for @mellowtheoristpainter. answering here because price brain go brrr
notes: this is only about reboot!price. i'm not super knowledgeable about the military. this is 100% my opinion. would love to hear other's thoughts. and, some of this is conjecture because we just don't know enough about price.
this recent post of mine is an intro on my thoughts re:price: posty post. cap price is my favorite cod man and a complicated character. he's an insidious motherfucker.
i think to expand upon it, i want to talk about price and gaz specifically.
in the post you're referring to, i also use the tag #he's all business all about the mission. 'old comrades' in mw 2019 is a good illustration that shows how far price is willing to go to accomplish a mission. he'll use whatever means he has to to achieve it and in that case, it's the butcher's wife and child - 'truth serum'. price even makes a comment (i don't have the transcript in front of me) that boils down to "the butcher has no problem hurting children" - a callback to the embassy mission, where early on, we see a child run from the butcher and is presumably shot and killed (the death is hidden by smoke iirc). now i don't think price had intentions to kill the butcher's family, but something tells me it's not the first time he's used the 'truth serum' tactic.
i won't get into the full gloves off speech in mw 2019, but i AM looking forward to seeing how it continues in the franchise. see here for a scrap of what i'd like to see in future games: posty post
also, tats (@stuffireadandenjoy) added great commentary to that post about the embassy line.
when we first meet price in the reboot, it's at piccadilly, where he throws a man with a bomb locked to his chest over a railing to save the lives of other hostages. ngl when i play, i feel awful, but i still rationalize it. not getting into a philosophical debate on morality here, but the scene's upsetting. it's supposed to be upsetting. the entire franchise is upsetting.
but that's not the only interesting thing about that mission to me. gaz tries and fails to open the locked suicide vest. price makes the decision for gaz. gaz, even though there's only ~5 secs left on the timer, insists he can get it. price doesn't just outrank him - he's older and more experienced. price shoves gaz away, pitches the guy over the balcony, thus saving the rest of the hostages. again we can see where this was a good decision despite it being an awful one. it establishes john price as a character that can 'rise above' to make the hard choices.
gaz is a great character, hands down, love the man. (also a war criminal. anyway.) but i think he's especially interesting in these interactions with price. we see this young sergeant, fairly early career (compared to price), who is frustrated by the limitations and red tape of his job. joins price when price validates his anger post-piccadilly. gaz was probably like "fucking finally someone higher up who gets it". the way price looks at him in that scene too -- the man is listening. observing. he sees someone he can bring under his wing and help shape him. there is a reason he recruits gaz for tf 141. i think price sees gaz as a protege/successor.
ok this is getting long so here's an unceremonious wrap-up: in conclusion, price has had to make fucked up choices in pursuit of The Mission™. some he doesn't want to make (see: mwiii, i blame shepherd for EVERYTHING) and some he seems to have no problems making (piccadilly, using 'truth serum'). he learned at some point in his career he can take the gloves off and get dirty because what matters is mission success. the end justifies the means.
i haven't even touched on the military propaganda of it all, either. but smarter and hotter people than i have done that on this site.
unfortunately, i am still riddled with a disease called priceaholicism.
if you read this far and don't hate me, thank you! 🫶

Kashmir is dealing with its worst electricity crisis with power generation hitting a record low of 50-100 MegaWatts (MW) against the demand of 1800 MW, adversely impacting the life of over 70 lakh people. The Valley is in the middle of its longest power cuts in two decades, with people spending 12 to 16 hours without supply. The prolonged cuts come at a time when the night temperatures have hit sub-zero in the Valley. Among the most affected are the elderly and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, whose numbers go up during the winters.

it's not a request or an attempt of shaking a free request out of you, so pls don't hit me with a stick good sir, but was this couple of doodles about wren trying on a mask and meeting dagoth ur in his dream just one-off for shits and giggles or a premise for a serious comic? looks intriguing ngl
It's a bit of both, I wanted to figure out a more concrete premise for how a quest in the mod would go down (which I've kind of abandoned for the time being for the sake of just a functional rounded out follower, quests and setting up the scenes the way I wanted to are kind of a bit too complex for me to handle atm) so it was more like structured storyboards. The quest in-game would go as such:
You finish Ashen Heart and pick up the mask.
