#MSP is ending and I am emotional

As today is the last MSP frigay, I just wanted to write a wee lwittle post about the people I am very glad I could connect with due to our love for this series [bordering on obsessive tendencies but that's okay this is tumblr]. Even more than the series, I looked forward to talking to these mooties of mine with their theories, fanfictions and just plain screaming at times.

@ashedddaisy Angel, thankyou for being my first friend in here. I will never regret the day I decided to come and ask you about some vague ass theory I had about tinngun in your DMs. You introduced me to the world of SOUNDWIN and picture perfect analogies and I hope you continue to do this for many more series to come. Hopefully, our angst and delusion brain proportion stays the same as we really need to strike a balance at the end of the day 😭.

@gaylittlepieceofsh1t Nannu, you are the second friend I got from this fandom, and it was all thanks to your tinngun au on ao3. I loved that fic and I am glad we started talking BECAUSE of it cuz now I have a friend who will torture me by sending insta tinn edits cuz I was a dumb fool to blurt out my obsession with him at one point in time. I love sending you edits too and I hope neither of us stop that anytime soon even tho we are busy busy people.

@lost-my-sanity1 Trisha, you little baby. One of these days I need to very strictly scold you for using your [admittedly smooth] pick up lines on this old grandma. You are the youngest in my friend list but you are also so so mature in so many of your thoughts and theories that I do get a bit wonderstruck sometimes, I am sorry. I love how we share a lot of similarities and keep guessing what the future eps are going to be like, and I always, always enjoyed your reactions to every theory I copied from Twitter. Also I love telling you to go study, it's one of my fav past times.

To conclude, I am very very very happy that I met all of you and I hope we continue screaming on each other's faces about new well developed and well acted series.

all i have to say about my school president prom night live on stage is that it was an Experience, and i am so so so in awe of everything it put out. the sets and backdrops were stunning, the costume design served, the arrangements slapped, but shining above all that and bringing it all to life were those 9 boys... they gave such. incredible. performances i dont know what to say. they put on a four-hour-long musical two nights in a row, sang and danced to all 14 of their show's songs as well as at least 14 more. all of them are so unspeakably talented it awes me to know that most of them are new actors. they clearly had so much fun on that stage together. the love for the show and the crew and for each other was so so strong.

i hope those boys get lots of well-earned rest, water, and love after all that hard work!!! i dont have anything else to say - this series, this live show, and this cast, are and have all been so special.

- My School President End Notes -

So, I've finally finished watching My School President, after a ton of push from my friends, and here I am! It was a wonderfully sweet, adorable and innocent high school BL show, which stole my heart and made me emotional in too many ways.

In this review, I'll address a few of the best things that I enjoyed the most regarding MSP. So, stay tuned for what's coming ahead!

1. Musicality of the Show

I've never seen a BL show with so many amazing Osts, and musicality stuffed inside it. When I started out with the first episode, I was freaking hooked to the intro, like it was so good. Then the other songs which were introduced later in the show, or which then band has sung, over all I adore and cherish each and every song and composition the show has brought it. There were happy songs, romantic ones, and even realistic ones.

But the best part was how they've had also introduced the funky dancing numbers as well. As a huge music lover, I enjoyed every bit of soaking into the dance and music of the show. The actors did an immaculate job at portraying marvelous skills through their singing and dancing skills, and I just simply loved it all. Music has to be the major theme of the show, over all - because it certainly caught my entire attention just from this aspect.

2. Messages on Following your Dreams

Another strong message that I've felt through out the show was how they've consistently emphasised on the beauty, yearning and struggles of following what one truly loves. What makes the concept more appealing that they've successfully portrayed the realistic harsh side that drags you down from moving ahead. I was utterly heartbroken when Chinzilla didn't win the Hot Wave awards, because personally I've been a massive fan of their music. But once, that part portrayed how life is not always fair, and you'd always have someone who is better than you in every competition in your life, and that part hit hard.

When Gun auditioned for another music show recommended by Tinn, he was disappointed again because he wasn't the best one out there, which is always relatable. Even if we do our best, it is guaranteed that world will treat us kindly. But what matters the most is keep going, polishing your skills and passion, and doing it for the love of it - that is one thing that will fruitfullly keep you motivated on your journey. The constant feeling of giving up, the repetitive defeat of the band members felt too emotional for me, because I could feel it on such a deep level - that was a freaking realistic truth from such an innocently adorable high school BL show.

3. Innocence in Love

My School President has become the quintessence of the first childhood love. The most delicate and sweetest kind of love that blooms between two kids for the first time in their life and the portrayal of this wonderful thing has been successfully executed in the entire show. The confession scene of TinnGun was literally my favourite out of all confesion scenes, maybe because the quick and realistic approach of it. The way Tinn just hinted it out casually when Gun asked, and how even Gun somehow understood exactly what he meant.

The whole interaction was subtle and yet so deep, which actually happens in real life. That's what attracted me the most. I loved how TinnGun represented the purest form of love, without physical vulgarity or lust - it was simply two people wholeheartedly in love. Love is unconditional, love is about seeing the other person happy, and TinnGun have manifested this kind of love effortlessly through their charismatic performance, and I absolutely cherish it.

4. SoundWin

C'mon, I had to mention them because they flourished a new kind of interest in me throughout the show. For me, they were the most appealing part of the show - I was always looking out for more of their chemistry and interactions. I think SoundWin had the best kind of love story development I've seen so far - realistically speaking. When these two first were introduced to one another, has anyone of us thought they're gonna be a thing? Well, not for me. They two had the most casual and realistic romantic development that I absolutely loved.

