hiii I love your fanfics!! Could I request one with gavi where he takes you to la feria de Sevilla. And she isn’t from Spain so he shows her around la Féria and teaches her how to dance and maybe also he is starstruck seeing her in the flamenco dress. Pleaseee
La Feria De Seville - Pablo Gavi
WC: 700+
warnings: incorrect grammar (probably), my first language isn't english so if you notice any mistakes please tell me, fluff!
Quick explanation of La Feria De Seville:
The Feria de Seville started in 1846 as a livestock fair. It was organized by two councillors, Basque José María Ybarra and Catalan Narciso Bonaplata. The fair was held at the Prado de San Sebastian, on the outskirts of the city. Over time, the festival evolved into the lively and colorful event that it is today.
The fair generally begins two weeks after the Semana Santa, or Easter Holy Week. It officially begins at midnight on Saturday, and runs 7 days, ending on the following Saturday
send me requests!! ❤️
As you step off the bustling streets of Seville, Spain, into the vibrant chaos of La Feria de Seville, Pablo takes your hand, his eyes sparkling with excitement. You can feel the energy pulsating through the air, the sound of flamenco music mingling with the chatter of the crowd. This is a world unlike any other, and Pablo is your guide.
"Welcome to La Feria, mi amor," he says, his voice warm with affection.
You follow Pablo through the maze of colorful tents and bustling crowds, your senses overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the festival. Everywhere you look, there are people laughing, dancing, and indulging in the joy of the moment.
Pablo leads you to a clearing in the center of the fairgrounds, where a makeshift dance floor has been set up beneath a canopy of twinkling lights. Without hesitation, he pulls you into his arms, his movements fluid and confident as he guides you through the steps of the traditional Sevillanas dance.
At first, you stumble and falter, your feet awkward and unsure. But with Pablo's patient guidance, you soon find your rhythm, your body moving in harmony with his. Together, you whirl and spin across the dance floor, lost in the magic of the moment.
As the night wears on, Pablo takes you on a whirlwind tour of La Feria, introducing you to his friends and family, and sharing with you the rich history and traditions of the festival. You listen intently, hanging on his every word, captivated by the passion and pride in his voice.
Pablo's sister, Aurora, appears beside you with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "Come, mi amiga," she says, her voice filled with excitement. "I have something for you."
Curious, you follow Aurora through the throngs of people, until you reach a small tent adorned with colorful fabrics and sparkling trinkets. Inside, she rummages through a pile of dresses until she emerges triumphant, holding out a flamenco dress with a flourish.
"It's for you," Aurora declares, her smile infectious. "Try it on."
You hesitate, feeling a rush of nerves at the thought of wearing such a beautiful garment. But Aurora's encouragement is infectious, and before you know it, you find yourself slipping into the dress, the fabric cool against your skin as it cascades down your body in a riot of ruffles and lace.
As you step out of the dressing tent, Aurora's eyes widen in delight, her applause mingling with the cheers of the crowd. "You look stunning!" she exclaims, her voice ringing out over the music. "Like a true Sevillana!"
Pablo appears at your side, his gaze soft with admiration as he takes in the sight of you in the flamenco dress. "You are even more beautiful than I imagined," he whispers, his words sending a shiver down your spine.
As the night at La Feria de Sevilla begins to wind down, Pablo suggests taking a stroll along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. The air is filled with the sweet scent of orange blossoms, and the distant sound of music drifts through the night, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.
Hand in hand, you follow Pablo as he leads you away from the fairgrounds and towards the river, the cobblestone streets bathed in the soft glow of lanterns. The twinkling lights reflected in the waters of the Guadalquivir create a mesmerizing sight, casting a magical spell over the night.
As you walk, you share intimate conversations about your hopes, dreams, and aspirations, each word spoken with a tenderness that fills the air with warmth. Pablo listens attentively as you speak, his eyes fixed on yours with an intensity that makes your heart skip a beat.
With a tender smile, Pablo takes your hands in his, his gaze filled with warmth and affection.
"I love you," Pablo whispers, his voice barely more than a breath against your skin.
Tears well up in your eyes at his confession, overwhelmed by the depth of emotion in his words. Without hesitation, you throw your arms around him, pulling him close as you press your lips to his in a sweet, lingering kiss.
In that moment, surrounded by the magic of La Feria and the soft embrace of the night, you know that you have found something truly special—a love that transcends time and distance, a love that fills your heart to overflowing.
"I love you too, Pablo," you whisper against his lips, your voice filled with tenderness and joy. "More than words can say."

Seeing what my sister knows about the Mechanisms - Spoilers: Not enough
I love my sister, I do. She lets me rant to her about the Mechanisms 24/7. But the real question is whether or not she pays attention to what I say. I decided to quiz her and see how much she retains from our conversations <3
DTTM Spoilers/Talk
Starting off with everyone's favorite Captain First Mate!
Name: Jonny d'Ville | Mechanism: Blood | Role: Master at Arms
"He's cool I guess"
Not really surprised by her response to him, nor am I shocked she got his Mechanism wrong since when I first asked her to do this, she was like "I only know three of them. Jonny d'Ville, Nastya Rasputina, and Jonny Sims" and I had to remind her that two of those were the same person. Speaking of Nastya Rasputina!
Name: Nastya Rasputina | Mechanism: Lungs | Role: Pilot
"My favorite" Proceeded to give a thumbs up.
As I taught her, Nastya is best girl and deserves the whole world. I am rather shocked she got her Mechanism wrong as I once word vomited to her about mercury poisoning when I was plotting for a Nastya-centric fic, but its okay. Next up is Ashes!
Name: Ashes O'Reilly | Mechanism: Eyes | Role: Quartermaster
"They're cool, I like them"
Used the wrong pronouns but immediately realized and corrected herself before I had to so that's a win that she paid attention there. (We stan an ally <3) I talk about Ashes so much so I'm surprised that she got their Mechanism wrong but its okay, I still love her. Now to an Archivist who actually knows how to do her job (this is S1 Jon Sims slander, I am not sorry, he did not know what he was doing)
Name: Ivy Alexandria | Mechanism: Brain | Role: ????
"I don't really know...Ivy I guess is cool."
I don't talk about Ivy as much as I should, which I really should change because Ivy is amazing. When asked about why she was '????' she just went "I don't know...she has those vibes." which is 100% understandable. Time for the drumbot himself!
Name: Drumbot Brian | Mechanism: All but Heart | Role: Engineer
"Cool."
How does she not have more to say about him? He's been the focus of my rants since I got home from Uni on Sunday and all she has to say is 'cool'. Engineer is at least the closest she could get to Pilot, but I'm still a bit disappointed she didn't get all the answers right. On to her...absolute favorite, TS.
Name: Toy Soldier | Mechanism: All but Voice | Role: Archivist
"The Toy Soldier is the best character and there's no doubt about that."
