Sportsfest '23 at Lyceum of Subic Bay!
As a spectator at the Sportsfest 2023 of Lyceum of Subic Bay, I had the pleasure of watching some of the best basketball and volleyball players from various departments compete against each other. While I was there to support all the players, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride as I cheered on the players from my course department, Customs Administration.
The atmosphere was electric as the teams took to the court, and the excitement was palpable in the air. I was particularly thrilled to watch the volleyball and basketball games, as these were the sports that I enjoyed the most. The players displayed remarkable skill and athleticism, and it was clear that they had put in a lot of practice and hard work leading up to the Sportsfest.
The Customs Administration teams did not disappoint. The volleyball team played with impressive teamwork and coordination, executing each play with precision and skill. The basketball team, on the other hand, was explosive and fast-paced, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats with every pass, steal, and dunk.
As a member of the Customs Administration department, it was an incredible feeling to see my fellow students compete at such a high level. I felt a strong sense of camaraderie with my peers and was proud to be part of the Customs Administration family. It was evident that the players had put in a lot of effort to prepare for the Sportsfest, and their hard work paid off as they put up a great performance.
The Sportsfest was not only about the competition but also about fostering a sense of community and sportsmanship. I was impressed by the way the players conducted themselves on and off the court, displaying good sportsmanship, and encouraging each other regardless of the outcome. It was evident that everyone was there to have fun and enjoy the experience.
The Sportsfest 2023 was an incredible event that showcased the best of Lyceum of Subic Bay's athletic talent. I was as I watched thrilled to watch the Customs Administration teams compete and represent our department with pride. The Sportsfest was a great opportunity for students to come together and celebrate their shared passion for sports and physical activity, and I am already looking forward to next year's event.

During my toddler years, i was really naughty who loved to dance and sing. Despite my naughtiness, my mother and brother did not find it annoying, instead they vibed and had fun with me.
While getting older, of course we have to go to school and do what we must do at school. Personally, achieving a medal is not my goal, but because of trying my best i still manage to get some medal. Because i don’t want to disappoint my parents and i want to put a smile on their faces.
Also, we really love to travel. Going in different countries during vacation and i realize not all the time you can experience this kind of experiences. Because nothing is permanent, we just have to enjoy and cherish every moment.
Now i am 19 years old and i forgot to introduce myself, my name is Brent Keefe C. Bello. My middle name is Chi because i’m half chinese. My school is at Lyceum of Subic Bay. I believe nothing is impossible just work for it then you can have it and just have some faith in yourself, that’s all thank you for your time reading this blog post.

GOOD TIME BECOME GOOD MEMORIES AND BAD TIMES BECOME GOOD LESSONS.
GO BLACK STALLION!!
Intramurals or Sport Festival is one of the most significant events in every school/University. Through this occasion, every student is given an opportunity to showcase their talents in various sport events in either ball games, board games and athletics. Literary and musical contest is likewise included and adds color to this occasion wherein other students who are not inclined in sports but with talent in singing dancing and recitals. Intramurals aims to promote friendly competition and fun among the students. This is a great opportunity for us to try new sport we've always wanted to learn. Last March 20,2023 our school Lyceum of Subic Bay celebrated the Sport Festival and it was a 5 days celebration. It was one of the most remarkable events that matters the most. The enjoyment and happiness we felt, cannot be exchanged nor forgotten by any changes we may experience throughout the day. It was so great that’ll made you forgot your different problems and stressful moments in life. I didn’t participate in every game, but I was there supporting my classmates and teammates and it was so tiring yet so memorable. GO BLACK STALLION!! I’ve witnessed the efforts of the players and most especially to the faculty members. Each of their personalities had enhanced quite bigger than before. As they both learned to socialize with others, letting themselves became connected to them was worth it because they learned to give value towards friendship and sportsmanship. Through this sportsmanship, values and leadership have been developed to everyone that’s why majority of the players after the activities taken are concluding that, “It is not important if you win or loss in a game, what is more important is how you played the game. Even the last days of the event, I felt so grateful in the sense that I had fulfilled something new. New memories that I will always conquer through the years of my life. From that collected memory of mine, I may be able to use it whenever I conquer new adventures. It was something that takes no regret because it was not made to be perfect, but it was made to be real.

