What has been happening in the world of motorsports lately?
(it's very long again, so the roundup is under the cut)
Franco Colapinto becomes a new Williams driver for the last 9 races of the season, Logan Sargeant was dropped with immediate effect
apparently Franco found out on Monday only and he knows he won’t get the seat in 2025 because Carlos has already been confirmed
as a result, Oliver Goethe moves up from F3 to F2 immediately with MP Motorsport in Franco’s place and Noah Stromsted drove in his place in F3 for Campos in the last race of the season in Monza
also gentle (not so gentle) reminder that Roman Staněk was with Trident for the last race weekend in Monza and everything after is uncertain for him
the whole story is: he has two main sponsors, one of them is his own father who decided to stop supporting him, so he can no longer afford it, he got an offer for 2025 from DAMS, but they ask for € 4.7 mil
Roman got replaced by Christian Mansell for the rest of the season (he is not related to Nigel btw) in Trident
Zak O’Sullivan is in a similar situation, Monza was his last race because of funding issues despite being a part of Williams driving academy, he got replaced by Luke Browning from F3
And on top of that, there are rumours that Richard Vershoor is also unhappy in the team and looking for a way out
Also since Kevin the icon he is, got a race ban for Baku, Ollie will step up for him and Gabriele Mini from F3 will fill in for Ollie in Prema to create an all Italian lineup for Italian team
Leo Fornaroli is stepping up to F2 with Invicta Racing next year
Ferrari announced a new technical structure: Loic Serra (technical director chassis), Fabio Montecchi (chassis project engineering), Marco Adurno (vehicle performance), Diego Tondi (aero), Matteo Togninalli (track engineering) and Diego Ioverno (sporting director and head of chassis operations), Enrico Gualtieri (power unit division)
Safety car crashed in Parabolica during a high speed test before Monza but both driver and passenger are ok and there was also another safety car ready if they are needed during the race weekend (what is concerning is a message I saw somewhere about it potentially being a brake failure)
apparently drivers were not very happy with the changes in Monza track and discussed it in length in the WhatsApp group, their main issue was that these track modifications are not communicated with drivers beforehand
last week George did Pirelli testing for Mercedes and Liam Lawson for Red Bull and Ollie did a wet weather test for Ferrari
also did you know Ollie has a younger brother who will race in EURO F4 in Spielberg
Lenovo becomes F1’s global partner, so they will have naming rights for 2 races in 2025
Pato O’Ward will be driving in an FP1 session in Mexico for McLaren
Williams started their Komatsu-Williams Engineering Academy for young talents
Maya Weug joined 7th round of FRECA in Imola with KIC Motorsport
Newey joined Aston Martin, so expect them to have big psychological advantage (they had a press con to announce it, he spoke about wanting to work with either Lewis or Fernando, he spoke about British bias and how it was involved in Abu Dhabi 2021…, he will start working for them early in 2025, he will also become a shareholder in the team with more rights than other teams could offer him besides being a leader of technical division)
Lawrence will apparently pay him massive amount of money (rumour has it it is Eddie Jordan who is asking for a big pay check for himself and many teams said no to that), after Newey and de la Rosa and Honda, he is also looking to sign Max Verstappen (and there is a possibility to get him in the team, Lance could head to WEC instead) – next thing you know he will also sign Christian Horner and Checo Perez to have a full RBR
Nico Rosberg, Guenther Steiner (and somebody else I freaking forgot, maybe Ted Kravitz) spoke about neither Kimi nor George having their seat secure for 2026, because Toto Wolff is still eyeing any opportunity to sign Max Verstappen
The team also sold stakes in the team to HPS and Accel
All teams were in compliance of the cost cap rules for 2023, BUT Honda and Alpine were found of procedural breech (aka none of them spent more money on catering, but these two made a mistake sort of not submitting the paperwork on time or filled incorrectly…)
Ella Lloyd is the wildcard entry for F1 Academy’s race weekend in Singapore
Red Bull junior academy signed Christopher Feghali, Ernesto Rivera, Rocco Coronel and Jules Caranta
Not only is the situation messy in junior series, it is also kinda messy in FE (Nato stays with Nissan while Fenestraz is out, Wehrlein and da Costa stay with Porsche, Günther will drive for DS Penske…)
Rumouredly, Val received an offer from Audi for one year, he was asking for more – at least 1+1 deal, besides him Binotto has Bortoleto highest on his list (and Theo Pourchaire further down the list) with McLaren potentially letting him go from their junior program if Audi wants him
Zak Brown spoke about the papaya rules shit and said how they will probably back Lando now because he is in mathematical contention for the title and Oscar will help him however he can and whatnot
Fun fact: in rally Greece, Seb Ogier spoke shit about Thierry Neuville that the “championship leader is not that fast) and then he crashed and Thierry won
For the first time ever, 4 women finished inside top 10 in NASCAR
James Vowles would apparently like Ferrari to release Carlos early so he could join them for post season test in Abu Dhabi
Santander is officially out of Ferrari with Unicredit taking their place and instead, they will become the partner of F1
Hyundai is ending in WRC next year and they would rumouredly like to join WEC
Ferrari Challenge will be a supporting series for the Las Vegas F1 GP
According to Ted Kravitz, Liam Lawson could be replacing Daniel as soon as for this weekend (that goes along what James Vowles said about trying to sign Liam for the rest of the season but Red Bull not wanting to let him go since they might need him for at least 3 races this season)
