On this day, 2nd July in 1997, Barry Sonnenfeld’s sci-fi comedy Men in Black was released, scored by Danny Elfman.
M.I.B. was a huge success, both critically and commercially, as was the memorable soundtrack, featuring Will Smith’s own ‘Men in Black’ single. Danny was nominated for an academy award for Best Original Score - one of two nominations that year.
The attention was unexpected, as Elfman tried to explain in an interview for Film Score Daily [March, 1998] - “It’s making me bewildered… It’s a situation where I’m so accustomed to being excluded from that club that that’s become my happy, accepted norm. It’s like someone trying to get into a private club for many years, and at some point being very content being that kind of outsider. So now it’s challenging my reality. I’m neither upset nor ecstatic; I’m bewildered.”

"Don't touch me."
He hated Earth scientists. So much to appreciate about Earth, yet whenever he visits it stuff like the C.I.A or M.I.B blows a fuse. But this was just gettin' too close comfort. That single sentence was the first thing he said tothis individual, and normally, he'd be the one to weird someone out, but at this rate the tables have turned.
"I can assure you I am nothing interesting and all I do is sit in a basement and play video games. And sabatoge alien tyrannies, negotiate with a robot military, dive into the afterlife and some other considerable things."
"Yeah, no, nothin' interestin' here, lady."

SPICA Disbands After Five Years
SPICA Disbands After Five Years
K-pop girl group SPICA is calling it a day.
After five years together and numerous struggles to gain recognition from the wider K-pop community, SPICA’s agency CJ E&M announced Feb. 6 that the group will disband. Despite immense talent and one of the best K-pop songs of 2012, the group never gained a foothold in South Korea and SPICA’s members reportedly opted to end their contracts with the company prematurely.
Though touted as a disbandment, SPICA’s post-break up plans have yet to be decided; CJ E&M said it was not “clear yet” whether the five will part ways or move onto another agency together. In the meantime, the company is figuring out how to finalize things as the contract comes to an end.
The quintet’s last single, the soulful dance pop track “Secret Time,” was released in August, nearly two years after their previous song, “Ghost. Earlier tunes, like the sonorous R&B “Painkiller,” the retro-tinged “You Don’t Love Me,” and the tempestuous dancepop “Russian Roulette,” also displayed the group’s sultry voices through a variety of sounds built to show off their powerhouse vocals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep5X71Lqg1M
But while failing to gain recognition in South Korea, SPICA braved an attempt to break into the American music industry in 2014 with the English-language single “I Did It.” The brassy funk track, which premiered on Billboard, garnered SPICA an appearance on the morning show of the local FOX affiliate in Los Angeles, and also brought the group to their first and only KCON performance.
SPICA’s flair for intricately produced songs combined with the quintet’s overwhelming vocals, plus their 2012 debut under the auspices of Korean diva Lee Hyori, set the group up for success. But the fivesome was never able to reach the industry’s top tiers. Though talent was never a question, the overcrowded K-pop playing field has had many victims over the years and SPICA is its latest casualty.
2017 in general doesn’t bode well for older K-pop acts, as newer acts move in to take their places. With more than 100 new K-pop acts debuting each year, several veteran bands have fallen by the wayside, including popular girl groups Wonder Girls and I.O.I and the hip-hop boy band M.I.B.

Kara
#gallery-0-53 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-53 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-53 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-53 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Debut: Break It (2007)
Último comeback: Cupid (2015)
LC9
#gallery-0-54 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-54 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-54 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-54 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Debut: Mama Beat (2013)
“The Ugly Man Cries”, não foi um comeback, apenas um OST para o drama ‘Can We Love’
LedApple (LedT)
#gallery-0-55 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-55 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-55 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-55 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Debut: Dash (2010)
Último comeback: Who Are You (2014)
SPEED
#gallery-0-56 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-56 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-56 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-56 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Debut: Lovey Dovey Plus (2012)
Último comeback: What U (2015)
MIXX
#gallery-0-57 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-57 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-57 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-57 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Debut: Oh Ma Mind(2016)
Último comeback: Love is a Sudden(2017)
Wonder Girls
#gallery-0-58 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-58 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-58 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-58 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Elas apresentaram uma versão cover de “Don’t Cha” do grupo feminino Pussycat Dolls, assim como suas próprias músicas, incluindo “Irony” e “미안한 마음” (“It’s Not Love”).
Music Core’ com “Irony”, o single no estilo hip-hop do seu álbum, ‘The Wonder Year’s.
Debut: Irony(2007)
Último comeback: Draw Me(2017)

Debut: Be With You (2012)
Último comeback: Wedding March
2NE1
#gallery-0-63 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-63 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-63 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-63 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Debut: Fire (2009)
Último comeback: Come Back Home (2014)
4MINUTE
#gallery-0-64 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-64 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-64 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-64 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Sentiremos saudade!
Debut: Hot Issue (2009)
Último comeback: Hate (2016)
Rainbow
#gallery-0-65 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-65 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-65 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-65 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