Their love wasn't based on first sight or physical attraction, but as they proceeded on getting to know one another, getting to share personal stories with one another, they fell. Honestly, their chemistry is extremely sizzling, prove me wrong. Like their bandmates say, even when they bicker, chemistry is overflowing and I totally agree with that. It was so satisfying to see how Win silently cares for Sound when he had wrist pain, or how Sound constantly looks out for Win especially he's feeling broken, especially after the Hot Wave. I just am being fan of cute bickering couples, so automatically SoundWin just effortlessly pulled me in.

5. Packed with Supportive Characters

The show has the perfect combination of the best supporting characters ever, whether it is about the positive parenthood from the parents of TinnGun, or about the genuine friendship that is emphasised among the band teammates. I've immensely enjoyed how genuine, well-wishing people are around this entire show. It depicts how there are actually kind people around who are willing to have your backs and always end you whenever you're feeling down. My favourite supportive characters has to be Tiw, and TinnGun's parents. Tiw has been the best boy throughout the series, with innate helpfulness along with multitasking to help out others - Tiw is a marvelous character.

He has always got Tinn's back - it doesn't matter if he has to be a MV director, tutor, promoter or even a dancing coach, he is ready for all of it, if it helps his friends. On the other hand, the parents of the show displayed the ideal parenthood that must be looked up to. The fact that despite being of different mindsets, both TinnGun's parents had the welfare and happiness of their children in their minds all the time. They never forced their children, but tried to understand them and encourage them who they are and what they love. I hope more parents start achieving this standard, because this united efforts makes the world a much better place.

My School President is a charming cute BL show, that has stole my heart with it's wonderful characters, shared passion for dreams and most importantly the positivity that it portrayed. It surely has be the most green-flag BL I've ever watched. From the healthy handling of conflicts to the sweet pure interactions between two high-schoolers - this BL is another unique addition to chain of the most beautiful BL shows ever made.

Now that the show is over, here are my final thoughts on My Love Mix-Up TH as compared to its original versions.

My Love Mix-Up is one of my all-time favorite stories, and GeminiForth blew me away in MSP, so when I heard they were making a Thai adaptation, it instantly became one of my most anticipated of 2024. I thought they would be perfect for the characters, and the goofiness of the drama is the exact flavor Thailand usually eats up.

TLDR: I felt the writing of the th version lacked a core understanding of how to be different from its predecessor while also maintaining the integrity of the original plot and characters. Had this version been my first introduction to this story, I would have enjoyed it much more. But since it's the third, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming longing for what could have been.

It took me a few episodes to really figure out what exactly about this version wasn't hitting right. I knew it wasn't the acting (even though I am in the boat of gemforth should have been cast for eachothers characters, but I'm not gonna get into the why in this post). Both actors proved they are more than capable to pull off this story by what they showed us in their previous projects. It also wasn't the obscene amount of ads (for me). I've seen enough thai dramas to expect and embrace the ads, and I felt they were actually weeved into the story in a way that mostly made sense and didn't detract too much.

For me it really came down to the writing and directing. They definitely saw the silliness of the plot and characters and had an absolute field day, but then they didn't stop. They went constantly from one scene to the next, onto the next goof or gag, they never let the audience breathe. They didn't know how to slow down and let the characters have a serious moment.

I think the first nail in the coffin for me was the scene where Half figures out Atom actually likes Kongthap like for real. In the jp version, it's a heavy scene treated with the real seriousness of the situation. Aida realizes his friend has feelings for a man, and Aoki is filled with so much anxiety in that moment that you can feel it through the screen. Because it is a serious moment, Aoki could lose his best friend, his secret could be out, it could ruin his life. So when Aida not only reassures Aoki that he accepts him, but also apologizes for not being a friend that could be trusted with the secret and inadvertently ending his relationship with Ida, it becomes a beautiful scene that strengthens their friendship. In the th version, it's a quick conversation between Half and Atom with little anxiety about what is actually being discussed. It makes the scene feel unimportant, unserious, when in reality it's very important to not only the plot, but also in Atom and Half's characterization.

I also felt this way about many scenes involving Konthap's character. His main arc is about understanding his feelings and emotions and telling the difference between platonic and romantic love. For the sake of length, I'll only highlight one scene.

After their successful first date and back in Ida's room, Ida teases Aoki when he gets flustered about the idea of Ida changing in front of him. Aoki gets mad because it feels like Ida isn't taking their relationship seriously, and it becomes I huge turning point for Ida as he contemplates his intentions toward Aoki and whether or not it's friendship or more. It's something he struggles with before this scene AND after, so when he finally truly gets it and asks Aoki to really be his bf, it holds a huge emotional weight in-story and in the audience.

In the th version, Kongthap comes to terms with this struggle in the very same scene after seemingly not much thought. While I do appreciate that the fight wasn't dragged out, it kind of just takes away one of the characters main traits, makes him more emotionally intelligent earlier in the story, and thus takes away from the final outcome when Kongthap and Atom actually get together. Kongthap seems to only struggle with his feelings when it's convenient to the plot (ie not knowing how to initiate a first kiss) rather than it being and overarching character trait that he overcomes.

It's why their rooftop kiss, while a very beautiful scene, doesn't hold the emotional weight a rooftop kiss with fireworks in the background is supposed to have.

It's why I'm not upset they removed the amnesia dream-sequence from the final act. No need to watch Kongthap struggle with the loss of Atom's love for him in an anxiety-induced dream brought on by the idea of being separated by college and Kongthap finally realizing why he's so scared of being separated, when Kongthap seemingly no longer struggles with understanding his emotions and feelings.