Nico the professional shit-stirrer he is, claimed that he got an offer in his e-mail inbox to buy Alpine for 1 billion dollars
Another fun fact: Ferrari already collected more points than they did for the whole season last year
Red Bull is running their engines on lower modes due to reliability concerns (part of the reason why Max had the lowest speed of all in a speed trap during the Monza GP)
All front wings are under compliance with the technical rules as per FIA (clarification that apparently Red Bull and Ferrari asked for, especially taking McLaren and Mercedes into consideration)
There is a funky feud for racing number 12 going on behind the scenes with Doohan asking for it first publicly and Mercedes asking for it for Kimi even before “secretly”, so now both teams are waiting for the result
This was meant to go into one of the previous roundups but F1 is talking to the teams to see if after season rookie race would be possible for them, which could give opportunity especially to driver who won junior series but never got into the sport
McLaren signed a sponsorship deal with NTT Data for their F1 Academy team
Also rumours and gossip from my fave source: Red Bull hired Rob Wilson to help Checo Perez get his lost form back (he is basically an observer, watches you drive and then gives you a long list of stuff you need to improve to get faster)
Williams got Globant sponsorship deal thanks to signing Franco for the rest of the season
Due to sustainability concerns, F1 might combine Canada and Miami to be a double header
There are also rumours that Ferrari tried to sign GP as a race engineer for Lewis next year
Non-sport fun
Oscar posted from a cockpit of a plane with a funny caption and then deleted because he posted it on 11th September
Max, Lando and Nico flew together to Baku for some reason
Charles won the karting marathon with his friends for LC8 team, spoke at yacht conferences and predicted weather
Lewis was sat with Noah Lyles and Anna Wintour at US open which is honestly kinda iconic
Charles and Goerge met up with Domenicali at what might be Briatore’s yacht party???
I just found out Kimi Antonelli’s girlfriend is from Czechia thanks to my sister lol
Hamda Alqubaisi from F1 Academy apparently got engaged so congrats!!!! (I thought she is like 16 I am so sorry Hamda)
Apparently Fernando Alonso got a new AM Valkyrie car that immediately broke down while he was driving it in Monaco and he was unable to fix it (he also said that they don’t get discounts on the cars from the team)
oh and kinda sports related but it is completely out of question right now BUT there is talks about F1 coming to Brno with the new resurfaced track and possible new facilities as they return on the MotoGP calendar for 2025

Also, Charles having brake issues is serious. Not only is he traveling at around 200 mp/h with 19 other cars doing the same, he's doing it on a track that has never been anyone's favorite.
P5 is pretty great for these issues.
Also, FERRARI brake issues are really dangerous, we've lost drivers in this sport over less. Fix your F*cking car.

It had been five years since the Cajon Pass Runaway of May 12th, 1989. Many people have feared if another train would spiral out of control again while descending down the steep grade. Unfortunately, their fears would end up becoming a reality.
In the early morning hours of December 14th 1994, Union Pacific coal train CUWLA-10 had descended Cajon Pass and was tied down at Milepost 61.55 at a red signal while waiting for another train to clear the line. Three locomotives were pulling the train while two additional locomotives were at the end as helpers. The lead locomotive was C41-8W No. 9450 while the two helper locomotives were SD40-2s No. 3341 and 3354.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe intermodal train PBHLA1-10 was proceeding onward through Cajon Pass on the same line. The train was being pulled by B40-8W No. 576, FP45 No. 96, F45 No. 5976, and GP60M No. 144. Things seemed as if they would carry on as usual, but that wouldn't be the case however.
As the UP coal train sat idling at MP 61.55, the crew recieves a message on the radio from the Santa Fe crew that makes their blood run cold.
ATSF PBHLA1-10: "Come in UP helpers, come in UP helpers!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "Santa Fe Cajon Dispater to Santa Fe 576, over."
ATSF PBHLA1-10: "UP helpers, get off your train! Helpers, get off your train, you got a train coming your way!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "Santa Fe Cajon Dispater to Santa Fe 576, over!"
ATSF PBHLA1-10: "576 west!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "Are you the one that is in emergency? Over."
ATSF PBHLA1-10: "Yes, we are!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "What is your speed now? Over."
ATSF PBHLA1-10: "40, 40, 50!"
The brakes of the Santa Fe train were malfunctioning as it goes through the pass, not even its emergency brakes are being of much use either. The Santa Fe engineer contacts the dispatcher to order the UP train to go past the red signal and get out of the way of the speeding ATSF train.
UP CUWLA-10: "We're coming on out. Let us get some speed! Let's go!"
The Union Pacific engineer on the head end radios the crew of the helpers about the Santa Fe Train barreling towards them.
UP CUWLA-10: "Coal train helpers, get off the power! GET OFF THE POWER! Coal train is in emergency at Cajon!"
The helper crew got off and got away from the helper locomotives, there was no time to avoid the runaway Santa Fe Intermodal. The crew of the Santa Fe train jumped off the locomotives about 1500ft from the UP coal train, and then it happened.
UP CUWLA-10: "EMERGENCY, THERE'S A BIG BALL OF FIRE!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "Go ahead, over."
UP CUWLA-10: "GET AN EMERGENCY PERSON, AS SOON AS YOU CAN! THEY JUST HIT THE REAR END OF THIS TRAIN!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "Is this the head end of 9450?"
