire body as she watched the love of her life propose to her! “My dear Celeste, ever since I first saw you when we were children I knew that you were going to be my soulmate. We went from childhood friends to lovers while we were young, and now that we’re all grown up it’s time we truly tie the knot! Will you marry me?” Celeste jumped up and down from excitement as she nodded heavily. “Yes! Yes of course I’ll marry you!” she said, as she held out her hand so Herbert could put the ring on her finger. “I can’t believe this is finally happening! The ring is so beautiful as well! I’m the luckiest woman on the planet right now.” Herbert stood up from his knee and smiled brightly at her. “And I’m the luckiest man,” he said, while he took his amazingly beautiful fiance in his arms and hugged her tightly. “I love you,” Celeste whispered in his ear as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth of his body against hers. “I love you more,” was his reply. Celeste chuckled. “Impossible!”

The Avesnes Aristocracy - 65

[Read the story first before you scroll down for suspense purposes! :P It’s a long chapter, but an important one!]

The dice rolled off the table and everyone dived underneath it to see the result. All of them had different thoughts and wishes concerning the number the dice would roll. Ferdinand thought the whole dice rolling idea was terrible. He was a hundred percent sure that now that it was up to chance, he’d be the unlucky winner. As his eyes searched the floor for the dice, he made a vow that even if he had to become heir, he would never give up on Erika. Even if she had to become his mistress, he was going to stay with her. When he did finally find the dice, an immense feeling of relief surged through this body. Thank the heavens, it wasn’t him.

Celeste nearly bumped her head in excitement searching for the dice underneath the table. She hated the fact that the choosing of a heir was up to chance as well, mostly because she was pretty sure she was the only one that actually wanted to become heir. It would’ve made more sense to just pick her and everyone would be happy... hopefully fate realized this as well and it would be a two! “Where is it?! I don’t see it! Ferdinand your big head is in the way!” Celeste yelled, nervous as hell. “You can sit back up again, it’s not you,” Ferdinand said, as he grabbed the dice with the correct side up and showed it to her. Looking at the dice, Celeste felt as if stones fell down in her stomach. the inside of her mouth suddenly felt sour as she tried to fight tears. “Damn it...” she whispered. “It’s not fair.”

Annabelle had seen the dice as well before Ferdinand picked it up. She wasn’t too excited about the result, but she did think it was funny that in the end sweet and perfect Celeste did not come out as the winner. She had hoped it would have been Ferdinand, since he was so keen on leaving this place, but unfortunately, fate had chosen otherwise...

“Is it me? It’s me, isn’t it?! Please don’t tell me it’s me! I don’t know how to be heir! I give my spot to Celeste!” After seeing both Ferdinand and Celeste’s reactions, Vincent knew it couldn’t be them and that meant there were only three choices left. A 33% chance of being heir was way too high for him! After what had seemed ages, Ferdinand finally placed the dice back on the table. At first, Vincent thought he saw a five and was about to burst out in great panic, but then he looked again and saw it wasn’t a five after all. He let out a big sigh and leaned back in his chair. He had escaped the horrible responsibility as well.

Madelyn looked at the dice on the table and stared at the number on it for a while. She couldn’t say she was too happy about what she saw, but on the other hand, it could have been worse. At least now she was sure this family would be in good hands, even if it meant some sacrifices had to be made. One thing was for sure now though, mom wasn’t going to allow her to wait out her death to pick a partner... that four on the dice meant most definitely that mom was going to push a wedding for her as soon as possible... “Congrats, sis! It seems like you’re going to marry Benjamin!” Annabelle said with a smirk on her face. Maybe she wasn’t capable of truly bullying Madelyn like she was with Vincent, but she was definitely going to enjoy watching her perfect and brilliant sister live through at least some misery! Justine didn’t know yet about Madelyn’s friendship with Benjamin Ivanov-McDermott, but now she wouldn’t be able to hide it anymore. “This is great! Madelyn, I’m very delighted to have you as my heir! Your beauty and intelligence will definitely be a great benefit to this legacy and I’m sure you will pass it on the many children you will have with your future husband! Is that Benjamin Ivanov-McDermott Annabelle is talking about? Does that mean you guys are familiar with each other already? That’s perfect! It will make things a lot easier for all of us! I can’t wait to see you in your wedding dress, my dear!” Justine said, her eyes excited about the result. Finally this legacy could move towards the next step!