Her answer came so quickly after I asked her how she felt about TS, I honestly can't say I'm surprised though. She thinks it's a silly little creature. Now to the man that I'm like 100% sure she has a love/hate relationship with, Tim.
Name: Gunpowder Tim | Mechanism: Heart | Role: First Mate
"Cool."
Once again, really confused about how she doesn't have more to say about him. He's literally carrying a huge gun so like, a tad confused on my she didn't think he was Master at Arms, but its alright. Funnily enough, she got the next two completely right, starting with Marius.
Name: Marius von Raum | Mechanism: Arm | Role: Doctor
"His arm is cool."
Applause for her getting everything correct. I force her to listen to The Wassailant in the car. There is no surprise she got his stuff right because I talk about Kofi, and by default Marius, so often. And finally, last but not least, Raphaella <3
Name: Raphaella la Cognizi | Mechanism: Wings | Role: Science Officer
"Just take off the wings and she'd be cooler. Just saying."
The disappointment when she said that was at its peak. I cannot believe that she would say that about the Raphaella la Cognizi and I will be making sure she changes her ways.
I'm not too surprised with Nastya and TS being her favorites, seeing as I talked about them most when I first got into Mechs, but the Raph slander was absolutely uncalled for </3
I also asked her some lore questions.
Q: What is the ship’s name? | A: Aurora
Q: Who is dating the starship, The Aurora? | A: Jonny
Q: Which Mechanism Mechanized themself? | A: Nastya
Q: Who was the first Mechanism? | A: Jonny
Q: Who were the last two Mechanisms to join the crew? | A: Marius and Ivy
Q: Who was the first Mechanism to die/leave the crew? | A: Tim
Q: Who was the last Mechanism to die, timeline-wise? | A: Jonny
Q: Which Mechanism died by death by Octokittens? | A: Brian
Q: Which Mechanism has a morality switch? | A: Brian
Q: Who had a ‘best friend’ named Bertie? | A: Jonny
Q: Which one is an arsonist? | A: Raphaella
Q: Which one blew up the moon? | A: Tim
Q: Which one is a cannibal? | A: Marius
All in all, somewhat disappointed in my ability to get this cemented into her brain </3 Glad she at least was able to match names to faces so I'm at least showing her enough photos of them, but I will definitely start talking to her about Mechs lore more because she needs to know and understand it all.
I will still say that a success is convincing her and my mom to do matching Life360 photos with the most iconic sibling duo and their mother <3

Firen Lhain: Chapter 604: Four: Part I/III
Dong Han handed out the last of letters-patent and Nora saluted him. The collection of bureaucrats held a round of applause. "You have all fought admirably! You have well earned your status of Huntsmen and Huntresses. Now, before we depart, is there anything we can do to help you?!"
"A lot -" Qrow stated, "of wine."
"You have certainly earned an evening of repose." Dong Han stated, "I would ask your preferences, but since this is your first legal drink..."
"I could provide details of their pallets." Aurora stated.
"Since when?" Yang asked.
"I have watched you all react to the cuisine."
"What, really?" Yang asked.
"Your pallet for cuisine is complimentary to your pallet for wine." Aurora added.
"Sweet." Yang said.
"You don't know how happy I am," Qrow voiced, "to finally be drinking with my nieces."
"I suppose..." Blake voiced, "drinking is important to you."
"That's.... one of of saying it..." Qrow voiced, as Aurora walked up to Dong Han.
* * * Aurora stood in front the table that seemed to have every order of wine, with a bright smile upon her face. "I would ask you all to allow me to be your somelier tonight."
"And?.." Yang asked, "for those who don't know what it is?.."
"Wine stewart." Jaune stated.
"Oh, yeah, you're the boss." Yang said, and then narrowed her eyes, "Maybe not the best way to say that."
A burst of rose petals appeared in front of Yang, and Ruby then walked towards Aurora, "We all know who you want to be the boss." Ruby chided.
Yang instictively tensed up and then breathed out to relax. "In light of the party, I'll overlook you budging in line."
Ruby then turned around to stick her tongue out at Yang.
* * *
Jaune sat on the couch as Yang flopped down beside him. RWB looking at her jealously. "Alright, in light of us finally making it, what with us all back together and finally being Huntsmen and all..." she said, and everyone was paying rapt attention to her. "...I say we come up with new nicknames!"
"Hm?" Weiss asked.
"Or you're saying you like being known as an Ice Queen?" Yang asked her, and she lightly scoffed, turning a light blue hue.
"Snow Angel." Jaune stated.
"Oh, I've got one better." Yang stated, "Guess what he called me?"
"What?" Jaune asked.
"Summer Princess." Yang said with glee. "Eat that, Snow Angel."
"If you are the Summer Princess." Blake voiced, "That should make Weiss the Winter Princess."
"Shit..." Yang voiced, "That's good... But still..."
"Hoping to be his only princess?" Blake asked.
"...maybe?.." Yang asked.
"Fall," Jaune said, pointing at Ruby, "Spring." he said, pointing at Blake.
"Why am I spring?" Blake asked him.
"Because you seem dour and depressive, but are probably the most passionate person here." Jaune added. Blake nervously looked down and blushed and smiled.
"What about me?!" Ruby eagerly asked.
"You are bubbly and adorable, and pretty much hope incarnate." Jaune said, and Ruby swooned. "Aanndd..." Jaune said, causing her to stare at him with bated breath, "your primary weapon is a scythe, which is designed to decapitate giant Grimm in a single swing."
"She is pretty cool like that." Yang added, and Qrow added an affirmative hmph.
Nora raised her hand, "What's my nickname?"
"You can be NORA." Qrow stated, "It's easy to remember because it sounds like your name."
"I like it." Nora added.
"We can't exactly call everyone princess..." Weiss stated.
"We could keep calling you Ice Queen," Yang voiced, "as it seems to melt your heart every time we say it."
Weiss nervously looked about, unsure of what to say. Her light blue tone deepened, however, proving she was at the very least enjoying it.
"Blake can be kitty-cat." Yang stated.
"But, what if I?.." Blake tried to ask.
"No." Jaune stated, "You're not going back to wearing your bow. We just got you to finally accept who you are; you aren't going back."
Yang shuddered as he said this. "I LOVED how he said that."
"Are you saying that Blake can't wear a bow?" Nora asked.
"Well, yes," Jaune said, "she can wear a bow, just not over her ears."
"That makes sense." Nora stated.
"And," Weiss asked, "just because Jaune says it, that's good enough for you?" she asked, and Nora nodded. Weiss sat back, hands together in front of her face, unsure of how to respond to that.
Jaune then looked at Yang, "You can be goldilocks." he stated, and reached for her hair. Her hand caught his and her eyes started to glow. "Are you going to use your Semblance on me for touching your hair?" he asked her, and Yang stared at him, glared at him. Her breathing was haggard as she looked at him, stunned, completely unsure of what to say. She let go of his hand and it slowly started moving towards her hair once again. Her breathing deep, and her eyes still glew, but she made no move to stop it. "It's - so - beautiful..." he said, and she seemed to slip back to normalcy as he delicatedly lifted it.
