'IPG Mediabrands and Plano launched #SeePastTheScreen, a national pro-bono campaign to drive awareness of myopia in Singapore, known as “the myopia capital of the world.” The campaign uses the “square eyes” parable, which refers to how one can go “squared-eye” when watching too much television, to drive home the message that excessive device usage has been scientifically linked to myopia.'
This advert was released in 2019 and is one of the only myopia campaigns that is purely put in place to be a deterrent, it doesn't have any visuals of children outside which is the route most health companies have taken to encourage change in behaviour.
This reminds me of the way smoking packaging focuses on the visual horrors of cancer and infant loss. its a very impactful and direct response to a problem that promotes immediate action and would hopefully lead to a person sourcing alternatives by doing further research.