Avesnes Lepacy - 14

Fortunately for Annabelle’s life, Jerry did come back pretty soon after leaving. Vincent was extremely nervous as he walked up to him, his face struck with the fear of total rejection. He wouldn’t mind it if Jerry was never going to like him back. He knew the chances of that were very slim to begin with. But he definitely did not want to lose his best friend. “I’m terribly sorry, Jerry. I know I shouldn’t have lied and I should’ve told you from the start about my sexuality and everything... I hope you don’t feel awkward about it and I really wish for us to continue to remain friends... I’m really sorry for my sisters disastrous behavior as well, I really should’ve told you all of this myself... Will you still be my friend, considering everything she said?” Vincent asked, throwing Jerry some desperate puppy eyes. Jerry smiled at him and Vincent instantly felt all muscles in his body relax a little. A smile! That was a good sign, right?! “Don’t worry about it, Vince. Though I would have preferred to see you put some trust in me regarding this, I’m sure you had your reasons for keeping things quiet. All I can really say is that I feel sorry for all those girls who thought they’d get to go home with you, haha! But for real, I’m flattered you like me. I never experienced something like this and maybe I’ll say some weird shit once in a while, but I definitely do not want to lose my best friend over something like this! Please, be yourself around me, that’s what friends are for,” Jerry told him. Vincent felt like he could cry from relief. “Thank the heavens!” He said, laughing his nerves away. Jerry laughed with him.

“See, all good. Seriously, Maddy. If I hadn’t stepped in, three years from now he’d still be pretending to take girls home every week. He needs me, whether he likes it or not,” Annabelle told her sister. They were standing a few feet away from Jerry and Vincent and could follow their entire conversation. To Annabelle’s surprise, Madelyn was not happy with her action at all. “Seriously, Annabelle, what the fuck is wrong with you?! I thought you’d be an adult by now but you’re just as bad as you were when we were kids! What makes you think you have the right to interfere in Vincent’s life?! He’s perfectly capable of making his own choices regarding his friends and his lovelife. If he wanted to take girls home for 3 years more, that’d have been his own choice! You have no right to mingle with that! Do you have any idea what you could’ve done?!” she yelled at her. “Jeez, relax sister. You and Vincent both act as if telling people you’re gay is the worst thing in the world. Hellooo we live in the 21st century! For fuck’s sake it shouldn’t be such a goddamn problem to come out!” Annabelle yelled back, frustrated about the fact that everyone was making such a big deal about something that would’ve only been something minor if Jerry had been a girl. “This isn’t about that at all, you moron. It’s about you making a decision for another adult that could’ve potentially made a friendship that was very dear to him awkward or worse. You and I have no clue what kind of person Jerry really is and for all we knew he’d not be able to handle one of his friends having a thing for him, girl OR boy!” Annabelle let out a defeated sigh. “You need to lighten up a little. Creating drama for no reason. This is exactly why I left Riverview. You really do sound like mom, guess you’re the perfect heiress after all. So worried about your brother losing face that honesty and trust comes in second place. I can’t believe you’d encourage this fake relationship he was having with that guy.” Before Madelyn could react to that statement, Annabelle had already turned her back to her and went to the bar to order herself a drink. Vincent went to go do the same -though he made sure to sit all the way at the other side of the bar-, so she was left with Jerry. “Want to go test out the bubble machine?” Jerry asked her. She nodded, she could definitely use some distraction from those two.