And I think what hurts the most is that there were plenty of scenes in the second half that showed they were capable of being dramatic or serious the whole time. The train scene where Atom was leaving Bangkok and they both realized they didn't want to part and the accapella version of the main theme swelled in the background was SO GOOD.

It just highlighted how poorly the writing team handled the part of the series that was a remake of the jp version, and by the time they got to the parts not made in live action before, it was too late because the groundwork was not there to support the growth and change of the characters.

(Also I'm sad they didn't include the bit where Aoki learns Ida is actually younger than him on his birthday. Its a small gag that I thought Thailand would absolutely jump on)

(Also did Atom ever tell Mudmee that he had a crush on her before it became Kongthap? I think the fact I can't remember kinda just proves my point of this whole post.)

I can't believe MSP is over. It has been such a long journey full of laughter, tears, smiles, friendship and ofc love. I have graduated high school a few years ago but the finale of MSP brought back a lot of nostalgia. The prom, the signing on your friend's uniforms, anticipation for the future, knowing that even if you graduate, it's not the end and the people that matter will always be right here next to you. I am so grateful to Gemini and Fourth for giving us the best TinnGun we could have ever had and to tiw and Chinzhilla being the best emotional support friendship group anyone could have ever asked for. Though it is indeed a farewell rn, MSP will always be a precious show to me and I hope to see everyone in Our Skyy2 soon (I need more Tiwpor and more boyfie moments with TinnGun)😭🤍

Ok so I read a tweet on my for you page(an account I don't follow) that was saying that they didn't want Last Twilight and OF to air at the same time and end up the same as the NLMG and MSP situation, and I didn't get what they meant right away so I looked in the comments and from there I gathered they meant they didn't want OF to overshadow LT like msp did for NLMG, also with promotion and all that(wich fair msp got a lot more promotion, tho I believe it did cuz of it's popularity) and how even if it is a Aof show JimmySea are in it so it's gonna be less promoted like VV, also saying waiting for a year for a show(Last Twilight) for it to be beaten by nepo babies??? what nepo babies! my boys in OF deserve all the recognition! they didn't stay in the gmm basement for 4 years to be classified as nepo babies!(all Khao First and Neo!) and to be honest FB never got that much promotion ever and Mark has a lot of talent and deserve the spotlight!

I am waiting for Last Twilight cuz it seems it's gonna be an emotional and I trospective show and I love that! it would also help JS to broaden their acring talents so I am waiting for it but you can't fault another show for the failing of the one you liked the best, and back on the NLMG MSP topic I'll be onest I only finished MSP, I have yet to finish NLMG, but I was already liking MSP more, it was the right show at the right time, but I believe NLMG fail was due also to poor time management from GMM tho the show didn't get me that much and I am sorry cuz I onestly like PPW but this one wasn't it even if it's fans are hell bent on it being the best show gmm ever produced wich sorry no it wasn't to me at least, and please don't take it on FK, cuz we know it's them they refer too when they talk about OF not ForceBook not NeoMark FirstKhao! it has been like this since MLC and I am tired of them being the scapegoat every time they are 2 or the nicest and kindest people ever and they deserve the success

I am still so pressed for the NepoBabies! I get that Pond and Puwin are being neglected on some capacities, especially during NLMG aring time compared to MSP but if you compare it to some other shows, the lakorns, they got a lot more promotion compared to the Warp Effect(the superior Jojo show for this year for me!) or 10 year tikets, and if we are gonna be onest people that tuned in for MSP at the beginning did it to shit on it all new cast and highschool? it could have been a recepie for disaster but it turned out so nice! is it the masterpiece it's say it is? for me no but it is a very enjoiable show, NLMG on the other hand worken on the paper it was a new interesting premice and the cast seemed good but at the end to me something went wrong and made it less interesting to me, and a lot more people like the overly sweet and silly shows a lot more than the weird class invalance with some sort of conspiracy plot in the background

this ask make no sense lol sorry I just needed to express my feelings, also NLMG fans are a bit too much for my taste, and also of course they would be pressed at the idea of LT and OF airing together, but I feel like people could be more in tune with the sad but heartwarming story of the blind and the delinquent than the messy promiscuos friend group think of JimWen and HeartLiMing! the teens stole the spotlight for a lot of fans! and OF already got a lot of shit for just the trailer amd the fact that they openly talk about sex! tho I have to say imagine if LT aired with Cooking Crush? then it's gonna be an OF show that people have been sold on since day one just cuz they are back on a new series when they said Not Me was the last one! there are more shit to worry about and stop trying to start a fight for real! just enjoy the show and if you like a show or a cp more just hipe it more instead of trying to bring down other shows or cps

Sorry for the long tangent about NLMG MSP Last Twilight and OF, I didn't mean to bring negativity on your page I swear! I just didn't want to create drama on twitter... I just don't like disrespecting actors, after all you can dislike a show it is in your rights fuck I dislike some well loved shows, both asian and western, but I never disrespect the actors playing in it!(unless this people are pieces of shit! then I am allowed to criticize them!) After all I might have different opinions on both NLMG and MSP from the majority but I never really expressed them or I wasn't ever disrespectful to the cast! and considering that First and Khao(my babies🧡) and Neo, Mark, Force and Book are all in OF and I really like all of them tho I am biased towards FK and Neo I get a bit defensive and after all the shit we went trough during MLC I am afraid FK are becoming the black sheep of gmm cps!