UP CUWLA-10: "IT'S THE HEAD END OF '50, AND WE SEE A BALL OF FIRE! GET SOME EMERGENCY PERSONEL OUT HERE!"
Cajon Dispatcher: "Ok, we have emergency on the way now."
The Santa Fe intermodal train slammed into the back of the Union Pacific coal train at 5:12 AM. The two UP helpers were buried in the dirt while fuel from the Santa Fe locomotives burned into a huge raging fire, both the wreckage and the flames were seen from a portion of I-15 about 18 miles North of San Bernardino.
The UP helper crew were uninjured while the Santa Fe crew recieved minor injuries from jumping off their train but had otherwise survived. At 5:56 AM, emergency crews arrived in five fire trucks at the scene after recieving word from the dispatcher. The fire would eventually be brought into control several hours later.
After investigating, the NTSB (NTSB = National Transpotation Safety Board) concluded that the train spiraled out of control due to blockage in the air hose used for triggering the brakes. Cars 4-8, 10, and 11 had their brakes functioning properly, but cars 5-7 had soft application while car 9 had defective brake shoes. Cars 12-14 had limited brakes and one leaking hose with cars 16-22 having limited braking power with some of the wheelsets not responding.
Cars 23-29 didn't respond at all due to their failure to keep air pressure, there fore the blockage was occuring somewhere in the middle of the train. The dynamic and emergency brakes were functioning on the Santa Fe locomotives, but without enough air for the entire train, it wouldn't be enough to slow the train down, let alone from preventing the wreck from happening.
All the Santa Fe Locomotives, the two UP helper locomotives, and three articulated five-pack double-stack container cars were scrapped due to irreparable damage. As for the head end locomotives of the UP coal train, including No. 9450, they were left undamaged. No. 9450 would continue to serve Union Pacific until it was eventually sold to GECX in the late 2010s.
It has been 30 years since this incident took place but one more runaway train incident would take place in Cajon Pass on February 1st, 1996.

Thai reformist Pita Limjaroenrat's bid to be nominated prime minister has ended, prompting outrage from his supporters after he won May's election.
The 42-year-old was first dramatically suspended from parliament by the constitutional court, forcing him to leave the debating chamber.
Lawmakers then agreed to block a second vote on whether he should be PM.
The Move Forward party leader had swept to victory in the general election as voters rejected years of military rule.
But to seal his victory, he needed the approval of parliament - which he failed to secure last week, plunging the country into political limbo.
The constitutional court must now decide whether he should be disqualified from parliament for owning shares in a long-defunct media company.
"I would like to say goodbye until we meet again," Mr Pita said, raising his fist as he left the floor of the assembly to cheers from party allies.
Mr Pita, a Harvard graduate and former tech executive, won on the promise of major reforms, including a pledge to amend lese-majeste, Thailand's strict royal defamation laws, pitting him against the unelected senate and other conservatives who say he poses a threat to the monarchy.
Outside parliament, Move Forward supporters wondered what the point of the election had been.
"Why ask people to go to the polls? Why don't you just pick someone from your families to be the prime minister?" asked one man, AFP news agency reported.
"Pita is not wrong at all. He did everything right," a woman said.
Before he was forced to leave parliament, Mr Pita had said he would stop working as an MP until the court made its decision.
"I think Thailand has changed and will never be the same since 14 May," he said, referring to the date of his election victory.
"The people have won halfway, there's another half to go."
Uphill battle
Mr Pita needed the votes of more than half of the 749 members in parliament's two chambers to become prime minister.
Last week, he secured only 324 votes, 51 short of the required 375. He had a clear majority from elected MPs in the lower house, but not from the upper house.
He always faced an uphill battle, as there was little evidence that the 249 upper house senators would support him. They were all installed by the military leaders of a 2006 coup as a brake on any democratic outcome that the military and royalists were uncomfortable with.
Move Forward is popular among young Thai voters who wanted to end nearly a decade of conservative military rule.
Art Chaturongkul, a 39-year-old living in Bangkok, said he and fellow supporters are deeply concerned as they see Mr Pita as representing their voices in the parliament.
"I'm filled with mixed emotions. Utter rage, frustration, and disappointment. It feels like a setback to the democratic process," he had earlier told the BBC.
Move Forward has formed a coalition government with seven other parties, including Pheu Thai, the second most popular party in the May election.
Many young voters switched to voting for Move Forward because Pheu Thai had been unwilling to rule out doing deals with the military.
Pro-establishment campaigners have sought to block Mr Pita from taking the reins of power after the shock election results in May.
Two cases have been filed against him in the conservative-leaning Constitutional Court. Alongside the one for which he was suspended, the other complaint claims Move Forward's proposal to amend lese-majeste laws - which have seen hundreds of critics of the monarchy jailed - amounts to an attempt to an overthrow Thailand's entire political order.
There is a precedent for what is happening now. In the 2019 elections, Future Forward - the predecessor to Move Forward - was dissolved by the Constitutional Court after it was found to have violated electoral rules.
Since 2008, it has also dismissed three PMs aligned with former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who was toppled by a 2006 coup.
Ironically his party, Pheu Thai - which has been on the receiving end of nearly all of the Constitutional Court's rulings - is now poised to benefit from this latest ruling against its coalition partner.
There is no love lost between Pheu Thai and Move Forward, particularly as the former has taken the latter's mantle as a champion of democracy.