“So your family is quite something.” “I’m so sorry you have to be in the middle of this. Annabelle is a horrible woman, please stay away from her as much as possible. She will find a way to ruin your life one way or another,” Madelyn sighed. “You don’t need to apologize. I envy you guys, really. I never had siblings. Watching you guys, I really wish I had some. I’m not saying I’d appreciate a sister doing something like Annabelle did, but the way you guys interact with each other is really special. I mean, look at Vince. He’s already talking to Annabelle again.” Madelyn glanced at the bar and saw the both of them throwing minor insults at each other. “If you consider that talking...” she laughed a little. “Annabelle is horrible but she’s still our triplet in the end. We have to love her just as she is, because she’s family.” “That is a very noble way to look at family. If all people in the world thought like you, it would be a better place,” Jerry said, staring at her for a little with a vague smile. Madelyn avoided his glance, feeling a little warm in her cheeks from his stare. “I’m not as perfect as you make me sound,” she mumbled. “Alright. How about you and I hang out tomorrow, just the two of us, and you can prove me how imperfect you really are,” he suddenly proposed. Madelyn stared at a few bubbles that she had blown and smiled lightly. “Sure, I’d love that.”

The Avesnes Lepacy - 10

Madelyn drove to the building Annabelle had told her she could probably find Vincent and rang the bell of the residence on the top floor. It belonged to a certain Jirawat Thongsang, who was probably the colleague Annabelle spoke of. A male voice that wasn’t Vincent spoke through the intercom. “Yo who’s there?” “Uhm... I’m here to see Vincent! I’m his sister.” “Oh, sure! Come on up.” As he said that, the elevator opened its doors with a loud ping. Madelyn got inside and pressed the button to the nineteenth floor. This building was pretty fancy. Jirawat must have been quite rich to be able to live here.

Once she reached the top floor, he was already standing there with the door open. Annabelle wasn’t kidding, this guy really was handsome.  “You must be Anna, right? Vince has told me a lot about you. I have to say I expected someone who looks a bit more...” “...like a partygirl? Well, I’m not Annabelle if that helps. My name is Madelyn. Vincent has probably never spoken about me. I’m his other triplet. We haven’t seen each other in long time. Is he here?” “Ohh! You’re Madelyn! Of course Vince has told me a lot about you! You’re the heiress, am I right? The one who skipped town when her arranged husband-to-be fled the scene?” Oh great, just how she wanted to be recognized: as the heiress who ran away after her arranged marriage failed... This guy must think she was a total nutjob. “I’m Jerry, by the way. Vince is my colleague and my friend, but you probably already knew that or you wouldn’t be standing here. Come inside! Vince is out to grab us some beers but he’ll be back in a bit. You can wait for him here.”

They walked into the penthouse which was pretty impressive just as Madelyn had expected it to be when she entered the building. His furniture was pretty basic though, as if he hadn’t given much thought to it.  “So you must know Vincent pretty well if you know all that stuff about me?” Madelyn asked him after she had taken some time to check out her surroundings. “You can say that. Vince and I were both new at the school and we became friends pretty quickly. We like to hang out, though he always wants to go here for some reason. That’s why I’d never seen your other sister yet. Vince does like to talk about you guys a lot. I’m sure he’s going to be thrilled to see you,” Jerry told her. He seemed pretty nice so far, disregarding his bold statement outside just now. Madelyn could understand why Vincent liked this guy. He was charismatic -even to strangers- and handsome. “Well, please don’t think you know me just because Vincent has told you about my awkward past. I’ve changed a lot in the past five years and I don’t think he’s a very reliable source to judge my character from. Just a heads up, you know,” Madelyn said. Madelyn thought to herself. Suddenly she became very excited for her brother. “You can tell me! I’m basically family,” she said with a smile, indicating she might be his sister in law soon. “Ha! Well, since you’re a genius you would probably figure it out within minutes anyways. Vince and I are going out tonight. We need some serious uhh... conversations with pretty ladies! It has been a while since we did that.” Madelyn’s smile disappeared just as fast as it had appeared. Her excitement died out again. “Ladies?” She asked, not able to hide her shock. “Yeah! You should see your brother! He’s a beast! The girls LOVE him. He’s the perfect wingman, really. But hey, if you join us I might not need one. I could just have serious conversations with you instead,” Jerry said with a slight smirk on his handsome face. Madelyn bit her lip as she smiled back with a slight blush on her face. This guy was clearly not gay. In the meantime her brain was in overdrive. Vincent was a beast with the ladies?! What was going on here? Somehow she could feel there was a lot of awkwardness up ahead...