"She does spend a LOT of time on it." Blake stated.
"Doesn't make it any less beautiful." Jaune said, daintily touching Yang's hair, looking her in the eyes. The two simply stared at each other.
A burst of rose petals stopped in front of Jaune. "Don't fall for her feminine wiles!"
Yang shook her head before turning to look at her sister, "More like babelicious wiles."
"Yeah, whatever!" Ruby shouted.
"Ruby..." Weiss admonished her.
"But..." Ruby said to her, pointing at Jaune.
"We all have our chance." Weiss continued.
"But?" Ruby asked, and then visibly sighed.
"Ruby?" Jaune said to her, and she looked up at him. "I'm not falling for her feminine wiles." he voiced, and then looked at Yang, "Babelicious wiles." He then looked at Ruby.
"But?.." Ruby asked, "Googly eyes!"
"If you've been paying attention," Blake voiced, "he's been making googly eyes at all of us."
"He has?" Ruby asked, and Jaune sighed. He took another sip of his wine and handed it to Yang, whom leaned forward to put it on the coffee table.
"You can't seduce him," Nora stated.
"As he's already seduced." Ren added.
"Is that true?" Ruby asked him.
Jaune breathed in deeply before replying, "If I pick one of you, I'm hurting the other three." A pregnant pause followed, as they all traded deep looks between each other. "That's why it doesn't matter how much you seduce me; I can't hurt the rest of you." Another pregnant pause followed.
"I see what you said..." Oscar whispered to Qrow.
"They need to work this out on their own..." Qrow whispered back, "but I could use some more wine." he said, and stood up, walking over to Aurora.
"But!" Ruby shouted at him, "I - love - you!"
Yang quickly reached over to grab Jaune's hand. "Uh-un." Yang said to her, "No you don't, sis."
"We can't fight over him." Blake stated.
"Then," Ren added, "you will need to resolve this diplomatically."
"You guys are way too important to me," Jaune said to them, "to pick between you."
"Then?" Yang asked, "How about this? He doesn't pick."
Weiss immediately scoffed, Blake made no visible response at all, and Ruby just stared at her sister.
"But?.." Ruby asked, "If he doesn't pick, how do we know who won?!"
"You dolt." Weiss stated, and grabbed Ruby's hand. The two momentarily got lost in each other's eyes. "We'll all be winning." Weiss said to her.
"Wait, what?" Ruby asked.
"We'd be his concubines," Blake stated, "or handmaidens, or something."
Jaune looked around between the four. "I'm... not getting any objections?" he asked, and the four started looking between each other. He then looked to Weiss, "Ice Queen?"
"I thought I was your Snow Angel?" she asked.
"But wait, there's more," Yang said, and stood up, "by doing this, we get each other as well, and I have to say you girls give me a ladyboner. Weiss, I 100% see what Jaune sees in you, and Blake..." Yang said, and the two just locked eyes and stared.
"What about me?" Ruby asked, and Jaune reached forward, pulling her into his lap. He then wrapped his arms around her.
"How do you feel?" he whispered into her ear.
"I really don't know... I mean..."
"I've seen you kiss Weiss..." Jaune voiced, "How did it feel?"
"Like everything I thought it would..." she uttered.
"And how do you feel about Blake?" Jaune voiced.
"I don't know..." Ruby said as she looked at Blake, "I mean, Blake's always been really quiet... and cute... and adorable... and the ears... are even more adorable..."
"I know." Jaune said, which echoed about the dead-silent lounge.
"What about kissing Yang?" Nora asked. Ren reached around her and pulled her into a hug.
"Let's find out." Jaune said, and shifted Ruby to look towards her sister.
"What does that m..." Yang asked, but got lost in Jaune's eyes. Jaune grabbed her hand and pulled her towards them. He pulled Yang in and pushed Ruby towards her, and they stared into each other's eyes and they slowly moved together. When they reached each other the two kissed for a moment before pausing, and paused a moment before pulling away.
"What was that?" Ruby and Yang asked at the same time, still looking in each other's eyes.
* * *
Ren and Nora sat on a bed, looking into each other's eyes. "You are a Huntress," Ren soulfully said to her, "I am a Huntsman... do you know what this means?" he asked, and Nora could not reply, "It means I no longer have to hold back." He then gently leaned into Nora and gently kissed her on the lips.

Chapter Reviews: May 7-11, 2019
Wishful Thinking Chapter 5: I have to admit that I'm frustrated at this story not addressing Ellen properly. Every time she shows up, it's to tear her down without actually getting to know her. Sure this story's okay because of some interviews I like, such as with Tilly and the library, but can I talk about how unbearable Alec is? And not to mention that Carmichael's awfully shady.
I think it has become obvious that Aubrey's a creep forced on us. Like, I'm not planning to romance him, yet he always wonders whether or not I'll reciprocate his feelings. I need to have a chat with him ASAP. And how does talking with Aubrey's sister and niece improve the MC's journalism career?
Apparently Ellen suspects the MC of a secret and is out to investigate it, eh? Well, I hope it gives me a chance to discuss her issues, especially on her pride. This story's starting to shape the MC into a Mary Sue, and I don't like it.
Across the Void Chapter 21: I'm surprised Cyber is empty because everyone evacuated, or so it seemed. I'm still suspicious on the people, however. Especially the Elara siblings' parents, who apparently worked on Cyber's secret weapon and kept it a secret. I wonder whether or not they wanted to prevent unnecessary panic, but I feel like they should've told their kids sooner.
Anyway, now that my MC has hooked up with Sol (while Pax and Eos don't get to hook up), I'm nervous to see how the showdown with the Void will turn out.
High School Story: Class Act Chapter 13: Well, that was a relaxing chapter, though it's no saying much because I'm ready for the election drama to end. It's boring me. I need more time with Skye, who's barely around, and her story's still ongoing.
Since when did Rory propose to have the abandoned building turned into a greenhouse? Was it in a premium option I missed? Either way, this book's boring me so much that a part of me doesn't want to care.
Nightbound Chapter 4: Man, this story captivated me even more. I get to meet another Nighthunter in the form of Katherine, who seems interesting even though I didn't pick the premium option to pursue her. I was worried for Cal and his brother Donny, especially when it's revealed that he has a massive gambling debt, and he had to duel against a minotaur to pay off the debt. I have a bigger respect for Cal than before when he chose to duel in his brother's place. I may not say much about this chapter, but I'm excited for more.
Is it just me, or does male MC's premium outfit look like the one Peter Graves wore during the actual heist? I think it's funny, considering that I miss The Heist: Monaco, and I really need enough diamonds to recruit some members I couldn't afford during my first run.
