Talentless Nana x Dandy’s World
I already have an idea of what each toon’s role would be
See the list below if you want ↓
Poppy — She takes the role of Nana Hiiragi, she is sent to the island to eliminate every toon there. She pretends to have a bubbly personality but she’s very manipulative and calulated. She has no special talent, but she pretends to read minds. I chose Poppy as Nana as I thought she has that same personality, being all nice and friendly to others. I thought it would be interesting to make a beginner toon into something a lot cooler.
Boxten — He takes the role of Nanao Nakajima. He doesn’t do much and is mostly outcasted, he is the first attempted murder but will come back in the future. His special ability is nullifying other toons’ powers (taking it from Nanao because I couldn’t think of anything else for Boxten). I thought Boxten fit Nakajima because they’re both kind of left behind (in Boxten’s case, I don’t see him as a popular toon in the fandom) and because I thought their personalities were kind of similar, both shy but good at heart. I also though it would be kind of cool to see Boxten in the future.
Finn — He takes the role of Moe Makabe. He was sent to the island a little bit later and joins Poppy as they continue their mission. Finn also does not have any special talents. I thought Finn fit Moe the most since they’re both outgoing and sort of childish, they’re also both considered newcomers. It’s also a common headcanon that Poppy and Finn are family, so I thought the relationship might work there.
Rodger — He takes the role of Kyouya Onodera. He’s very observant and logical, taking in every piece of information and is able to reduce a coherent story in a matter of minutes through observing his surroundings. I might just give Rodger the ability I gave him, which is being able to look deep into a toon’s soul and see the true them. I think it might help with investigations that happen around the island as the murders take place. Although not the same personality wise, I do think Rodger could fit in story wise (I will explain in Toodles’ section). They both also play the role as detective.
Cosmo — He takes the role of Michiru Inukai. He is a very kind-hearted but his nervousness gets in the way. He’s quite selfless, making him quite naive and easy to manipulate by Poppy. Cosmo has the ability to heal others, this also shortens his lifespan. I thought Cosmo was the best for Michiru, not only do they have the same kind of personality but their abilities are quite literally the same (both can heal but at the cost of their own health and life). It does pain me to say that Cosmo does in fact lose his life when trying to heal Poppy, unfortunately. I think Cosmo might still be best friends with Sprout, but became friends with Poppy after Sprout’s death (yes, he will die).
Toodles — She takes the role of Rin Onodera. She is the closest thing to family for Rodger, she was sent to the island before him only to disappear. Toodles has the ability to shapeshift into other toons and animals. She is still alive but takes the form of another toon (possibly not in Dandy’s World, maybe a toon before the main cast). At the point where our present day toons are sent to the island, Toodles is now an adult. Pinpointing who could be Rin was difficult, but ultimately I decided that Toodles is the best. In terms of story, it makes the most sense that Toodles would be related to Rodger (in a sense that Toodles is almost like a “little sister” to Rodger).
Astro — He (loosely) takes the role of Hikaru Daichi. He has the ability to control gravity, but only depending on where the moon is. Astro is quite humble albiet very reserved since he lives in the mountains away from everyone else. This was a tough choice, I didn’t really want Astro to be Hikaru but he made the most sense. Both are related to the moon, they have somewhat similar personalities as they’re friendly with pretty much everyone by being kind and humble. Although, I wonder if Hikaru’s story could be Astro’s as well, maybe Astro does kind of enjoy sending people to the moon because it’s “beautiful” to him.
Glisten — He takes the role of Seiya Kori. He is charismatic and carries a big ego, he is quite the beauty so he has a number of fangirls and fanboys. Taking his ability in the game, Glisten has the ability to teleport. I’m not sure if I want to make it the exact same where he teleports to another person, but if he did then that would be considered the drawback. Glisten is pretty much the only toon who fits Seiya personality wise. He fits story wise as well, but this time I don’t want to give Glisten a girlfriend. It would be funny to see him lose his sparkles in the future, only to get it back. It kind of adds to the charm of Glisten being a mirror.
At this point, I’m kind of stumped on which character would be who, so from here on out I’ll just explain what each remaining toons’ powers and abilities would be as well as their drawbacks.
Brightney — Inspired by her ability in the game, Brightney’s talent is x-ray vision. She can see people through walls and such, being able to identify who it is and where they are. The drawback would be that her vision is temporarily blinded/blurred after using it, it’s similar to staring at a light for too long. It takes a few seconds to get her vision back, but it’s still not very good for her eyes. I’m wasn’t sure if I should have given this ability to Vee or Brightney since they’re similar in highlighting, but I thought Vee shouldn’t get a magical talent as a computer, so I gave it to Brightney.
Flutter — She has the ability to make poison through her mouth, similar to Kirara Habu. I take inspiration from Flutter’s concept design where she had a probocsis, I thought it would be interesting if she could make poison from it. I don’t think I should make her flight an ability as that’s just her species, so I had to give her a different talent. I don’t want to make her exactly like Habu, so I changed her drawback to be the lack of speech. Maybe it’s because the poison.
Dandy — I think his ability is quite unknown to the others, I kind of thought that he might be an enemy of humanity/twisted in disguise but it would be more fun to give him an actual talent. If Dandy were to have a talent, it would be mind control. He has the ability to influence others by discretely manipulating their mind. I think that when he uses this ability, the victim will still have their consciousness but they won’t understand why they did such a thing. Maybe Dandy makes them think they should. This could make it seem like he has no talent as it’s almost impossible to distinguish thinking or controlling. I think his drawbacks are unknown as well as the extent of this power.