The Avesnes Lepacy - 09

Back in Aurora Skies, a serious case of homesick struck Madelyn hard. France had completely brought her back to her previous life and she felt incredibly lonely all by herself in her tiny home. Though the townies here were nice, she hadn’t spent enough time with them to make some friends. This was mostly because she was always traveling, but for some reason she was just unable to stick in the same place for too long. Maybe because there was just nothing to stay home for...

After thinking it through some more, Madelyn decided to go through with her plan to visit her siblings in Bridgeport. She debated whether she wanted to surprise them or not and decided to give her sister a call just in case they would be out of town and her trip would be for nothing. “Hey Annabelle, how nice to hear your voice again. It’s me, Madelyn! How have you been?” “Maddy? Is that really you? Damn girl! I haven’t heard from you in ages! Vince and I thought you were dead or something. We’ve been doing fine here, we’re getting by, you know! Bridgeport is pretty awesome, plenty of parties every night so I’m never bored. What about you? Are you still a nomad?” Madelyn suddenly felt tears welling up in her eyes. She coughed a little to make them go away. Hearing her sisters voice somehow made her very emotional. “Kind of... I did settle down into a house in Aurora Skies but I’ve been spending more days abroad than at home. It’s been nice though, just a little lonely. I really miss having you guys around.” “Aurora Skies? That’s not too far! If you miss us so much, how about you get your butt over here so we can hang out?” Madelyn was glad Annabelle made this proposal so that she didn’t have to invite herself. “I’d love to! Are you guys home the coming week?” “I’ll be home, I don’t know about Vince he’s been quite busy being a teacher and all, but I’m sure he can find some time to catch up with his fellow triplet! See you soon, Maddy. I can’t wait to show you my new tattoo!” “T-Tattoo? I definitely have to see that. I’ll be on my way in a couple of hours!”

And so Madelyn packed some of her bags to spend five days at her siblings in Bridgeport. She was extremely excited to see them again. She wondered how much they had changed. Annabelle apparently had a tattoo now, mom would turn around in her grave if she knew about that... And Vincent was a teacher? That was a pretty respectful job. Being around children was perfect for him, he was great with kids (mostly because he was sometimes still a kid himself).

After a few hours of driving, Madelyn reached the crowded city of Bridgeport. The amount of skyscrapers made for a pretty impressive view, even though the weather was horrible. Annabelle and Vincent lived together in an apartment right in the city center. When Madelyn rang the doorbell, it was Annabelle who opened the door for her. She did look quite different from five years ago. Her hair was a bit longer again and the tattoo on her arm was quite prominent. She was still as beautiful as ever though. Madelyn wouldn’t be surprised if she had a superstar boyfriend. “It’s really nice to see you again, Maddy! You haven’t changed one bit since five years ago. Look at you, your hair is still as beautiful and wavey as always. You know I’ve always been jealous of that! Did you age at all?” Madelyn laughed. “Speak for yourself! I never realized it before but damn you really look like mom! Dye your hair blond and we wouldn’t know the difference. Is Vincent home?” Annabelle shrugged. “Nah, he’s always out and about. I think he has a crush on one of his colleagues. He’s probably over there right now to hang out or something. You should go there, maybe you can catch him and we can have dinner together.” “Alright. Hand me the address and I’ll go surprise our bro. Does he know I’m visiting?” “Nope! He’ll be in total shock!” “Awesome, see you in a bit sis.” “Stay safe and keep your pants on! If I have to believe Vince, that colleague of his is quite the handsome man.” “Shouldn’t he be gay?” Madelyn asked, getting quite curious about this colleague now. “Knowing Vincent? Probably not. That guy has the worst luck in love,” Annabelle laughed. “Remember when he tried to get girls?” Madelyn laughed with her, though she did feel a little sad for Vincent. Hopefully this colleague would be his happy ending.

Casting Call: need male suitors for Madelyn Avesnes!

First of all thanks to @goatkibble for this awesome idea!

