in fact, people with EDS call themselves Zebras because of the whole "when you hear hoofbeats think horses not zebras" but we are what happens when it is actually zebras. doubling the irony of anon's insane "contribution"

I have never known a medical professional who doesn't take POTS seriously *at all* either, and it was very clear that anon doesn't actually know fuckall about POTS (or MCAS or related conditions for that matter, despite alluding to them). like I said to anon, POTS cannot be faked like that. especially long-term. my heart rate went from mid-70s sitting to 170s standing. good luck faking that fr. especially /every single time you ever stand up/ (like any fitness watch can show you is happening)

I had a bunch of tests done to get my diagnosis, and then had to see multiple cardiologists post-dx in order to even begin to get an attempt at treatment. the first treatment the final cardiologist tried made me BEDBOUND for FIFTEEN MONTHS. in college!!! I was using a cane through half of college. POTS is not a joke and doesn't fuck around.

my life changed once I found ivabradine (corlanor), but that took quite a while. and even then it took me YEARS to get a real prescription (during which time I relied on free samples from a saintly doctor) because only the brand name Corlanor was available in the USA until literally a couple of months ago, and most insurances wouldn't cover it for POTS because it's for heart failure so it's an off label use. and brand name Corlanor is EXTREMELY expensive. and I qualified for Amgen's financial assistance program and got rejected anyway, btw. I have to take such a high dose that I need two prescriptions of it a month, which costs ~$1300. I had to switch jobs to get on an insurance plan that was willing to cover it for POTS (after a huge fight). when I had to leave that job, I had to start buying the market version of that (gold tier PPO) insurance for $1000/month because that was still cheaper than the medication.

you can't even comprehend how much money I've spent over the past decade to be remotely functional POTS-wise, and again, I consider myself VERY lucky. I have something that works. even though I frequently have gaps in my access to it, even though I have to constantly fight with doctors, insurance, and pharmacies to maintain it. despite the insane expenses. I am very very lucky POTS-wise. I have seen what unlucky looks like.

vEDS & the 24/7 chronic pain is a whole other beast, as are the associated extensive and debilitating issues like GI problems and migraines.

I don't talk about this stuff a lot on here, because I don't see any point to it. it's just gonna depress people. but that anon was appallingly ignorant and spreading misinformation. anyone who has insight into the real lives of people with POTS, EDS, MCAS, gastroparesis, etc., would understand how horrific these are to deal with, not just on their own, but in terms of things like living life (working a job, social life, etc) and dealing with the US healthcare system as well. not to mention that vEDS likely cuts my lifespan in half.

💐 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑒𝑑 𝑉𝑜𝑤𝑠

A Wedding. Something usually done out of love, and an incredibly 'aesthetic' and pure event. On a Sunny day in May, Daphne Poca, the Headmaster of Moon child Academy, and Dire Crowley, Night Raven Colleges Headmage, decided that in order to upgrade their School reputation, a festival was to happen to attract lots of attention on Social media and to strengthen the Bonds between students. When looking for Ideas, a teacher of Moon Child Academy stepped up. "How about we act out a Wedding?"

And so it was decided:

The girls of MCA around the ages 16, 17 and 18 were to be paired with the students of NRC for a photoshoot and film shoot to act out a wedding, as accurately as possible. But only a limited amount of NRC Students were to play the Groom, the selected ones being Vil Schoenheit, Riddle Rosehearts, Malleus Draconia, Jamil Viper, Ruggie Bucchi, Azul Ashengrotto and Idia Shroud.

So now it had been decided. But, halfway through preparing, Dire Crowley decided that the dear Ramshackle Prefect was gonna be the wedding Planner instead.

The sudden change was of course massive chaos, and it took a while to organize everything again, but eventually, the planning was once again going smoothly and perfectly.

Too perfectly.

