Is it just a coincidence that Carter’s friend has already been in Hollyoaks as Lynsey Nolan’s brother who slept with Brendan and warned Ste off of him? 👀

Has anyone else noticed this. Its Lynsey Nolans brother who is going to be talking to Lucas about his "sinful ways" my question is this a new character or is it Eoghan with a changed name.

Maybe Brendan's rejection sent him on a spiral and now he's suppressing his urges. It's interest at the beginning of the storyline John Paul mentioned Brendan to Ste about being with someone that was ashamed/not out. Or am I giving Hollyoaks too much credit.

Main Storylines:

Silas:

The residents of Hollyoaks were gripped by fear when it appeared that there was a killer amongst them in 2011. After killing India Longford in December 2010, Silas made plans for Lynsey Nolan to become his next victim. Fortunately, Lynsey was saved from harm when Riley Costello, Silas’ grandson, heard her screams and Silas made his escape. However, Lynsey knew that Silas was her attacker, sparking off a game of cat and mouse between the pair...

After killing Bex and Rae, Silas’ sick game with Lynsey stepped up a gear, and he told her that he planned to take another life on Halloween, but Lynsey could save the woman if she could work out her identity. Lynsey’s obsession with Silas cost her her job, home and friends but she refused to give up. Meanwhile, having discovered that Mercedes had been cheating on Riley, Silas kidnapped her and planned to kill her once she’d given birth. As Halloween approached, Silas’ downfall began when he accidentally killed his own daughter, Heidi, mistaking her for Lynsey. The police finally began to take Lynsey’s claims seriously and Silas was arrested, whilst Mercedes was saved just in the nick of time. 

Jacqui’s Rape:

Hollyoaks explored the issue of consent in early 2011, when Jacqui McQueen accused Gilly Roach of raping her. Having slept with Jacqui, the girlfriend of his best pal, Rhys, Gilly insisted that their drunken night together was consensual. But with Jacqui insisting that she had not consented, Gilly was arrested and the case went to trial. In a unique move, Hollyoaks invited a selection of viewers to act as members of the jury for the case. After both parties gave their accounts of events, the jury decided that there was insufficient evidence to charge Gilly, and he was found not guilty. However, some months later, Gilly admitted to not seeking consent from Jacqui.

Esther’s Arrival:

Tom found himself in a whole heap of bother in January when he attacked an intruder at the Osborne’s house. The intruder, a young woman, introduced herself to Frankie as her Granddaughter, Esther, and she was quickly invited into the family. However, Tom’s actions came back to haunt him when he was sent to a youth court for the attack. 

Mercedes’ Affair:

After Seth discovered her affair with Carl, Mercedes took drastic action to stop him telling Riley, and lied that she was pregnant! Riley was overjoyed by the news but Mercedes was faced with a big dilemma. How would she break the news that she wasn’t really pregnant? Myra soon came up with the perfect solution to her daughter’s predicament when Mercedes took a tumble at The Loft some weeks later.  Riley insisted on rushing her to hospital, where Mercedes was given the shock of her life - she really was pregnant after all! 

Over the months that followed, Mercedes and Riley planned their wedding, all the while, Mercedes kept the truth about her affair secret. However, Mercedes was hit by an uncharacteristic pang of guilt as she walked down the aisle, and she told Riley and the shocked congregation everything! Riley was devastated as Mercedes revealed that she couldn’t be sure who her baby’s Father was, and Mercedes’ actions incurred the wrath of Silas, who promptly kidnapped her, and locked her up in a vault under The Dog, planning to kill her once she’d given birth. Mercedes was eventually rescued when the truth about Silas’ murders came to light and Mercedes later gave birth to baby Bobby. 

Bart/Jason/Sinead:

Teenagers, Bart and Sinead’s, relationship didn’t go down too well with their families, so the pair fled the village! However, the pair quickly discovered that being Chester’s answer to Romeo and Juliet wasn’t all it was cracked up to be when they ran out of cash. Luckily, Jason was on hand to help and arrived with some money, much to the annoyance of Sinead. Infuriated by Jason’s presence, Sinead stormed off, leaving Bart and Jason to fend for themselves. However, Bart and Jason soon found themselves confronted with a shotgun when they broke into a house to look for food, and the pair were soon locked up in the owner’s cellar. With nothing else to do, the pair had a heart-to-heart, which quickly lead to a kiss. But, a heartbroken Sinead was just outside. And had heard everything...

Britzeee:

Wannabe wag, Mitzeee, was stunned when she caught Brendan and Ste kissing and soon decided to turn the situation to her advantage, telling Brendan that she would keep his secret if he became her manager! And so, Britzeee was born! 