As you guys know we have recently started a new LEPacy with Madelyn. She’s going to represent World Adventures which means she’s going to spend a lot of her time abroad. But in the end, we will need a next generation so Madelyn needs to find love as well! This is why I’m giving you guys the opportunity to create some male suitors for Madelyn. I have very limited spots, but I also need these males as soon as possible preferably in the next few days, so please only sign up if you can make a sim within this short amount of time!

So what exactly do I need? I need 4 males in total. One from France, one from China, one from Egypt and one from Bridgeport. Madelyn will spend an equal amount of time at each of these destinations and will meet these 4 men. In the end, there will be a poll to vote for who will become her future husband.

Below the ‘read more’ line I’ll give you all the details on what information I need from your sim and a few restrictions regarding CC. One spot is already reserved for @goatkibble since this was her idea.

So these males all come from a different country and this needs to be reflected in their ethnicity. I want the Egyptian and the Chinese to have an Arabic and Asian look, but for the French guy and the Bridgeport guy you are free to choose their ethnicity. First come first serve, so when you sign up please choose a country as well and make sure someone in the replies above you hasn’t chosen it already.

The deadline for your sim is January 2nd TOPS. The sooner the better!!

Please do not use any CC make-up for your male sim. I don’t want CC nose masks or other facial features like wrinkles or eyebags or whatever in my make-up section. This is because I don’t want my make-up section to clog and also because I don’t want my sims to look like they come from another game compared to the regular townies.

No CC clothes. I do have all expansions and stuff packs and a lot of store content clothes so feel free to pick those. If you have any cool custom patterns, please do use them and share them! I can’t ever have enough patterns.

CC hair (facial as well) or skin is fine. I use Kurasoberina’s Primer HD+ skin as a default replacement, but if you want to use a different skin, please give it to me as a nondefault so I can add it to my game without any problems. Please do use alpha CC hair if possible! I’m not a fan of maxis match. 

I would prefer if you don’t use eye contacts. I really love genetics in the game and eyecolor is one of my favorite things to pass on. It’ll lose the charm if I have to manually add them each time to their kids. I use Oh My Tiffany default replacement eyes. There’s also a nondefault version you can download here if it’ll help you pick an eyecolor.

Custom sliders are fine. I have a shit ton of them but do tell me which ones you use in case I miss some that you have.

Your sim has to be a young adult.

Things I need to know about your sim: - Their background story (tell me something about their family, their youth, are they rich, powerful, etc.) - Their characteristics/personality. I don’t just mean traits. Give me as much information as possible. The more detailed you are, the better the chance I write your sim the way you imagined him to be. Don’t forget to add some flaws! - The career/skills you have in mind for them (self employed or rabbithole, the professions are for the Ambitions generation).

So I managed to save Madelyn to my bin and I’ve thought about what I’m going to do with her...  I decided I’m going to start a new legacy with her. I didn’t want to just start a random legacy without giving it some sort of theme, so I decided it’s going to be a lepacy. This means that each generation will resolve around one expansion pack only. Madelyn is going to be World Adventures! I moved her into Aurora Skies. It’s going to be five years after her young adult birthday back in Riverview and I’ve written a background story as to why she’s moved and what happened to everyone else (this will be the first chapter).

For the sake of this lepacy I have changed some of her traits (she had a few random ones that I never mentioned), and I changed her LTW to Great Explorer. Her traits are: - Genius - Virtuoso - Bookworm - Disciplined - Adventurous

I’m going to keep the same lifespan as I have with the colony because I haven’t figured out how to do separate lifespans within the game and I’m too lazy to figure it out. So yeah that means 41 days of YA and 41 days of adult, with a short elder and child stage. I’m going to install Nraas traveler and see if I can set some interesting settings for when Madelyn goes traveling (I don’t want aging to pause while they are on vacation for example because then her generation will take ages). Once I’ve figured that all out I’ll give a small update on those settings so you know what to expect.