Passport to Romance Chapter 9: I have the urge to punch Tristao for breaking Marisa's heart. She doesn't deserve such a rude awakening during her own birthday. Yet at the same time, I feel like I've only seen one side of her and Tristao's relationship. Sure he's no saint, but I feel like Marisa herself didn't give him enough attention.
Again, Sumire has proven to be the MVP of this story. If it wasn't for her getting to know Psyclop and sketching how he might look like underneath his mask, the vlog's views would stagnate. It may be a premium option, but that's proof that she's the most reliable person among the gang.
It was funny to see Ahmed wearing Psyclop's mask to avoid his rabid fangirls. I cringed when one of them said she kept a shirtless picture of him. Definitely the kind of person I should avoid. Marisa's speech on them fawning over someone who doesn't love them back is badass.
One thing that caught my attention when playing this chapter is that it divides the attention between Marisa and Ahmed instead of mainly focusing on Marisa. It's different from the Lucerne chapters, where Elliot gets undivided attention. That's proof that Elliot is indeed favored by the writers while the others were crammed in. Bah!
Since the next chapter is about Ahmed preparing for his soccer match, I wonder why he spends much of the time clubbing instead of preparing. Anyway, he better not be late.
Open Heart Chapter 13: This is one tense chapter, and I love it. First of all, I was shocked to see that Ethan has resigned. That wouldn't feel right for Edenbrook, given that he's one of the best doctors. Either way, I hope he makes a comeback to the scene.
I don't mind working with Aurora. In fact, she's undoubtedly a capable doctor, and it was nice to see her and the MC working together on Tommy's case despite their initial hostility. My favorite part was when they contributed equally to the diagnosis. I knew she's ultimately innocent, but I also want to understand her better. She's been established as a complex character since her debut (case in point, her irritation when people talked about her aunt), and from her sarcastic way of "congratulating" the MC, I think she handed Dolores to the MC in order to move the MC up in the rankings. I'm not saying it's a sympathetic move, but one that makes sense. After all, it's already too late to assume she's one-dimensional since her debut.
So Landry's the snitch who told Mrs. Martinez's family that the MC treated her, eh? Well, I'm not surprised because of his objection. I still wonder whether or not he sabotaged the MC's pager. There's still more to him than just this moment. I mean, we still don't know his motivations, and he has to answer for everything he has done.
The Elementalists Chapter 9: I enjoy this chapter a lot. Visting Kane and flirting with him was fun, and it was nice to get another spell from him. I managed to impress him, which led him to reveal more info on Theia. What's even more awesome is the fight between Kane and Alma when the latter barged to the former's hideout with Penderghast's faculty with her. I also have to give a round of applause to the Pend Pals for looking after one another and the MC.
One of the things I like about this chapter is whether siding with Alma and Kane will affect the MC's morality. Honestly, they're both untrustworthy. After all, I still have little info from Alma so far, so she could be hiding an ulterior motive. Not to mention that she generally doesn't care much about humanity's condition and is more concerned with bringing Kane to the fold. So far, I sided with her, but it's still not a final decision. I need to figure out how my MC would react first.

A Game of Hearts - Chapter One: Unveiled (The Royal Romance AU)
Pairing: Drake x MC [Liam x MC]
Notes: Firstly, thanks to everyone who read the prologue and left lovely comments! This is chapter one to my TRR AU series, A Game of Hearts. Apparently I can’t write in a linear timeline so this story will contain a lot of flashbacks throughout the chapters. Again, english is not my native language so I apologize if there’s any mistakes, and I would love to know what you think!
I do not own these characters, they belong to Pixelberry.
Summary: Princess Sapphire struggles in her heart as she takes the next step towards fulfilling her duty to the kingdom. A dark secret threatens to be revealed in the castle.

Prologue: Promised
Chapter One: Unveiled
Sophie sits in the dresser inside her chambers staring at the mirror, ink on her fingers, eyes narrowed.
“Does it look symmetrical?” she asks, examining both sides of her face in the mirror, trying to find imperfections on the golden pattern she drew right beneath her eyes.
“Does it matter?” her cousin snaps back.
“Max…” the princess sighs, controlling her irritation “you know you can tell me what’s wrong instead of taking it out on me.” She turns around and looks at his cousin, sitted in her settee.
“I’m sorry, I’m just… tired of all this, I think.” He motions to his own painted face and formal clothes.
“What?” the young woman brings her hand to her chest in mock surprise “Are you telling me Lord Maxwell is tired of parties?” She jokes, but in reality she‘s worried about him. Ever since his parents died and his brother became the representant of his family in the council of holders, he’s out of place. The joyful boy, her best friend, has been quieter than ever in the last months, and nothing she would do or say seems to help.
“It’s not about the festivities, it’s about the protocols, celebrations and everything else we do here like war isn’t unfolding right outside our door for the past century.” Max’s balls his fists as he tries to contain his anger.
Sophie closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She really doesn’t want to argue with him about this. Not today.
“I’m sorry Sophie. I didn’t intend to darken the mood on your birthday.” He forces a smile “Your face is magnificent, as always.” His tone has gone back to normal, cheerful. Although the smile he wears doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “So, you’re 21. Does that mean you’ll finally get introduced to the people?”
“No.” She replies, resent in her voice. “The king thinks it’s wise to keep me unseen until I’m married. Today only means I’ll get formally engaged.”
“What?” Max’s voice reaches a high pitch. “Why didn’t I know about this?”
“Because it changes nothing. I’ve been betrothed all my life, remember?” She looks up at him, annoying look in her eyes.
“Not this, I mean” Max started, “are people supposed to meet you only when you’re their queen?” The crease between his brows appears again, making his dissatisfaction obvious.
“I don’t agree with this as much as I don’t agree with this war.” Her eyes turned serious “But I am powerless for now, and it’s not like I can stage a riot here, not now that there’s this new evil queen in the south.”
“Well” the young man recomposes himself, standing up from the settee, “we can dwell on never-ending wars and evil queens in another time. For now,” he walks to stand behind the princess, resting his hands on her shoulders and locking eyes with her through the mirror in front of them “we have an engagement to attend to.”
The girl nods at him before closing her eyes and taking a long breath.
-
As she is escorted from her chambers, Sophie can’t fathom her own nervousness. She is betrothed to Liam since she can remember. This is only a formality, after all. So why is she dreading every step that draws her closer to the hall where the ceremony is taking place, closer to being engaged?
She lets her mind wander to when she was just a little girl, dreaming of marrying not just a prince, but Prince William of the East. How happy she was when she got to meet him and spend time with him, how badly she wanted him to like her. In her young girl’s mind, he was perfect. As she goes down the staircase to the main hall of the castle, she chuckles to herself. He isn’t far from perfect, really. He’s handsome, strong and gentle, and truly cares for her.
Her father, King Brandon, is waiting for her at the end of the staircase. The black ink in his forehead and temples does a good job of masking the wrinkles that have now accentuated in his face. He smiles when he sees her. “You look so much like your mother.” She smiles too. She wishes so badly her mom was there. Queen Aurora would definitely know what to say to make her feel better.