Goob — I’m sure it’s obvious, but Goob’s talent is his arms. It works exactly like in game where he can extend and pull others back to him. The drawback this might have is that there is a maximum length where he can reach. I’m not sure what other talent Goob might have as he doesn’t seem to be the type to have a magical ability, his arms are useful though so no one really bothers to point it out.
Razzle & Dazzle — To parallel their twisted version, both of them can make and control ribbons. It might be the same as their twisted version where they can make ribbons come out the ground. For drawbacks, I imagine that they can only make and use a limited amount, perhaps only two (one for each). The ribbons don’t necessarily have to be sharp like in the game, they could just act as tentacles or an extra hand.
Scraps — She has the ability to fold herself into anything. Since she’s made of paper, it doesn’t really hurt. She can turn into animals and objects but not very big ones, this could be the drawback. It’s like making an origami elephant on a regular piece of paper. It won’t be big, but you’ll still see the resemblance. Her suction tail is just part of her, it’s not a talent or anything. She can still use it like she can in game, although it’s just something she was born with.
Shelly — I was a little unsure of what ability I should give her, but ultimately I decided that Shelly has the ability to become a shadow or become someone’s shadow. Her ability in the game is useless here as I think machines and extracting isn’t necessary, so I decided I should take inspiration from her twisted’s research log. It says that Shelly was tired of being forgotten, meaning that she’s not very popular in the show, so it made the most sense that her talent would parallel that. Shadows could metaphorically mean that someone isn’t noticed or no one pays any mind to them, perfect for Shelly. The only drawbacks I can think for Shelly is that she can only use this ability when out of sight or she can only do it in dimly lit areas.
Shrimpo — Although I had a few ideas, I decided that Shrimpo would have super strength. His strength depends on his emotions, the more negative he is the stronger he is (which is all the time). I think positive emotions make him weaker. His drawback would be that he can’t control this ability very well, sometimes he will break tables and chairs because he can’t determine how much is being used. Shrimpo’s punches can send buildings across the entire island, but he won’t do that. Another idea I had was talking/hearing animals and insects, but I thought it would be too useless.
Sprout — Taking inspiration from his ability in the game, Sprout has the ability to manifest from thin air. A drawback to this is that it takes a great deal of energy depending on how large the object is, a limited size for each object could also be a drawback. Sprout can manifest small things like pencils and cupcakes, but he can’t manifest things like tables and large wardrobes. I thought this could work as his talent as it seems he can make food in his in game ability, and instead of making him take it out of the oven, I just thought it would be more fitting to have him manifest it from his mind.
Teagan — I could give them one of two talents; being able to go back in time or having super speed. I guess the going back in time idea would be the same as Youhei Shibusawa where she can only go back in time less than 24 hours back, but I’m not sure if it fits her. Super speed is interesting too as she can move so fast that they look like they’re teleporting. I guess it also fits in the sense that she can dodge pretty much anything. I think the super speed is more interesting, the only drawback is that she runs out of breath quicker when using it.
Tisha — Her talent is having a death touch. Self explanatory, things that she touches will die slowly. This works on any living organism, the smaller the organism is the faster it will die (things such as bacteria, it’s helpful for cleaning). Despite this, her touch is not automatic, so it’s not anything to worry about. A simple light tap on the shoulder won’t kill someone instantly, she has to be holding her hand on it for a long period of time before they actually die.
Vee — She has no talent, however she does count as the island’s database. She is observant and can keep each toons’ talents in files. It’s helpful for people who need the knowledge, people like Poppy.

10 Things I Love About Oppan
Tumblr media
I have been tracking Ossan no pantsu ga nandatte ii janai ka aka Don't Care for an Old Man's Underwear aka Oppan in my weekly Japanese QL Corner posts, but this show is so good that I need to give it a full tribute now that the entire thing is available with English subs courtesy of @isaksbestpillow. You can find everything you need to watch here.
This is easily one of my favorite dramas of the year, and it had such a great cast of awesome characters and a story chock full of fantastic themes. This is a show that encourages us not to get desensitized to the world around us, to always challenge ourselves to learn and grow and update how we think about others and the culture we live in, and to prioritize personal happiness over conformity. I love it so much and I want to talk about why, because I hope more of you will, too! @twig-tea wrote a great spoiler free pitch for the show here; this one is not spoiler free in the hopes that those of you who like a bit more info will be further enticed to give it a try. On to the list!
This is a story about a middle-aged cishet man who realizes he has damaged his relationships and sets out to change to do right by his family
Tumblr media
There are so few stories of genuinely great fathers in media, and I found something so healing in watching a dad try so hard to do his best. Just the very fact that Makoto cares that he has hurt his family and is willing to put in work to change sets him apart, both in media and in real life.
An unconventional friendship is the heart of the story—and it changes both the characters' lives
Tumblr media
Our core relationship begins when Daichi prevents Makoto from falling down a set of neighborhood steps, and the two strike up a surprising friendship when Daichi proves open to listening to Makoto as he struggles to figure out where he went wrong with his family. Daichi is kind and warm-hearted but also firm in his convictions, and his wisdom is exactly what Makoto needs to start updating himself.
Daichi is a gay character who’s allowed to be a whole human—he is not here just to be a magical queer mentor for Makoto
Tumblr media
And before you worry that Daichi is a Manic Pixie Dream Gay here only to support Makoto, let me assure you that he also has a story, and it’s more complex than you might initially expect. Daichi has a lot of confidence when it comes to helping other people solve their own problems, but we eventually learn that he's not so assured about his own struggles. Daichi has other relationships that matter aside from his bond with Makoto and his family and he gets his own character arc in which Makoto is able to support him in return. They have a mutual bond that changes both of them for the better.