I’ll post one update a day. For now it’ll be at 5pm because I post an update of the colony at 7pm, but I’m going to change this in the new year to 1 Avesnes update at 7pm and 1 Colony update at 9pm. The Avesnes Lepacy will have the same format as the colony, so 6 pictures on top with the chapter below.

So first update will be tomorrow 5pm (CET)! :)

Bad news... :(

My harddrive is the problem. We took it out and connected it to my dads pc with a special device but weren't able to access the files (it'd just get stuck loading). It's just broken and the files can't be retrieved at least not through a computer. My dad will keep it and will experiment on it to see if he can find another way. I do know I'm not going to take it to a pc shop for retrieval because it will be too expensive and not worth it.

This means I lost the following saves:

I have old versions of these saves but they are too old and I'd have to go back too far in the story for it to make sense. I'm terribly sorry but it seems like we have to say goodbye to these stories... I have Madelyn as a child I think (i hope, i did delete a few back ups recently because i needed space ugh) so I'll save her to the bin on my laptop if I can and I'll think about a new kind of story I can start with her. I'll have to think about this though :(. I kind of don't want to play her as a new sim without her family background. I'll let you guys know once I've figured something out.

The Avesnes Lepacy - 06

Something terrible happened to poor Madelyn this night! While she was sleeping soundly, dreaming about all the wonders of the world that she still had to explore, a burglar sneaked into her home! There was no alarm because it had been too expensive, but luckily Madelyn woke up from the sound of the door closing. She immediately called the police. “Help me! There’s a burglar in my home! Please come quickly, she’s standing right here in my bedroom and is about to steal my precious computer!” “We’re on our way madam, please hide somewhere for your own safety!” “…I think she already saw me…” Madelyn whispered through the phone as the burglar was standing right in front of her. “Don’t mind me, I’m just here to steal some things. I’ll be out of your hair before you know it!” How rude!

Of course the police reached the house way too late. The burglar was already gone by a long time and she had taken Madelyn’s computer with her. “We’re sorry madam, we came as soon as we could but it was a busy night. Please do install an alarm so that we can be there sooner next time,” the policeman said, smiling awkwardly. Madelyn let out a defeated sigh. “How am I going to continue my writing now? You’re lucky I didn’t start on a novel yet!”

After the policeman left, Madelyn grabbed a book from her bookcase that she had bought back in China. It was an instruction manual on martial arts. Maybe, if she practiced this skill a little bit, she could handle the burglar by herself next time. One thing was for sure though: it was about time she went on another trip. Maybe she could find some valuable relics in Egypt to sell so that she could buy herself a new computer.

The Avesnes Lepacy - 01

Five years had passed since the evening Madelyn Avesnes aged up into a young adult. The world around her had changed a lot during these years. It was as if it had been another lifetime, those days when all that mattered was her arranged marriage to Benjamin Ivanov-McDermott. It was crazy how much could change in such a relatively short time…

Her mother Justine had died only a few days after Madelyn had aged up and with Justine’s death, it seemed as if the flame that kept the Avesnes household burning died as well. Ferdinand got a random girl pregnant and was forced to move to another city so that the Avesnes name wouldn’t be damaged too much by his immoral actions. Vincent turned out to be gay, and even though Madelyn had begged him to stay in Riverview, he decided that he wanted to try out life in a more open minded city like Bridgeport instead. Annabelle went with him, mainly because she loved parties and Riverview wasn’t much of a party town compared to the city that never sleeps. They probably live in a shabby apartment right now, trying to pay rent from the little talent they have as virtuosos. Madelyn hadn’t heard from them in years.

And Celeste? Well, she and Herbert were still living happily ever after in Riverview of course. The twins were probably in school now, being the most popular in class, no doubt about that. They were basically the only ones who kept the Avesnes name up high, though Celeste had taken Herbert’s name so it was really more the Bagley-Broke name that took the spotlight.