The next time you sleep (with it in your inventory or you're wearing it) you have a dream in the text format similar to the werewolf one where you're in a cave similar to the Sixth House ones in MW or one of the strongholds, he wants his mask back and tells you as such. You can say yes or no, but you physically meet him later to actually give it to him (to trigger the follow conversation)
If you refuse to give him his mask, you suffer stat drain and can no longer get rest bonuses and have a drastically reduced disease resistance until you either take it to the temple or give it to him
If you give it to him, you get a prompt that leads to him assisting you, because he's bored and clearly those priests of his fucked up and he's annoyed about it (also he misses being so close and seeing the world, what with doing semi-godlike spirit stuff for the last 200 years and being in a volcano before that--thus kind of back to the original vacation idea lol (also also he could find someone to bestow the mask to again...but he won't tell you that))
...but also gave me the opportunity to expand on the GoTT quests and implications (if you wear the mask you hear the Song), which the quest would have been linked to, and was a neat concept to explore with Wren, specifically, given his prior experiences with everyone. The quest wouldn't have gone quite as smoothly with him because he would be more aggressive and awkward about...everything and would diverge from the questline for obvious reasons, but I think I might redo that as a 4 panel type thing with a bigger lean on it being comedic than the serious tone I was leaning into lmao

Get a Grip on Osteoarthritis
By: Michael Reoch, RMT
The online medical dictionary defines Osteoarthritis (OA) or degenerative joint disease (DJD), as a progressive disorder of the joints caused by gradual loss of cartilage and resulting in the development of bony spurs and cysts at the margins of the joints. The name osteoarthritis comes from three Greek words meaning bone, joint, and inflammation(1)
The common perception is that OA is caused by wear and tear of the cartilage in the joint. Eventually this cartilage is worn down and we get a “bone on bone” situation that we are told is very painful (2). Now, there are new ideas emerging on what helps to cause OA and what its relationship is to painful experiences (3). Instead of looking at OA as your cause of chronic pain, it may be that it is the chronic pain that comes first(4)(3). Lets say you get a RSI (repetitive strain injury) from doing a task without rest, such as using a mouse too often (5)(6). This injury will cause long-term inflammation chemicals such as a group called cytokines to hang out in the area where pain is felt. Over time these inflammation chemicals may cause the tissues in the area to degenerate or break down(7)(8). This is first felt as achiness accompanied with stiffness in movement, usually after waking up in the morning(2). Over time the OA has a central nervous system component(3). What that means is the brain and spinal chord play a major role in the pain you feel. There is an increase in cytokines in the spinal chord, which start to inhibit our natural pain dampening ability(7)(9). Also, some brain regions may have glitches in processing the signals between it and the painful joint(10). Studies show people with OA are more likely to feel pain with less provocation not just in the involved joint(s) but in areas away from the joint(s)(11)(3). There are also studies coming out that are showing that joint surgery for knee arthritis is no better than placebo surgery(12)!
The take-home message is that joint damage is a poor indicator of how much pain you actually feel.
If you feel pain in an area from doing repetitive tasks you should make an effort to permanently decrease that pain: Ask your RMT for help. If you already have bony changes from OA seeing a RMT should be part of your pain management program. This program should involve tweaks to make your activities easier, exercises and massage therapy, as well as any medications your doctor may prescribe. To better understand this new way of viewing OA, you can watch this video or this interesting one that uses mirrors and video tricks to decrease OA pain!

Flue Gas Desulfurization: Analyzing India’s Prominence
A study by the National Institute of Health (NIH) estimates that around 2 million deaths occur annually due to chronic respiratory diseases. Long exposures to outdoor air pollution and the toxic effects of biomass fuel are the major risk factors. Thus, an ongoing surge in emissions drives the demand for flue gas desulfurization across several industries like iron and steel, cement production, and power generation. Triton’s report estimates that the Global Flue Gas Desulfurization Market is likely to advance with a CAGR of 4.93% over the forecast years 2023-2030.