It takes a gentle and thoughtful approach to figuring yourself out, and encourages us to be kind to others experiencing things we don't understand
Tumblr media
There are so many characters in this show whose stories highlight this theme, but it is perhaps most evident in the story of Kakeru, Makoto's son, grappling with his identity and gender presentation. This show will surprise you again and again with how open and thoughtful it is about questions of identity and preference, and it constantly reinforces that we shouldn't assume we know everything about others and how they will react to our truths--if we give people a chance to know us, they might be more kind and supportive than we think.
This story sincerely believes that doing what makes you happy is always the right choice
Tumblr media
And they make it clear over and over again: your personal happiness matters more than any societal constructs or cultural norms. Letting go of what people outside of their family think is what heals the Okitas and helps them find their love and trust for one another again.
Relatedly, it gets fandom in a way few dramas do
Tumblr media
Makoto's wife, Mika, is a kpop stan, and his daughter, Moe, is a yaoi mangaka. One of the best parts of the show is Makoto coming to understand and appreciate their fandom and learn to respect the joy it gives them, and in turn, the whole family.
Everyone has the chance to redeem themselves
Tumblr media
Regardless of what they have done in the past, every character in this story has a chance to redeem themselves and earn trust and respect back--and earn is the operative word there. This show doesn't demand perfection, but it absolutely demands that you care when you harm others and earnestly try to do better, and we see many characters take that journey. This is further underlined by a character in the story who does not put in that effort to try, and consequently is not forgiven or brought into the family fold. So satisfying.
Every character and every relationship matters
Tumblr media
I was constantly amazed by how attentive this show is to every single relationship, not just the big family ones, or even just Makoto and Daichi. Makoto also goes out of his way to get to know Daichi's boyfriend Madoka, his coworkers, and Moe and Kakeru's friends, and we see connections form and deepen between so many side characters in this story. It really cares about all its characters as whole people.
And while it's doing all of this important thematic work and making us cry on the regular, it also manages to be very fucking funny!
Tumblr media
This show is hilarious, which may surprise you given all the heavy thematic work it's doing. But the writing has a deft touch and it manages to explore all these themes with a lot of humor. Watching Makoto learn new things and blunder his way through connecting with others is truly a delight.
And it caps off all of this with a great story about having the courage to love in the face of bigotry and a beautiful gay wedding
Tumblr media
Perhaps the biggest spoiler here: we get a gay wedding! I was so surprised and thrilled to see Daichi and Madoka decide to marry--and not without some stumbles--and bring the Okita family so fully into their joy. What a beautiful way to end a gorgeous show. I will miss all of these people dearly.

This is already insanely long, so the second half of this essay about what I think is below ↓↓↓↓
DEFINITE WATCH LIST
SOLO LEVELING - I've been waiting for the solo leveling anime since BEFORE the anime was ever announced, re-reading the webcomic/manhwa multiple times and just HOPING someone would animate these gorgeous shadows. It is a very well done power fantasy with only squints of romance, and while I'm sad it's been localized to Japan (and all the fuckery that comes with of Korean erasure), I got to see the first two episodes at the World Premiere and I. Am. So. Hype.
APOTHECARY DIARIES existed completely outside of my head space, and my initial response at the premise was, Raven of the Inner Palace? I wasn't actually expecting much from it and then the first few episodes BLEW ME OUT OF THE WATER and now I'm obsessed.
DUNGEON MESHI is one of those manga I've heard about, but tried reading and it was too slow paced for me (I say, currently slogging through The Boat Arc (TM) of Hunter x Hunter), but the anime gives it life and I think I'll enjoy this alot. I love cooking anime and fantasy, so this will be fun!
KYUJITSU NO WARUMONOSAN is just straight up Crow Bait. That curly bowl cut, the gap moe of a villain who loves cute things, and voiced by fricken Shintarou Asanuma!!! (I know him as Samatoki from HypMic, other's will know him from the "Fucking Bullshit" song from Carole and Tuesday, and a host of other roles) Also, all the pretty sentei / power ranger boys!!! I'm so hype, in the most relaxed chill way for this.
UNDEAD UNLUCK is so weird in that it involves a lot of random sexualization, but it doesn't make me uncomfortable like Seven Deadly Sin's random gropping did, maybe because there is actual implied consent involved. Fuuko and Andy are Poly and I love them for it. And the world building is TOP NOTCH.
FIRE HUNTER - If you haven't seen season one, you are missing out. A darkly beautiful post-post apocolyptic alternate Japan-esque world, from the POV of a young girl, and a young genius boy having to let himself be manipulated by capitalism to survive, and gods? a magic system? but so soft that it's barely there even while being a full on fantasy story.
High Hopes or Taking My Time
SASAKI AND PEEPS- What a weird little show that has the weirdest combination of isekai, the most "this is fine." salaryman, and a fricken' CHUNIBYO BIRB. I've already watched the first episode and it feels like there are two magic systems going on and its a bit confusing, so we will see how this plays out!
WITCH AND BEAST - I keep wanting to call this Beauty and the Beast, because the beast is a rad bad ass looking lady, and the witch is certainly one of the most beautiful undertakers I've ever seen. I think he carries his boyfriend around in his coffin backpack, so I'm hype to see WTF is up with that >o>
DOCTOR ELISE - Why do manhwa I read keep randomly popping up as anime??? This is a vilainess turned good story, and supposedly the market is full of these, but none of them are the good ones I've read, so I did a double take of happiness when I saw this. THIS ONE IS GOOD. An spoiled princess gets killed, is reborn in Korea and becomes a doctor, only to be killed by Airplane-kun, and winds up back in her old body where she decides to become a doctor again! The prince is even not your typical icy asshole! (although maybe he is a little at the beginning..)