🍄 Soooo this is something I decided on together with my Headmates! Yes, I know, there is already a wedding related event in Twst. But this is an Cool idea!! Anyways!

i tapped the steering wheel nervously, looking out the window at the crowded house. an old friend of mine named rick rubin invited me to this party a band he knows is having. i obviously said yes and now i’m sorta regretting it. i sigh in annoyance at the fact i have to go in, i already said yes and i can’t back out. i step out my car, the cold air hitting my bare skin. my arms get goosebumps and i slightly shiver. i locked the car and started my way to the house. it was one of the members’ house, i think his name was mike or something. i hope that rick was already inside, not knowing anyone here. i shove my way through the front door, loud cheering and chants boomed throughout the house. i head towards the kitchen, wanting to prepare myself a drink. i grab a red cup and pour whatever bottle i saw first. i downed it quickly and grimaced at the taste.

“you just got here and you’re already drinking?” a hand suddenly grabbed onto my shoulder.

i yelp out and prepare to sock the guy in the face but once i fully turn around i smile brightly.

“rick!” i engulf him in a right hug, glad to see a familiar face.

“how you’ve been?”

“i’ve been great! work has been great! what about you?” i take a sip of my drink.

“fantastic! i’ve been working with multiple bands, makin music and shit. you should meet them!” he grabs my hand and lead me towards his friends.

i shoved and pushed through everyone until we stopped in front of a group of three guys.

“hey guys, i want you to meet a good friend of mine. y/n these are the beastie boys, beastie boys this is y/n.”

i looked at all of them and smile.

“hey, i’m adam.” the tall one said, sticking out his hand to which i shook.

“i’m mike.” the one wearing a hat waved.

“and i’m adam.” the last guy smiled at me.

“adam? so you’re saying you have two adam’s in your band?” i ask.

“oh yeah, i go by mca but you can call me adam.”

“i go by ad-rock but call me ad.”

his smile makes me genuinely fuzzy inside, a smile of my own creeping onto my face.

“okay, ad.”

he blushes and looks down at his feet as mike starts up a conversation.

“so, how do you know rick?”

“i went to college with him.”

“oh are you a producer too?” adam asks.

“kinda? i’m bouncing around right now but i hope i’ll land a job soon.” i sip on my now empty cup.

“oh uh, i’ll be right back i need to fill up my cup.” i excuse myself from the group.

i once again shove my way through people and back into the kitchen, pouring myself something a bit strong.

“hey!” a hand suddenly touches my shoulder.

i quickly turn around and get ready to fight the person but relaxed when i saw ad.

“woah, i’m sorry i scared you i didn’t mean to.” he was sincere.

“it’s okay, i’m just always jumpy.” i laugh.

“so you uh-you met rick in college? was he a party animal?”

“a bit, more than me.” i chuckle.

“is it bad to say i could tell? you seem the type to be at home rather than a party.”

“not at all, you’ll be telling the truth.” i bit my lip and chuckle.

“you’re cute when you chuckle.” he boldly says.

i watch as his face burns a bright red and he looks down.

“i’m sorry that just came out my mouth.”

“no no, don’t worry about it. you’re adorable when you blush.”

he looks up at me and smiles, a gleam now in his eyes.

“i know it’s a bit weird since you just met me but..do you wanna get out of here? maybe grab a bite to eat?” he shrugs.

even though i barely met him, i feel safe around him.

“yeah i’m down.” i nod.

“really?! that’s great! i’ll go and tell rick and the guys we’re gonna head out.” he smiles brightly before shoving people out his way to go back towards the guys.

i smile as i watched him go, my heart swelling.

“y/n, right?” i hear a voice from behind me say.

i turn around and come face to face with a familiar face. it was the lead vocalist from a band rick produced an album for.

“oh hey! you’re from that one band! the uh- fuck i can’t remember…” i laugh at my stupidity.

“don’t stress over it. the red hot chili peppers. you know rick has told us about you, how much a great producer you are.”

“oh really? i-i wouldn’t say a great producer..” i shook my head.

“he’s showed us some albums you’ve produced, they’re really good.”

“oh please, no offense to the bands but they’re nothing big.”

“no band isn’t nothing big. i’ve been wanting to talk with you actually. the band and i have been wanting you to produce our next album.” he sips his drink.

“wait, really?!”

“yup. we like you, y/n.”

“that’s…that’s great!” i smile but i hesitated at the end of my sentence.

“but?”

