Luna could throw a good punch when she wanted, and Noctis was fine with letting himself be on the receiving end of one every now and then. She had to be so composed for public appearances anyway; a bruise that could be done away with a simple potion was nothing.

Novus, on the other hand...well, he was three years old. His tiny hands against Noct's thigh felt more like a nudge than a punch. It was way more adorable than threatening. But that didn't mean Noct wasn't going to ham it up to encourage Novus and make him laugh.

Whew. Okay. So. Anyways. There's a guy named Barbour who seems to be the first to use the name "Emoia" for these skinks.

Ohhhh what a FATEFUL encounter with a page dedicated to all the taxa named by Barbour! It might have a different source for the origin of the "Emoia" genus! Maybe one that is easy to access!!!

Barbour's usage of the name "Emoia" was in 1912.

It's possible that he is cited for USING the name in 1912, but the name had previously been established by some unknown individual who may or may not have seen a skink and thought "Goodness, this creature inspires emotion in me! I shall name it... Emo...ia!!"