CHERRY MAGIC - THIS FRICKEN ENGLISH TITLE GOOD LORDS ABOVE. I'm dying. I'm also excited to see this one play out and I'll be hiding behind a pillow giggling like a mad lad while I do. It's been a while since there's been a good BL that's not SAD (looking at YOU Given and Banana Fish, but avoids eye contact with Sasaki and Miyano) so hopefully it doesn't dip into that territory. Going into this one mostly blind as to the premise apart from the obvious Gap-Moe with the love interest.
SHANGRI-LA - I started watching this on a whim as the Fall season started to wind down, and found it to be a good potato chip to have on in the background. I'll probably continue watching it, but not weekly.
FRIEREN - This is what I watch when Jujutsu Kaisen hurts too much to keep going. I'm only a few episodes in, so it'll be slow going, but I think it's about to pick up it's pacing a little where I'm at, and it'll be good comfort food to have.
MAYBES
Mashle Season 2 - The pacing was SUPER WEIRD in the first season that despite all of it's shitting on the properties of she-who-shall-not-be-named, the end of the season kind of fell flat. I wanted to like it more, so I'm hoping Season 2 does that for me.
Fluffy Paradise - I love isekais with an adult in a child's body pretending to be just super smart, and this doesn't feel like it's going to do that, but still looks cute none the less. I'll give it a few episodes, but will quickly drop it if my watch list is too long.
Ishura - Is this what life is like for D&D Characters when they hit level 20? I HOPE SO. I LOVED the Legend of Vox Machina, and hope this has the same sort of vibes, but I'm going in blind!
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic - Love me some fucked up healing magic. Please DO NOT let this be ANYTHING like Redo Healer. I refuse to watch that even those FUCKED UP HEALING MAGIC IS FUN. But this. This I want to see. Please let this also not be a harem. I'm fine with ~vibes~ but please no actual harem that's not actually Poly.
Blue Exorcist - THIS IS TOTALLY OUT OF NOWHERE. HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN?????? I remember the last season feeling like a disappointment? But can't remember why? Gonna see if this is worth re-watching the seasons from like... a decade ago.
Delusional Monthly Magazine - I watched the PV and had no fucking clue what was happening. Therefore, I will be watching a few episodes to sate my curiosity about WTF OR possibly just get myself even more confused and rage quit. lmao
I've watched the first few episodes of a couple of these, and will be watching a few more tomorrow, so Next Goal: Post a write up or three about what I think!

Richmond Himbos play DnD
It's been A Day and I'm feeling self indulgent so:
Jamie: Hexblade Warlock. He wanted magic and a sword and hey, maybe he's working through some real life issues with his absent yet controlling patron but that's noone's business.
Roy: Berserker Barbarian. He didn’t get to make his character, the rest of the team made it for him- he’s oddly touched by the results. Phoebe draws character art for him and Jamie both.
Sam: Oath of the Ancients Paladin. Sam’s the kind of person who can’t bring himself to select the ‘mean’ dialogue option in video games. He’s going to fight to protect the good in the world, and provide his team with some much needed healing.
Colin: Champion Fighter. He surprises everyone by showing up with a lore-heavy backstory, until it turns out he’s literally just playing Welsh legend King Arthur and he googled "best DnD classes for beginners" half an hour before the first game.
Isaac: Monster Slayer Ranger. Defies all barbarian expectations because he refuses to be put in a box, so instead goes for peak Aragorn vibes. Paid a local artist to draw his character and he looks fire.
Dani: Talking Owlbear. He’s living his best life.
Richard: Glamour Bard. He’s rolling to seduce. Actually, he's not even rolling.
Moe: Inquisitive Rogue. He’s poking around. Asking some questions. Maybe picking some locks- oh, in DnD? The same, he guesses.
Jan: Bladesinging Wizard. He likes having an alphabetised list of spells and is very particular about sticking to the material components needed to cast them.
Thierry: Ascendant Dragon Monk. He wasn’t sold on the monk life until he realised it was just the purest martial arts class, and then he was all in- return of Van Damme.

@sighonaraa you opened the door on this so here we go:
PACIFIC RIM AU
Ted and Beard? Hella drift compatible. Shouldn't even need to be said. Since becoming a dad, Ted has struggled to justify his job as a trainer for the Pan Pacific Defense Corp, but damnit someone has to care about these pilots. Someone's gotta train them to make it out alive. So many of them die young.
He wonders sometimes if its selfish of him that he's not a pilot himself, but there's no hiding that sort of thinking in the drift. The Beard he knows in the drift is the gentlest man in the world, and he always, always, talks Ted down from doing anything stupid.
Rebecca is what happens when the drift goes sour. Rupert used what he learned to dig his claws in further. Rebecca was never a pilot, but Rupert's money helped built all of this. Even though she left him, even though he's halfway across the Pacific and she's the one left running everything, his voice remains in her head like a ghost. It's only by having people like Keeley and Ted at her side that she's begun to think 'maybe I'll try again some day. maybe.'
The tragedy of Roy Kent is that he didn't die young. Recruits have been calling him an old man since he turned thirty. He's almost forty. He's outlived all the recruits who first called him old. At this point he's become so overbearing, so controlling in a drift, that he's almost impossible to find a partner for.
Everyone is bewildered when one of the new recruits, some hot-headed mollusk they pried out of Manchester of all places, takes the general compatibility test and his scores come back. They check and they check again, and then they reluctantly call in Roy Kent.
