Thanks to the efforts of its local chief executive Mayor Lyn Tria. She has been persistent in asking the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – MIMAROPA Regional Office to grant her municipality with free tilapia and bangus fingerlings which she distribute among fishermen.

We will all soon pick up age.

Growing old will perpetually be one of those things that we may worry about, much more if we almost have no one to lean on. The cycle of life will certainly bring us to the point where our sons and daughter will have a family of their own. And we will be left behind fending off by ourselves with our shaking hands, cloudy eyes and down encumbering back pains. Although that is not always the case, but having such thought is already frightening. We then hope for someone to watch our back.

Year after year, a number of people join the ranks of senior citizens in the country. No matter how big or small, these are people who have toiled hard their whole life in the past and have made contributions in their own way to the country’s economy. Now that they are at the prime of their lives, the national government sees it fit to provide support and assistance to their need even at the simplest way possible. And granting Social Citizen Social Pension is just one of them.

Social Pension is a financial assistance amounting to P500.00 monthly, -or P6,000.00 yearly – given to “indigent” senior citizens or those who are already 60-years old and above. It is being distributed pursuant to Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.

As mentioned earlier, it is a national government project. However, it’s effective implementation should be realized at the local government units level where the funds are channeled for distribution. It is at this tenet that we acknowledge Mayor Lyn Tria of the Municipality of Mamburao for her efforts in making sure that her senior constituents feel and experience the social pension benefit as mandated by RA 9994.

With the help of her administration’s Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Mayor Tria again went out of her comfort zone to be with the aging members of the community to personally oversee the distribution of social pension.

Some may call it as a political stunt. But if we to look deeper to her intentions, it’s more on making sure that her people get their share of what the government is giving out, specially to senior citizens.

Again, we saw how grateful Mayor Tria is to lend a helping hand. Even if said function is just ministerial at the part of MSWDO, she puts herself in the middle that allows to be in the shoes of the expecting people and fulfill her promise of still keeping her feet on the ground. Her acts again displayed the genuineness of her intention to serve the people.

Senior citizens remain part of Mayor Tria’s agenda.

Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro – Opisyal nang nanumpa bilang Association of Barangay Chairmen (ABC) President si Kap. Mel Ramirez ng Poblacion 3 matapos ang halalan na ginanap sa Mamburao Conference Hall, July 16.

Sa kabuuang 15 barangay, 13 ang lumahok sa halalan na ipinatawag at inorganisa ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Mamburao.

Pinalitan ni Kap. Mel Ramirez si Kap. Manny Alastre ng Brgy. Tayamaan bilang ABC President, na nahalal naman bilang Vice President. Pinagbotohan din si Kap. Cesar Flores III ng Poblacion 4 bilang Auditor ng samahan.

Ang iba naman na nahalal bilang miyembre ng Board of Directors ay sina Kap. Gerry Bautista (Poblacion 5), Kap. Susan Bondad (Poblacion 6), Kap. Rondel Pedraza (Balansay), Kap. Romeo Medallo (Fatima), Kap. Jojie Rabina (Poblacion 8), Kap. Tomas Rendon, Jr. (Pobacion 1), Kap. Benchito Umali (Tangkalan), at Kap. Lorena Umali (Payompon).

Ang lahat ay nagkaisa na si Kap. Mel Ramirez ang ihalal bilang President. Bagama’t bago pa lamang sa pulitika, naniniwala ang lahat sa kakayanan ni Kap. Mel dahil na rin sa husay nito sa pagpapalakad ng kanyang mga negosyo.

Pinangunahan naman ni Mamburao Mayor Lyn Tria ang panunumpa ng mga nanalo.

Sa kanyang maikling talumpati, nagpasalamat si Kap. Mel sa suportang ibinigay sa kanya ng mga Kapitan. Humiling din siya na sana ay tulungan din siya na magampanan ang kanyang tungkulin bilang ABC President dahil lahat umano ay bahagi ng Association.

August 5, 2019. Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro | In the wake of heavy monsoon rain which started Friday night, a total of 146 families were evacuated to Capitol Compound Evacuation Center, August 3.

According to Mamburao MSWD, as of 4:35pm. a total of 144 families from Sitio Aroma, Brgy. Tayamaan were brought to Capitol Evacuation Center last August 3 as per preemptive disaster evacuation conducted by MDRRMO, BFP and other agencies. Two more families were evacuated at Balansay Elementary School.

Mamburao municipal social welfare personnel stayed with the evacuees since Saturday afternoon.

They represent a total number of 599 individuals -234 (boys) children, 154 (girls) children, 13 senior citizens, 4 PWDs, 3 pregnant women, and 44 4Ps.

All of the families are located at danger zone in Sitio Aroma, the same area that was heavily hit last year by typhoon Josie.

Mayor Lyn Tria has been monitoring the situation and gave early instruction to  rescue personnel to be on alert as early as Saturday morning. She told them to evacuate the families once the rains gets heavy.

By Saturday evening, volunteers like Triskelion De Mamburao and Kap. Mel Ramirez of Brgy. 3 have distributed foods to the victims.

Mamburao Municipal Coun. Marites Pantoja (in white shirt) would constantly visit the evacuees since she also reside at Sitio Aroma.

Mamburao and Provincial Government’s social welfare personnel stayed with the evacuees at the Evacuation Center to give assistance since Saturday afternoon by the time they evacuated.

Municipal Coun. Marites Pantoja Evangelista would constantly visit as well since she also reside in Sitio Aroma. Brgy. Chairman Manny Alastre and some members of Sangguniang Barangay of Brgy. Tayamaan also stayed with the evacuees.

As of this writing, it is not yet clear when they will be allowed to return home.
