smth like the james somerton issue is why i hate the culture around video essays btw. when you have people who think writing an essay is collecting the work of others and presenting it as your own without ever seeing that as lacking academic integrity that’s when stuff like this happens. that’s why none of the commentary youtubers are video essayists — the research is so fundamental to the process.
and i LOVE video essays. but you can’t divorce them from academia in the ways that people want to for the sake of “not being pretentious” or whatever bc it literally just leads to stuff like this
#🦈#and im not saying every youtube essay has to be yk MLA formatted year-long research project#BUT some academic rigor in so called essayists would be nice!!!!#watched his apology and i really truly hope he’s doing well#and i hope hes in contact w hbomb wrt donating to the fund

Bakugou for All X Longshot:
Kaina reads Midoriya’s file and promptly asks Nedzu to triple-check that the HPSC wasn’t funding the MLA, because this sort of inhumane project seems right up their alley.
If it was the HPSC, they would've staged Midoriya's rescue to make him feel indebted and trusting towards them before asking for the special hero program thing. While the HPSC could easily be invovled in this kind of shit, it's lacking their thumbprint.
Doesn't mean she's not worried

//Fuck it cause I wanna use my Gundam muses more I'm making MHA AU for a majority of them.
Kira Yamato aka 'The Fox': A smart kid who was in an earlier class at UA before getting poached by the Hero Public Safety Commission after they learn his Quirk was artificially manufactured before he was born. They wanted him for clever spy work before he ultimately went off the grid and began some Vigilante work of his own
Sting, Stella and Auel: Second Gen Quirk Soldiers raised by the Meta Liberation Army. They're tasked up with spy work and subterfuge, on occasion they help to stoke up the fires to make people sympathetic to the cause. They were later folded into the PLF when the MLA was absorbed into the League of Villains.
Orga, Shani and Clotho: First Gen Quirk Soldiers raised by the MLA. If Sting, Stella and Auel were the spies and scalpels, these three were the hammer you send in to make a point. Ruthless in fight, but driven by fear of punishment if they fail. They come off as dysfunctional, but the reality is they practically are all they got in terms of 'family'
Shinn Asuka: A relatively normal quirkless student that met a tragic fate when his family was killed in a Villain attack, an act he witnessed. Despite the Hero Society and the abundance of Heroes with Quirks, no one was there. He managed to escape by the help of a cop and over time his feelings started to mound: anger, sadness, confusion. A villain attack like that in his neighborhood and no Heroes patrolling that zone? His anger started to manifest on both Heroes and Villains before he looked for ways to find his own power. First he volunteered for the Self Defense Forces at fourteen, then at age sixteen he volunteered for a Super Soldier Program: 'Project Jackal', funded in secret by the HPSC.

The context is not all that important (a letter to the New York Review of Books by the editor of a critical edition of William Dean Howell’s The Wedding Journey taking issue with Edmund Wilson’s criticism of said edition and the larger MLA project it was associated with, published in two parts across two issues, if you really must know, all of this being part of the battles over scholarship and funding that eventually led to the creation of the Library of America editions intended to keep significant American writers permanently in print in reliable editions free from typographical or editorial error) but I do love scholars arguing. Which, if you start reading scholarly and academic writing, turns out to be a large portion of it since often the reason a scholar bothers to write something is to correct what they believe other people have gotten wrong or to respond to people accusing them of being wrong (which is also why reading a single book or writer on a field tends to misinform to some degree because they’re pretty much always staking out a position relative to other people in the field and generally representing those people uncharitably if they’re directly acknowledged).

More Pictou County homes, businesses set to gain high-speed internet
More than 4,700 homes and businesses in Pictou County, N.S., are set to receive high-speed internet thanks to $10.6 million in funding announced by the province.
The municipality's fibre expansion project will cost about $53 million. In December, the federal government announced they will spend up to $31 million on the project, while the county is expected to contribute $10.6 million.
"The Nova Scotia Internet Funding Trust shares our commitment to provide Nova Scotians with high-speed internet access," said Community Services Minister Karla MacFarlane, MLA for Pictou West, on behalf of Public Works Minister Kim Masland, who shares ministerial responsibility for Build Nova Scotia, in a news release Tuesday.