Roy dislikes him instantly. He's too cocky and he doesn't take the risks seriously. They have one sparring session. Roy curses the sixth sense years of piloting have given him. They're drift compatible. Offensively so. Why won't the world give him a break?
Their first and only test drift is an unmitigated disaster. They nearly destroy one of the last functioning Jaegers; repairs will take months. Both of them walk away from the experience scraped raw and haunted by the knowledge they'll have to carry about each other for the rest of their lives.
Meanwhile Colin and Isaac are two guys from different departments who happened to meet in the lift one day. They ended up at the cafeteria talking for hours about everything and nothing, and the next day they got tested on a lark, even though neither was in the training program. Scores came back off the chart, they are now in the training program. It's terrifying. They wouldn't trade it for the world.
Richard and Jan Maas are barely drift compatible and shouldn't be let anywhere near a giant robot but somehow they keep winning so-
Keeley is the cutie on the bridge who gets to wear the bright colorful suspenders and run the clock.
Moe is one of those crazy scientists, but I couldn't decide which one so he might be both idk
Actually I've decided that Trent Crimm is Newton. He's not a scientist per se but he is a researcher and has fantastic style and rock t-shirts.
Oh and there's a sweet moment in here where Dani offers to drift with Jamie even though they basically just met and it is beautiful and healing. Dani is one of the most all-around drift compatible people around, but he really loves his amigo Jamie.
Sam is also a pilot in training and everyone in the world is like 'please no don't let the kaiju kill him or truly there is there no god in this world'

Hello! I wanted to ask what made you fall in love with bingqiu?
Hey there!
Ah hmm that's an interesting question, I've never thought about it actually. I like bingqiu a lot, but I never considered it as falling in love with the ship? They're a fun ship to play with and they have a wide range that's pretty flexible so I'm always in my comfort zone drawing them.
I suppose most of the art I draw for bingqiu are a love letter to them, though. And I think that's pretty telling of my brain rot for them 😂
I think the food the fandom cooked up really helped a lot. SV fic writers are on a whole other plane of existence when it comes to analyzing binghe's character and filling in on his journey of healing with sqq by his side. I'm the annoying type of audience that gets bored when the main couple gets together at the end...so when scum villain ended the way it did, mxtx may as well have german suplexed me on the concrete. scum villain is a story that subverts its tropes left and right and the ending was no exception! I love that bingqiu getting together at the end was not an automatic happily ever after, but rather, they still are putting in the work and effort to understand and stay in each other's lives. The glimpse of that path we get in the extras really did solidify my desire to see how bingqiu will continue to stay together--bingmei vs bingge extra was probably the finishing blow for me tho lmao. I couldn't stop thinking about what the heck happened to bingge after he left the sv world that I read a bunch of fics about him and needed to soothe the angst with sv bingqiu
on a side tangent, bingqiu parallels another of my all time ship, nozomizo from liz and the blue bird. mild spoilers if you haven't seen liz, but nozomizo had a similar codependent relationship that needed them both to grow apart as individuals in order to stay together. bingqiu separated unwillingly and binghe's growth as an individual was fueled by betrayal, despair, and that dying glimmer of hope that maybe, maybe shizun could accept him now that they're equals. but they don't. because binghe still hasn't emotionally grown to get past his temper tantrums (thanks xin mo) and sqq is still failing binghe by constantly misunderstanding him. but bingqiu still choose each other, choose to love and support each other, and they refuse to be separated again. whereas nozomizo was a healthy separation with a promise of reunion, bingqiu was fighting through the muddy trenches with a vague hope that the other is reaching out their hands too. i thought it was neat how differently both ships handled their codependency that still guarantees a happy ending, no matter how dirty and bruised they got along the way.
I also think sqq's compassionate narration in regards to binghe's suffering got to me lmao. He truly does care for binghe, and even if naysayers argue it's not romantic, it's undeniable that binghe is special to sqq. although not the best choices, most if not all of his choices were for binghe's best interest (thanks system). sqq had so much heart for binghe that it affected me through the screen too. binghe's abandonment issues and fake wet tears have captivated me. his gap moe as a chuuni emo demonic overlord and wife with a maidenly glass heart has bewitched me body and soul. i want luo binghe to be happy so badly!!
i think that's why bingqiu fascinates me. most of the bingqiu arts i draw are like slice of life vignettes, so without the meat and bones of fanfic diving into bingqiu's messiness, i would not have ascended to this level of brain rot for them...

10 years of worlds, wow. It has me thinking about a lot of stuff that have occurred in those years.
Worlds was that album that pulled me back into EDM and interested me in the whole genre back in 2019. I would listen to the genre off and on in prior years, only just to San Holo and some of Said The Sky. I heard shelter back in the spring of 2017 but completely forgot about it. I stumble upon it and thought the cover art was interesting. The color changing haze and the small kaomoji caught my eye. I would listen to EDM while browsing the internet or I would stumble upon it through my older sister. After listening to Worlds it got me interested in EDM again but more deeper. I discovered so many different artists that the following fall. From Anamanaguchi to Moe Shop, I went down a large rabbit hole. Any of my playlists at the time always had one song off worlds.
The artistry behind Worlds is something is so unique compared to the other albums around that time. The visuals for the live shows, the music videos, the anime influence, and the neat aesthetic that it had. The mixed media that the visuals incorporated had were interesting and eye candy to see. Plus the usage of Vocaloid for a couple of songs!! The color palette that the cover has is dreamy. The Final Worlds Live set at Second Sky 2019 is just wow. Especially that version of fresh static snow that is 10 minutes. That version goes so hard.