The only reason why MSP overshadowed NLMG was that MSP was clearly the better show lmao and depending on how LT and OF will turn out, it could be a similar situation IF they air at the same time. I mostly agree with your takes on MSP and and NLMG; I got annoyed with MSP and its over-promotion towards the end but it was still far better than NLMG lol. But I won't go into that again.

I'm pretty sure OF will get a good amount of promotion and people will definitely go crazy over it; it's one of the most anticipated shows of the year afterall. I'm expecting LT to get a big following as well but if there is a crossover with OF, the chances of an overshadowing are high. Whether that will be deserving or not remains to be seen. But then again, I'm pretty sure LT will be one of the last shows to air from the lineup anyway.

How popular a show will be and how it will resonate with the audience is very unpredictable in general. f.ex. I never expected people to go this crazy over a high school BL when MSP started airing lol but apparently going back to the basics still works for the majority. MLC was on the polar opposite end of the spectrum as it had a completely different approach and attracted a different kind of audience but in the end, it also gained more popularity than I expected. The Warp Effect on the other hand had everything that a good show needs, it did everything right and was a genius contemporary production through and through but people didn't care one bit. I expected it to go through the roof (it should have) but it never did. And I will never understand why. But that's how it goes.

About FK: To say they're becoming the black sheep of gmmtv is taking it a bit far imo lmao I don't think that's what's happening. Some people were pressed about them overshadowing EM in MLC and there may be a group of people who will say the same about OF but let's just wait and see how it goes. No need to get stressed about something that hasn't happened yet 😉

Bed Friend Ep 2

I really enjoyed this episode. I was entertained the whole time, not once did I feel bored or cringed, I was interested in the story all the time, I didn’t feel the need to skip scenes, my thoughts did not drift away (which is what I feel when watching like 90% of BL series ngl).

I really like the vibe of this series, especially the approach to sex, especially in the 2nd episode, which is treated very naturally by King and by Uea (once he knows he can be free). In Bed Friends, sex is not associated with the feelings of shame, guilt, also religious restrictions, validation of sex depending on whether or not it’s related to love. It’s abvious that King has a major crush on Uea and Uea is also not indifferent to King and they will end up as a couple in love, but right now, they really start as friends with benefits. I loved, how they behaved in this episode, how King assured Uea that there is nothing wrong with what they did and what they are going to do, that they can have fun, that Uea can be sexually free but at the same time without bringing King, Uea, their relationship to the “toxic relationship of two immoral people” (as is always shown in movies and series when it comes to sex without love). Their relationship is treated as normal without judging whether their sex is "pure", meaning “good and socialy acceptable”.

I liked that they talk to each other, apologize to each other, that King is open and honest, also that he asks what Uea wants and waits for his permission. I like Uea's stone face and his micro-smiles and micro-expressions 🥰 I like how King is completely whipped for Uea. And how Uea wants to submit to King and how much he fights it :) I like King's confidence and how cool and chill he is. I love Uea's quiet inner strength and how it's obvious he struggles to maintain it on a daily basis and how much he longs to be able to lean on someone. 🥺 I liked the scene with the Mother-That-Sucks: it’s very psychologically logical for Uea to behave like this, as a victim of dmestic abuse, that is still under parent’s emotional control. King behaved very well, he was polite, he didn't make a scene, he didn't push and embarrass Uea, who was probably dying inside seeing that King witnessed what his mother was like. I know he did great, because I felt so many murderous impulses watching this scene :/

Visually, the series is well done, Uea and King are the epitome of the term eye candy 🧁🍬, I really enjoy looking at them :) The opening song is the first BL intro song EVER I actually like (wait, wait! There’s also Free Fall, how could I forget KP??? so, ok, it’s the second one). Also, the series played some music here and there, that seems like brought from European discos from the 90s :D So cute!

I hope that the series will keep this quality until the end, like MSP ;)

Little Disclaimer: I haven’t watched Vice Versa nor A Tale of Thousand Stars

1. A Boss and A Babe

I know this is an unpopular opinion and I am probably the only one who would put this to the top, but I realllyyy enjoyed their episodes. It was funny, it was cheesy, it was great. I liked how the issue was external so that we had them both working with each other to grow as people and I also liked how we got a glimpse on how great they are post canon. They were the healthiest couple. 10/10 would rewatch

2. The Eclipse

apart from the fact that I am completely biased about them Everyone will agree with me when I say that they had the most realistic portrayal as a couple. Did I like the little "how could you forget my birthday" plotline? Not really, but I was 100% sure that Aye was just pretending, so it wasn't that angsty for me anyway. I simply enjoyed seeing them on my screen again. ~ kissy kissy chu chu~ 9/10

3. Never Let Me Go

I think we can all agree that their plot was the best. It was totally unique and kind of unbelievable, but man, I was totally into it. I love seeing a pair team up to tackle a problem, and this one had just the right mix of drama, humor, and romance. It was everything I could ask for. Again I like to see a pair working together to solve a problem. 8/10

4. Bad Buddy x A Tale of Thousand Stars

I was soooo unsure about this, but you know what? I ended up enjoying it way more than I expected, even though I didn't really know the chief and the teacher. Bad buddy holds a special place in my heart, so I was just stoked to see them again. It was kinda sad though, 'cause most of the time in the village they didn't feel like a couple to me, more like BFFs. And they spent way too much time apart, which was a bummer. But even without having seen ATOTS, I gotta say their storyline and chemistry were on point. Their scenes got sooo romantic towards the end, it actually got me emotional, despite not knowing them at all. ATOTS kinda overshadowed BB for me for the romantic aspect. 7/10

5. Star in my Mind // My School President

I found both plots to be very lacking. MSP got me very excited the very first few mins as I got to relieve some great moments but then I quickly became bored again. There were some changes but I wasn’t really invested in it. I think I would have preferred a post canon story of their university lives or something similar. Also, I think I am getting really critical here but Fourth as Tinn wasn’t really believable while Gemini actually did a great job in my opinion, nevertheless I found them in their respective roles much better. I would have spend the time rewatching MSP rather than the OS2 episodes as we don’t really miss out on anything anyway.

