Giving some attention to the straights (poor souls), a difficult thing with the few female characters at my disposal...thoughts on L/Misa? And since you've been in the fandom for a while I'd be curious to know how ships involving Misa were treated back then 👀 I don't see much vitriol these days but I can't imagine it used to be the same

Hmm! I think LxMisa has some fun chemistry in the sense that they're both faves of mine and act like bratty 13 year olds around each other, and I can imagine quite a few entertaining moments and circumstances between them in canon and whatnot. But my take is ALSO that L was canonically a HUGE asshole to Misa (he treated her much worse than Light did! Even though that seems to rarely be acknowledged in fandomland), and I don't think he actually liked her at all, whether or not he maybe thought that she was hot (and in the manga that's not even something that is really implied). Though I think the two of them being pals or hooking up casually or something could be entertaining, I don't ship it in the way like I want them to genuinely fall for each other and get together or something. Just holds absolutely no deep/longterm relationship interest as a ship for me.

Hahaha, well from what I remember back in the day Misa was mostly either treated like she did not actually exist or was hated on immensely for "getting in the way of lawlight" so yeah I think people have def gotten a little less intense about this and positive toward her over time!

okay so in my eyes, they don’t so much use nicknames as they use general pet names.

i think that L defaults to love because, you know, british. other than that, i think he stays formal for a while. the amane-san->misa-san->misa pipeline is real

for misa, i think she’s the opposite. she’d probably love using pet names like sweetie and honey. just the basic ones. and i think she defaults to ryuzaki sometimes as well. i think that’s a common headcanon and i just so happen to be extremely basic.

Thanks for asking! Unfortunately I probably won't be updating very soon, so I've put it on hiatus. I do have about 20k more words written, but they need to be edited and connecting scenes need to be written, etc. I definitely do plan to finish it though, it's not abandoned and I haven't stopped thinking about it!

Since last updating, I've gotten obsessed with a new story, started getting divorced, and lost a parent, so I've got kind of a lot going on rn. I'm hoping to get most of my new story written, start posting it, and then go back to finishing up Oleander.

I totally understand having a DN rarepair (LMello which is. More than a rarepair) LOL it seems like there are a lot more lawmane shippers than there ever have been in the past tho!!! <- has received a very warm and enthusiastic welcome from several of you 🥺💖

The thing is that I could definitely see Mello and Misa getting along -> Mello poses no threat to Misa's man (doesn't want him, Light is straight ofc 😇😍) but fem!Mello... LOL femMello would be like "ugh straight girls I DON'T WANT YOUR MAN BITCH" and Misa would try and claw her eyes out. I'M SORRY MISA IS SO STRAIGHT TO ME IT PAINS ME TO SAY THIS AS A DIEHARD REMMISA AND HALLEMISA GIRLIE BUT. IT'S JUST NOT HAPPENING. I don't remember who pointed this out but she's one of those girls to let another girl eat her out and then say pussy is yucky.

FemMello and Halle definitely had sex but are totally incompatible/both agree that all-blonde couples are scary looking. <- Halle needs someone responsible with only the occasional venture into danger. (Like Naomi <3) like she wants guns in her house to be registered not stolen LOL.

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

I don't really vibe with MisaxLight nor LxMisa as ships where the feelings are mutual and they geniunely are in love with each other, nor Remisa as one that I'd actually enjoy being in myself (I like the aesthetic of it, but find Rem a bit dull and frustrating as a character and their dynamic super depressing overall). Also LxMatsuda, I just simply cannot fathom them ever getting along, and not in a spicy opposites sort of way. I prefer LightxRyuk as platonic bros as well, though I do think they have great chemistry and are one of the more healthy dynamics in the series overall!

A looong time ago, my 12 years old self always imagined how nice it’d be  if Misa and L fell in love and she lived at Wammy’s house with him and  his succesors...all the hijinks that would ensue, but could never figure  out how and why. Anyways, reading fanfic, specially Kandrak and Gigantomachy Has inspired me and now i Can go ham on my headcanons LOLOL. I'm sure my teenage self would be happy