EDM in general is such an interesting genre to me in so many different aspects. From the production side of things to the different branches of all the subgenres. It’s a giant tree with so many branches. The artistry behind live shows and raves. The culture in those shows fosters. During my free time, I would spend hours looking into the history and discovering new subgenres. Sometimes I go back and forth if I should try producing some and learn how to use a DAW, plugins, mixing sample packs, and music theory. Worlds opened up that spark for me.
Going back to worlds now. The opener Divinity caught my eye and since then it’s been one of my favorite songs of all time. The build-up gets to me each time. Sea of Voices is everything. The production of it is so pretty. Goodbye to a world that takes you on this whole ride from start to finish. Fellow feeling, just wow. That strings arrangement in the start is incredible. Shepherdess/she heals everything from that era is also gorgeous. Worlds is such a beautiful album and ages so beautifully as the time goes on.
Hollowheart is here now 【=◈︿◈=】 it’s so good and wonderful.
also happy 8th to shelter :) (I completely forgot about that until now)

helloo!! i know youve talked ab your hcs with zwei gregor and dante but id love to hear if you had any other thoughts on that specific clockroach dynamic? gregor having confidence for once in his ids is very delicious and dante being the one fumbling w/o their healing pussy to save their ass is so 😋
its sooooooo funny to me the idea of dante going like my pussy heals you?? oh...win...now we dont have to talk about our feelings :) <- terrified of fumbling personal moments. and gregor like yes god i love not talking about feelings. flop4flop
with zwei gregor he wouldn't really signal emotional intimacy from being desired. He wouldn't expect it but it's regular, he spends a lot of time in close proximity to people. He has a human-looking hand, nothing to be so concerned about. Getting hit on after showing off his skills has gotta happen a lot. So Dante gassing him up doesn't work. They have no rizz. Dire circumstances.
So it's gotta be an endurance game with them. Dante's squeamishness about pushing things actually letting them slip under Gregor's guard because oh Dante isn't SERIOUS of course. Gregor has charmed people before. They're only intimate so often because of how frequently they work together [standing in front of a speeding train]
Zwei Gregor takes that "most normal couple you know" aspect of LCB Gregor but like. that's the entry point. Dante doesn't fix him or heal his wounds or give him solace in the darkness they are quite literally the most normal couple you know who got together because they've been exclusive long enough it really may as well be official. But they're more annoying because they're really happy to be dating. thinking "hehe you liiiiike me >:)" genuinely insufferably happy averageguys in a relationship.
I do think if Dante isn't already involved with a Gregor, like non-romantic dynamic or AU where they exist within his mirror world, they wouldn't actually be as swept off their feet by how confidently competent he is. That's the gap moe. I think they'd find the non-threatening/charisma/competence aspect really engaging and think of him as an easy person to connect with and oh... hookups? :) well I'm sure he's experienced I trust him to be a good partner and this won't be awkward [standing in front of a speeding train]

MM Classpecting: Jumin
Zen Classpect
Yoosung Classpect
Jaehee Classpect
Personality/General Info: Likes mature topics, business, workaholic. Has abandonment issues (?) and why he clings to his cat so much. Distrustful and emotionally closed off from women. Quiet, serious, cautious. Still likes to joke and learn slang. Kinda childish with RFA members in a gap-moe way, especially with Zen who he teases a lot (has his own sense of humor). Views situations objectively. Works Jaehee to the bone, but Jumin’s workload is more than hers. Jumin doesn’t care about people’s opinions of him, living his life in the way he thinks is right. Will help RFA members by using his resources with no hesitation. Has an interest in cross-stitching and magic grimoires.
Actually feels too many emotions, but pushes them down to be efficient at work. Is extremely lonely and paranoid because of this, uses work and cat to cope, and views himself as a monster. Trusted V and had feelings for Rika. Cares about family. Trusts Jaehee and Yoosung. Is displeased by Saeyoung's treatment of Elizabeth the 3rd. Considers Zen a friend, even though they bicker.
Role in Narrative: Peacemaker of the RFA with his logical thinking. Uses resources due to his wealth to help members (sending bodyguards to RFA, coordinating Mint Eye mission in secret endings, searching for V in bad endings when he goes missing).
Active or Passive: He is passive. He does things to benefit others. In the CS he gives advice to MC and members, particularly in Zen’s route. Wanted to help him further his career. Sends MC to Zen’s house when he was sad about his injury to take care and cheer him up. Constantly trying to help V regain his eye-sight, offering doctors that could help him.
Classpect - Seer of Light: One who knows Light, or knows through Light for others.
Yes he is Rose Lalonde kin. Spread the word.
How this applies to Jumin: Loves learning new things, even outside of his work in C&R. Loves to provide knowledge to others, and has concrete opinions on things that are not easily changed. He provides advice and resources, but doesn’t get into the action. His view of the world is shattered when he finds out V’s lies, and this shakes him up greatly. His inner world is complicated due to him repressing his emotions. He is lonely and paranoid due to this, fitting with the shortcomings of a Seer. Is open to speak with V and assist him with healing his eyes. Doesn’t force him, just gives him the opportunity to see a doctor for it (passive). Willing to speak to Zen in Zen’s route about their relationship, and offers opportunities (passive), but doesn’t force him to take it. Leads the Mint Eye mission with advice and directs orders from the sidelines. He sees the world in black and white terms when it comes to women. He thinks that all women are only interested in his money, with the sole exception of Rika and then eventually MC. In his route, he has to learn to listen to the opinions of others and to deconstruct his rigid worldview.