The pollution levels are rising, especially in emerging countries within Asia-Pacific. Due to rapid industrialization, coal combustion has become a huge source of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions. This boosts the demand for FGD systems. Accordingly, our analysis suggests that the Asia-Pacific flue gas desulfurization market is expected to witness the fastest growth at 5.42% CAGR during the forecast period 2023-2032.
Several governments have introduced stringent regulatory norms primarily centered on deploying these systems to target air pollution. With a sustainable energy vision, India has emerged as a major contender within the Asia-Pacific region.
Let’s dive deeper into examining the factors that derive its prominence.
India: Emerging Hub in Flue Gas Desulfurization Market
· Mitigating Pollution Levels on Priority
As per Greenpeace (an environmental NGO), India is the largest emitter of SO2 in the world. It is contributing more than 15% of global anthropogenic emissions. Thus, it becomes imperative for India’s coal-based thermal power plants to adopt FGDs. In this regard, wet FGD systems are highly effective in removing sulfur dioxide and other pollutants from flue gases.
Given the rising prominence, Adani Group placed an order worth ₹6,163.20 crore for 5 FGD projects with Power Mech Projects Ltd in 2022. These projects are to be implemented at the coal-based power plants over the next 30 months. In order to achieve compliance with emission standards and mitigate the environmental impact of sulfur dioxide emissions, the market for flue gas desulfurization is rising.
· Government’s Regulatory Push
The Union Environment Ministry in India specified stringent emission norms for coal-based power plants in December 2015. Adhering to them, a large number of India’s coal power plants aimed to install FGDs by 2022. However, less than 8% of those plants have successfully adopted these solutions, which led to an extension of the deadline until December 2027.
At present, as per the Press Information Bureau (PIB), 24 units having a total capacity of 10.6 GW have installed and operationalized FGDs in their facility. This highlights the growing potential of flue gas desulfurization technology for stakeholders in the coming years.
· Abundance of Key Raw Material
Limestone is the primary material required for FGD systems in power plants. India owns around 282 coal power plants, for which high-quality limestone (CaCo3 > 90%) is desirable. This fine-quality limestone is already being produced by India, especially for the steel and chemical industries.
Interestingly, India is one of the largest producers of limestone in the world, with 27% of the total resources found in Karnataka. Annually, the nation produces 338 million tonnes of limestone. As per CSE, a rough estimate shows that a 500 MW plant will need about 32,000 – 40,000 tonnes of limestone annually, which costs around ₹3 – ₹4 crore. As a majority of power plants are also located within 200 km of a limestone mine, accessibility becomes less challenging. Therefore, resource abundance and regional distribution significantly indicate the ease of FGD installation.
· Extensive utilization of the byproduct
One of the multiple benefits offered by deploying limestone is the generation of gypsum as a key byproduct of FGD systems. Since it is a scarce resource in India, the adoption of FGD enables India’s power plants to produce about 12 – 17 million tonnes of gypsum. This will reduce the import burden and facilitate the use of synthetic gypsum. It will also help to meet the domestic demand for gypsum as an integral component of cement production. In the long term, power plants can, therefore, offset the cost of limestone by utilizing all the FGD gypsum produced or by selling it.
Future Prospects: Advancements in FGD Technology
The need for flue gas desulfurization systems is witnessing a significant expansion due to several advancements by major Indian manufacturers like GE Power, Mitsubishi Power LTD, and Tata Consulting Engineers Limited. Technologies such as fuel switching, boiler modernization, catalytic convertors, fluidized bed combustion, etc, are used to mitigate SO2 emissions. In the evolving industrial landscape, the application of multi-pollutant technologies to control pollutants is essential. This also paves the way for stakeholders to explore opportunities emerging in the FGD market.
FAQs
Q.1) What is the required temperature range for the process of desulfurization?
The optimum desulfurization temperature required is between 350° to 550°C.