Madelyn had spent some time by herself in the huge mansion, with only Josie keeping her company. She was really lonely during these days and was anxiously waiting for Benjamin to fulfill his duty and to propose to her, but that never happened… Benjamin decided in the end that he couldn’t go through with the arranged marriage after all and he ran! Just like that, one morning he left before dawn only leaving a short note saying he was going to travel the world and find true love. He was never coming back. Benjamin abandoning her completely broke Madelyn. The always so strong and calm Avesnes heiress had lost all hope in fulfilling her mother’s wishes. And so she decided to pass on the inheritance to her sister Celeste and left Riverview as well with just enough cash to get by. She didn’t feel the need for any riches, as she was planning to live as a simple commoner for the rest of her life.

After traveling the world for quite some time, Madelyn finally decided to settle down in a place called Aurora Skies. Here she bought herself a small piece of land where she could build a basic home. After wandering around aimlessly for so long, she finally wanted to find a true purpose again in her life. She wanted to find love, to have children and to teach them all the important stuff she had learned throughout her own life. She was never going to rebuild the aristocratic status of her household name, but she was definitely ready to start her own kind of legacy!

The Avesnes Aristocracy - 110

The morning of the triplets’ birthday, Celeste woke up with severe contractions! “Oh... Herbert? I think the baby is coming!” Herbert, who had still been asleep got out of the bed and instantly started to panic. “Oh no! What do we do?! Should we go to the hospital?! Should I get you some water? Towels? What does a man do in this situation?!” he screamed. “HOW ABOUT YOU SHUT UP AND GO AWAY IF YOU CAN’T MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL!” Celeste screamed back, though her yelling was mostly because of the pain she was going through. Instead of going to the hospital she moved to the nursery on the other side of the mansion. Herbert realized he’d probably be a better help by staying away as Celeste went through labor in ‘peace’ by herself...

After a few hours of agonizing pain, magic started to happen and Celeste gave birth, not to one baby but two! First a boy appeared in her arms, who would carry the name Hector. Second came a girl, who she gave the name Veronique. Hector clearly inherited Celeste’s skincolor, while Veronique was as pale as Herbert. Celeste was incredibly happy with her two babies, and she wasn’t the only one! Right after she had finished labor, Justine came into the nursery to keep her company and to hold one of her first grand kids. “I’m very old and I’ve had many happy days in my life, but this is probably the best one. They are both beautiful Celeste, just as beautiful as you and your husband,” Justine said with a glowing smile on her face. Celeste glanced at her mom. She did look genuinely happy while holding Hector. But that wasn’t all she could see in her mom’s eyes. It was as if Justine now finally felt like her life was complete. At 94 simdays old, the chances she would get to see her heir Madelyn get married and have kids were extremely small, so the birth of Hector and Veronique was the only confirmation she was going to get that her legacy would last at least one more generation. Celeste couldn’t help but to feel a slight sadness overwhelming her as she watched her old mother awe over her new grandchildren. She truly hoped that her mom would somehow pass the 100 day mark...

I think she needs to consider that she's part of the problem. At no time did she tell Hunter that he needed to do more until she couldn't handle that he wasn't doing more than he was supposed to change overnight. She needs to grow up as much as he does. Yeah she works and makes money but she sure doesn't know how to communicate.

That’s definitely true! She just expected Hunter to read her mind, though Hunter also never took the trouble to properly talk to Violet about his own issues. In Sims they do need to change overnight though because time moves fast and I don’t want Violet to be an elder while her kids are still kids haha.

Hmmmm. I still think this was a rash decision. Not that his behavior is acceptable, but she's hormonal and emotional and she just made a very quick decision (again). She needs to learn to talk more and stop making snap decisions before she's even talked to people.

The decisions she made were rash from the start, but that’s also because of me because I wanted things to move along so that they wouldn’t be too old by the time they all settled permanently. Even though I slowed down story progression as much as possible, the town moved around at about the same pace as the story. Try to think of the years (which are 7 simdays) as real human years. So even though it’s just 7 simdays, convert them in your brain to 365 days. If you think of it like that, time and events in the story move at a more natural pace :). We started in the year 2238, we’re now in the year 2241! So 3 years have passed. Violet spent about a year finding a partner, a year living with him in peace and then another year where things went downhill and she broke up and moved on to Davey.

She’s definitely a very pretty sim I love taking pictures of her gorgeous face! She has many great expressions as well.