This is what the Hiveswap Extended Zodiac has to say about the Light Aspect:
"Those bound to the aspect of Light are the universe's knowledge-seekers. They are, above all, driven to learn and understand. They are great alchemists, able to take multiple sources of information and synthesize them into something useful. They are scholars and researchers, absolutely dedicated to knowledge for knowledge's sake. They are the ultimate students, and although that might conjure up the image of people sitting around peacefully waiting for knowledge to be brought to them, that couldn't be further from the truth. The Light-bound will go after knowledge with a fierce intensity that others may find distasteful. They aren't overly concerned with laws or norms, either. They often take rules as simple suggestions, instead searching for loopholes or work-arounds. At their best, the Light-bound are resourceful and driven. At their worst they can be fussy, pedantic, and insensitive."
I personally think Light symbolizes knowledge, luck and relevancy.
How this applies to Jumin: Dude this man likes sharing knowledge. In DS he even reads MC a storybook (a big reference to Nameless). He reads magic grimoires, likes learning slang, and in general deeply into his interests. Shares this knowledge with Yoosung too, by getting him to work in C&R. Jaehee states in her After Ending that despite how hard it was to work for Jumin, she learned so much about how to manage a business. He imparts this knowledge to benefit others. In Another Story he writes a book series about how he does business! He is directly imparting knowledge on a large scale! Light symbolizes both relevance and luck as well. He is very relevant in the plot, being the childhood friend of V and having a crush on Rika, who are both big players in the main story. He is also relevant in general within the world of MM because he is a CEO-in-line with C&R. ALSO, Jumin seeks to know the truth. He hates being deceived by women for his money. He hates being deceived by V, wanting to find out the truth behind his strange behavior. He actively seeks it out, but not too forcefully.
Looking at his route, Jumin's arc is about listening to others opinions. This is something that Seers are known to struggle with if their opinion differs from others. He also begins to struggle with feelings of paranoia over MC when Elizabeth the 3rd goes missing, essentially trapping her in his penthouse. Jumin begins to think of all the things that could go wrong if MC leaves. This was brought on since Jumin was unhealthily projecting his feelings for Rika onto Elly. His rationality goes out the window here, and can get worse in bad endings. These are pit-falls Seers must avoid, if Jumin doesn't sort through his 'tangled up feelings', this obsessiveness could harm the people around him. This would of course affect the insight he could provide. How can he give others advice when his vision is completely clouded? By understanding others opinions, his world view can expand beyond its black and white thinking, and develop his insights further. You could say he sort of does this in Zen's route when they both reconcile, reaching an understanding between each other.
As a Seer of Light, much like Rose Lalonde, he would provide advice in areas he is familiar with, and wields his relevance as CEO-in-line, his money and resources, to support Saeyoung and MC on their mission to save Saeran in the SEs.

feel free 2 ignore if sum1 has already asked but: shou or mashita for the ask game? :>
I'll do both! I put it under a read more because they got a bit long, haha...
Shou Nagashima
How I feel about this character: I love him so much, he's my all-time favourite character in the entire Spirit Hunter Series!! From his design to his personality, I love everything about him!!! He's so interesting to me, I love the bits of backstory we get about him. My favourite fight-first-ask-questions-later delinquent. (~ ꈍᴗꈍ)~♡
All the people I ship romantically with this character: I'm too embarrassed to say, lol... maybe one day I'll talk about it.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Him & Mashita!! I love them so much!! I want them to investigate cases and chase after criminals and go for drinks and smoke together!!! And he & Moe because the two of them being friends and going after spirits and being successors to Mashita & Yashiki makes me happy. ヽ(・∀・)ノ
My unpopular opinion about this character: I'm not a fan of how everyone in the fandom mischaracterizes him... I hate veering from canon and nobody even makes the fanonization interesting! They just turn him into an idiotic scaredy cat or some other cliche... It's really disheartening. He's canonically in a gang and he gets into fights and he went wild after his knee was injured and he got kicked out of his school's baseball club and he hates his school coach and he repeated a year and he has an unexplained scar on his face and he's the strongest out of all of the Mark Bearers!! There's so much to take and work with!!! But everyone turns him into either an idiot or a scaredy cat or... I don't know. It can be said about every character in Death Mark and NG, but Shou is special to me because he's my favourite, so it sucks the most to see it happen to him...
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Let him beat somebody up with his bat! Let him get into a fight and show off his strength!! Let him and Mashita be friends and investigate cases and solve mysteries together!! Let him show off his street smarts!!! \(≧▽≦)/
Mashita Satoru
How I feel about this character: I thought his character was funny and pretty interesting throughout Shiin, but he was especially funny in Shibito Magire! I like to think Shou's swearing wore off on him after those four months of being around each other, lol. Overall, he isn't one of my favourites, but he's definitely one of the characters I'm more interested in. ~(°▽°)~
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Sometimes Daimon, Hiroo or Ban. There are other characters, but they aren't coming to mind right now.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Him & Shou!! Thinking about the two of them investigating cases and watching out for each other and hanging out together heals my soul. ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ) And also him & Yasuoka, the way the two of them talk to each other is really funny, lol.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't like the ship between Mashita and Yashiki... it's always very fanonized and involves taking away the best parts of each character just so they work romantically. If it were canon-accurate, I might like it, but... I doubt it, lol. They work better the way they are in canon, as close friends and with Mashita as a person Yashiki can depend on for help in tough situations!! \(・∀・)/
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I want a Mashita game where we get to investigate cases, solve mysteries, and slowly veer into the world of spirits!! And I want more information on what he and Shou are like together since there are only clues to go off of in canon.