Q.2) Who are the key end-users of FGDs?
The key end-users are chemical manufacturing industries, petrol refineries, power stations, and mineral ore processing plants.
Q.3) What chemicals are used in flue gas desulfurization?
In addition to limestone (calcium carbonate), calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide or sodium, magnesium carbonate, and ammonia are used.

ESG Reporting and Transparency in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Sector
Pharmaceutical manufacturing has repeatedly stepped up during global crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Industry leaders are recognizing the significance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) pillars, including climate change, diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI), product innovation, business ethics, equitable access & pricing and product quality. The need to embed and align responsible business practices for strategic decisions, governance and business operations will augur well for purpose-driven pharmaceutical manufacturing organizations.
Leading companies are exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and Global Reporting Initiative to help pharmaceutical players assess their impacts on corruption, climate change and human rights and pursue opportunities to solve societal challenges.
The global push to develop and build a resilient, equitable and sustainable health system has encouraged stakeholders to achieve a safe, ethical and responsible culture by harnessing the power of innovation and science.
Surmounting Climate Change Concerns—Environmental Pillar
Pharma companies are navigating the environmental challenges that have become notorious for causing a surge in health inequalities, chronic diseases and the burden on the health system. The environmental impact of drug manufacturing can lead to carbon emissions, pollution and water depletion. Accordingly, access to healthcare and environmental sustainability has come to the fore as an invaluable proposition.
Stakeholders are expected to use emission control practices, technologies, and environmental risk assessment methodologies to limit the discharge of active pharmaceutical ingredients to wastewater from manufacturing processes. For instance, in 2021, Pfizer forged a virtual PPA with Vesper Energy (Vesper), wherein the latter will provide a minimum of 310 MW of renewable energy to the grid from the Hornet Solar project (in west Texas).
Is your business one of participants to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry? Contact us for focused consultation around ESG Investing, and help you build sustainable business practices
Emphasis on Expanding Healthcare Access—Social Pillar
The havoc wrecked by the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a litmus test for healthcare workers, frontline employees and the public amidst soaring demand to bolster healthcare resilience, boost access to life-saving treatments and foster sustainable healthcare solutions. A buoyant ESG approach alludes to expanding geographies where rare disease medicines are available, ramping up patient access, addressing unmet medical needs and enhancing product life cycle management.
Data analytics can be instrumental for early diagnosis, medical research and training. In 2022, AstraZeneca joined forces with the EDISON Alliance of World Economic Forum to enhance the lives of 1 billion people by 2025 through digital inclusion. The pharmaceutical giant is committed to using AI-based technology to screen 5 million patients for lung cancer.
Ethics and Transparency Vital to Embed ESG Culture—Governance Pillar
Decision-making that complements ethics, quality, transparency and integrity serves as a precursor to governance goals. As the industry moves towards a sustainable future, sound corporate governance will be pivotal to underscore ESG performance. With the pharma industry investing in life-saving drugs, incumbent players are well-positioned to underpin their governance portfolio.
Robust ethical behavior speaks volumes of how industry leaders are doing the right thing—reporting and investigating concerns. For instance, 87% of employees at GlaxoSmithKline believe they “can and do speak up if things don’t feel right.” In 2022, the behemoth reportedly conducted 1,060 quality audits of its suppliers, emphasizing active pharmaceutical ingredient suppliers and propelling product governance.
Corporate governance warrants commitment to high ethical standards to underscore trust among stakeholders and underpin transparency and integrity. Sustainability-focused decision-making will help companies bolster their brand position through ethical decision-making, accountability, supply chain transparency, data privacy & protection and risk management. Notably, audit programs in manufacturing, clinical, preclinical and logistics will ensure that products are compliant with regulatory requirements. Bullish governance policies will muster up the confidence of investors, entrepreneurs, shareholders and other stakeholders.