But despite winning the election, Mr Pita may have to accept not only giving up the top job, but having no place at all in the new government.

BRUSSELS — Today, the Belgian Federal government’s Council of Ministers approved a legislative proposal for a ban on the import of hunting trophies of endangered animal species, put forth by Zakia Khattabi, Minister of Climate, the Environment, Sustainable Development and Green Deal.
The Minister’s preliminary draft bill follows the Federal Parliament of the Kingdom of Belgium’s unanimous vote in March 2022 in support of a resolution demanding that the government put the brakes on the issuance of trophy import permits for a broad array of threatened and endangered species.
This resolution protects species such as the hippopotamus, Southern white rhinoceros, African savannah elephant, lion, polar bear and argali sheep killed for sport.
The scope of the resolution also extends to all species listed in Annex A, along with certain species in Annex B of the European Regulation 338/97 on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora.
Member of Parliament Kris Verduyckt (Vooruit, Flemish Socialists), initiator of the legislative proposal to ban hunting trophy imports in 2020 and proposer of the aforementioned resolution, said:
“I am glad that this hard work is paying off. Minister Khattabi is now fully translating my proposal into a bill and the entire Council of Ministers approves it.
It’s time we really started protecting endangered species. Trophy hunters prefer to kill the largest and strongest animals, the loss of which contributes to the disruption and decline of animal populations.”
The European office of animal protection charity Humane Society International, a long-time vocal advocate against the import of endangered species’ trophies, lauded the government’s decision.
Ruud Tombrock, executive director for HSI/Europe said:
“We welcome the fact that the unanimous resolution of Parliament has been translated into a legislative measure and look forward to studying the details of the legislation once published.
Belgium is leading the way for other countries in Europe already listening to calls from their citizens to consign the import of hunting trophies to history.
The next step should be an EU-wide ban on the import of hunting trophies from endangered and protected species, again reflecting the views of citizens across member states in the European Union.”
Over the past 16 months, HSI/Europe has worked with MPs to ensure that the unanimous resolution of Parliament was translated into legislation.
Today’s approval is the culmination of this campaign.
MPs from different political parties have maintained pressure on Environment Minister Khattabi.
A recent response to a parliamentary question from MP Jan Briers (CD&V, Flemish Christian democrats) revealed that the Ministry had only stopped issuing permits for importing animal trophies since mid-March 2023, a delay which outraged many MPs.
This landmark decision by the Belgian government echoes the strongly held views of its people.
A 2020 survey by Ipsos commissioned by HSI/Europe showed that 91% of Belgians oppose trophy hunting and 88% support a prohibition on importing any kind of hunting trophy at all.
This sentiment is not limited to Belgium but is resonating across the European continent.
A 2023 pan-European poll conducted by Savanta in all 27 EU Member States on behalf of HSI/Europe laid bare the widespread public rejection of trophy hunting.
A striking 83% of respondents stood firm against this practice, with just 6% in favor.
The vast majority is expecting strong measures to be taken against trophy hunting, with a compelling majority (74%) rallying behind a national import ban and similar support for an EU-wide ban (73%).
These survey results underscore a profound and growing public concern across Europe, spotlighting the urgency and importance of wildlife conservation and the protection of threatened species.
Today, Belgium has echoed the urgent European call to action against trophy hunting, joining the ranks of countries like the Netherlands, France and Finland, which have each implemented various degrees of bans and restrictions on the practice of import of hunting trophies.
Momentum against trophy hunting is accelerating across the continent, with nations including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Poland now also involved in active discussions to impose bans at varying stages of progress.
Facts on trophy hunting:
• The Netherlands introduced a trophy hunting ban for more than 200 species in May 2016 on the Annex A of European Regulation 338/97, on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora by regulating trade therein, and of species in danger of extinction.
The import ban also applies to the following Annex B species: white rhinoceros, hippopotamus, African elephant, mouflon (wild sheep from the Caucasus), lion and polar bear.
A total of 200 animal species are affected by the import licenses ban.
• France implemented a ban on the import of lion-hunting trophies in 2015.
In 2023, a Bill proposal for registration aimed at “stopping the issuance of import permits for hunting trophies of certain endangered species was tabled.
•The import of hunting trophies into Finland is restricted since June 2023.
The new Nature Conservation Act includes a provision that prohibits the import of individual animals or their parts from the most endangered species worldwide, which are threatened by international trade as trophies from countries outside the EU.
• In the United Kingdom in March 2023, British lawmakers approved a ban on the import of animal hunting trophies covering 6,000 endangered species, which makes it one of the toughest in the world.
The legislation is now being debated in the House of Lords.
• In Germany, the Minister of the Environment, Steffi Lemke (The Greens), announced that she intends to restrict the import of hunting trophies from protected animal species.
Germany terminated the Country’s membership in the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) in 2022.
• In Italy in 2022, a bill aimed at banning the import, export and re-export, to and from Italy, of hunting trophies obtained from animals that are protected by CITES, was presented.
After the fall of the government and the elections in 2023, the same bill was tabled again in parliament.
• In Poland, a bill sponsored by the deputy chairperson of the Sejm, the lower chamber of the parliament, reached committee stage discussion this month and is scheduled for further progress in August 2023.
• Trophy hunting of endangered species poses a severe threat to conservation efforts and the world’s natural heritage.
Trophy hunters prefer to kill the largest, strongest animals, whose loss causes declines in population.