Separately, 2011 was an eventful year for both Brendan and Mitzeee. Over the Summer Brendan would be joined in the village by his teenage son, Declan, and he would soon be left with plenty of explaining to do when Declan walked in on him beating Ste! Brendan found himself spending much of the latter part of the year in prison when Silas framed him for Rae’s murder, whilst Mitzeee feared for her life when she discovered that Warren had murdered his ex, Louise Summers.

Hollyoaks Later

Our annual late-night dose of Hollyoaks returned in September. Stories this time centred on the McQueen’s trip to Ibiza for Mercedes hen do, Silas’ hunt for another victim, culminating in the murder of Rae and Riley’s stag do, which saw Seth believe he had killed a stripper. Lives were in peril in a white water rafting accident whilst there were japes aplenty as Duncan and Ricky headed to fat camp! 

Other stories:

Cindy returned to the village in March, minus her new husband, Alistair, and daughter Holly. She soon revealed that Alistair had died after falling off an Alp, leaving her a millionaire! She used the money to enrol Holly in boarding school and open up her own spa, ‘Cinergy’.

Ste was heartbroken to learn that Lee and Amy were moving to New York, taking Leah and Lucas with them. However, at the eleventh hour, Amy decided to stay, and Lee left the village alone.

Theresa’s life was left hanging in the balance after she fell down a lift shaft.

There were big changes at Hollyoaks High when it was turned into a 6th form college, and we were introduced to new students, Maddie, Tilly, Jono, Neil, Callum and George. 

HCC also gained some new students as Annalise, Ash, Barney, Scott and Rob joined as freshers.

Suzanne Ashworth returned to the village, pregnant with Darren’s twins! She gave birth to Francine and Jack in the 3000th episode. Meanwhile, Darren got together with Nancy.

At Christmas, Doug contemplated suicide. However, he was visited by the spirit of Steph Dean, who convinced him that his life was sill worth living. 

Liberty was joined in the village by her Father, Dirk and her Brothers, Dodger and Will.

Controversial anon here thanks for answering my ask. I'm hoping in the end the baby won't be Harry but I think the show see this as good development for Harry. I really hope you are right about Harry's mum time for him to be more than one half of a ship. On a more positive note Greg won 🎉 do you think his win will make producers see how popular he is and give him more focus? What sls would you like James to have?

to your last question: I’m good with anything for James. But James is a criminal defence lawyer so maybe something dark, like a criminal he once put behind bars being released and deciding to harm everyone responsible for it. Something thriller like with stalking involved. (I initially wanted this for Harry with a former client of his - like an obsession you know, but I’m cool with this idea going to James.) I would also love to see a repeat of Silas vs Lynsey Nolan, but then have James be lynsey. That storyline is probably the best thriller like storyline Hollyoaks ever told, James needs a good enemy to play some sort of chess game with and I want Hollyoaks to give it to him.

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (26): Thu 7th Apr 2022

Today was dull as shit, I was stuck in the house and felt really tired due to fucking covid. I wanted to do something at least slightly productive so I made a list of what I consider to be the best storylines Hollyoaks have ever done. I've been watching the show since 2005 and though it's quite boring most of the time (especially now), throughout it's history it has done some amazing storylines and here are some of the best ones: Without a doubt the best storyline the show has ever done is Lynsey vs Silas and it's not even close. Silas arrived in the village and started murdering promiscuous women. Nurse Lynsey Nolan realized he was the killer but knowing that she had no proof rather than kill her Silas decided to carry on his spree taunting Lynsey and playing the vulnerable old man whenever she would accuse him of being the killer. This was incredible. The goal of any soap is to try and get the viewers to empathize with a character and not only did I empathize with Lynsey and cheer her on to get the rest of the village to realize Silas was the killer I used to rush home from work to watch the next episode. Man it was so good. What I wouldn't give for the show to be this good again The 2nd best story they've done is the Craig & John Paul love story. I remember watching the episode where they met & for months they slowly developed their friendship and at one point they both had girlfriends but every now and again they would drop hints that something wasn't right with John Paul and Hannah's relationship. Then they would start dropping little hints that JP was attracted to Craig. The episode where JP confessed that he loved Craig is still one of the most beautiful moments in the show ever. Becca & Justin’s affair. This spanned multiple years & included subplots involving knife crime, pregnancy & betrayal. It also had an almost Shakespearean level tragic ending with Becca’s death in prison & Justin being partially responsible. This storyline won a Soap Award but it boggles my mind how neither of the actors, any of the writers and the show itself weren’t nominated for a BAFTA on the strength of this plot. It was so damn good Hannah’s Anorexia. At the time I was young & naive & didn’t know the real effects of anorexia. In fact I remember it being a topic of humour (Epic Movie making a Nicole Richie stick figure joke). This story changed all that though. Hannah was so hurt at her boyfriend announcing he was gay that she convinced herself that she was the one who turned him gay due to not putting more effort into her looks. She then met an anorexic who showed her how to lose weight quickly and what followed was Hannah and her friend starting to eat less and less until the latter died of starvation. Sienna vs Nancy. The 2nd best “Vs” story after Lindsey vs Silas. A year of Sienna using mind games to make Nancy think she was going crazy to steal Darren. Every time we thought Nancy had finally bested Sienna she pulled out another scheme that made Nancy look like the crazy one. We also got to see both ladies dressed as Lara Croft which I think should have gotten the show nominated for a BAFTA right then and there

