Quick before I head back out to work from lunch, music I think that all of the people on this blog would listen to in universe (with examples!)-
Spamton/Spaul: 20s jazz and 50s rock, with a dash of music from the 90s every now and then
Coral: Woman-driven 80s pop and rock; anywhere from Blondie to Kate Bush to the Waitresses
Saffron: Music that he thinks would put his clients at ease; not necessarily “relaxing” music but music with a certain vibe. Borders on retail music occasionally, lol he is an Addison
Navy: The heavier side of the 80s, stuff like AC/DC and hair metal
Clem: Woman-driven punk all the way! Anything from Joan Jett to No Doubt to the Beaches to Wet Leg
Cordelia: Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, idk it feels very very right lol
Tenna: Showtunes and the You Bet Your Life game show theme
Stringpuller is basically me so she has my tastes and Gaster doesn’t care for music 😂

Hey gaster How many Of you are currently existing in your point of the void?
They may be stuck in a place that is as endless as it is unbridled to the rules of metaphysical reality-
But at least they each get cool doors…

Mike is almost certainly going to be a Shadow Crystal Boss. Here's why:
So what makes a Shadow Crystal boss?
The first Shadow Crystal boss was Jevil, and aside from being really out of the way and giving us a Shadow Crystal for completing his fight, the narrative uniqueness of Jevil stems from an implicit past encounter with a Dr. W. D. Gaster.
Particularly, during this encounter, Dr. Gaster apparently revealed secrets to Jevil that caused him to go nuts like he is now. Secrets that Seam says caused their worldview to become "Darker yet darker" as a result of 2nd hand exposure. Causing Jevil to begin saying things that "Didn't make sense, but didn't quite not make sense either."
The idea of Gaster having access to and spreading forbidden knowledge is already something incredibly in line with what we know about Gaster from Pre-Deltarune.
The 2nd Shadow Crystal boss is everyone's FAVORITE [[Number 1 Rated Salesman1997]], Spamton G. Spamton.
Spamton is also suggested to have had a past run-in with Gaster and since then has similarly gone kooky bananas. Gaster communicated with Spamton on the phone and was said to be speaking through Garbage noise the whole time, which fits into the eldritch unknowable wrongness that surrounds Gaster.
It may be tempting to assume that Gaster once again spread cursed knowledge to Spamton and that's why he's gone nuts, but such is actually not the case. Instead, Spamton actually went nuts because Gaster left, taking with him whatever unnatural edge his partnership seemed to give Spamton, causing Spamton to abruptly fall from fame and fortune into poverty.
However, Spamton isn't simply Insane. Along with that, he has a strange speech quirk where his voice gets taken over by various ads. Such a quirk is never mentioned by the Adisons who knew him prior to Gaster despite it being extremely noticeable and frankly offputting in nonhumorous contexts.
What's especially interesting is that his speech in two specific instances gets replaced with what instead of ads seems to be a signal of someone calling for help in the darkness. Suggesting what could already be assumed that these ads overriding Spamton's dialogue are signals he is receiving from across Cyber City.
Such an implication seems to connect to one other noticeable quirk with Spamton's character, his puppet-ness.
Spamton is blatantly associated with being a Puppet in the NEO battles, with green marionette strings coming from the sky piloting him, but even outside these battles, he's presented in a way that's reminiscent of a different kind of Puppet. A Ventriloquist's dummy.
Ventriloquism involves making a Puppet seem as if it has a voice, speaking words that the ventriloquist is actually speaking.
This obviously connects to Spamton's speech quirk, and we're meant to assume that all of this is a result of Gaster's involvement in Spamton's affairs back in 1997. Implying that at that point in the past, Gaster made Spamton a Puppet and highjacked his voice via ventriloquism.
From this, we can conclude that Gaster used Spamton to further spread his influence and/or the kind of cursed knowledge he had spread to Jevil before. (Presumably in the direction of some person or group that existed in the Cyber World, although Dark-world world boundaries in Deltarune are hella vague so it's impossible to be truly sure.)