The affected species, such as African elephants, lions, rhinoceros, and leopards, among others, are already facing the risk of extinction and play crucial roles in maintaining healthy ecosystems and biodiversity.
The loss of these iconic animals not only disrupts delicate ecological balances but also erodes cultural and historical significance.
Many species play important roles in their ecosystems. Their removal can have cascading effects on other wildlife, vegetation, and the overall health of the ecosystem.
• The EU is the second biggest importer of hunting trophies after the United States, as indicated in a report by Humane Society International/Europe from 2021, with an average of 3000 trophies imported in the period between 2014 and 2018.
• The top 10 species imported into the EU as trophies are:
Hartmann’s mountain zebra (Equus zebra hartmannae) (3.119), Chacma baboon (1.751), American black bear (Ursus americanus) (1.415), brown bear (1.056), the African elephant (952), African lion (Panthera leo) (889), African leopard (Panthera pardus) (839), hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) (794), caracal (Caracal caracal) (480), and red lechwe (Kobus leche) (415).
• The EU was the largest importer of cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) trophies with 297 cheetah trophies imported into the EU during the study period.
• Belgium is the 13th largest hunting trophy importer of internationally protected species in Europe
• Shortly before the vote of the resolution last year, Animal Rights Belgium, another organisation campaigning against the import of hunting trophies in Belgium, delivered a petition with 37,000 signatures supporting the ban to the Federal Environment Minister, Zakia Khattabi.

What Should You Consider When Selecting a Car Warranty?
A car warranty can be a life-saver particularly when you require unexpected major repairs on your vehicle. However, choosing the right car warranty can be daunting, given the numerous options available in the market. A well-chosen car warranty can save you significant money and hassle in the long run. Please remember a few essential factors when selecting a car warranty.
Factors to Consider
1. Coverage Type
Understanding what the car warranty covers is crucial. There are different types of car warranties, including:
·   Bumper-to-bumper warranties offering comprehensive coverage of almost all components of the vehicle, excluding the wear-and-tear parts like the windshield wipers and brake pads.
·   Powertrain warranties focusing on the core components of the vehicle such as the engine, transmission, and drivetrain.
·   Corrosion/Rust warranties covering repairs for rust and corrosion damage to the vehicle’s body panels.
Make sure to choose a car warranty that aligns with your needs and any specific risks you want to mitigate.
2. Duration and Mileage
Car warranty durations vary significantly based on the provider and plans. Most car warranties offer coverage for a certain number of years, with mileage constraints. Consider your driving habits when evaluating these options. For instance, if you drive a lot, a warranty with higher mileage limits might be more beneficial than one with a longer duration but lower mileage limits.
3. Exclusions and Limitations
To know what is covered and what’s not, you have to go through the fine print of your car warranty contract. Exclusions can include regular maintenance items, certain parts, and specific types of damage. Knowing these limitations upfront can prevent unpleasant surprises down the road.
4. Repair Facilities
Some car warranties require you to have repairs done at specific authorized service centers, while others offer more flexibility. Consider the convenience and reputation of the repair facilities covered by the warranty. Having access to reputable service centers can ensure that your vehicle receives high-quality repairs.
5. Customer Service and Claims Process
Research the warranty provider's reputation for customer service and claims fulfillment. Read online reviews left by customers to get an idea of what kind of service to expect from a warranty provider. A provider with a straightforward and efficient claims process can save you time and frustration when you need to file a claim on the warranty.
6. Additional Benefits
Some car warranties come with additional perks such as roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, and trip interruption coverage. These benefits can add significant value and convenience, so consider these when making your decision.
Selecting the right car warranty involves careful consideration of your needs, driving habits, and the terms of the warranty. By understanding the different types of coverage, exclusions, and additional benefits, you can choose a car warranty that offers the best protection and value for your vehicle. Take the time to research and compare different providers to make an informed decision that will give you peace of mind on the road.

Vanguard Campaign: Top-Tier Action and Elite Allies
Call of Duty: Vanguard, made by Sledgehammer Games and dropped by Activision, is the latest throwback after Modern Warfare, following Cold War's lead. If you’re looking to buy Xbox games, this one is a must-have for fans of the series. It's got the classic vibes: campaign, multiplayer, and zombies. I tried it out on the PS5 and OMG, the game is fire. The campaign has you rolling with a squad of top-tier allies as they snatch some super top-secret Nazi docs that even the Nazis are hiding from each other—talk about secretive! I’ve played a ton of solo FPS campaigns, and this one’s definitely top-tier. Even though folks might be tired of the whole D-Day grind, this one really stands out. The characters are dope, the graphics are straight-up gorgeous, and the action's paced just right with some chill moments thrown in. You get to switch between the elite soldiers, each with their own special skills that come into play during the mission.