The county began rolling out a fixed wireless service in December of 2022, which will eventually be made available to all residents in the zone.
“When the fibre is ready, people will be able to switch over,” read the province's release.
The province says residents and business owners in Pictou County and other parts of the province also have the option to get internet service faster through the provincial Satellite Internet Service Rebate Program.
The program provides an interim solution until fixed wireless or wired projects - such as the one in Pictou County - are complete.
“Thanks to sizeable federal and provincial contributions to our high-speed internet project, no individual and no business will be left behind, no matter where they are located in our rural municipality. This will encourage all of our communities to grow in numbers and in prosperity,” said Robert Parker, the warden with the Municipality of Pictou County.
The rebate covers the one-time costs for eligible homes and businesses to set up satellite internet, including hardware, shipping, installation and tax, up to a maximum of $1,000.
The Internet for Nova Scotia Initiative is on track to reach 98,500 homes and businesses by the end of 2023.
The province says the Pictou County project is expected to be complete by 2025, which would mean 99.99 per cent of Nova Scotian homes and businesses will have access to internet.

*Empowering Communities: N Chandrababu Naidu's Vision for Stronger Panchayati Raj Institutions in Andhra Pradesh*
N Chandrababu Naidu, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and a stalwart leader has left an indelible mark on the state's governance landscape by championing the cause of grassroots democracy and local governance. Guided by his visionary leadership and with the active involvement of TDP MLAs, concerted efforts were made to fortify Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), ushering in an era of participatory decision-making and effective governance at the grassroots level. Under N Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, the TDP government envisioned a dynamic system of PRIs that actively involved local communities in shaping their destinies. The overarching goal was to establish a decentralized model of governance, where PRIs would emerge as pivotal players in addressing local issues, implementing development programs, and ensuring social justice. TDP Contributions to this vision were significant, with the government actively working to devolve powers, functions, and finances to PRIs. Responsibilities in crucial sectors like rural development, agriculture, education, health, and sanitation were transferred, empowering local institutions to cater to the needs and aspirations of the people effectively.
Capacity building emerged as a cornerstone of the TDP's strategy, with a dedicated focus on enhancing the skills and knowledge of PRI members. Workshops, training programs, and orientation sessions were organized to equip representatives with the necessary tools to discharge their duties effectively. The TDP MLAs also ensured robust financial support for PRIs by enhancing budgetary allocations and streamlining fund flow mechanisms. Driving Progress TDP Remarkable Contributions to National Highway Development in Andhra Pradesh
In the ever-evolving landscape of Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has left an indelible mark on the state's infrastructure, particularly in the realm of national highways. Led by the visionary Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP government, which assumed power in 2014, embarked on a transformative journey to enhance the state's road network, thereby laying the groundwork for economic growth and prosperity.
The TDP's achievements in the development of national highways are nothing short of commendable. The government, under the sagacious leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, strategically implemented measures to streamline approval processes, secure proper funding, and adopt modern construction techniques. The result has been a significant expansion of the state's national highway network, a testament to the TDP's commitment to infrastructural development.
As of 2021, Andhra Pradesh boasts a robust network of 17 national highways, covering a staggering 4,600 kilometers. This substantial increase is a tangible outcome of the TDP's dedicated efforts to improve connectivity within the state and facilitate the seamless movement of goods and people nationally.
The impact of the TDP's contributions to national highway development extends beyond mere connectivity. The improved road infrastructure has catalyzed economic growth, particularly in vital sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and industry. The state's economy has received a significant boost, thanks to the efficient transportation facilitated by the expanded national highway network.
Key TDP leaders, including top MLAs and MPs, have played instrumental roles in driving the development agenda of national highways in Andhra Pradesh. Shri. N Chandrababu Naidu, during his tenure as Chief Minister from 2014 to 2019, personally oversaw pivotal projects, including the Chennai-Kolkata highway and the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam highway. His hands-on approach underscored the TDP's commitment to ensuring the timely completion and success of these critical infrastructure initiatives.