This combined with the fact that Spamton directly references Jevil as if having met him, (despite Jevil having literally zero relevance to Spamton as a character,) suggesting that the Shadow Crystal bosses have connections to each-other, which presumably is going to be a running theme, generates an interesting potential premise.
One of the next Shadow Crystal bosses is going to once again have been driven mad by Gaster's forbidden knowledge, but this time through Spamton's ventriloquized mouth.
However, I believe that there is an existing character that's been established that we can be relatively sure is the future Shadow Crystal Boss in question: Mike.
Mike is a Character Spamton references whom he seems to miss and mourn as if he's an old friend whom he no longer is in touch with, the one and only character that Spamton seems to still hold fond feelings for.
However, if Mike had simply left Spamton because he wasn't rich anymore, Spamton should HATE him. There are a huge number of people whom he hates in Cyber World because they ceased working with him after losing his fame, and it's unlikely that Spamton would care so deeply about Mike if he had only become Mike's friend because of his short time of fame anyway.
So what happened?
Well, Most likely what happened is that Mike left because he was scared of what was coming out of Spamton's mouth. Gaster was speaking some horrible truths from Spamton's mouth and Mike couldn't take it and just up and left. Something Spamton blames himself for.
But even after leaving for another Dark World (which is apparently just a thing Darkners can do,) the forbidden knowledge followed him, and eventually, he went mad just like Jevil did.
It's possible that he might be the Shadow Crystal Boss of the 3rd chapter, given the vague possible connection between Mike and Tenna, a force who is going to appear in chapter 3, but it is not wholly necessary, and I'd say it only has a shot above pure chance if the time where Spamton mentions both Mike and Tenna in the same conversation is to be interpreted as implying Tenna tarnished Mike's reputation or something similar.

There’s a theory I have been making and I have seen some other people on the deltarune reddit arrive at the same conclusion independently but basically Mike could actually be a short hand for microphone.
Why is this relevant? Well you know the song “Video killed the radio star”? It’s about how a new form of media (TV) replaced radio as the main entertainment for families and for music. What do people use in radio? Microphones.
Now microphones aren’t abandoned completely today and are still used alot but radio lets be honest is becoming obsolete in terms of entertainment. No one listens to an actual radio unless it’s in our car. Today if we want entertainment and music we can stream it, watch it on YouTube or watch it on tv back when mtv was a thing. Being discarded and forgotten by most seems to be one of the key criteria for secret bosses.
If we do meet Mike and he is some sort of microphone/radio themed character, his story could play a bit like this.
He used to be the big shot in the industry, the most popular and beloved. He helped Spamton out by advertising him on the radio. One day however Tenna came into existence and supplanted him as the big guy. Tenna didn’t completely discard Mike and decided to keep him around as a host for an irrelevant daytime show no one watches or something like the spamton sweepstakes idk. He grows resentful and bitter because his place has been taken and no one watches or listens to him now. He longs to be in the spotlight again.
If he is a secret boss I have no idea where or how he would meet the strange someone that made spamton and jevil insane. He may just be a mini boss, reference or be the second rook ( if we are following chess theory to a T). He may not even appear yet.
This theory really has no concrete evidence besides the fact that mike sounds like microphone and that could be a complete coincidence so make of it what you will.
Some thoughts on Tenna & Mike for Deltarune Chapter 3
So I have been sitting on some theory for a while regarding the upcoming Tenna & why I think Spamton demonizes him. I’d like to say for the record that both the latter & Mike must’ve been good friends at some point & Tenna may have done something horrible to Mike due to some VERY shady deal or something that Tenna put together according to Spamton’s dialogue, “KRIS!!! DON’T BELIEVE [[Anything You See On TV!]] THE MAN’S A CRIMINAL, I TELL YOU!! A CRIMINAL!!” or atleast that’s what I think happened anyway. He didn’t kill him mind you, but probably ended up putting Mike in a similar situation like Jevil & Spamton as another secret boss. I think that’s what happened mainly because of the way Spamton talks about Mike sometimes with dialogue such as, “WE DON’T NEED ANYONE ELSE!!! WE DON’T NEED [[Easels]] or [[CRTS]]! WE DON’T NEED ANY [[Man, Woman, or Child]] [[At Half Prince]]!! WE DON’T NEED [[MIKE]]!!! ……Mike… as well as this in one of the secret pages of the Sweepstakes “EVERYONE IS GOING TO PAY [5 easy payments of $9.99] UNTIL THEY’RE ALL IN THE [Disposal Area] BEGGING FOR MY [$#{*]!!! EVERYONE…EVERYONE EXCEPT……Mike…”. He must’ve felt that Mike did not deserve whatever Tenna did to him in the past. Do you think this is accurate for now or maybe you think something else is happening? Feel free to tell me if you wish!