She walks to the middle of the hall held in her father's arm. The room seems empty, in comparison to how crowded it gets during open events. There is basically their families and the castle staff. She looks around to see if there’s someone new, as she never really gets to meet much people. In that moment she thinks about her friends, the ones she had when she was younger, about a decade ago. It would be nice having friends other than Max. And Liam, she supposes. What would Hana and Drake look like today? It has been years since she thought about them, although sometimes Liam talks about Drake, so she supposes he is still living at Thorngate Castle.
Her thoughts are interrupted when Liam comes out from the small crowd surrounding them. As he walks up to her she can’t help but admire the way his dark-blue coat fits perfectly in his muscled torso and how a single, thick line of black ink that comes from each side of his head to his temples accentuates his determined gaze.
Only in his mind he knows how nervous he is, but on the outside he can look so confident all the time that no one would never doubt him. And he would never let anyone know how vulnerable he can be, well, anyone but Drake. His selfish side wants to be angry at his best friend for not being here, but he knows Drake is doing the right thing looking for his sister. The other side of him feels bad for not being able to be there for his friend after Savannah disappeared a couple of weeks ago. He can’t follow Drake looking for her, but at least his father gave him the liberty of sending some of his guards with him.
Liam shakes his thoughts away and stops in front of the princess. His breath catches when he looks at her, the most beautiful woman he ever laid eyes upon. Her light-brown hair falls in modest curls over her shoulders, covered by a sleeved rose dress that falls down to her feet. He can’t remember the last time he saw her in a dress, and it sure makes her look somewhat fragile, but he knows better than that. Princess Sapphire is anything but fragile.
He knows this is an arranged marriage, but he can’t help but thank the Last Prophets in his mind for promising her to him. As far as he knows, he has done nothing to deserve who he reckons to be the most incredible woman in the new world. Would she ever let him in completely? He never told her, but he can tell there are things in her mind that she doesn’t share with him. And that’s what he wants her to know, that he is in for all of her, ready to love her entirely.
He kneels in front of her, taking one of her hands in his own and placing the ring in it with his other hand. She places her other hand in his and they hold each other’s hands like that. “Accept this, not only as a birthday present, but as a symbol of our commitment to unite our lives in one, as well as our kingdoms in one.” He recites, staring directly in her eyes.
She forces herself to smile. It isn’t hard, looking into his blue eyes, overflowing with joy to see her hearing these words from him. She feels guilty her eyes wouldn’t shine for him the same way. But she convinces herself she will love him, she can do it. He deserves to be loved, and right then, staring into his eyes, she swears to herself that with time, she will learn to give him her soul. And they will be each other's strength in the challenge that awaited them ever since they were born.
He stands and places the ring on her finger. She looks up at him, they both know what to do next. They lean into each other and their lips meet in the middle, followed by a round of applause from the crowd.
It’s a ceremonial kiss, unlike the ones they have shared previously. Not that they’ve kissed too many times, but Sophie’s favourite one occurred two years ago, when he came in the library while she read a book from before.
The prince knows where to find her. He’s so happy he gets to surprise her, for it’s been almost a month since he last came to Stormholt castle. Though the trip from Thorngate lasted barely an hour with their new, more efficient cars, now that he’s of age, his several new duties kept him in the East, unable to take a break. He walks through tall wooden doors into the outstanding library - it would be completely ordinary if it wasn’t for Princess Sapphire. She’s probably the only one that comes here these days, and he’s sure also the only one to have read all the books retrieved from before and stored in the castle. The library is large, with books covering three of its four walls, in shelves that go up to the roof, about five meters high.
As he guessed, she’s sitted in a brown divan in the middle of the library, eyes fixated in a book in her lap.
“Let me guess. Third time reading that one?” His voice startles her, and she smiles when she spots him walking in her direction.
“Liam! You actually managed to scare me, because really, nobody comes here.”
“Then, my goals have been achieved. Surprise!” She laughs, staring at his handsome figure walking towards her.
Liam gazes at the pile of books on the table beside the princess. The horse-shaped figure on top of the books fills him with nostalgia and he smiles. He takes a step closer to grasp the chess piece in his hand. Sophie follows his every move with her eyes.
“I used to find it funny... you being the knight, you know. In my mind, you were always the queen.” He looks up at her warm eyes, smiling at him. “Though it would be right for you to be the king, the crucial one, always protected... you always managed to take the lead.” He puts the piece back on the pile and moves to sit in front of her, taking both her hands from the heavy looking book in her lap, to hold them in his. “Besides,” he continues, bringing her hands to his mouth to kiss each one, softly “you are the most talented person in this entire kingdom.”
He lets go of her hands and she takes the book in her lap, placing it in the table and shifting so she can sit upright. “What have I done to earn such lovely and profound words?” the young woman brings one hand up to touch the side of his face and flashes him a genuine smile. It was rare to see him carefree like that, and she really enjoys it.
Liam feels confident, for that smile of hers was always a hard one to get. “Oh,” he smirks mischievously at her “you haven’t done anything. You’re in debt to me now.”
“Is that so?” she joins his playful tone “Then pray tell me what I owe you so I can change that.”
“A kiss” he stares at her, hoping he doesn't sound desperate.
She feels her body suddenly warm at his directness as she peers into his blue, intense eyes. She sees desire in them, and her own reflection. Instinctively, she leans closer to him, hand still in the side of his face when their mouths join together. Liam’s hand press in her back, pulling her even closer to him.
He pulls back to look at her again “I see why you’re the knight though.”
“Why, now?” she giggles.
“Because” he almost whispers, his breath on her lips “the knight can make moves that even the queen cannot.” Before she can say anything, his lips are back on hers, and the sweet kiss turns into a very passionate one.
After a while, Sophie finds herself lying on her back, Liam on top of her, mouths never leaving one another, bodies pressed together. Her hands pull slightly on his dark blonde hair when, suddenly, he pulls back and stands up. Confused, she sits up and stares at him. “What is it?”
She regards his face. The playful, carefree Liam is gone, only a sober, slightly sad look on his eyes now. “I- I’m sorry, Sophie. I didn’t mean to…” his cheeks blush. He doesn't know whether to curse his heart or his consciousness for what just happened. He really wishes they weren’t so conflicted.
“Liam,” she stood up to look into his eyes, placing her hands on his shoulders “there is no problem.” You wouldn’t be my first, she wants to add, but doesn’t. The righteous Prince William would never make love to her before they are officially together, especially not out here in a library. She knows that, and it makes her feel once again unworthy of him. No, she cannot tell him about her teenage adventures with a couple of young guards from the castle. Although it never meant anything, it would only disappoint him and break his heart.
The newly engaged couple part and they both regard the people around them, trained smiles on. Now, it’s time to feist.