SIMM was actually just a fluff party. The plot was nonexistent but they were cute enough. I am questioning their chemistry though and I was not doing this while watching the actual show, so I guess it did some damage to me regarding the characters. 5/10

So it was...unexpected? I mean I love G4. I loved the original MSP yes. I also love the idea of the our skyy Eps.. but.. I expected more??

I don't know how to tell u but I did. More kisses more emotions. Something with meaning with growth. I wanted them in Uni. (Forth in a tie like at the end omg)

Good thing is that they gave us TiwsonPor!! Jess!! More if them! Also SoundWin is my fav! God I love SantangWinnie sm!!

Also the MV was hilarious?? Like them playing other characters like PatPran haha. That was a nice idea.

So not my fav eps from our skyy..maybe I expected to much..but it was cute ngl.

Hopefully we see those guys soon again (rooting for Uni season 2 still..)

This is just me giving my unneeded opinions. This is all relatively at face value btw.

NLMG: 7/10

Would never expect anything else from the doomed delusional lovers. I honestly really loved Palm in particular in this. Would’ve loved more context for background characters (aka why the fuck is Marc there) but I liked watching them work together a helping others again. Otherwise was good.

SIMM: 4/10

They dragged it too much for my liking. Cute but highly annoying by the time we reached like the end of ep 1. Would’ve been better with just one ep or if they also did sky in your heart. It would’ve been nice to see Prince and Fah again. Also robbed of Sean and Maitee

The Eclipse: 6/10

I think khaofirst’s chemistry saved this. I loved seeing them all together but AkkAyan’s emotional constipation is showing and isn’t solving idk. I also would like to know why they uncomfortably suggested a relationship between Wat and Teacher Sani. Like I know they’re out of school but still. Neo is still gorgeous as ever and Thua still gets on my nerves.

Vice Versa: 7/10

I think the main reason I liked this a lot was cause the lack of product placement. I thought it was actually super cute and I loved Puen and Talay taking care of a child together. I don’t think that would be legal though but yknow. Also I’d love to understand the thought process of giving your nephew to your friends to solve their marriage problems. But apart from that honestly I actually enjoyed it.

MSP: 8/10

I’m too biased to make a legitimate opinion on this so I’ll save my breath. I thought it was a great a idea to swap and I really think they delivered tbh. I just think though that the original series nailed the casting cause as much as I love fourth playing Tinn he just couldn’t nail it like Gemini. This applies the other way around although I do think Gemini did a slightly better job at playing Gun. Literally only problem I have was that it was little awkward.

That and that fucking bullfrog song getting stuck in my head at worst possible times.

ABAAB: 7/10

I understand the timing of it airing but that was cruel to put it in between MSP and BB like cmon. Because a boss and a babe is great and actually the our skyy was pretty damn good considering everything. Gun needs to chill though this man. Also I don’t think I’ll ever get over how cute Zo is. Like if I was Thi I would also treat him the same way he’s so cute. But it really did feel like a nice little special (two) episode, it was nice.

Bad Buddy and ATOTS: 8/10

I am also too biased here to give a stable opinion. This fed all my dreams and more. I loved the parallels both to themselves and also across shows. I understand how phupha and tian are a lot more emotionally constipated than patpran my gosh. But honestly I really loved it despite its rush. They did however spend way too long lost. Like they could’ve fit a bit more character development in those times but I guess you gotta make up the budget so.

Overall thoughts:

giving many 7/10 but honestly most of these were just simply good. Not mind boggling great but I wasn’t disappointed.

Obviously pretty much all of these were rushed and half baked in some sort of way but that was expected considering it’s only two episodes and they’re trying to cater to headcanons and fan service at the end of the day. The callbacks and domesticity of the shows is pretty evident of that.

Overall it was fine to be honest. It was relatively true the way the characters are and it gave us just that extra bit people would like. I can’t complain about being given exactly what I was expecting.

I can’t wait to see all of the actors again!!!

I love your thoughts on Caryl. I have a couple of questions for you. 1) Do you think there will be a significant shift in their relationship by the end of 11B? We need something to chew on during that last break. 2) I am scared they will gloss over Caryl's season and a half struggle with their friendship and not give us that much needed talk or at least not give it the screentime it deserves. Will they do them justice? 3) When do you think we will see Carol outwardly being jealous of Daryl's perceived feelings for Connie?

I'm going to answer these a little out of order so it's easier for everyone to follow along with my train of thought lol.

2) I do think they are going to circle back and let Caryl have their on-screen big talk instead of sweeping it offscreen. Despite what some reviewers thought, they do NOT in any sense of the word seem back to normal and have forgotten everything that's transpired between them since season 9; IMO Caryl both appeared unsure and tentative around each other during 11x10 where neither fully wants to test out the waters so instead they stick to putting on the front that it's all fine. Taking it a step further with Carol her obvious lack of feeling settled is showcased again when she talks with Ezekial where - even before the mention of Henry - her eyes continue to fall and become distant before snapping back every few seconds as she give a well-known fake smile. What I'm trying to get at is the choice to continue their mutual insecurities with each other on top of making them apparent to the GA feels like the perfect build-up to a moment of "look, we need to f**king talk". If Kang wanted us to not care about what's going on between them then the easiest and simplest choice would be to have them just be normal, but that's not what we're getting. She's giving us build-up and I'm ready and waiting for the payoff. Whether it does them justice leads more into the other questions so I'll go into it there.