Empty Minds
Hello!! I'm Julianna Sarona, Eighteen years old taking BS Hospitality Management at Lyceum of Subic Bay, first year. I would like to share my own story and the struggles I've been through when I was a child. My parents separated when I was still a child at the age of six or seven years old. My older sister and I live with our grandparents on my mother's side. I use to think that they don’t love use because of abandoning us in the care of our grandparents, but it doesn’t mean they don’t care and love us i see and felt it when i was hospitalized when having severe asthma attacks it was the worst attacks and that time my mother show her care affection towards me well my grandparents love us both and they give the love that my parents can’t give their time and love in those days, Still love them because the life they gave to me i precious life that’s why I'm here today and they love us both no one is perfect we make mistake and learn from it. I want to share to you my journey from elementary up until now, I was bullied by my schoolmate when i was in elementary because of my weight my boy classmate use to hit me their hands in my arm that start of lowing of my self-esteem that cause of me being a shy person or being introvert person, I'm not mad at them but thankful that I wasn’t able to withstand the thing they said and do to me, without being mad and holding grudge to them. As I grow up and be the person I am to day i struggle in my life as a student and as daughter the more I see the responsibility when you grow older and more heartbreaks by having a responsible you will face in the time.

Bubbling everywhere
#PHnews: Bubbling everywhere
MANILA – If there is one word that has been officially added to the list of lingos professional and campus sportswriters have been using this year, that would be "bubble".
The term got a new meaning during the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
In an effort to finish the 2019-2020 season amid the pandemic, which stalled virtually all the major sporting events for a few months, the National Basketball Association (NBA) redefined "bubble" by inviting 22 teams, which either clinched a playoff berth or were virtually still in the playoff race, to converge at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando for a shortened regular season climax and the ensuing postseason.
The first-ever modern-day sports bubble turned out to be a huge success as the bubble delivered some of the NBA season's most memorable games and, most importantly, no one tested positive for Covid-19 inside it.
Following its success, four Philippine club leagues considered pushing through with their postponed seasons inside bubbles of their own in provinces already under the most lenient Covid-19 restrictions, the modified general community quarantine.
Two 5-on-5 basketball leagues, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the National Basketball League (NBL) chose Pampanga to be the venue of their bubbles.
The PBA, through the help of the Bases Conversion Development Authority, held its bubble in Metro Angeles, also known as Clark, while the NBL had its own bubble in San Fernando through some intervention from Pampanga governor Dennis Pineda.
On the other hand, two other professional leagues took their talents south of the metropolis.
The Philippines' premier 3x3 basketball league, the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3, began what would now be its 2020-2021 season inside the President's Cup bubble in Calamba.
Meanwhile, the Philippines Football League (PFL) did not look further for a bubble battleground as the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona was available.
Near and far
Only the Chooks 3x3 bubble was nearly identical to that of the NBA as everyone mainly converged at the Inspire Sports Academy, which has a lodging area for the athletes in it, so the players, league and team officials, and even the media present at the Chooks bubble can just simply go down from their bedrooms to the basketball court and vice versa.
The PBA and the PFL have interesting setups to their bubbles as their billeting areas were actually outside Angeles and Carmona, respectively.
The PBA delegation was accommodated at the Quest Hotel's Clark branch, which is actually under the jurisdiction of Mabalacat.
Quest is 11 kilometers away from the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
The PFL delegation, on the other hand, stayed at the Seda Hotel in Sta. Rosa City, some 18 kilometers away from the PFF National Training Centre.
On where the NBL delegation stayed during the league's bubble is unknown, but one can assume that it is also situated in San Fernando City, Pampanga, and is accessible from the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
Short and long
The NBL had the shortest-lived bubble as it was done just for the championship series between Pampanga and La Union to proceed.
The Delta, who surprisingly have the homecourt advantage literally, would beat the Paower to take their first NBL championship and the first professional basketball title for a Pampanga team since the Dragons took the inaugural Metropolitan Basketball Association title in 1998.
The Delta, however, needed four games to clinch the best-of-five series, that is, the Paower still got to win one game, Game 2 specifically, proof that the latter can defy the arena handicap.
Meanwhile, the PFL and Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 pushed through with the entirety of their conferences.
Zamboanga City took home the Chooks 3x3 President's Cup title after a near flawless run capped by winning the conference final where PHP1 million was at stake.
The squad would eventually rename itself to Manila Chooks TM for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters.