“but i’m not too sure..i’m so used to working with small bands and i mean you guys are the chili peppers, a huge band.”

“you have to get out your comfort zone eventually. just think about it and call me when you’re ready.”

“i don’t have your number?”

he muttered something before searching through the drawers of the kitchen. he finds a pen and paper and wrote down his number.

“take your time.” he smiles and leaves me be.

i stare down at the paper, his number and name written on it. i smile and shove it into my pocket right as adam came back.

“hey, you ready?” his smile bright.

“mhm.” he grabbed my hand and led us through the crowd.

the fresh outside hit my face and made me exhale. i’ve always loved the cold weather no matter what.

“do you uh..do you have a car? i took a ride with my buddies so…” he chuckled nervously.

“don’t worry about it. follow me.” i smile and take him towards my car.

i take out my keys and fumble to unlock the doors. we get inside and since it’s a closed area i finally got a smell of adam’s cologne. i’ve always been a sucker for the smell of cologne and his makes my cheeks turn pink.

“so ad, where to?” i ask and i turn on the car.

“please call me adam. i only said that cause of my friend.”

“so you’re the og adam?”

“far from it. yauch is one talented motherfucker.”

i watched as his face lit up when he talked about his friends.

“you really love those guys, don’t you?”

“oh man, you don’t even know.” he laughs.

“your laugh is cute.” i blurt out.

i gasp and cover my mouth, embarrassment creeping up.

“not as cute as you.” he cheesily said.

i blush hard and turn my head to look away from him.

“what about white castle?”

i look at him and smile at him.

“i love white castle.”

i pull into the parking lot, parking into a stal and making our way towards the entrance.

“my lady.” he held open the door for me.

“why thank you.” i giggle.

we enter to semi-crowded restaurant.

“welcome to white castle! how can we help you?” the cashier smiled.

adam stared at the menu before ordering. i waited for adam to pay to order.

“and for you?” the cashier asked.

i told her my order and took out my wallet but before i could hand her my money, adam shoved his in her hand.

“my treat.” he winks at me.

“you didn’t have to.”

“a gentleman always pays on the first date.”

“first date?”

his face fell a bit and a panicked look set on it.

“u-unless you don’t want it to be a date then that’s totally okay to-“

“i like that. first date.” i cut him off.

his bright smile returned to his face. the cashier set the cups down for us to grab. we head towards the soda fountain and get our drinks before sitting down at a booth.

“so what bands have you produced for?” he asks, sipping on his dr. pepper.

“some small bands from LA.”

“so you went to college with rick?”

“yup! i actually was born in new york but moved to LA once i was 22.”

“and when was that?”

“uh 85 i believe.”

“damn, i was barely even 19.” he chuckled.

“i was chasing dreams in the city of angels with barely any money.” i laugh at myself.

“what’d you do once you got to LA?”

“i got a job at a record store and lived with some randoms cause living by myself was too much.”

“when did you start producing?”

“one of my roommates was actually an musician. she asked me if i knew anyone who produced and i awkwardly offered myself. so i helped her band with their first album and boom, i kinda got out there in the LA underground scene.”

“order for adam!” i hear the worker call out.

he goes and grabs the food for us, stopping the grab some ketchup.

“that’s good, you’re getting out there. who’s your dream artist to work with?” he shoved a fry in his mouth.

“honestly…you guys. i remember rick telling me about you guys so i decided to listen and i honestly liked it. your guys’ style is something i dig.” i bashfully admit.

“i’d love to have your beautiful self working with us. rick shown us some do your work.” he finally takes a bite of his burger.

“oh god, is he showing everyone my work.” i laugh and hang my head down.

“it’s good thing though! you’re super talented and you need to get out there.” he exclaimed.

“i actually did get a job offer. right before you and i left.” i fianlly bit my burger.

“no way, by who?”

“anthony kiedis of the red hot chili peppers.” i say nonchalantly.

“you’re lying!”

“nope, why?”

“it’s the chili peppers! they’re so popular right now cause of their album, blood sugar sex magic. you going and producing for them will make you big! what’d you say?”

“i told him i’ll think about it.” i say quietly.

“and what do you think?”