1) Unless Angela is planning on having Caryl go into the spin-off like a couple of grade-schoolers wondering "does he really want to talk to me?" or "oh no, she blinked 2 times that must mean she's mad" then there absolutely has to be a shift in their relationship as it is now. Dragging this out for another 8 episode block would be simply asinine since if for some reason she wants to hold off and make it an even bigger event, there's a perfect opportunity in the second MSF, though I don't see them letting it go that long. Most likely the talk between Caryl will happen in the episode of 2 before the MSF which gives the writers plenty of time to place them in an emotional "what now" phase after releasing their deepest, darkest secrets and just before another fan-favorite plot twist gets thrown in which will have them one/both fearing for the other or if they waited too long. Thus once the threat is defeated after the MSP they are perfectly free to let Kang lead them up to tying into their spin-off. ( I hope this all made sense lol)

3) Honestly I don't know if we'll see an outwardly jealous Carol in the traditional sense. It's not her style IMO. I do think she'll continue pushing Daryl towards Connie in an effort to let him have what she thinks he should because in her head she's always had such a low view of herself and thinking she's not what anyone would truly want or deserve. Though it's this pushing that I feel will cause Daryl to finally snap and be the one to start whatever catharsis we'll get between them. He's done it several times since Kang has taken over (the "we have a future", their talk inside the cave, the "find me" fight, pretty much all of s10 okay), laying the path for his character to once again reach a point of voicing how he truly feels to Carol.

Wow, that spec for 15x08 went quick! Although if Cas dies, it would be a good way to plot him meeting up with Jack, Billie, and the Empty (who are acting as the non Chuck-controlled TWF 2.0) (TWF 2.5, 3.0???)

Yeah so basically here is how I think it will all go down. Accepting the fact that this is wild speculation but I will explain WHY I think this will be the case.

1. We know Chuck wants a Sam and Dean against the world story. He is purposely totally ignoring Cas. The working theory (which I am in the middle of writing still because I am useless) is that Cas doesn’t exist in any of Sam’s vision worlds because they are what would have happened in the OG world had Cas not been around to basically play spanner in the works.

2. We have not yet seen Jack (the absolute spanner in the works and source of Chuck’s biggest fear - being replaced) or Billie, or the Empty Entity, since the end of season 14. They will most definitely be coming back into the story soon.

3. Dean’s prayer in episode 9 involves confessions, tears, and some bruised egos. We know Cas hears it, but that Dean is alone when he prays. Something prompts this desperation in Dean to the point he needs to pray to Cas. We know that before this, they hadn’t resolved their issues.

4. Chuck’s script so far only contains Sam and Dean. Once again Castiel is off the page. He isn’t controlled like they are (or that is what I got from 15x06 anyway). So Sam and Dean are no longer parts of “Team Free Will” in the sense that Chuck has at least somewhat robbed them of it (though not completely as I don’t think he has that power).

Right. So for these elements to all add up somehow, the way I see it we need a reason to link back to Jack, Billie, and the Empty Entity. We also need a big cliffhanger at the end of the Mid Season Finale as we usually get. We need something emotional enough to happen that it triggers an intimate prayer confession from Dean in the Mid Season Premiere. We need Chuck to think that he has got the upper hand at least for a time - by isolating Sam and Dean and forcing them to play out his story no doubt.

We know that Adam comes back (either as Adam or OG Michael we don’t yet know.) My money is on this being part of Chuck’s big ending to get the boys to kill each other (I am also absolutely terrified that this means Lucifer may return though I really hope that every other writer bitchslapped Eugenie Ross Leming when she inevitably pitched such utter nonsense. We shall see).

So here’s how I would write this story:

Cas and Sam return with some idea on how they can overpower Chuck. Dean, having come to terms with some home truths in 15x07 will try to connect with Cas but Cas will give him the cold shoulder (and hopefully be a sassy bitch all episode). As far as unlikely allies go I’m think Amara will join the Winchesters team. I would also love it if this is when we get Rowena back in all her might as Queen of Hell since no doubt she would have gained power and respect from the demons quickly). 

Chuck will get pissed and bring back OG Michael from the cage, forcing them all to fight and face off. Right at the end I have an inkling that something will happen which causes Cas to step out to protect/save the boys, and Chuck will say some snarky comment about how he used to like Cas, but he got too close to his main characters (I would love for some meta commentary here and bronly shade - a girl can dream). Then he dead ass looks Cas in the eye and says “as I told you once before, you’re not in this story.” and smites Cas.

Cas drops down dead with burnt out eyes and Sam and Dean look on in utter horror - ideally here we would get one very important confirmation - that CAS and his own choices were real and not manipulated by Chuck. So Dean gets one answer. Chuck has managed to also send all their other allies away and smugly boasts about how they better stick to his script before he disappears.

The MSF ends with Sam and Dean alone, without allies, and with Castiel lying dead at their feet.

The MSP will begin with Cas in the Empty, woken up by Jack and the Empty entity who have been having a nice long chat with Billie - who knew Cas would be coming soon. She says something like “this is the only place we can actually talk without Chuck being able to overhear. So welcome. We are operation take down God.” or something. Cas and Jack have a tearful reunion and through some supernatural means it is revealed that they have a connection to Earth again. It is through this connection that Cas is able to hear Dean’s prayer. It’s all very emotional. But they can’t focus on that right now. They need to plot to take Chuck out, and now Cas is with them as part of that team.