*…WELL. I SUPPOSE THAT IS ALL OF THE TIME WE HAVE TO INTERACT WITH THE PAST FOR THE TIME BEING. I AM SURE MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO DO SO WILL PRESENT THEMSELVES…HOWEVER, MY HOLD ON THE RIFF GROWS THIN.
*I TRUST ALL OF YOU HAVE SAID EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANTED TO HIM…AND SEEN HOW BETTER OFF HE WAS BACK THEN, TOO. YOUR ATTACHMENT AS AN AUDIENCE TO A BROKEN PUPPET FASCINATES ME. TRULY.
*BUT NEVER MIND THAT FOR NOW. IN THE MEANTIME, I SHALL TAKE MY LEAVE BACK TO…ELSEWHERE, SHALL WE SAY. WE WILL MEET AGAIN SOON. FAREWELL FOR NOW.
The connection to the past is severed, the image of a rattled but still somewhat confident Spamton fading from view in a glitching swirl of purple, pink, and yellow. Through it all, distorted fragments of time stick out audibly as you are gradually returned to the present.
*Thank you!! Thank you, everyone…I’m thrilled to have been rated the number one salesman this past year!! I’d like to thank…thank…
*W-What? Don’t get cocky?? Mike, I think I can afford to be a little cocky right now-

*…Please. I don’t know if you can [[F1]]-Help, me, but…a Lightner made you, right? I don’t know what else to do…
*You “understand what I’m going through”?! No you don’t, ‘Delia!! Your success has never been hung on teeny tiny little [[$5.99 door hinges]] that could fall apart at any moment!! …Please, leave me alone for now. I just need to call him back…
*…Huh? What’s this little thing doing in here? Looks like…some kind of jewel…
*Mike. I know you’re there. I saw something. I saw Heaven. How do I get there?! How do I get back everything and keep my-
*WHAT [[store-wide savings are happening now!]] T0 M3?!?
*H-EY HEY, SWA[[Easels]]…IT’S…ME!! YOUR [friend request-] FRIEND, SPAMTON!! LISTEN-
*SWATCH, [[don’t leave me here!]]!!! MANAGER, QUEEN, [anyone…]!!! I’m burning!! Don’t let me—
*HA…HA…HAEAHEAHEAHEHAEHAEHAE!!! 1’LL GET THERE ONE DAY!!! I’LL G3T THAT [workout ready body] AND GET TO [Heaven] 4ND THEY’LL ALL [[you’ll be sorry~]]!!! TH3Y’LL SEE I’M ST1LL A [[BIG SHOT]]!!!! JU$T U WAIT…
There’s another manic, sped up cackle, much more like the ones you’re accustomed to, before everything goes silent and dark. And then…
The roof’s finally finished loading, separating himself from that always dark sky he hates so much. Although, lately it’s seemed just a little less oppressive. All that’s left is for the rest of the store in fix itself. Considering ruined shelves are still clipping against the ground like that were just destroyed, that could take a while…
*…[Hazelnut] HASN’T [stop on by!] T0DAY…SHE 4LWAYS DOES ON HER WAY [[homes outside the city]]…
Despite that disquieting thought, Spamton G. Spamton-occasionally known as “Spaul”-doesn’t move from the spot behind his desk. He’s back to being the broken, plastic puppet that’s familiar to you, with a glitchy voice that’s unable to properly form coherent sentences. His wide smile seems a little strained, though, and his glasses have a certain glimmer to them. He’s not moving-because what would it look like if he showed up to her job unexpectedly?-but is absolutely concerned for her.