The involvement of TDP political leaders in the progress of national highways extends to individuals like Nara Lokesh, the son of N Chandrababu Naidu. As the Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj in the TDP government, Lokesh played a crucial role in the implementation of key national highway projects, contributing to the overall success of the infrastructural development agenda.
However, the journey has not been without challenges. Local communities affected by the construction of national highways have voiced concerns, leading to protests and agitations. Environmental considerations, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas, have also been a point of contention. In response, the TDP government has proactively addressed these concerns, implementing environmental impact assessments and adopting eco-friendly construction techniques to minimize the ecological footprint of these projects.
In the latest news, the TDP government's efforts in national highway development have garnered praise from various quarters, highlighting the positive impact on the state's overall development.
In conclusion, the TDP's contributions to the development of national highways in Andhra Pradesh stand as a testament to the party's vision for progress and prosperity. Beyond connecting cities and towns, the expanded highway network has catalyzed economic growth, reflecting the TDP's commitment to shaping a vibrant and well-connected future for the state. While challenges have arisen, the TDP government's proactive measures and dedication to overcoming obstacles underscore its unwavering commitment to the infrastructural advancement of Andhra Pradesh. Reckless research you say?
Quirk research you say?
Looking for an intelligence quirk with few questions you say?
🎶That’s A Cult🎶
Specifically either the Doctor looking to compensate for Nomu brain damage, the Commission trying to engineer artificial hero’s/their own personal Laplace, or the MLA doing research into ecto/OE and it’s potential to field quirks, like a more permanent version of Trigger.
Is it a major facility to break past the fabric of reality and nap the nearest dense concentration of ecto/OE it finds? Oh for sure, but is it the Main group? The leadership and sponsors? Hell no, and They just got confirmation this project has Potential. They just found a unicorn fund, one that could revolutionize Everything, no way they’re letting go so easily. Nezu is stuck playing Whack a Mole for Ages.
Question though, how the hell did they do this? Not just reaching out into the veil, but grabbing a Ghost, pulling them in, and shoving them into a new body While guiding the formation of a specific type of quirk? This is leagues above anything that could be reasonably accomplished with MHA’s tech level. So how did they do it? A mix of quirk mechanics and ghostly tendencies.
So Quirks! They run on ecto (sometimes referred to as OE or Otherside Energy outside of DP) to power all their lovely little reality breaking functions. Problem though, if they’re using ecto then how the hell hasn’t the world run dry of the stuff yet? Osmosis Baby! Low concentrations pull in high concentrations, possibly even pumping the stuff in as quirks advance and develop in complexity over the generations. More Fuel! And all it cost was the only defense between us and the uncaring void of the Veil!
Wait what
(WARNING, past this I derail into ideas for how Reality and the Zone might work and its history. Near 0 relevance to this post but I like it to much to delete. Gonna get back on track in the next reblog to this)
Cause you see, reality protects its squishy insides. Maybe not Well, but it try’s its best. Puts up walls and restricts access to doors with only the occasional rip forming a natural portal that’ll get healed over pretty quick. But everything has its limits.
I imagine worlds/realities as more resembling cells. Keep all the squishy insides safe with a protective covering, slowly generate energy, keep some basic protections from predators that might rip them open for their energy, and split into two nearly identical worlds when enough energy has developed. So what’s this energy? Emotions.
Ecto reacts to the stuff and quirks gets a power boost when under extreme stress, not an insane jump in logic to say they act as a power source.
Sounds good, but why did I mention predators, we never see anything like that in DP right? RIGHT? Buckle up cause things are about to get a bit dark
The Zone! Filled with a range of biomes, structures, and inhabitants ranging from firmly solid to an idea of a concept dreamed up somewhere ages ago and given a debatable physical form. Everything’s Fine! Little violent but overall okay. But! Where did all of this Come From?! Ecto is seemingly inert when left in a vaccume, how did it form People and Structures without any input?