So let me know what you think. This is all my brainstorming coming out about how I would write these episodes because I feel like Cas has to go to the Empty to meet Jack again and get caught up with the plan (which for some more wild spec I believe will be to trap Chuck the same way he trapped Amara and replace him with Jack.)

I DON’T think Castiel’s Empty deal will be the reason he next goes to the Empty, because Cas won’t ever be truly happy without his son alive. Even if he reunites with Dean and gets a proper sappy love confession from him. He needs to have the whole package and I actually don’t think we are going to follow through on that story now, I think it’s more likely that the Empty Entity will agree to release him from his deal if he agrees to fix all this nonsense so he can go back to sleep once its all done and dusted.

I think Chuck will smite him to get him out of the way. 

Buuut this is all wild speculation guys so take with a pinch of salt. (Though remember that I was right about the last time Cas died! If it makes narrative sense for a thing to happen, it’s likely that thing will happen. Even if all the circumstances around it are totally different to what I speculated.)

@romancedeldiablo just reminded me the entire cybersecurity/information security industry is having the greatest field days ever since this whole Covid-19 triggered a mass work from home exodus.

I have so much to say about it and all the security issues that are occurring. This mostly pertains to the US. This isn’t meant to scare anyone, they’re just food for thought and a bit of explanation about my industry.

PSA: Not all hackers are bad, just a reminder. There are very legitimate reasons for hacking such as compliance and research. When I talk about hackers here, I’m talking about the bad ones who are exploiting without permission and for malicious reasons.

The main thing about this whole working from home thing is that most organizations don’t have the infrastructure to support their entire workforce. Not every company uses Google Drive or OneDrive or DropBox.

This means that companies with on-premise servers, isolated servers or networks are screwed. Imagine trying to connect to your friend’s computer who lives on the other side of the world and controlling their mouse. Can’t do it. Gotta download something on both ends to do it. Now imagine that for 500 people at home who are trying to connect to a single server. You’d need to open that server/network up to the internet. That has its own risks because without controlling WHO can access the server, you’re basically allowing anyone (hackers especially) to go in and take all your data.

But then you ask, “Isn’t that what passwords are for?” BITCH look at your own passwords. Do you really think 500 people will have passwords strong enough to withstand a rainbow table attack or that the server won’t shit itself when receiving 500 connections from unknown locations by means of a not-often used method? Hackers only need to exploit one password (for the most part) while the company needs to ensure ALL 500 are protected. That’s difficult as all hell and if it were that easy, I wouldn’t have a job.

Then there’s shit like Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and RADIUS servers that’ll secure the network connection so it can’t be hijacked and do authentication respectively. Here’s the problem. VPN solutions need to be downloaded on the client system (your computer). When your organization has very technically illiterate people, that becomes a nightmare. ‘Cause you have to set up their accounts on the VPN system and set the permissions for each of them so they can only access what they’re allowed to access otherwise Bob from sales now has access to the HR system with everyone’s social security numbers. It’s very time consuming and can get very complicated. Even worse is that VPNs often require licenses. When you only have 50 licenses and suddenly 500 people want access, you’re screwed. But you can always purchase more licenses, no problem. Here’s the rub. Suddenly, this VPN tunnel needs to accept connections from 500 people. This tunnel is only strong enough to accept 50 concurrent sessions. When 10x that amount get on, guess what? The tunnel shits itself and basically the company has DoS’d itself. Now no one can get any work done until IT figures out how to get 500 people on a system that’s only capable of supporting 50.

Fuck, almost forgot about RADIUS. There’s DIAMETER, too, but shut up about it. It’s an authentication system but depending on how it’s set up, you’ll have to also set up the users. That’s an extra step and it’s a pain in the ass if RADIUS somehow isn’t connected to AD and the user has different passwords and shit.

Not to mention hackers suddenly gaining access to all this information because they’ve already infected people’s home computers and routers prior to the work from home stuff. There’s very limited way for IT to control what happens on a personal computer, so these personal computers can have no anti-virus or security software. This means all data is in danger because someone decided Windows Defender is annoying. (Windows Defender is pretty great, btw.)

Physical robberies are occurring a little more because there’s no one to protect the stores and such. Physical security is taking a hell of a beating.

There’s been an increase in phishing scams around COVID-19. Unemployment sites are probably being (and probably already have been) hacked and the data is being stolen. I think there were some people who were creating fake unemployment sites to steal PII. There are e-mails going out to people saying stuff like, “Your computer has been infected with the CORONAVIRUS. Click here to clean it up.” And you’re wondering, “What sort of morons…?” Don’t. It’s very easy to give in to your panic. Hackers don’t hack computers solely. They hack into human emotion, into the psyche. Anyone can fall for their shit.

The thing with Zoom? Basically they’re so insecure, people are hacking them without issue. How? Because people are silly and put out links, chat logs are saved onto insecure machines that have already been hacked, there are a bunch of exploits available for Zoom, etc.

Healthcare organizations. Oh boy. So, we all know healthcare organizations are working their damnedest to save people suffering from COVID-19. Every second counts and any delay in that process could mean life or death. They work hard. Here’s the thing. There has always been a delicate balance between security and usability. Too secure and it’ll make it difficult for the end user to do their job. Usable without security just makes it easier for an attacker to do their job. Why am I talking about this?

