In The Rock 1/29/1979: ‘Look Sharp!’, Joe Jackson’s debut album, hits record stores in the states. Rolling Stone gives the record 5 stars and it hits #20 on the chart. Jackson’s songs are all brilliant, and his band, featuring Gary Sanford on guitar, Graham Maby on bass and David Houghton on drums was phenomenal. #JoeJackson #RockHonorRoll

Christmas is the time when the world slows down a bit, hopefully giving us some time to reflect and rest before the next year. It’s a time to reconnect with the people and things that mean the most to us. To gather inside our warm homes filled with lights of all kinds, sharing meals, stories and good times – and laughs – while the darkness and cold of winter is forgotten for a while. And to help you to make this a joyful, fun and recharging holiday I’d like to share 120 short Christmas quotes. I hope you’ll find something here to inspire you and that you can share with family and friends on Christmas cards, in a funny text or on your Instagram to bring a little bit of Christmas magic to them too. To touch a word, aquiver
There must be a forgetting; else, it’s horror quotidian. - Mabi David, “You are Here”
Suppose words have hands. Suppose words can wield a knife and a gun. Suppose, to say, horrendous; painful; gut-wrenching; a reminder of a welt and the belt; a memory of my father holding a gun to my brother’s head, le sillage d’une cigarette fumé par un enfant.
That is to say, suppose words can stand for bodies, suppose words occupy bodies, suppose words are traces of a carcass, suppose words will suffice to animate the body and the horror it has witnessed, suppose words are more than just tributes, suppose that you will see nothing but these words and not the reckonings that expunged these words. Suppose that at the end of this poem you will have nothing else to remark but the words— how beautiful, that was beautiful, those words.