Probably ties back to the early days. Not sure how or when the Zone came to be, or even if those ideas even apply considering Time is a ghost and physics are vague suggestions but if things Progress, ghosts are made and worlds spawn yet more worlds? There was an earlier time, one likely resembling the start of our cosmos but shifted a few degrees to the left. Skip forward an unfathomable amount of time and just like with our world you have Life! Kinda! It’s more like early ideas of life with little bits of goop figuring out how to make more of themselves. They grow and spread and multiply and fill the Realms and Then! One dies. Crashes into another world and turns its insides into outsides. Happens all the time, got Tons of world remains floating about in the form of ecto, but this one is different. This one had something resembling life in it, something that could Influence its surroundings. And now that it’s in the Void? It adapts. Is this common? Hell no, this is Super rare, rare enough for ecto quantities to be near suffocating, uninhabitable for anything not already adapted for it.
So that’s pretty cool, we got an idea for where ecto comes from (it’s like the heavy elements formed from supernovas, rare in the grand scheme of things but given sufficient time are Everywhere) and an origin for early ghosts. Didn’t answer the question girl! Where did the hell are the predators! Be Patient hypothetical dissenting voice! We’ll get there when we get there!
So these Porto-ghosts! They’re debatable alive, more a self perpetuating blob than a person but still! But they all fall on an adaptive curve. Too responsive to your environment? Gonna destabilize and turn into a smear of ecto. To strict? Can’t keep up with the ever concentrating ecto levels and eventually die from overexposure. The real kicker though? They can Grow. Gather energy to grow in power before splitting, like a mini version of reality but scavenging on their remains and each other. And Now we have evolution. And just like in our world as time passes they find new ways to protect themselves, gather energy, and split. And just like in DP, our world, and MHA they progress from small simple life forms to complex beings, partially thanks to forming a central point that holds their most valuable parts, their Core.
Skip forward and you have a variety of beings and a growing number of ways to gather energy, a proper ecosystem. One that’s built around hunting realities and other proto-ghosts for resources, and given enough time eventually they fall on the same set of circumstances to form intelligence. The first True Ghosts. Ones that, like all early ghosts at the time, have a core based around a central concept they can focus on to gather power.
We now have the Ancients
They follow the same path as all intelligent life has across the 2/3 worlds we have to refer back to and slowly kill off everything that threatens them. Slight problem, they’re weak as Hell compared to some of these things! Gotta find a way to fight without putting themselves into the line of fire. Easy solution! Make More ghosts! Take Souls (more like minds and influence), slap some ecto on, and Boom, you have your own custom ghost! Probably took ages to figure out the craft to keep from making simple proto/blob-ghosts but once they find out how to make cores they’re set.
Congrats! You’ve unlocked the Observants and Skeleton Army! Pretty cool but they require a Lot of souls. Enough to make an army you can throw at the nearest chunk of predators while protecting yourself from any other surprise threats. That kinda power requires harvesting resources, resources only easily found in Realities. They probably near run out by the end of it all. Overharvesting, wars, politics, conservation efforts, a whole history behind it all. But by the end the Ancients are left standing, having marked out their territories and formed a semi-cohesive structure and society based on combat and the constant formation of new ghosts.
Most ghosts? Probably designed. Stuff like Aargon and the Yetis an old lineage designed by ancients. Newer ghosts are more like fun projects for the ancients, usually formed without telling them their history and left to wander and be entertaining. Some stay out of this game entirely, some like Pariah Dark use this to fuel further conquest, and some like Clockwork turn the Game into a Masterpiece. Set up domino effects to create the Perfect pieces for a truly exquisite game, one that could change the very structure of ghostly society as it stands.
Behold! o/ The Face Of Benevolent Evil!
Mr. Principle! A professional hero and educator!
Also possibly some sort of stoat hybrid! Certainly a chimera of Japanese fauna! With the Quirk High Specs, he is one of, if not THE, smartest beings on the planet of which he resides! With a background perfectly justifying a decent into hatred and villiany, he instead chose to channel his incredible world shaking intellect into the shaping of future generations!
He likes to fuck with people!
For FUNSIES~☆!
What can he say? It keeps a man young and mentally stimulated! Plus the hysterical screaming of his staff and students is HILARIOUS. He can even argue it makes for good reaction training! Unforseen situations, children! React!!! *psychotic chortling*
Mmmmm, yes. We all have our trauma responses. Ways we deal with them. He should probably find other means... but he won't! Tea and tormenting the student body make for good future heroes, you know! They adapt!