Healthcare organizations usually hold sensitive information. Health information. Social security numbers. Birth dates. Addresses. Insurance information. Family member information. So much stuff. They are a beautiful target for hackers because all that shit is right there and it’s accessible. Healthcare organizations, by and large, do not put a lot of emphasis on security. That’s changing a bit, but for the most part, the don’t care about security. They do the bare minimum because guess what? Every additional control can add time to a doctor or healthcare worker’s routine. Computer lockscreen every 5 minutes? Now the doctor has to re-logon every 5 minutes. This adds about 15 seconds to their rountine. Multiply that several times over for every patient that comes in assuming a doctor will need to log in at least 3 times during a single visit. That can clock in at at least an hour throughout the day. A hour that they could’ve spent doing something else. So imagine more controls. Password needs to be reset. Need to badge in. Log into this extra program to access this file. Call IT because this thing locked them out. Each one of these normal controls now feel insanely restrictive. The ease of use isn’t there and so organizations might look at reversing these security controls, potentially making things even less secure than before in the name of efficiency.

Don’t @ me about HIPAA. I will start rants about how non-prescriptive and ineffective it is to actually get proper security implemented.

LOL @ internet service providers. Internet speeds are dropping due to the amount of traffic they’re getting. Commercial internet really wasn’t prepared for this. Those poor bastards.

Some organizations outsource their IT teams. Those people (Managed Service Providers aka MSPs) are not prepared for this nonsense. It’s popular now to go after these guys for hacking. An MSP usually works for multiple organizations. So, why try going after 50 organizations individually when you have just one organization with poor security controls managing everything from one place? You’d logically go after the one rather than 50. It’s easier.

MSPs are now overworked because they also have to work from home to connect to systems that can’t support so many people connecting to it on personal computers that the MSP can’t log into like they normally would to fix any issues. This makes them tired. What happens when you’re tired? You make more mistakes. And that’s exactly what hackers go after. Once they’re in the MSP’s system, the hacker can now potentially gain access to the 50 clients’ systems. Easy win.

Shadow IT and alternate solutions. This is another doozy. Imagine all your files and shit are on your company’s network. No one is able to access it because there isn’t any VPN or remote sharing system or FTP server set up for this stuff, but you still need to do your job. So, what do you do? Obviously, you start making stuff on your own computer using whatever you’re comfortable with. Google Drive. Dropbox. Box. Slack. That shitty PDF reader you downloaded three years ago and didn’t update.

Now imagine sharing it through things like your personal e-mail which may or may not have been hacked without your knowledge. Or maybe the recipient’s been hacked without anyone’s knowledge. Maybe your files are normally encrypted if they’re on the company network. Now you’re off of it and nothing’s encrypted. Maybe you forget it delete a file or 80 off of your system which has been infected. Or maybe you pasted shit on pastebin or github and it’s available to the public because that’s just easier. Now anyone searching can find it. This is how database dumps are found sometimes and they’re really entertaining.

Shadow IT putting in alternate solutions without the company’s knowledge is always a fucking nightmare. I get that people need to do their jobs and want to do things a certain way, but can you not be selfish and put everyone at risk because you decided your way or the high way?

That sounds awfully familiar…it feels like a situation that we’re going through right now…hey, wait a minute…

Long story short, this whole working from home thing opens up a lot of security issues. Most companies are ill-equipped to handle IT issues, let alone cybersecurity/information security/IT security issues, but because of that, we’re seeing a lot of interesting things happening. Such as finding out New Jersey’s unemployment system runs on a 60+ year old programming language.

Holy shit I can talk about this all day. I’ve definitely glossed over a lot of stuff and oversimplified it. If anyone wants me to talk about any specific topic related to this or cybersecurity or information security in general, drop an ask. I’m always, always more than happy to talk about it.

It really is a microcosm of my feelings toward the show from the MSP of Season 5 through AK’s takeover as show runner.

So.  My DVR decided I needed to watch Tyreese's last episode again (damn you, DVR, I didn't set you to record anything TWD--at least not 'til next week), and I'm tearing up as I'm typing this--for reasons.  But you know what else?  I'm also angry and I'll tell you why (prepare yourself because I'm probably going to ramble and not make much sense).

You know I am, lol. 

 What Happened and What's Going On is an emotional episode for me.  Not necessarily because Ty's a particular favorite.  I liked him well enough and Chad did some wonderful work with Melissa and Kyla and Brighton.  Sonequa, too.  But I can't say I've watched the show FOR him, you know?  Anyway.  It's emotional for me because at this point, they've been fighting for just a chance and his acceptance of and the relief he feels about his own end, riding off with Beth and Bob and the girls just gets to me.  Honestly?  It's too easy to imagine giving in to that feeling should I find myself in comparable dark circumstances and I don't know what that says about me (that I'm only human, maybe?), but I digress.  That's not the topic that compelled me to compose this post. 

 It's the feeling that TWD cheated me out of some important emotional beats. 

 Don't get me wrong.  I found this episode very affecting.  Almost beautiful in some parts and definitely haunting in its use of music and Ty's 'visions.' 

 But. 

 Did we see how his loss affected Sasha? 

 Not really.  I mean.  She's only his sister and apparently it wasn't important to show us her immediate reaction to the news.  Forget the depression she's obviously suffering from in episodes after this one.  She should have been there. 

 And Carol.  I know she's not family, but she was a big part of his story and she's not even in the episode.  Not really.  The only other person that really knows the terrible secret that weighs on both of their souls just died and we don't get any fallout?  Seriously? 

 This show takes the cruelty of this life they're trying to eke out to another level and robs their loved ones of their last moments.  Their last goodbyes.

 Listen.  I realize it's not wrapped up in a pretty neat bow in RL either, but this is a television show that wants us to care about these characters' connections with each other.  And it keeps cheating us out of the connections that matter the most.