Customizable Combat Pacing: Chill to Chaos at Your Fingertips
I was really wondering if the gunplay in Vanguard would vibe more with Modern Warfare or Cold War, and it turns out it’s a whole new vibe. If you’re planning to buy PS5 games, Vanguard’s distinctive approach to gunplay might make it a refreshing choice compared to the previous titles. I’m down with Modern Warfare, and Cold War grew on me after a bit, but Vanguard’s gunplay is honestly top-notch. Cold War’s was way too bouncy, like your gun was on a wild ride and no matter how much I tweaked the sensitivity, it felt kinda…loose. Modern Warfare was the opposite, with the guns feeling kinda sluggish and heavy. Vanguard hits that sweet spot. You can feel the weight of the gun, but your aim is way steadier. Is it super realistic? Nah, but it’s mad fun, and isn’t that what matters? Recoil isn’t super intense, but it does ramp up with different guns and optics, though it’s still way more controlled than Cold War. The modes are pretty standard: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, Free-For-All, and Hardpoint. But there’s this new mode called Patrol, which is like Hardpoint but with a constantly moving circle that teams have to fight over. It’s pretty chill at first but can get hella intense. Also, you’ve got different combat pacing options: Tactical for that slow-burn strategy, Assault for a balanced game, and Blitz for pure chaos and bullet hell. You can pick your fave or switch it up from match to match. I’m loving the ability to customize my gameplay experience.
Weapon Imbalance and Custom Loadouts: OP Guns and Personalized Perks
Vanguard’s operator setup is a bit of a shake-up from the usual. In past games, you’d have the classic good guys vs. bad guys setup, which always felt like it was really about the cool characters vs. the boring ones. You’d pick an operator from each faction depending on your side, making it easier to spot enemies. Vanguard switches it up with a more complex system. Now, there are four operator classes: Hellhounds, Shadow, Barbarian, and Sentinel, each with three operators. Some of these operators and their skins are locked behind challenges, so there’s a lot of grinding involved. You can also unlock quips, finishing moves, highlight intros, and MVP highlights. At the end of each match, the top play gets showcased, and then you vote for the team MVP. Voting and winning MVP rack up XP, which adds a fun twist. The guns feel great, but right now, some options like the MP-40 and STG44 seem a bit OP. The STG44 is a starting weapon depending on your class, but it's still one of the better guns. Personally, I’m rocking the MP-40 with a G16 2.5x optic, No. 3 rifle brake, VDD 285mm shrouded barrel, VDD 34m padded stock, grooved grip, and 8mm Kurz 32 round magazine. It’s got a nice boost in firepower and accuracy, though the smaller magazine can slow you down a bit.
Vanguard: The Ultimate CoD Experience with Stunning Graphics and Balanced Gameplay
Vanguard’s killstreaks got a WWII makeover, with some cool twists like a flamethrower version of the Juggernaut and attack and guard dogs. The guard dogs are a nice touch—they run around on their own and only attack the enemy, which is clutch in hardcore mode. Unlike other killstreaks that might accidentally take out your own team, the attack dogs are focused attacks that keep your squad safe. Honestly, I think Vanguard might be one of the best CoD games I’ve played. After sinking hundreds of hours into both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard is probably my fave of the three. It takes all the best bits from the previous games and nails the balance. I had a few latency hiccups, but I’m pretty sure that was on my end, not the servers. If you vibed with Modern Warfare but weren’t into Cold War, or if you dug Cold War but weren’t feeling Modern Warfare, Vanguard’s got you covered. It looks sick, sounds amazing, and feels awesome. Vanguard could very well be the top CoD game ever, with its jaw-dropping graphics on the new systems and perfectly balanced gunplay. It brings a fresh take on the WWII and D-Day scenes, making both the solo campaign and multiplayer a blast.

I had two dreams last night.
The first was about a man that was lost floating in space. He had been out with a partner on a spacewalk but a ship malfunction caused the two of them to be separated from the rest of the crew, and they were free-floating for about two days.
His partner ran out of oxygen before he did. Fortunately they died in sleep. He passed out from lack of oxygen shortly after, but it was only half an hour before a ship found them while driving past.
It was a huge research vessel that was picking up information about how the presence of humanity changes space's activity, and they immediately slammed on the brakes to pick the two people up.
The guy woke up a day or so later and he was really upset about the other person not making it. He didn't have much faith in finding the other ship either, since the malfunction was related to their lightspeed movement. It was a very old ship, built before canned gravity was invented, so he wasn't used to the weight of the research ship's gravity at all. It took him a long time to get used to it and to get strong enough to walk again.
He made friends with some of the researchers on the ship, and learned a lot about how they worked. He decided that when he got back to Earth he would pursue the same kind of science they had been doing so he could rejoin them. His old work on the other ship had been survey work, which he didn't like the high risk of.
They got back to earth at the end of the term and he went for a walk with a new friend in a forest near where he lived. They found some cool ant hills and were watching the ants crawling around, but then his arm started moving by itself and acting strangely. It started to hurt him because it was yanking out of its socket and hitting him, so they went to a hospital to see what was wrong.
Nerve damage in the air? WRONG! alien parasite in the air.
Literally. Their theory was that some kind of parasitic animal was pulled in by his suit's filter and he ended up breathing it in, from where it made its way to his arm and set up shop. Unfortunately with no way to separate it from his arm and the damage to his shoulder and elbow joints already done, they agreed that amputation was the best option. The same researchers from the ship decided to start a whole new sector to study his arm and learn about the parasite so that they didn't have to pop any arms off again, and he was 100% joining them.
The second dream was about a group of adventurers in a video game who had entered a very dark and mysterious area. The big bad had just arrived and they were fighting it, but it was a scripted battle that they were forced to lose. Three party members ended up unconscious and the fourth got up to chase the bad guy, but he was too fast. When they turned back to look at the rest of the team, they were trapped in a sort of prison box? And there was a big mouse ordering some people to take them away.