-
Sophie sits in the end of a big stone table in the main hall of the castle. Liam sits beside her and Max next to them, in the side of the table. Behind them, in the back of the hall where the floor rises two steps above, stands the throne, which King Brandon occupies. The identical chair beside him, where Queen Aurora once seated, stands empty. Even now, almost seven years from the queen’s death, the sight of the king, sunken on a chair that seems to grow bigger day by day on contrast with his undermining frame, inspires grief in anyone who observes the empty place beside him.
At least during festivities such as this, the sounds of cheerful talk and clinking plates and cups fill the hall with lightness and joy. Sophie sips ale from her third cup of the night as she absently listens to Max, who is talking to Liam while stealing some bites from his lamb meat. “... no, that was the proposition Lady Olivia suggested me the other night in Thorngate Castle.”
“Wait.” The princess coughs after almost choking with her drink “Are you talking about Lady Olivia as in… Liv? From when we were children?” She looks up at Liam, who is now sitting closer than she remembers, with one arm stretched across the back of her seat.
“Yes” he replies with a smile. His eyes are sleepy and his cheeks are flushed. Looks like he’s had his good share of ale, but he’s allowed it, she thinks, after all it’s his engagement they are celebrating. Plus, it always warms her heart to see him light-hearted and happy.
“‘Does she still live with you in Thorngate?” The princess asks, looking at Liam.
“She went back to her family’s castle when she came of age last year.” Max tells her, having finally finished eating and cleaning his hands in a towel. “But that’s still in the east, so…”
“You haven’t talked about her in years!”
“Sophie, we…” Max turns his whole body towards her and takes her hand is his both. “We don’t talk much about the people we meet outside this castle because you… well, you have to stay here. And we don’t want you to feel bad.” His eyes are on her, cautious.
“Thank you” she says, gazing each one of the men, “but I want to know what happens in the kingdom that I will eventually rule, even if I can’t be there.”
“That can be arranged.” Liam says slowly, nodding at her.
Sophie is so focused on the conversation with the two men that it takes a few moments for her to hear the change in the ambient noise. It starts with distant voices slowly raising their volumes, eventually she can discern screaming and turns to look at whatever is taking place. Then, the next events occur all too fast.
A woman, covered in dirt and blood, tottering towards the king while everyone around her distance themselves. Her hair is damp, the princess can’t tell if it’s from water or blood. There are red and black stains all over the woman’s clothes.
Without thinking about it, Sophie’s feet carries her through the crowd, eyes fixated on the weak looking figure. Suddenly there’s a cutting sound and the woman drops to the ground. Sophie finally gets to front of the small crowd and runs to kneel beside the woman, her movements almost automatic. An arrow is jabbed through the woman’s back. The princess reaches down to check if there’s anything she can do to help but realizes the woman is dead.
Confused and shocked, she raises her head and looks around, only to glimpse a man in a guard uniform with a bow in his hand, which she assumes is the one that shot the arrow. Everyone else is just staring at her. She wants to scream but her voice falters, why isn’t anyone doing something? However, before she manages to catch enough air in her lungs, her vision is suddenly blocked by the legs of another guard which appear in front of her, and the feel of his hands holding her by her shoulders and carrying her away.

King of Anything
This one was just... it was a very clear image when I listened to the song. It still is, tbh, every single time.
The twins just. really are like that. They’re sixteen and have no shame.
(Keone is basically their tour guide in this city, ze’s genderfluid and Aurora has a massive crush)
~
Arlette passed her empty plate across to the waitress with a smile before settling back, clasping her cup between her hands.
“So you’re saying – your performance, day before yesterday – that’s actually how you make money?” Keone asked, leaning forward now the table in front of zir was cleared.
Aurora grinned nodding. “Yeah, sure. I mean – currently it’s just like that, busking – we juggle and dance and sing, too – but to actually hit it on a stage would be so neat.”
“Plus you have your instruments, too.” Keone smiled, dipping zir eyes as ze took a drink. “That’s so neat, you know what you want to do.”
“Uh–” Aurora blinked, almost stuttering.
Arlette smirked. “Well, it’s kinda like a work in progress? By which I mean we’re totally making it up as we go along.”
“Yeah. That.”
Arlette glanced up at her sister, laughter in her eyes. Aurora kicked her under the table.
“I’m just saying is all. Don’t see many ladies like yourself in our profession.” The man’s voice broke in from behind them, loud and clear.
“It’s… we’re in gardening. It’s stereotypically–”
The twins exchanged a glance, and Arlette raised an eyebrow.
“Oh no, it’s much more than that, don’t you see? We’re cultivating a whole experience for anyone who stops to savour it. This is complicated science.”
Aurora twisted to see the table, just the other side of a railing from them.
The couple were sitting in profile to them, the woman with her arms folded and looking spectacularly unimpressed as the man leant forward, hands up to demonstrate something.
“I know, and back home we–”
Aurora looked back to her sister and thumbed at the woman, raising an eyebrow.
Arlette squinted and then nodded, ever so slightly.
“Oh yes, you aren’t even from here! You must let me show you around, we have some splendid flowers for you to take cuttings from.”
Aurora smirked, as she pushed her chair back up against the table, pulling her phone out to send a message.
“What are you doing?” Keone glanced between them.
“A flash performance,” Arlette said. “Be right back.” She stood carefully and made her way to the counter.
“I imagine it’s far different from anything you might have seen before, yes?” The man hadn’t stopped talking.
“See we have our licence for performing in the streets, but coffee shops are a little different.” Aurora put her phone away as she pulled her bag up onto the seat beside her, sorting through it.
The woman’s phone let out a chime, and she checked it. “Sorry, I’m expecting my girlfriend–” She cut off, frowning at the screen. Then she looked up and around, tapping out a reply.
“You’re just going to – do what?” Keone was frowning, one eyebrow slightly raised.
“You’ll see.” Arlette grinned, taking her seat opposite her sister again. “Ready?”
Aurora’s phone chimed and she checked it briefly before nodding and pulling out a tacky plastic crown.
“Do – do you just always have your stuff on you?” Keone shook zir head.
“Always prepared.” Aurora smirked.
“You go.” Arlette gestured at her. “Get the note right.”
“Oh.” Aurora slapped her hands lightly on the table, at a volume clearly meant to carry through the whole coffee shop.
“Oh.” Arlette echoed her, on a different note.
“Oh?” Alé looked between them.
At a different table, Warren looked up and then ducked his head. “Oh.”
Nyx looked up as well as Arlette leant back, tapping her fingers against the railing behind her.
At a different table again, as Aurora and Arlette continued the introduction to their song, Zlata and Ryun watched, with Hohen in the seat between them and Soise idly swinging on the chair beside them.
“Keep drinkin’ coffee stare me down across the table,” Aurora sang out, leaning forward to stare her sister down, “While I look outside.” She turned her sister’s head to look out the window, beyond a few tables. “So many things I’d say if only I were able,” she continued, letting go and pushing her chair back, “But I just keep quiet and count the cars that pass by.” She tapped her finger through the air, as if counting something.