That’s when a headache inducing pulse of garbage noise, static, and memories pangs through his head suddenly, making him throttle backwards with an uncomfortable glitch and onto the floor as a result. Knocking his systems offline as they process whatever just happened for just long enough for a certain someone to speak through him.
*…Is anyone listening? If you can hear me, please, help-
The static is forcefully booted out of his systems, and he jolts upright while rubbing his head. Everything’s fine-well, relatively, anyway-but there’s something just a little different. In his head, in his memories. A certain section of the garbage and out of tune nonsense has cleared, and it’s as if a few cherry picked moments from his past, from his height as a big shot, happened only a day ago…
He weakly turns to the audience, squinted marbles appearing in his glasses as he points at them.
*…WH4T DID YOU [[chaos enjoyers]] 0F AN [studio audience] DO TH1S TIME…??
#(and that’s a formal wrap on the fame era event!! again thank you all so so much for coming along for the ride 😊)#(I enjoyed it very much and I’d definitely be up for visiting the past again someday)#(but in the meantime Spaul is back!! so definitely pester him if you want)#(he’s got…questions. for sure lol)#TUNING IN-status#MIKE-wd gaster#ONE WEIRD TIP-in character#EVENT: look into the past

Scamcair and The Existential Dread Lurking In My Mind :D
Hello all and welcome to tonight's posting of a bit of fanart and interpretations of, what I would assume to be, an AU of one of my friends in this sphere. But first, a prelude and a check in with my mental health.
As you all know by now, I am a System. I live with my Headmates in this Headspace where we all must suffer together. In all truth, we have been doubting ourselves. We've all been feeling this bit of existential dread on whether we truly are a System or not, on whether we're anything we say that we are. I hate to drag all of you, those who may not understand my personal pain, but I feel like I should state it for the record. I do not want it to go unsaid that I have been having these thoughts, but I also want to say that being a System has been freeing to us all. Our collective lives have felt so different in the best way possible from just the fact that we know what we are and that we have embraced it.
However, this was not the place to say all of this, I will admit. What I may also admit is that I have been both drawing Spamcair and have been drawing my interpretations of what this "Grimm Deltarune" character in my good friend Mr. Chaos's Self Insert AU could possibly be. After all, I would be the most knowledgeable person to ask what I would look like. . .At least I'd assume.
Firstly, my sketches of Scamcair.
I decided to take a few creative liberties with the design and add a few more elements from outfits of classical composers as well as adding more detail to the design in general. To @mrchaosman and @mercair , I hope I did this design justice in your eyes.
Secondly, we have my interpretations of myself, as well as my System, as what we could look like in a "Self Insert AU Chapter Three."
Take One - Take One is my idea for myself/Serena as the main boss of Chapter Three. I based her design off of an outfit that Serena just loves to be drawn in as well as incorporating ideas from mob bosses and rook chess pieces for the design as a whole.
Take Two - Take Two is my idea for my System as one collective secret boss. I based the design of Macabre off of lost media creepypastas as well as rabbits and an outfit my System has taken a liking to. The reason for the choice in making them a Bunny was because The True Mike Deltarune is a Bunny actually. . .And no other reasons whatsoever. Anyway, I can imagine Macabre as either an empty husk or a puppet that can flip on a dime to any one of the six people locked inside of her. Anyway, I represented my System by making us FRIENDs because we're all friends around here! They can shift Macabre's body at will because that's pretty cool and body horror-y if I do say so myself.
Take Three - Finally, Take Three was my idea for My System in the place of WD Gaster. This basically just resulted in me drawing our sonas as Goners which was pretty fun in all honesty. I do not know why I made Helvetica the Mystery Man sprite equivalent though.
And that, my friends, was a bit of fanart for Scamcair's AU that Mr. Chaos Man kind of just put me in for no real reason other than for the funsies. I hope you all enjoyed your time reading through this and found the designs passable. To all a goodfright. . .
-Sincerely, Jackal.

Top 5 fictional characters who make the WORST decisions? You can pick a specific medium (video games, books, TV shows etc) if the list is too long!