Meanwhile, United City, formerly known as Ceres Negros, captured its fourth consecutive PFL title by winning the first four of its five scheduled matches.
The PBA bubble, however, had the longest period as it lasted for two months with only one match already settled before the so-called restart.
Ginebra won its first Philippine Cup crown since 2007 after beating TNT in the best-of-seven finals.
Roadblocks
However, like some other sports bubbles that took place amid the pandemic, at least in the cases of the PBA and the PFL, not everything was perfect especially when suspected cases arose.
Late in October, the PBA bubble suddenly went in peril after a referee and a player from Blackwater were tested positive for Covid-19.
This came as a surprise for everyone since all of the delegates were tested negative upon entering the bubble.
Eventually, the two suspected cases turned out to be false negatives, and the league resumed its season after a surprise Halloween break.
Meanwhile, a total of nine people were tested positive for Covid-19 upon entering the PFL bubble.
This raised some alarm to the Sta. Rosa City government, but following an assurance from the league and the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), the bubble pushed through.
Both the PBA and the PFL bubbles ended up Covid-19 free.
On the other hand, while it is expected for short bubbles, the Chooks 3x3 and the NBL bubbles remained Covid-19 free all tournament long to the delight of GAB chairman Baham Mitra.
“We thank them for their diligence and close working relationship with the GAB. We look forward to working again with them soon. They have exceeded the suggested protocols and it paid off,” Mitra said.
More bubbles coming
The 2020 Philippine pro sports bubbles are now set to be considered as precedents as other tournaments are now considering holding their seasons inside those of their own.
The Philippine Super Liga (PSL), upon the initial approval of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), planned to hold its annual beach volleyball tournament inside a bubble at the Metro Olongapo area or the Subic Bay area.
However, due to the storms that ravaged Luzon last month, the PSL beach volleyball event was pushed to 2021.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association, on the other hand, is planning to hold its men's basketball season also next year inside two bubbles based on the proximity from each other.
The three teams situated in the Intramuros district, defending champion and Season 96 host Letran, Mapua, and Lyceum, plus the two non-Manila teams, Jose Rizal University of Mandaluyong and Perpetual Help of Las Pinas, will be secluded inside one bubble.
The other bubble will consist of the teams from the University Belt area, San Beda, San Sebastian, and Arellano, and the teams from Taft Avenue, Saint Benilde and Emilio Aguinaldo College.
Even the national teams are entering bubbles.
In fact, Gilas Pilipinas Men were the first to do so, putting up a training bubble inside the Inspire Sports Academy for the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, which happened inside a bubble in Manama, Bahrain.
According to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Inspire will host Gilas Men anew for another training bubble before they head to Clark for the third window from Feb. 18-22.
Recently as well, the IATF-EID cleared national athletes from other sports to push through with their own bubbles.
In fact, Bases Conversion Development Authority President Vince Dizon bared on Tuesday that athletics plan to hold a training bubble inside the New Clark City Athletics Stadium by February ahead of the national open in April.
The national open, the first of two scheduled for next year, will serve as a qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics.
However, expect these bubbles to be among the last as Philippine sports is expected to go back to its regular track once the Covid-19 vaccines arrive early next year. (PNA)

The Effects of Video Games.
Since the Varsity League players of Lyceum of Subic Bay are currently training to compete, here’s an insight to what video games are:
First let’s explain what a video game really is. Video games are interactive entertainment with electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a display screen. You can play via pc, phone, tablet, or on a console (a computerized electronic device specifically for playing video games). For some parents video games are only time eating or time wasting machines and some education experts think that video games are what corrupts the brain. Playing violent video games are easily blamed by the education experts and especially the media because they say that it is the reason why some young people become violent, but many psychologists and scientists arugue that video games can actually have many benefits.
Here are some of benefits of video games:
It improves the cognitive functions. It changes the brain structure the same way if you were playing piano; navigating the map and learning to read.
It also improves your decision making and accuracy. Video games prepare gamers to make quick decisions, it trains the brain to make fast decisions without losing accuracy.
It encourages team work. A lot of multiplayer games online need team work or team cooperation to win especially MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) games where each member has a different role in the team which plays a big role in winning the game.
Setting that aside, we can’t ignore that video games do have negative effects also if not used moderately:
Social isolation is one of the biggest issues. Teens are playing way too much video games rather than spending time outdoors. Video games are making teens socially isolated.