Four ran over to them and asked what was going on, and the mouse said that they had been found guilty of treason against tge big bad guy and were going to Prison. four was like WTF!!!!!!!!!! / and ran over to their friends to make sure they were all still alive. They were, but they had very low hp and mp and basically could not do shit. The guys took them away down a corridor with invisible walls and threw them into one big collective cell that several other prisoners were also in.
A guy with purple hair and snakebites came over to help them out, and four asked him what the heck was going on and what kind of prison is see-through??? and purple told them that the walls aren't usually invisible, the big bad guy and the mouse just did this to torment Four specifically. Which sucks.
He said that the prison was designed so that time never passed inside, so all the prisoners remain the age they were when they went in. Purple had been in there for 120 years, having gotten a life sentence like everybody else. Four asked what it was for and he said Tresspassing™.
It was at the point where there was a tiny little community inside the prison, of people who could never return to their loved ones and only had eachother. It was kind of sad. Anyway they did a load of stuff I can't really remember, purple managed to slip out of the cell and raid the store cupboard for some stuff to help the rest of the team, got them all back on their feet and then they made a plan to overthrow the mouse guy.
I don't remember much about how the plan went, but purple and three (a girl in the team who did magic) fell in love while they were trapped in the prison. They were there for like a month so it wasn't like rediculously fast or anything. Eventually they broke out of the prison and successfully found a loophole which immediately pardoned their sentences. Except for purple.
Purple actually did trespass on the big bad guy's land. He had admitted to it and been caught doing it. He was never getting out of his sentence. And what would be there for him if he did? It had been 120 years. Everyone he knew and loved was long dead. The world was a different place now and he was tired. He was so tired.
Before the team left, he walked over to give three a kiss goodbye. Suddenly he pulled out her shortsword and everyone was like WUH but he didn't hurt her.
Heeeeeeeee killed himself. Said he was sorry. The others tried to help him but it just wasn't going to happen. Three understood that though they loved eachother he had long since passed his time, and when you're only living for the sake of one person you have nothing once they're gone — and she was an adventurer. There was no telling if she would survive the journey, and purple couldn't come with them. She was still really sad about it.
The mouse was freaking out for some reason. Apparently if any prisoners ever came to harm or died in the prison, the prison board would come over and inspect the place to make sure it was safe, and they were doing a SHITLOAD of illegal stuff here. Purple said this was the main reason why he decided to go through with sucide. To get everyone out of the prison so they didn't have to be stuck there anymore.
Purple died in three's arms and she decided to use magic to fuse his resolve with her sword to make it stronger (idk what this means) and they left a note with one of the prisoners that details EVERYTHING that was bad about their stay in case the mouse tried any bullshit. They moved on and then I woke up.

Documentary on Greens icon Bob Brown comes to streaming
Australian documentary The Giants, centering on longtime climate activist, gay trailblazer and former Greens party leader Bob Brown, is streaming on Netflix.
Bob Brown was the first openly gay member of the Australian Parliament as well as the first openly gay leader of an Australian political party.
For 50 years, he’s also been a pivotal figure in environmental and human rights activism in Australia.
In 1983, Bob Brown joined blockade protests against the damming of Tasmania’s Franklin River. Police ultimately arrested 1500 people and jailed 600.
Bob was one of them, and spent nineteen days inside Risdon Prison. But a day after his release, he entered the Tasmanian state Parliament as the first Greens MP.
In 1996, he entered the federal Senate, taking his fight for conservation, climate action and human rights to Canberra.
Bob has also campaigned for First Nations rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, refugee rights, and more.
Along the way, he’s been imprisoned, assaulted, threatened, and shot at.
The Giants, from filmmakers Laurence Billiet and Rachel Antony, is a dual portrait of the plight of Tasmania’s rainforests and Bob Brown’s lifelong activism to preserve them.

‘Become active, instead of being depressed’
Bob Brown left politics in 2012, but his activism has continued.
The Bob Brown Foundation’s motto is “Don’t get depressed, get active,” and Bob hopes the new documentary inspires the next generation.
“I hope it gives people a cause to get active about our planet,” he said of the film last year.
He warned “instead of putting our foot on the brake,” state and federal political leaders are still “putting their foot on the accelerator of environmental destruction.”
“You just can’t be, in this world, licensing more coal mines, gas fracking, logging [and] burning of forests, [putting] massive tonnages of carbon into the atmosphere and destroying species,” he said.
“They’re adding to the burden of global warming which our kids are going to have to look after.
“If only this film can inspire one or two young people to become active instead of being depressed, it will be worthwhile.
“There’s a new mood in the air of defiance and rebellion and ‘we’re not going to put up with this’… I find it inspiring.”

Bob Brown’s tribute to partner Paul
In the film, Bob Brown also opens up about his personal life. He said he credits a lot to his longtime partner Paul Thomas, whom he met in the 1980s.
“I know myself well enough to know that having such a marvellous companion is everything to me in where I am in life now,” he said.
“I would not have made it without him. He’s just my great fortune in life. I had great parents but meeting Paul when I did has been everything.
“Without him, I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing.”
The Giants is streaming in Australia and New Zealand on Netflix now.