Oh, man, I love so many characters who make bad decisions! This is going to be tricky.
I'm not sure whether your question was 'who are your five favourite characters who make terrible decisions?' or 'of your favourite characters, which five make the worst decisions?', so I'll give you two lists.
Five terrible decision-makers who I love, emphasis on 'who I love':
Sean Diaz from Life Is Strange 2. Look, I cannot blame this kid for going on the run with his nine-year-old brother. He was panicking, the police were coming, and a police officer had just ruined his entire life, so naturally he was unwilling to stick around and encounter more of them. It was a deeply understandable decision, but it was nonetheless a decision that fucked a lot of things up.
Ellie from The Last of Us. I started loving Ellie in the first game, which was before she started making really terrible decisions. But I still love her after her desperate 'if I kill enough people, I'll feel better, right? right???' quest of the second game, and that definitely means she qualifies for this list.
Jack Shephard from Lost. Jack is a grieving, angry, unstable mess who's been thrown into a leadership position when he's barely clinging onto any form of reason with his fingernails. He has a lot of intense feelings, a gigantic saviour complex, poor self-control and no ability to delegate. Everything he does is a) guaranteed to blow up in his face and b) absolutely fascinating to me.
James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2. Look, if your dead wife tells you to come to a town, and then the town is full of monsters, you turn around and leave. I feel like there was another big terrible decision he made too, but I can't - I can't quite remember. That's weird. I wish I had a recording or something to jog my memory.
Light Yagami from Death Note. Light is very smart, but he's also very proud, and he loves using his own intelligence to convince himself that the correct course of action coincidentally happens to be the thing he really wants to do. Yes, if he kills these people in this way, it'll make him look suspicious. But that's what he wants! It's all part of his ingenious plan to catch L, and totally not just because he wants to send L a personal 'fuck you' message. The 'fuck you' is coincidental. This is a very smart move.
Five terrible decision-makers who I love, emphasis on 'terrible decision-makers':
Seifer Almasy from Final Fantasy VIII. One of the first terrible decision-makers I ever developed a fondness for! Seifer, you can't assist an evil sorceress in taking over the world just because you think it's cool and romantic and you really want to show up your rival at school.
WD Gaster from @zarla-s's Undertale fancomic Handplates. Gaster is an expert in doing terrible things while convincing himself that there's definitely, definitely no other course of action. He's awful and I love him.
Chloe Price from Life Is Strange. Chloe is an absolute disaster in a way I find refreshing from a female character. Playing Life Is Strange is a struggle because I want Chloe to like me, but everything she wants me to do is terrible. I don't want to steal money or shoot people or hang up on my distraught friend, Chloe!
Aaaaand Jack Shephard and Light Yagami again. Fascinating characters. I could watch them making ill-advised decisions all day.
Honourable mentions to the other characters who crossed my mind while I was working on these lists:
Mike Munroe from Until Dawn
Lightning 'look, I don't expect punching a god in the face to go well, but I reeeeeally want to punch this god in the face' Farron from Final Fantasy XIII
Jeff Winger from Community
Mondo Owada from Danganronpa
Dr Cox from Scrubs
Keiichi Maebara from Higurashi. I realise there are extenuating circumstances, but murder isn't going to solve your problems! Stop murdering people!
The instant I post this, I'm going to think of twenty other characters I should have mentioned.

Concept: I feel like the Knight, Gaster, and Ralsei all represent the three potential futures for Deltarune.
The Knight represents the Roaring and a future of Darkness. Considering they’re going around opening Dark Fountains and are called the Roaring Knight, I feel like this is obvious. The Knight has some attachment to Dark Worlds and Darkners, and seems to want to cover trigger the Roaring, hence the title ‘the Roaring Knight.’
(Unrelated but I wonder where Queen got the moniker ‘Roaring Knight’ from? Because she doesn’t know what the Roaring is. Did the Knight call themself that?)