Finn Rapes John Paul. Rape storylines happen all the time in soaps but Hollyoaks occasionally puts an interesting spin on things and this time they took the unusual route of having a minor rape an adult. Very creepy but still compelling TV. And the less said about their ridiculous attempt to do a redemption storyline for Finn a few years ago the better. Trying to get us to feel sorry for a rapist, what the hell were they thinking? Fire At The Dog.The first major stunt I saw in the show. Any time you do a big stunt based storyline you create numerous stories off the back of it and this led to Justin’s downward spiral, OB vs Clare, Calvin forgiving Jake among others Patrick & Maxine domestic abuse. The first story that genuinely made me want to reach into the TV and try to help a character. Seeing a character as happy as Maxine reduced to a shell of her former self was heartbreaking. I also hope that it encouraged a lot of victims to speak out and seek help Myra's long- lost song Zippy McQueen returns. The son Myra abandoned on a church step (Who was inexplicably black and ginger despite not having black or ginger parents) returns and plots to bring down the McQueen family from within.

Well boy do I feel like a jackass guys. I think I might have gotten this storyline mixed up with one from the sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme.

Life Goes On: The New Normal For Ukrainians Still Living In A Warzone

Ukrainians have been subjected to an intense attack from Russia for the last week, pushing an estimated one million people to flee – but what’s life like for the millions who stayed behind?

While Russian president Vladimir Putin allegedly want to “seize the whole of Ukraine”, only the city of Kherson is actually under the control of Russian troops a week after the military invaded.

Several other cities are under intense artillery attacks and persistent shelling – a move described as a potential war crime by Boris Johnson from the Kremlin – but have so far evaded capture by the Russians.

Citizens are still having to shelter in underground stations to stay safe and Ukraine has reported more than 2,000 civilian deaths so far.

Russia has admitted 498 of its troops have died, although the Ministry of Defence thinks the real number is much higher.

And yet, millions of Ukrainians are determined to stay on and defend their country under their wartime leader and president Volodymyr Zelenksyy.

So here’s what life looks for those people who are persevering through the unimaginable conditions, as their lives have been turned upside down over the last seven days.

Miraculously, utility workers have made sure internet, light, heating and hot water facilities can still operate  – but only in some cities. 

While I am waiting for our website to recover from a cyberattack, want to praise Ukraine's utility workers and internet providers. We still have internet, light, heating and hot water. The garbage truck, taking out the trash this morning, scared the hell out of us.

Food appears to still be in healthy supply in various areas of the country, despite concerns of an emerging humanitarian crisis among Western governments.

Good news from the streets of Kyiv, many of the shops have fresh fruit and veg on the shelves, there has been a restock! After a few tough days, there are currently no long queues for food here in the city centre.

For those trapped without food, other Ukrainians are trying to gather supplies to help the less fortunate survive.

In the city of Mariupol, the Russian forces have reportedly cut off its water, heating, power and supply lines. The city council has compared it to the “old Leningrad”, in reference to Nazi Germany’s siege of a then-Soviet city in 1941, which left 1.5 million dead.

 A Ukrainian soldier even reportedly texted the Telegraph pleading: “If anything happens don’t let us be forgotten.”

Ukraine’s strength against the Russian forces has stunned the international community too, as the ordinary people stand up against Putin’s army in both large and small ways.

Civilians are training to fight, learning how to make molotov cocktails (homemade explosives) and, in some cases, stealing Russian equipment.

7 things you never knew about Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star Rob Norbury

Fun facts about the man behind Leon.

Former Hollyoaks star Rob Norbury has switched soaps this week with a guest role on Emmerdale.