The cafe around them had fallen silent, the customers turning to watch them.
“You’ve got opinions, man? We’re all entitled to ‘em.” Aurora stood, slamming her palms into the table.
Keone grabbed zir cup back before it could be upset, shrinking down in zir seat.
“But I never asked.” She swung her coat up onto her shoulder. “So let me thank you for your time,” she stepped away from their table and up beside the couple next to them, “And try not to waste any more of mine.”
The woman looked up, frowning at Aurora. “Are you–”
Aurora smirked, grabbing her forearm. “Get out of here fast.” She gently tugged the woman out of her seat, and the woman followed easily, smiling slightly.
“Hey, if you don’t–” The man frowned and reached out as if to stop her.
Arlette slapped his hand down with a rolled up piece of paper, suddenly sitting on the edge of the table right beside him. “I hate to break it to you, babe,” she sang, leaning in. “But I’m not drowning.”
“There’s no one here to save.” Aurora smirked, winking at Shae as she spun her around in the small floorspace they had.
“Who cares if you disagree?” The twins chorused, Arlette jumping back from the table to brush up against Aurora’s back, taking the crown from her hands, “You are not me!”
“Who made you king of anything?” Arlette dipped forward, placing the gaudy plastic crown on his head. “So you dare tell me who to be?” she whispered the phrase, smirking as she let all the levity drop from her expression, eyes flashing like steel.
“Who died and made you king of anything!” Aurora sang out behind her, unaware of her sister’s sudden seriousness.
The man wriggled out of his seat on the other side, slapped down some money, and ran from the shop.
“Let me hold your crown, babe!” Arlette called after him, spinning the crown between her hands.
There’s silence after his departure.
“So you don’t want the next eight verses?” Aurora smirked.
“Shame, right?” Arlette bounced up to sit on their table.
The other customers burst into applause about them.
Arlette grinned, waving as Aurora bowed.
Warren had his head on the table as Nyx laughed, leaning over to pat his shoulder.
Zlata was looking a little aghast, while Soise was grinning, clapping in delight. Ryun was faintly shocked, while holding Hohen back from joining them.
“So.” Aurora turned to the woman at her side. “Shae, right?”
“Yes…” she frowned at Aurora. “We met… a couple years back?”
“Through Ace and Aro.” She led Shae back to their table. “How’s the rest of them?”
“Sorry if that was a bit much, but you didn’t seem like you wanted him.” Arlette slipped from her perch, bringing Shae’s drink with her. “Here.”
“Thanks.” Shae took it, grinning. “Yeah, I came over for a conference and he… uh, thought I was a hanger on.”
“Lovely.” Aurora snorted, taking her seat beside Keone. “Hey, this is Keone. Keone, Shae.” She flicked her hand between them.
“Delighted.” Shae flicked her head, giving Keone a half salute. “How long’ve you known these two?”
“Not long enough to be used to that.” Keone laughed.
“Yeah, that takes a while.” Shae grinned, looking around. “You have other friends in here, right? The ones that are sighing at us?”
Aurora looked round, caught sight of Warren, and waved, grinning at him.
“He… performed with you the first day, though.” Keone glanced over at him.
“Yeah, only because we chose a tale he liked and because we kinda...”
“We were asked to drag him in.” Arlette smirked.
“And he’s still friends with you.” Shae laughed.
“Grudgingly, grudgingly.” Aurora smiled. “How long are you here for?”
“A couple weeks,” Shae replied, standing up. “But ah – I have to… move on, right now. Sadly. Being paid to be here and all.”
“Worth a shot.”
“Thanks for the save.” Shae clapped Arlette on the shoulder. “We’ll meet up some time, though?”
“Anytime.” Arlette grinned.
“I’ll hold you to that.” Shae smirked and left, waving a hand back at them.

The Music of 2019
As long as I'm bringing everything else over to a Tumblr audience these days...this is a tradition I've had running for over a decade, ever since I decided that tracking my books read and movies watched each year simply wasn't enough to cover my media consumption.

UPDATE: OTHER FUN FACTS
I analyzed where/how I first heard of each song/album (all songs from the same album count as 1, under whatever brought the first song to my ears), and Spotify has a comfortable lead as the top source, but that stake only accounts for 33% of the total. Second place is YouTube, 3rd is the radio, and 4th is ONTD on Livejournal.
But remaining sources (less than 5 apiece) include all of the following: secondhand CDs at garage sales/used bookstores, the library, Tumblr, Instagram, a DVD, Goodreads, a book, Soundcloud, my fiance, Wikipedia, and a concert tour.
#this year is a lot like any other:#mostly women and mostly singer songwriters#a smattering of pop radio hits and country#some rep from actors I like#Christian music is a surprisingly dependable genre#and some Celtic frosting on top#Groban's Bridges album was recced last year and so were the first songs#but I dawdled on listening to them all#the music of 2019

Arriving in Angeles
Thanks to @tracie-beauchamp, @aileen-hollingsworth, and @anastilinskii!
I could barely see from all the camera flashes shining in my eyes. It was finally the day of my send-off. This was the biggest crowd of people that I’ve ever seen. I was wearing a white blouse and black pants (as it was mandatory for all the selected) with a Nemophila in my ear. It was the national flower of Waverly. After awkwardly standing on the stage for five minutes, the mayor finally spoke.
“We are here today, to send off the beautiful daughter of Colette and Théodore Lafleur, the new Lady Naomi Lafleur! Let’s give her a round of applause!”
Some people in the crowd were booing and screaming about how unfair it was that a Five got chosen, while the rest were cheering as loud as they could.
“We wish you the best of luck! Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in sending off Naomi Lafleur, our favorite Daughter of Illea!” he said to end off his speech.
It was time for my farewells. I went over to Étienne first, where he gave me a hug. He kept telling me that he couldn’t be any prouder.
“Yes, yes, yes, I know. I’ll miss you, too. Remember to feed Edgar! Love you, bro,” I said.
Next was Victoire and Lucien.
“Try not to get into any fights with each other, alright? Don’t make it too hard for mom and Étienne. I’ll miss you guys so much and I’ll try to write letters to you as much as I can. If you need any help while no one is home, go find Zara,” I said as I embraced them in a big hug.
Finally, my mom kissed my forehead.
“You have no idea how proud I am of you. Just have fun, okay? And remember this, ma fleur, c'est dans le besoin qu'on reconnaît ses vrais amis. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Don’t become friends with the girls who aren’t going to be there for you when you are in need. I am going to miss you more than you can imagine, ma chere. Oh, and I heard that Chef Baguette will be cooking while you’re there! Tell me how good his food tastes! Je t’adore!”
“I’ll write to you guys as soon as I get there! I love y-,” was all that I managed to say before I was pushed into the car. I looked back at my family from the window as I started to break down.