Reaping Benefits of ESG—a Vital Cog for Business
The future of the pharma industry alludes to a sustainable approach to building a healthier planet. Investments in net zero buildings, renewables, patient engagement, reducing the environmental footprint of the supply chain and manufacturing and medicine optimization will engineer ESG growth. Stakeholders are pushing to the limits to create an atmosphere to impel DEI, provide decent work and economic growth, gender equality, minimize inequalities, foster corporate governance and communicate ESG goals to the public. Prevailing trends exhort the valuation of the global pharmaceutical manufacturing market size at USD 405.52 billion in 2020 and back the expected CAGR of 11.34% between 2021 and 2028.

Attachments You Need In The Forestry Industry
Why is it necessary for us to have specialized forestry attachments? Over the course of several decades, the forestry industry has grown into a large sector that is absolutely dependent on robust and long-lasting machines. In the past 10 years, there has been a considerable increase in the upgrading of current attachments in comparison to the introduction of new tools and gadgets that function effectively in all environments. No matter what your requirements are, you will be able to find an appropriate attachment that will assist you in completing your assignment in a timely manner.
These days, there is an abundance of heavy equipment and all of the attachments and extras that go along with it on the market. Whatever it is that you’re looking for, it has to be an item that satisfies not only your requirements but also your financial constraints. Below you’ll find a list of some of the most useful attachments that not only function properly but also provide professional results.
Pruning Shears
Tree shears are hydraulic attachments that make felling and delimbing trees much more efficient. This equipment is versatile and efficient, and it may be used to cut down trees from any angle. This attachment is helpful for site clearing businesses of all sizes and capacities, located anywhere in the world. Newer models of tree shears are capable of felling trees with larger diameters. Utilizing tree shears to cut down trees mechanically for the purposes of harvesting timber or managing land is both the quickest and most dependable approach available. There is no other method that comes close. The least amount of ground was moved as a result of the use of this tool, which also handles and slices wood. It also eliminates the necessity for grounds staff to physically touch and examine the wood, as well as the requirement that they work at elevated elevations.
When dealing with trees that are diseased or have died, it is indisputable that dedicating the operation to mechanical falling is both quicker and safer than entrusting the job to human labor. This instrument results in a higher return on investment for you as a result of the decreased costs associated with labor (Return On Investment). Because this attachment eliminates the need for substantial usage of chainsaws and humans, more dangerous clearances by buildings or bodies of water can be addressed strategically and safely using the excavator’s reach. This is possible because the chainsaws and persons are no longer needed. The forestry business has a good chance of achieving outstanding results on a consistent basis thanks to forestry attachments.
In terms of its structure, it is made out of high-tensile steel that is wear-resistant, and it has an extra-reinforced body to ensure that it can be mounted securely. In more developed iterations, cutters that are heavy-duty, powerful, and equipped with lubricating caps can be found. There is also an option for a backrest, which comes at a modest additional cost.
Log Grabs
The PW Series is the fruit of a ground-breaking effort made by CMB to expand the range of forestry equipment it provides. They are extremely versatile, enabling fast and risk-free tree and shrub cutting and collection in a variety of environments, including flat land, hills, and swampy areas. They are also very helpful in maintaining the cleanliness of walkways and roadside ditches. They are particularly suited for use in situations involving extensive collection in forested environments. The mechanism that cuts is long-lasting, and the materials that were used allow for only minimal wear on the equipment as well as routine upkeep. Because the equipment is equipped with a picker arm, the operators can also use it to handle logs. The blade change is a straightforward and speedy process, which minimizes the amount of time the machine is out of service.
The MW Series tree shears, which come with an oscillating chainsaw unit, are designed specifically for the safe felling of trees as well as the clearing of branches. Slopes, riverbanks, swamplands, traffic corridors, and railways are all excellent places to put it to use.
The attachment consists of a chainsaw, a springy suspension, and a tilting gear that guards the chainsaw bar while it is being used for cutting. It is offered in two different variations: “MW580 short,” which has a single gripper and is suitable for telescopic handlers or track excavators; and “MW580 full,” which has two grippers and is designed for use with track excavators. The MW Series is capable of cutting diameters of up to 750 mm and because to its speed, it offers exceptional productivity in felling and reducing trunks that have already been cut.

