after years of no news about my dad's longest-time friend, shrouding his existence with a strange mix of pessimistic presumption of death and yet hope and allure of mystery, as he was a known marginal, making my dad deeply miss him and continue to call even as it always reached voicemail (furthering this allure of mystery about his strange in-between state), even as he became more and more sure the man was "gone body and soul", i have found what seems to be as close to 100% confirmation as we'll ever get that this guy passed away, exactly one year ago on the day. it was absolutely a horrible experience to ask my father for this man's last name and approximate year of birth, just to make sure, and deliver the news that he had not been able to find. I wish i had been home for this. this does feel like a crazy coincidence that he passed one year ago exactly and, in my father's words, like he's "finally deciding on giving some updates" - significant in a way.

there is no point to this post except to ask you that, if you got some beer to spare, you pour some out to Titi, drifter, alcoholic, all wrinkly and red like a prune from the sea air, rotten-teethed and nicotine-stained fingers, who used to play-growl at me and at the village's kids, who when i was a child gifted me his tent that allowed me to start camping&grow enamored with it and widened the possibilities of my future, one of my father's dearest friends, cunning and resourceful like a shapeshifter, and who was so fucking dope.

rest easy you sly dog, hope you can sail across that red-wine sea to your alcoholic's heart content, until in 100 years from now you and my father be reincarnated as seagulls that shit on people's heads and steal their food also.

You laid in bed, your phone on the pillow behind you. Songs that made your brain fuzzy blared in the background. Your stomach felt sick and your throat felt guilty. What for? Unsure. You just felt unwell and couldn’t handle anything right now. The bedroom light was off and the ceiling fan was on medium. You shivered in the cold, but the blanket was too hot and heavy to wear. Your tics had been going for a while, the sudden movements not benefiting your stomach. Maybe you felt hungry, but eating or drinking anything would have been too filling.

The bed creaked as another body crawled on top of the covers with you. A warm arm snaked around your waist, but no chest met your back. They must have known that would have made it too hot. The contact didn’t stop your tics, but they didn’t say anything about it, which was nice.

You didn’t want to go to sleep. If you fell asleep, you would lose time of day to do stuff. But if you stayed awake any longer, you wouldn’t be able to sleep for what felt like years. They moved your phone closer to you on the pillow, but turned the volume down slightly. This helped, allowing you to slowly drift off to sleep. For once you didn’t care that you were the first to fall asleep.

Had a dream last night of The Lake again. Was lost, in the water, at night. Managed to get to a few rocks by a sheer cliff wall and saw lights in the distance. Waited until morning to start swimming back, nearly got crushed by some flooded trees falling down but I made it.

man i was at a restaurant today where I had to interact with one of the most beautiful humans i've ever seen. smiling, cute lil moustache, glasses and curly hair

people aren't allowed to look that amazing. wayyy out off my league. also probably too stable and reasonable to date my mentowwy iww ass

anyway, i found out that i can still crush on people (and also converse with them without being *way* too awkward), which is nice. progressing slowly out of being too scared of other people to go out. finally found the meds that actually work. it's looking up for me (hope this doesn't jinx it)
