I've found a total of 7 babies so far, 6 on one side of the tank but in various spots so it's hard to get a decent picture of those 6 let alone any of em bc they're so tiny. Also I've really only seen the one snail, hopefully it stays that way! Not to mention I've had an explosion of the tanks micro fauna(cyclops, detritus worms, rhabdocoela) which I appreciate. As much as I dislike the algae buildup, everyone in the tank thinks otherwise since they're constantly munching away at it so I don't really get to clear it away as much as I'd like

this is super long-overdue, but i recently made a shrimpshipping fankid!! it's been a while since i made a fan character, but i was so inspired by the yugioh oc community on insta that i wanted to try my hand at making one!

around 20 years after the events of yugioh duel monsters, maizey raptor-underwood was born through surrogacy. with two animal-lovers for parents, maizey grew to love the outdoors, and believes that animals are superior to humans in just about every way.

fun facts:

her name is a reference to a maize weevil. if she was born a boy she might have been named mosey, like mosasaurus.

she eventually attends duel academy, and would be a slifer red.

her outfit's pawprint motif with three toepads represents the three members of her family.

Blackwater Dive

2024, hand bleached and dyed denim, cotton batting and thread

inspired by blackwater photography of plankton! this was my first time layering bleach painting. All the silhouettes were painted with bleaching gel, loosely tie dyed, and then bleached again to make the highlights. I quilted the piece using my free motion foot to outline each individual animal and tacked down the rest of the quilt with small satin stitches that remind me of marine snow. I dyed bias tape to match. super happy with this one and excited to show it in a gallery setting soon!