“i’m nervous, honestly. i know how big they are and following up after that album, especially if rick produced it. i know rick and i know how his mind kinda works, he’s super talented and i don’t know if i can compete.”

“hey, don’t be so down on yourself like that. i’m saying this because i genuinely mean it but you are so fucking talented. rick is talented but in his own way, just like you are in your own.” his words meant a lot.

i thought about them and came to terms that he’s right. i just think little of myself because i’m nervous of being told i’m actually bad. the chili peppers wouldn’t have wanted me if they didn’t think i was good.

“you’re right, i think i’ll call him later and say yes.” i smile.

“do it now!”

“i think he’s still at the party.” i shook my head.

“then let’s head back! we’ll leave again after if you want but this is your chance! you’re hype enough right now to tell him.” he pushes.

i love the way he thinks and how encouraging he is.

“you know what, fuck it.” i start getting out my seat and was quickly to follow suit.

we shove our food back in the bags and race back to my car. adam ransacked through my glovebox and grabbed a cassette tape. i didn’t see which tape it was until the first few seconds started playing. ‘rhymin & stealin’ began blasting throughout my speakers.

“seriously?!” i shout over the music.

“saw it and had to!” he laughed before rapping along.

i smile and join him too, tapping the steering wheel along to the beat. we made it back to the house when slow ride was playing. we hop out the car and saw there was a less bit of people here but still the party was jamming.

“let’s just hope he’s here!” i say before rushing inside the house.

adam and i split up to scout out anthony, or even flea or chad hoping they’d know where he was. i was about to give up and try to meet back up with adam when i saw anthony talking with some random girl.

“anthony!” i scream out.

he surprisingly heard me and whipped his head around to me. i shoved past people and walked up to him out of breath.

“hey!”

“y/n, what are you doing? are you okay?” he took note of my sweaty appearance.

“yes i’ll do it.”

“what?”

“i’ll produce your guys’ next album.”

“seriously?!” his face lit up.

“seriously! i thought about it and i’m excited for it.”

“that’s awesome! i’ll talk with the guys about it tomorrow, chad is most definitely shit faced somewhere.” i chuckled at his words.

“thank you so much for this opportunity.” i shook his hand before running away through the crowd.

i walked back out into the outside, smiling brightly at what i’d just done.

“hey y/n! did you find him? i can’t.” adam jogged up to me, slightly out of breath.

“i did.”

“and?”

“i said yes and he was excited!”

“i knew it!” he hugged me tightly.

i instantly hugged back and he lifted me off the ground to spin us around. we laughed and threw our heads back. he stopped and set me down, smiling as he stared into my eyes. suddenly i felt his lips on mine, causing me to freeze. my brain malfunctioned for a bit before i finally started kissing back. i rested my hand on his cheek and pushed him closer to me. i felt him smile into the kiss and rest his hands on my hips. he pulled our bodies together as we continued kissing. i finally pulled away to catch my breath, the cold air making it visible.

“sorry i just…got caught up in the moment.” he spoke softly.

“don’t worry about it.” i grin before pressing my lips onto his again.

it was a quick kiss but one full of sparks. my body was buzzing with adrenaline as i rested my forehead against his.

“yo ad-rock!” we hear his friend shout out.

we lifted our heads to look at him, a drunk mike leaning onto him.

“wassup?!”

“mikey wants to go hit some bars, wanna come?”

he looks back at me to study my face, i just give him a quick smile. i was okay with him leaving, i mean i just met him tonight.

“i think i’m okay! i’ll stay here with y/n.” he shouts back.

i was surprised, why would he not go?

“suit yourself man!” yauch nodded.

“have fun with your lady frienddd. wear a condom!!” mike drunkly shouted.

i chuckled at him while adam embarrassingly blushed.

“i-ignore him.” he shook his head.

“you can go if you want, you definitely don’t need to stay.”

“i definitely do. i know we just met but i like you. from what i know of you so far, you’re smart, talented, and so beautiful.” he tucked a piece of my hair away.

“i like you too, adam..” i blush.

“then let’s continue our date, shall we?” he stuck his hand out.

“we shall.” i chuckle and grab it.

he led us back to my car and back to our date.