But! You may ask! Why am I introducing you to this... *polite yet somehow deeply threatening smile* c-completely sane and normal individual!? Esteemed educator that he is! Ha ha...
A good and not at a under threat question!
Villains? Are fuuuuuckin STUPID!
Doesn't matter how many PHDs you possess! In fact! That makes it WORSE! You moron! You absolute fool! No traveling circus would have you, you sub-rate CLOWN of a jingle jangle dunce jester! You have a god damn PHD! Possibly MULTIPLE PHD!
And you thought "ooooh I should go into cwiiiiime~☆"?
Do you hear yourself when you talk? DO YOU?! Ooooh boohoo. They won't let you study what you WANT to study. It's called an ETHICS BOARD. And YEAH, NO SHIT! Maybe get over it and keep you fucked up fantasies to your SELF.
Or? If you REALLY can't hold it in? Lay the ground work like EVERYONE FUCKING ELSE! You're not special! Everyone wants to play god! It's FUN! They let you have the COOL toys! But you have to EARN that shit! Not jump straight from graduation to "fucked up superscience"!
And? If it's NOT the Ethics Board? But just some bureaucrat on a power trip? You don't have to fucking STAY. This? This RIGHT HERE? Is why I-Island fucking EXSISTS.
APPLY.
They are SO MANY countries you could move too. SO MANY other labs. You actual DUMBASS.
But NO! You decided to commit to a fucked up underground Villian Lab. As though HUNTING THOSE isn't the PERSONAL fucking passion project of THE SMARTEST BEING IN JAPAN. Frankly? You deserve this. You deserve this and our school doesn't know you. Never heard of you. You whoms't?
Coulda changed the world. But instead all you did was piss of The Fuzzy White Demon Lord of UA. Rest in pieces. *click*
*sound of doors smashing open*
*violent Raid Upon Your Labs noises*
But! You may ask? What's IN the Lab?
What MAKES this a DP crossover?
I like your question asking spirit! Good one! And the answer? You know what's better then ONE(1) Nedzu? A second one that you can ACTUALLY control this time! After all! You could consider Mr. Principle a prototype. A proof of concept, if you will. If you were able to make ANOTHER.....
Well, you would set off EVERY. SINGLE. ALARM. Nedzu has set up!
All of them!
Because he don't PLAY THAT.
He has long last trauma from the labs and is the SOLE FUCKING SURVIVOR. There WERE others. They Did Not make it. And their slow agonizing deaths are carved into his brain for the rest of his life. Truely "The living shall envy the dead"; it was a place that made hell seem merciful.
When he declare Never Again?
He fucking MEANT Never Again. He will BURN your empires to ash, with you in them. No More Labs.
So :) You can IMAGINE :) HOW HAPPY HE IS :)
That someone out there is trying to RECREATE his SUPER traumatic childhood, on ANOTHER CHILD. Ha ha! Gonna be a second Nedzu huh? Planning to torture HIM like you did me, HUH? Shove him in a cage and treat him like an animal? Force him to watch as the others die? Collars and whips and cattle prods? Mazes?!
Nedzu may lose his shit.
Juuuuust a little bit.
But if anyone there knows what good for them? They saw NOTHING. What's a little PTSD flashback between friends? Now what is the baby?
Smashcut to said baby!
Because it was a TEAM effort, Danny was successful in "Nuh Uh!"ing out of Rulership. But NOT out of governance. Since he DID help. He's a Councilman now. It's? Not as bad as it could be, honestly. Since it's opened the Zone up to a more democratic system.
Still held by "kick the ass of the person you wanna replace" but still!
Babysteps.
Thing is? There was apparently this weird? Leak? Like a couple hundred years ago, in this one area, that was never addressed. Everyone just moved their doors and stuff. Treated it like the floors flooded. But now that they HAVE someone to complain too?
They all want their territories back.
"Go fix it!" What are we? Janitors?