Note
A bit from her campaign site, emphasis added - MW on climate change:
This cannot be a Left versus Right, Democrat versus Republican, socialism versus capitalism conversation — it is a survival versus full-scale human destruction conversation, and when the American people awaken to this then the American people will do what it takes to handle the challenge that confronts us. No president will be able to take the steps that are truly necessary, without that buy-in.
"If the other side won't voluntarily join in with my plans, well, I guess we're all gonna die and there's nothing I can do about it. Totally not my fault. My hands are tied."
Most of her site is generic leftist-Democratic talking points. Her "health" tab is not.
Prevent and reverse many diseases through lifestyle changes: This has been demonstrated in medical research to be effective. The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study showed that changes in nutrition and lifestyle factors could potentially prevent 93% of diabetes, 81% of heart attacks, 50% of strokes and 36% of all cancers.
...support effective leading-edge approaches like Integrative and Functional medicine—which take a whole body systems approach to cultivating health and healing disease.
Coverage for programs that promote health by improving diet, increasing exercise, managing stress and providing social support in ways that are scientifically shown to prevent and even reverse disease.
Require our healthcare system to reimburse medical professionals for a broader array of lifestyle and nutrition support, focused on preventing disease and/or addressing root causes.
Nothing in her "Health" page says "I am anti vax." But she doesn't acknowledge that COVID exists, nor is it stated
By counterpoint: RFK, Jr, who was running as a Democrat and has switched to independent - has an environmental policy that details specific actions (changing agricultural subsidies, protect wildlands from commercial exploitation, restore the USDA and EPA, etc.). I don't know his exact focus on those, but at least I can tell he has a plan that isn't "everyone must agree with me or we're sunk."
RFK's approach to health care also doesn't acknowledge COVID as a real problem - but he does acknowledge specific issues:
Healthcare spending per capita has increased twelve-fold since 1960. Are we twelve times healthier? Quite the contrary: We face today a terrible pandemic—not of Covid, but of chronic disease. Autoimmunity, allergies, diabetes, obesity, addiction, anxiety, and depression afflict two-thirds of the population, up from a few percent in our grandparents’ time.
I am NOT In favor of RFK Jr. I fully expect to vote for Biden; I'm certainly not voting for anyone currently in the news as a Democratic or Independent candidate.
But by comparing MW's statements to other left-leaning campaigns, you can see what she's not saying.
She is NOT saying, "I understand how this problem works and I have a plan to fix it." Instead, she's got a whole lot of "many people are concerned so we must all pull together to make a better future."
I am not interested in a candidate who says they want a "better future." I want a candidate who can tell me who's getting a tax cut under their administration.
Thoughts on Marianne Williamson for 2024? Or her just in general? I don’t know much about her, but the left/progressives claim she holds their moral values and believes in radical change. Is it possible she’ll just be another Bernie, who made ‘preaching to the choir’ statements without actual plans to enact the policy they want? Or can she be a considerable candidate for 2024? I’m planning on voting for Biden for re-election, but I do want to know more about Marianne.
She is a flake, a kook, has no real experience, is anti-vax, anti-depressant, generally completely unfit for being president, and I don't know why the Online Leftists have latched onto her.... okay, yes, I do. It's because they are diehard, pathologically averse to voting for the only candidate who can a) beat Trump and b) has actually enacted progressive and helpful change for real, and not just in their fever-dream fantasies. And because they haven't learned ANY lessons from how badly 2016 was fucked up, they insist on putting us through this "uwu I need a Special Third Party candidate uwu" rather than doing anything useful whatsoever. I will try to control the rant here, but yeah: this is a trigger for me. I fucking hate everyone who still lives in Cloud Cuckoo Online Leftist Land and refuses to acknowledge the damage they did because they "just didn't like" Hillary in 2016 and are guzzling at the teat of Tankie Propaganda about Biden and are still therefore utterly useless (and indeed, actively and viciously harmful) at the project of opposing actual theocratic fascism. So. Yeah.