The girls have fun
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@inkfann @artismeyou-45 and @vickymcsworld in the school
This is the app game of "Anime Moe Girls"
They are Confilety with Cute, Ary and Becky. I wonder if there are more of our friends at school in the halls....
Also, this is a small graphic model of life that each of us is in very big school occupations, Confilety talks about this example that many of us are working in a connected way in what we do every day, for this I do not lose faith in keep thinking about what inspires us every day. The girls had to hang out about how time in class is often an adventure.
I hope you like it, and knowing that you are feeling well sometimes being out of this space, it is not always easy for me to deal with an external world that does not always fill me with motivation for what my dear girl and I do to want to work in our ideas, healing from certain blows that we have received, it is difficult for us to have to heal it better than ever.

2023 Self Check
Honestly, having an overall middling year where most of my troubles were my brain’s fault was kind of a breath of fresh air. Being out of commission for most of last year with a fucked up knee at least got me thankful every morning I can get up and walk around without a brace or cane. I don’t really agree with the doctors and my Dad that I’m “young” but I’m apparently still young enough I can heal. That said, I’m kind of let down in myself for letting depression and laziness get the best of me like, worse than usual this year. It hit kind of hard when sitting back and going through old archives of content and realizing that:
Sketch-A-Day was 2015 Eishi and Dixie was before that Revolver Knight ran from 2005-2008 or 2009
Meaning I’d basically failed to really deliver on any of the series/game/etc ideas I’d pitched from 2016 onward with the arguable exception of the dungeon crawler card game’s first version. If anyone was curious as to whether I’d touched on some of that stuff in the meantime the status of my Things right now is:
Angel Dust (The Gatty Thing)- Pretty much axed, as much as I love the character, it was kind of turning into edge for edge’s sake. The thing about Gatty Ling is I’ve had the idea of an erratic, destructive but adorable and well meaning character kicking around for ages but she’s kind of just a blank slate beyond those traits and I’ve tried to plunk her into like three completely unrelated settings with different origins. I was also attempting to kind of do a distinct art… sub…style with her stuff closer to a moe VN look, really pump up the cute to make the dark stuff pop, but well, Madoka already exists and the last iteration was basically Madoka with Robots. I probably wouldn’t rule it out forever but I’ve kind of been using some bits and pieces of the setting to flesh out the Plane Girls Thing
Revolver Knight Reload- I got like three pages into drawing a complete remake of my old webcomic, but kind of got cold feet from a combination of things. I didn’t think I was ready to take on another gigantic long form story, though I promise that the new version was *MUCH* more refined. Like Gatty, I wouldn’t say it’s *impossible* I mess with this, but I think I might look into something closer to a light novel with spot illustrations than a full on comic in the interest of like, finishing before I die.
Critical Heaven (The plane girl thing)- Still active, but having a bit of an identity crisis. It began as a ‘skirmish’ tabletop wargame then I got to thinking about it as more of a shmup-inspired duel game. The format of tabletop/print is also kind of iffy because I know people would be more likely to play it digitally and I have like, zip experience putting a substantial game project together. There’s also a more or less complete ‘campaign’ jotted half in my head and half in my notepad (putting it in a game with multiple endings would save me from deciding which ending to give it, hmmm.) But in short, yeah this is still being picked at.
Irrgarten (The Dungeon Card Thing)- I know I lead off with kind of the downer limbo thing but I’ve actually not totally abandoned this, definitely not the setting. Surprise, Radona is from this world! Really, I could probably bring this back pretty easily by revising the original game rules, the biggest issue we ran into play testing was that items didn’t ‘feel’ very valuable- characters were strong enough on their own not to need them. Maybe I can bump this up in priority.
There are probably other story ideas I’ve mentioned over the years and not followed up on, but characters from axed stuff do tend to surface in other projects if I’m attached enough to them. If there are any particular things that you enjoyed my work in or reading about in the past, do let me know. I’ve had a hard time motivating myself, so a nudge wouldn’t be a bad thing about now. Next year, I would really like to put more effort into having a regular “thing” to work on, maybe I’ll bring back some gag comics. Definitely plan to do more drawing in general because drawing one decent thing then going radio silent for two weeks leads to needing to de-rust like, every time. I’m a creature very vulnerable to inertia.
So, no promises here, but my goals going into 2024:
Put some time into practicing more ‘dynamic’ content like simple animation and game design since I have like three game making programs sitting around
Regular art posting, with a focus on improving quality and speed
Minding my health more since it’s easier to be active when there’s less of me to move
Establish a more regular streaming schedule since it helps me trim down my backlog
This kind of turned into more navel gazing than I had planned to be doing, but I thought this was a good time to touch base on some things since I’m back to posting here… well, okay, ‘regularly’ is a stretch, but there are a lot of things I’ve brought up before and not followed up on in a long time. If anyone has still been reading this- thank you, truly. I hope that with a bit more focus and less dwelling on the gnawing darkness in my gut, we can have some fun here again.
Oh, yeah, by the way- also been kicking around a top X games list I may get to posting soon, but may save for New Years Eve.

Colin Starts to Heal & Then It Somehow Gets Worse
by Beetlejuice_Maitland
“I couldn’t let you walk away from a match like that empty-handed.” “What the hell do you think you’re doing? He’s basically a minor and you’re threatening him with nude photos?” Rebecca exploded, slamming the pictures down on her desk as she stood to her full height. Rupert just chuckled softly. “I’m not threatening anyone, least of all a minor. I’m just giving Colin a reminder of our time together.”
~~~~~
After Colin confides in Rebecca about his trauma from Rupert, he begins to slowly heal by entrusting other Richmond staff with both his sexuality & his affair with Rupert.