Danny looses the rock, paper, scissors competition. He's pretty sure Boxy cheated. But like? Dude has a kid to go home too, so Danny doesn't fight him to hard on this. Uuuuuugh. Just remember the Spider-Man motto. Great power~ blah blah blaaaah~
And? Wow is it fucked out there.
The whole PLANET has to be limnal as FUCK. Yikes.
Problem is? When he and his team (Because YES, he HAS learned from his mistakes, Jazz.) get close to the... frankly the Zone here looks like distorted spiderwebbing. With him leading the charge, obviously.
....something happens.
It's... it's not a portal. Wrong color. It's like someone USED the weird spiderwebbing effect to... to reach INTO the Zone? But they are severally Limnal. Clawed hands, blue tint. But that's not the problem.
No, the problem.
The Horror.
The thing that his team can only watch on in agonized terror as it plays out... is that hand? It shoots out of nowhere. Ghostlike in the Zone. Meaning it must be living. And PLUNGES directly into Danny's chest to wrap around his core.
Time seems to slow.
He can't even scream in pain. At the violation. His team, acquaintances, yes, but friendly ones. Can not even cry out in horror, as they watch their friend and team lead be butchered before them. Before that uncaring hand is ripping back. Perfect ice and starlight in its uncaring grip.
For a terrible moment... he is in two places at once.
Then he is crushed in a burning grip. Like molten bars. Watching his own body dissolve into nothing in an instant, pain and horror still etched upon his face. The beginnings of screams ripping from his team as they jerk away from the nightmarish threat.
Then he can not think at all.
He... he TRIES. Knows he has been captured. Is certainly not the sort to give up easily. But... he's so tired. His body feels? Weird. Not wrong, per say. It's HIS. But... small and weird. Like he's shape shifted into a new form and hasn't adjusted yet.
....
.......
...........
He's getting really sick of all the goop against his whiskers and in his ears. It feels WEIRD against his fu- WAIT a second... did those assholes shove him into an animal? Why?! To contain him? Ha! Jokes on them! He's DONE THIS before!
For FUN!
He once spent a whole ass summer as a tiny dragon just 'CAUSE!
Unfortunately, said assholes notice him waking up. Dump him in a glorified hamster cage. But like.... a SHITTY "I don't care about the pet I bought" hamster cage. Dude. And he's naked.
Is that Japanese? Ooooh! It IS! Thank you, Tucker's Weeb phase.
......actually, never mind. Lotta dehumanizing language there, my guys. What is this? The GIW international? You couldn't even give me PANTS? Swear to God, call me an "it" ONE more time and the next time I have to go? I am going to aim through the bars at your-! *alarms going off*
....wasn't me.
I mean, be all means, ha ha and get fucked, but? Wasn't me. Oh hey! Some one exploded the doo-
AND? In Lab 4?
Nedzu finds a child with fluffy, ungroomed black and white fur, and the curious yet cautious eyes of a survivor. They are the most magnificent green, pale and luminous they glow in the laboratories lighting. Paws too big for his small frame, delicate ears on the swivel, equally large. Yet to grow into either. Adolescent, at best.
He watches the child take him in. Note his features and the chaos behind him. The injured scientist under his feet. Come to him conclusion. Nedzu will not rush him. Now that he... he stand the chance to be the hero he himself never had. It is a strange feeling. At once cathartic and unbearably painful.
He is given the equivalent of a cheerful grin, as the lad points the the lock on the cage. Is asked if he happened to bring a spare pair of pants. He can not help his amused chortle as he makes quick work of the lock. The unbearable RELIEF he feels.
He... he was not too late.
These monsters had no chance to crush the boy's light. To make a monster of him, like they did with him. He survived his laboratory, his hell. But not all of him left that terrible place. He knows that. Some innocence, some goodness, died alone in the dark. But here? He insured there would be no chance.
With amusement, he watches the boy turn the lab upside down until he finds spare scrubs. Triumphant, he then considers his own, tiny claws. Dismisses them. Attempts to hop up on a chair to retrieve something sharp. It? Is unbearably cute. To watch him rip and shred, problem solve. His little mind churning away. Whiskers twitching as his eyes dart around, considering his options.
Nedzu offers one of his spare knives.
Watches him light up.
Adorable~