Poor academic performance. Playing too much can affect your school performances. Players may have a hard time focusing in school specially when he/she spend more than two hours gaming.
Adverse effect on health. Some teens don’t participate anymore in activities that can help them become fit or healthy. What’s worst is some palayers skip their meals just to play games which can lead to muscular and skeletal disorder, obesity, video induced sizures, nerve compression and eating disorders.
So the next time you plan on entering the gaming world, remember to do so in moderation! Too much of anything can be harmful so play a game or two and call it a day.

Global Youth Forum (GYF) 2017 promotes sustainable tourism among young travelers
Out of Town Blog Global Youth Forum (GYF) 2017 promotes sustainable tourism among young travelers
Conference promotes sustainable tourism among young travelers
The wonders of traveling are figuratively a click away for today’s youth. It is more apparent that the millennials, with their spending capability and insatiable thirst for exploring and sharing their experiences, are in the position to redefine the face of tourism as we knew it.
coastal cleanup
Social media abounds with proof. Whether it is about scaling a mountain or diving under the sea, today’s travelers are more than willing to tell others about their memories. Many profiles show a glimpse of travel stories captured in breathtaking photos and cool travel videos.
But traveling is not just about adventure and pampering. Nowadays, the adventure of a lifetime comes with soul searching and giving back components. Putting meaning to their globetrotting, young explorers go for authentic experiences, which explain the surge of homestay, “voluntourism” or volunteering for tourism efforts, and interaction with locals.
Those at the helm of the tourism sector can feel the impact of the new travel practices. The preferences of the new breed of travelers are shaping the industry, and sustainable and responsible travels are gaining more traction.
These developments will be among the trends highlighted at the Global Youth Forum (GYF) 2017, a conference organized by the International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST) headed by former Department of Tourism Secretary Mina T. Gabor.
To be held on February 20-21, 2017 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC), Subic Bay Freeport Zone, the forum will carry the theme “Youth on Sustainable Tourism.”
This pushes forward the United Nation World Tourism Organization’s (UNTWO) announcement that 2017 is the “International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.” The event also celebrates the chairmanship of the Republic of the Philippines of the upcoming “ASEAN 2017: 50th Anniversary.”
Defining sustainable tourism
Sustainable travel is a buzzword and a lifestyle statement that encourages the adoption of a proactive and green stance on traveling.
UNTWO defined it as the “development [that] meets the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting and enhancing the opportunity for the future.”
Responsible tourism is closely linked to sustainable tourism as it is any form of tourism that impacts positively on the visited communities.
GYF 2017 program
The GYF 2017 sessions aim to create awareness and appreciation for sustainable tourism, expose the youth to leaders pioneering sustainable tourism from all over the world, and inspire the youth to practice responsible travel.
The topics include “Heritage Tourism: Building a Strong Foundation Through Cultural Preservation”; “Striking a Balance: Ecotourism for Environmental Conservation and Rural Development”; “Match Made in Heaven: Community Development and Tourism”; “Doing Our Part: Responsible Travelling for the Millennial Traveller”; and “A Green Future: Career Opportunities in Sustainable Tourism.”
Promote sustainable tourism
The Invited speakers who will share their insights include Ivan Henares, head of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Committee on Monuments and Sites; Marika Constantino, executive director of Escolta 98B COLLABoratory; Atty. Lucille Isberto, head of International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Philippines; Jamie Ann Dichaves, sustainability officer, Lio Tourism Estate, Palawan; Jose Angelito Palma, chief executive officer (CEO) and president of World Wildlife Fund-Philippines; Joselito Costas, provincial tourism officer of Cebu; Ann Dumaliang, National Geographic explorer and project officer of Masungi Georeserve; Juliette Kwee, founder and CEO of Smokey Tours; Jun Tibi and Sara Erasmo, co-founder of Kawil Tours and Reef Nomads Skin Diving Tours, respectively; April Cuenca, founder and CEO of Tripkada; Sarah Aquino, founding member, Juan Portrait; Marie Grace Pascua, director of the NCCA Socioeconomic Services and Special Concerns; JC Wong, youth tourism ambassador of Pacific Asia Travel Association; Ludwig Federigan, executive director of the Youth Environmental Forum; Raf Dionisio, co-founder, Make a Difference (MAD) Travel; and Bob Zozobrado, executive director, Lyceum of the Philippines University.
Strong influence on tourism