Rob is playing new arrival Leon, a drayman with a bad reputation who briefly dates Victoria Barton in this week's episodes.

While Hollyoaks fans will need no introduction to Rob after his two-year stint on the show from 2010 to 2012, we're rounding up seven fun facts about the star for those not so familiar with his work.

1. He played a different character in Hollyoaks before he was a regular

Rob's biggest role in Soapland so far has been footballer Riley Costello, who moved to the Hollyoaks village with his family in 2010 and had a memorable relationship with maneater Mercedes McQueen. Believe it or not, though, this wasn't the first time that Rob had appeared in the Channel 4 soap.

Back in 2006, Rob portrayed a completely different character called Lennox in spinoff show Hollyoaks: In The City. With a four-year gap before he reappeared as Riley, only Hollyoaks' most ardent fans will have noticed the show's producers sneakily recycling an actor.

2. He was involved in one of Hollyoaks' highest-rated storylines

Although Rob was only part of the Hollyoaks cast for two years, at least he can boast that he was involved in one of the show's highest-rated plots. Hollyoaks went through a ratings slump in 2010 and early 2011, but it came back fighting with the Silas Blissett serial killer storyline.

Rob's character Riley spent the best part of the year oblivious to the fact that his "warm and cuddly" granddad was actually a sinister strangler. When the truth came out, Hollyoaks' first look screening on E4 hit an impressive high of 1.4m as viewers flocked to see Riley confront his dangerous relative.

3. He dated a co-star

Dating a co-star is a rite of passage when you join Hollyoaks and Rob was no exception during his time with the Channel 4 show.

Rob entered into a relationship with Karen Hassan, who played popular Irish nurse Lynsey Nolan. It was a case of art imitating life, as their characters were also briefly an item on screen too.

4. He's a restaurateur

Acting can be a tough business, so perhaps it's no surprise that Rob had broadened his horizons since his regular gig on Hollyoaks came to an end. In 2014, he took ownership of a cocktail bar called Muse in Uppermill, Oldham. He's since expanded the business into a restaurant, as well as taking over a pub at another location in Grasscroft.

Speaking to Lancashire Life in 2017, Rob explained: "I'm not giving acting up for good. If the right role came along, I'd love to do it again. I'm still dipping my toe in every now and then. But I'm also very happy doing what I'm doing."

5. He was happy to be killed off

Many soap stars can't resist a moan if their character gets killed off, but Rob was happy to get a memorable exit storyline after his Hollyoaks character Riley came to an unfortunate end in 2012.

When Brendan Brady's biggest enemy Simon Walker went on the rampage in the village with a gun, Riley got caught in the crossfire and was shot dead.

Rob explained: "We decided in early summer that I was going, and then we ended up having a chat in July or August time when they said they'd had an idea of Riley being killed.

"I said, 'Yeah, why not?' It's better than a lot of other exits that you can get, and I wanted to make sure that I got a proper send-off, so it was really good."

6. He wrote his own comedy-drama

Proving he's multi-talented, Rob also tried his hand at writing following his exit from Hollyoaks, penning the pilot for a gym-based comedy pilot called Training Daze.

Rob gathered together a number of familiar soap faces to be part of the pilot, including Emmerdale stars Gemma Atkinson, Adele Silva and Verity Rushworth.

7. He had his eye on Emmerdale six years ago

We're not too surprised to see Rob pop up in Emmerdale (albeit only for a guest stint) as he actually name-checked the show when Digital Spy quizzed him about his future plans six years ago.

When we asked whether he'd like to do another soap, Rob replied: "Of course I would, it's been fantastic being on a soap as you get to ply your trade every day of the week. A lot of people don't get that opportunity, so I'd never rule out being on another soap.

"I think I'd probably be better suited to Corrie or Emmerdale than EastEnders, but if they're ever in need of anyone Northern down there, I can pop my head down!"

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays

In all honesty, none of them are really as great to me as the ones from the past, but out of the current girls Sienna is definitely the best one. She’s very complex and interesting to watch. She’s been through a lot and I do think her storyline with Laurie could be good. She’s trying really hard to lead a normal life at the moment but I have a feeling that simply won’t last and I personally cannot wait for that moment.

So many fantastic girls have graces the screen it’s hard to pick. Theresa and Jacqui McQueen, Lynsey Nolan and Amy Barnes are also characters I love so much. But I will have to go with Mitzeee, Rachel was a fantastic actress and Mitzeee was an absolute Queen in her 2.5 years on the show. I loved everything about her, from the way she dealt with Brendan and Warren, to her feud with Mercedes over Riley. She was the absolute best!