I’d heard the sad news from one of the officials in the car with me. Apparently, one of the selected was shot by a rebel at her farewell ceremony. I think the name was… Azalea. She was from Hansport, which was right next to Waverly. It made my stomach hurt. She was the youngest of all of the selected. What if those rebels were going to get me next? What if that was me? R.I.P Azalea Archer
I was brought to the the Waverly Airport, where I got to take a private plane to Sumner. Once all five girls got to Sumner, we would all take the same airplane to Angeles. I sat in the private jet alone while the other officials were getting ready for take off.
I should probably memorize the other girls’ names. Hmmm… First we have… Ana Stilinski from Hudson. Next, there’s… Aileen Hollingsworth from Dominica. Then there’s Patricia Beauchamp. How are they so pretty?! Hopefully they’re nice as well.
The airplane was ready to take off now. This was the first time that I’ve been on a plane since I was six years old. I started to feel really queasy. It’s alright, Naomi. Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Don’t worry. I closed my eyes for a few minutes. When I opened them, I was in awe. I looked out the window and my jaw dropped. The sky was absolutely incredible. I immediately took out all my paint brushes and started to draw an outline.
Once we landed in Sumner, they rushed me to the other side of the airport. I was the third one there. Tracie and Ana were already there waiting for me and Aileen.
“Hi, I’m Naomi!”
The first girl waved. “Patricia, but call me Tracie.”
“Cool! So where are you from, Tracie?”
“Whites, but officially Sumner. There have been a problem with my letter... Anyway, what about you?”
“How's it like in Whites? I live in Waverly and it's usually pretty cold”
“If it's pretty cold in Waverly, it's deadly cold in Whites! But I will miss it”
“I'll make sure to wear lots of layers next time I go to Whites then!”
“It's worth it, the landscapes are wonderful!”
“So how old are you?” I asked, trying to keep the conversation going.
Wait, wait, wait. You already knew all this, Naomi! Once we started talking, I forgot all their castes and ages.
“16, but I'm gonna turn 17 in March.”
“I am 17, my birthday is in May,” Ana finally said.
I guess she was just a little timid earlier. I can’t blame her, I was scared that this conversation would become awkward.
“Does it mean I am the youngest person of this selection? My sister hopes I will stay long enough to celebrate my birthday in the palace, she's insane”
“Oh, you have a sister as well? Older or younger?”
“Older, she's 26. Do you have siblings?”
“I have a younger sister named Victoire. She's only 8 years old, along with Lucien, her twin. So we're the younger ones of the selected, I see. I thought Azalea Archer was the youngest. Did you hear the unfortunate news?”
“Younger twins, it is not always easy I guess. Yeah, just before my farewell ceremony. I can't believe it. She has been shot because she was only a selected, this is unfair”
Ana gasped. “Oh my god! I didn't know it!”
“It is so sad. I overheard it from one of the officials who were driving me to my first plane”
“Nobody told you Ana? That's strange.”
“Luckily, no other selected were harmed by the rebels though. Anyways, what are your hobbies?"
“Studying physics in general, or looking after my nephew,” Tracie shrugged.
Wow, she must be really smart. Keep calm, Naomi. Don’t make yourself too awkward.
“That's cool. I like painting or practicing Taekwondo... How about you, Ana?” I added, trying to include her in the conversation.
“Taekwondo? Remember me to stay away from you or not to get you angry!” she responded.
“Hahaha, don't worry. You both seem nice and it's usually pretty hard to get me angry.”
“Sometimes I say something before thinking about it, I need people like you who don't get angry,” Tracie giggled.
“I like playing the violin, and hanging out with my friends,” answering my earlier question.
“Are you in caste five as well?” I asked.
“No I'm a Three, but I really like the sound of the string quartets,” she said.
Why did I assume her caste? I already knew she was a three!
“I know what you mean Ana. It's pretty relaxing,” said Tracie.
“Hahaha, I speak before thinking a lot too,” Ana responded.
“Finally someone who knows what I live every freaking day!”
“Cool! I love listening to string quartets as well. I can sort of play the viola but it's not my expertise. The ukulele are where my skills are at,” I chuckled.
“My brother-in-law can play the ukulele that's a funny instrument,” Tracie added.
“Did you bring it?” She asked.
“Yeah, they only allowed me to bring my special ukulele after I begged them to,” I replied.
I saw a redhead walking towards us.
“Did someone say ukulele?” She asked.
“Hi, you must be Aileen! I'm Naomi,” I said to greet her.
After the introductions, we boarded the plane.
“Is this your first time flying?” I asked Aileen.
She shook her head. “I've traveled ever since I could walk.”
Wow, I can’t imagine having to travelling that much in my life.
“Really? What caste are you in? The only other time that I've traveled is when I moved to Waverly from France!” I said.
“Oh you come from France, Naomi? I have family there!” Tracie stated.
“You have family in France? I moved when I was around six, so I barely remember anything from then. I'm really tired. Sorry... *yawn* I'm going to take a nap, guys. Wake me up when we get there!”
“Okay, good nap Naomi,” said Tracie.
Aileen nodded. I fell asleep right away.
Right when we got into the palace, we each had to take our ‘Before’ photos. After my photo was taken, a lady named Clementine, gestured me into a chair.
“Hi, you’re Naomi, right? I’m here to give you your makeover along with Matilda over here. Do you have any questions or shall I just start?” asked Clementine in a harsh tone.
“Um… You can begin,” I said.
“Now what can we do with her hair?” whispered Clementine.
“Hmmm… Should we dye it or cut it shorter?” asked Matilda.
“I quite like her hair. I think we should just cut it shoulder length and curl it a bit”
“Yeah, we can do that. Let’s begin!”
Matilda started to trim my hair while Clementine worked on makeup and nails. It was really rushed.
“Ugh, your nails are absolutely horrid. How am I supposed to work on these” Clementine said in disgust.
Once I was finished with the makeover, I looked at the mirror. I thought that Clementine and Matilda did absolutely amazing and I started to feel more confident.
I was brought to my room where I met my three maids.
“Hello, Lady Naomi. I’m Aurora, this is Eleanor, and that is Lavender! We will be your maids for the duration of your stay,” said Aurora,
“You can just call me Naomi. It’s nice to meet you three!” I responded.
“We have a few dresses for you to pick here. We are supposed to bring you back downstairs to take your ‘after’ photos.” Lavender said.
There was a rack of lovely gowns behind them. Eventually, I chose the simple gray one with some black heels. They brought me downstairs where I lined up to get my photo taken.
Once I was finished, I went to my back to my room, where I met Mila. Her room was right next to mine and she seemed quite kind. We exchanged some smiles and introduced ourselves to each other. I was getting tired so I went inside and got ready for bed. As I tried to fall asleep, I then realized how competitive this would turn out… but I was ready.
One of us will become the next queen of Illéa. May the best girl win.