Gaster represents the Angel’s Heaven and a future of Light. Despite his most infamous lines being ‘dark, darker, yet darker,’ there’s actually a growing association between himself and light. For one, the ‘Light’ seems to be associated with ‘layers of reality’ above a character’s own reality. Lightners exist in a realm where Darkners are just toys... and we exist in a realm where Lightners are just pixels and programming. Gaster is one of the few characters capable of directly addressing us-- and he admits to looking forwards to creating a ‘brighter future’ with us.
Furthermore, if Gaster is the unknown person who interacted with Jevil and Spamton, then it’s interesting that both fixated upon light-affiliated themes and concepts, right? Spamton fixates upon ‘Heaven’ (Angel’s Heaven) while Jevil fixates upon ‘freedom’ (we have more freedom than the Lightners who have more freedom than the Darkners). Perhaps he’s trying to create a future where Darkners are given as much freedom and self-awareness as the Lightners, only for most of his ‘subjects’ to get horrible existential crises?
So if the Roaring Knight represents extreme darkness, and WD Gaster represents extreme light, what does Ralsei represent? That’s simple, and he tells us straightforwardly: Ralsei wants balance. When an extra Dark Fountain throws things out of whack, he asks Kris and Susie to help him close it and restore balance. But he doesn’t want to wantonly destroy all the fountains or leave the Darkners as objects forever. He welcomes all of them, even King, into Castle Town as the city slowly grows. (And I’ve got a theory that ‘a single massive Dark World’ was a thing in the past and how things were always meant to be, considering how Darkners from very different Dark Worlds, like King and Queen, or Jevil, Spamton, Mike, and Tenna, all seem to know each other).
But he also doesn’t want Kris and Susie to spend all their time in the Dark World and neglect the Light. He gives them their dream rooms, but unlike Queen who locks up the Lightners, he immediately playfully banishes Kris and Susie from Castle Town until they finish their homework.
Ralsei also seems to display extremes of both Darkner and Lightner nature, as behavior others have found suspicious. On the Darkner side, Ralsei is the greatest proponent of how things ‘should’ be, constantly defaulting to Kris for decisions. On the Lightner side, he shows awareness of the layout of Kris and Susie’s school, and it’s theorized he’s aware of us, the Player, to some extent. Perhaps Ralsei, like Gaster, is self-aware, but purposefully chooses to keep playing the part of a Darkner instead of desiring more like Jevil and Spamton do.
If this does turn out to be the case, then it’ll mean Ralsei is a flawed person, but probably the best option between two possible apocalypses. It’s also interesting in that Chapter 1 ends with Ralsei concluding that kindness and pacifism can’t solve everything, but you can’t stay aggressive and guarded all the time either. So if it does turn out to be a case of ‘Ralsei represents the middle ground between extreme light and extreme darkness’... that’s a bookend to the lesson of Chapter 1, isn’t it? Extremes to either end can be destructive, find a middle-ground that allows you to be flexible depending on circumstances.
...Might be reaching. But I wonder if Gaster represents ‘extreme friendship and generosity’ while the Knight represents ‘extreme aggression and bitterness’. Gaster trying to ‘help’ Jevil left him locked up and shunned, and trying to ‘help’ Spamton left him utterly reliant on another. While maybe the Knight is bitter at reality and the whole world and thus chooses to destroy it, or shut it all out? Idk.

This is a tough one for me to answer in the context of CALL SIGNS, since most if not all of the characters in it are human versions based on their in-game counterparts in Deltarune Chapter 2.
But if we're going by "character who had the biggest share of the spotlight in chapters written between January 2023 and December 2023", then it has to be Mike Cowley.
Mike Cowley [WD Gaster] didn't get a lot of emotional development, since he's a posthumous character and pretty much only being viewed through the lens of an unreliable narrator [Spamton]. Thus readers may be left with the feeling that Mike's a cardboard villain. But all of Mike's "screen time" was written during 2023.
If we're talking about "wow, this character's come a long way", then it would be Regina "GiGi" McCray [Queen/Q5U4EX7YY2E9N]. From a flat joke character only there to make T.M. look good, in my notes files GiGi has gained a lot of emotional fleshing-out and will be moving onto center stage in future chapters.
which oc would you say was your ‘oc of the year’? (because you made them this year, they had the most development this year, or you just feel like it)