For those who don't know about the Rhinoceros party, what they plan to do if they get elected sounds like that one sims patch note video;
(From wikipedia) If elected, the Rhinoceros Party of Canada has promised to:
Take Canada off the gold standard, opting instead to use a snow standard to boost the economy
Repeal the law of gravity
Promote higher education by building taller schools
Pave the Bay of Fundy to make more parking for the Maritimes
Count the Thousand Islands to make sure the Americans didn’t steal any
Change Montreal’s rue Ste-Catherine into the world’s longest bowling alley
Ban crappy Canadian winters
Abolish all laws to end crime
Tear down the Rockies so Albertans can see the Pacific sunset
Abolish lawn mowing in Outremont, QC
Ban guns and butter—both kill
Reform the retail lottery scheme by replacing cash prizes with Senate appointments
Forget having two official languages; replace with having two official ears (In French, the same word is used for "language" and for "tongue")
Seat the Queen of Canada in Buckingham, Quebec
Privatize the Queen
Tax the black market
Nationalize Tim Hortons
Move the national capital to Kapuskasing, Ontario to be closer to the centre of the country
In order to increase car pooling and reduce road speeds, car manufacturers will need to move the brake pedal to the passenger side.
Rename black ice to neon yellow ice.
During a storm all speed limits will be eliminated to make sure Canadians spend as little time on the roads as possible in order to reduce the likelihood of a collision.
Use rubber instead of concrete when building roads in major cities to reduce the number of injuries to cyclists.
Encouraged by the success of law that now allows motorists to turn right on a red light, the party will now allow them to turn left or go straight.
Mandate archaeologists to discover if remains of roads actually exist under Montreal potholes.
Promote MP fitness by having them cross the floor daily.
Transport oil and gas in blimps instead of pipelines.
Highly recommend researching them
anything but writing (break tips)
change the sheets on your bed
draw (badly, if you're me)
put on a playlist that's too distracting to write to
go get a nice snack
drink water (hydration is key)
water the dying plants in That One Green Corner
make a timeline of story events (technically writing but I find timelines fun)
scroll through Pinterest and Tumblr
text someone who definitely won't text you back (so you don't feel tempted to check off break)
clean up your workspace
go for a walk. (ew. it's supposed to be productive)
or a swim (>>)
watch a movie (to laugh or cry to. not something you watch in sullen silence)
indulge in a guilty pleasure
get that work done
go buy a single item from the grocery store in pyjamas
essentially get out of bed
reread what you wrote already
do a deep dive into Canada's Rhinoceros Party
make a to-do list
reread a book
make a to-do list of things you've already done so you can check them all off and feel productive

Rahul Gandhi rejects Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s claims, said stone pelting incident is ‘wrong news’
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s car was damaged near the Bihar-Bengal border. On Wednesday, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the act is suspected to be stone pelting but Rahul Gandhi came up with a statement and said that the claim is ‘wrong news’.
Later a clarifying post on X on Congress's official handle read, "A huge crowd had come to meet Rahul ji in Malda, West Bengal. In this crowd, a woman suddenly came in front of Rahul ji's car to meet him, due to which the brakes were suddenly applied. Then the glass of the car broke due to the rope used in the security circle. People's leader Rahul Gandhi is fighting for justice against the injustice being done to the people. The public is with them, the public is keeping them safe,"
Chowdhury said that there were unidentified persons who threw stones at Gandhi’s car. “Maybe someone at the back pelted a stone amid the crowd...Police force is overlooking that. A lot can happen due to overlooking. This is a small incident but something could have happened too,” he told the press.
Rahul’s car was attacked while he was reentering West Bengal from Bihar in Malda's Harischandrapur area.
On Tuesday, Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra reached Katihar after which he carried out a roadshow in Bihar on Wednesday. He was approaching West Bengal after that through Malda.
The incident happened in the backdrop of TMC chief Mamata Banerjee’s decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections alone.

Steamscape: Rio de Los Pinos Trestle
flickr
Steamscape: Rio de Los Pinos Trestle por Kevin Madore Por Flickr: Eureka & Palisade #4 and Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company #1 cross the Rio de Los Pinos on the 175' wooden pile trestle at MP 324.52, as they haul their short freight westbound on the 64-mile journey from Antonito, Colorado, to Chama, New Mexico. This cross-railroad journey, run in tandem with D&RG loco #s 168 and 425 and their passenger train, proved to be a test of the railroader's skills....and patience. Only by making a trip such as this one can we begin to appreciate the challenges faced by railroad crews back in the mid-to-late 1800s. These engines are small, with tractive effort in the 7,000 lb range, which seriously limits the size of the consist they can handle. A single C-18 Locomotive, such as D&RGW 425 (315) has more than double the pulling power of either of these little engines. Neither is superheated, so they go through their water supply pretty quickly, and their fuel supply even more quickly, necessitating more stops than more modern engines make and those stops are lengthier. Wood takes a lot more time to load than coal or oil. In addition, these engines were not built with air pumps or brake reservoirs.....those items were retrofitted later in life and they are small. As a consequence, the engineer has to be very strategic in the application of brakes or risk getting in trouble on steep grades. And lastly, another lesson was learned later this day, as the two engines descended the 4% grade from Cumbres Pass to Chama. That lesson was that there are range cattle and elk on this railroad and they are dark in color and hard to see. The oil lamp headlights on these engines proved very ineffective. As one engineer told me: "They're just bright enough to see what you're about to hit." Being an innovative bunch, the crews of these two engines elected to utilize a large LED lantern that one of them was carrying, to light the tracks ahead. No kidding, they really crept their way down that hill with a flashlight!
