the terror and the beauty of it is that you will probably never know if it ever happened, or when, or how. you do not command the waves that you cast.

the one thing i want to be able to do as a writer is make people come back to something ive written. i want that piece of text to haunt them, i want their thoughts to be briefly consumed by this. i want this to be something they remember long after its time. thats the one thing i want to do

I think often about how in ACOTAR Book 1, Lucien Vanserra was ready to lay down his life for this human girl, Feyre Archeron. Again and again, he stuck his neck out there for her Under the Mountain and throughout the trials. While I do think it is a reflection of his loyalty to friends, his courage against the evil of Amarantha, and his honor for doing what is right…

I also think it was because of Tamlin. Because Lucien didn’t want the one friend who took him in after his darkest day—who helped save him from his family’s wrath and gave him a Court and a home—to watch the girl he loved be butchered cruelly because of who she was in relation to those in power. He didn’t want Tamlin to experience what he did with Jesminda.

The lesser fae and the mortal girl. Everything he did was for them.

For his friend with the stone heart to not break, just as his once did.

Thinking about...Taliesin saying that Molly would've taken Caleb out drinking and partying. Tried to quiet all the gutting guilt and grief eating Widogast alive by offering him a pleasant distraction from all the pain--a bit of fun, a spark of desire.

And just the implications of...a night spent in someone's arms for the first time in the longest time, Caleb so achingly touch-starved and lonely. Molly's touch far gentler and softer than he'd expected, the same comforting warmth as a tender forehead kiss he still clings to the memory of.

The way Lucien also used sex as a coping mechanism when he was at his most depressed and despondent, so lonely and self-isolated and desperate for any taste of affection. And when Molly sees Caleb wallow in all his self-hatred and sorrow, drawn to his own self-destruction like moth to flame--he can't help but long to reach out, to connect. To give this other Empty, shattered soul a bit of the love he always craved.

Thinking of Molly having the chance to be with Caleb, even just for a moment. Both of them sheltered in the Moonweaver's light, swept up in the lulling comfort of a lover's embrace. Both of their hearts feeling lighter come dawn--

and even if the thing itself is not deep, maybe it has an effect on me that brings up deep thoughts and ideas?? and maybe that's not a bad thing? or silly? or too much?

maybe I actually want to engage into feeling and thinking things? instead of just mindlessly consuming one media after another and never making anything out of it?

maybe I like to care about things?

I want someone to provide me canon text as to why Elain "can't stand being near Lucien" and how that proves she doesn't find him attractive.

Does she ignore him as of the novella and SF? Yes but so did Nesta when it came to Cassian:

There were layered and complex reasons for why Nesta ignored Cassian at various points throughout the series regardless of her attraction to him so why couldn't there also be layered and complex reasons for Elain in regards to Lucien?

If your answer is "because she doesn't want a mate" then doesn't canon text also support a female main character changing her mind on that?

So how does anyone know with 100% certainty that Elain has zero sexual attraction to Lucien just because she ignores him at this point in the series, a change from what happened between them in ACOWAR:

Feyre cringed at the sound of Rhys's name after she had fallen for him:

Cringed at his name after running away from him after he was wounded once she found out they were mates.

We saw these moments despite the fact that Rhys was the most beautiful man Feyre had ever seen:

Elain doesn't have to want to interact with Lucien to be sexually attracted to him, correct? There are many people I find extremely good looking who I'll never interact with because I'm not in a position to pursue them. If she is sexually attracted to him she might not want to act upon it if she's not in the frame of mind for something more meaningful which sex with a known mate would most likely be. Even without having fallen in love a confirmed bond is a bridge to anothers soul and that's a lot more than just sex. Her not wanting more right now makes sense after her broken engagement, her not wanting a mate for that same reason at this point in the series does too though it's something that could easily change in the span of 800+ pages.

Hooking up with Lucien would come with much more intensity than hooking up with a random guy she sees from time to time and who she doesn't share a bond with.

It's canon Elain found Az attractive but we have no proof she found him better looking than Graysen, that he's anything special to her at all, that hooking up with him would have meant anything at all.

And while it's canon she wanted to hook up with Az we don't have the reasons behind it, whether a night of fun, proving to Nesta that she too can go off and fuck strangers or her simply trying to forget the emotions she might feel when her mate is around.

I can't prove with certainty that is the case but the other side can't prove it isn't therefore it's still on the table.

In SF it became canon that Nesta found Cassian appealing from the start though she did not give in to her sexual desires for him until her book.

So again where is this canon text that proves we can't see the same for Elain in regards to Lucien?

it’s been said many times before but guilty as sin is forever elucien to me but specifically all the references to visions and memories that don’t actually exist

Elain keeps seeing glimpses of her future with Lucien-of their love and their coupling- but sometimes she doubts if the visions she sees are fantasies or truly memories she has yet to form

Are these actions predetermined or is it her repressed longing sneaking through? (“keep these longings locked in lowercase inside a vault”!!)

Is it showing her what could be? What will be?

If she hasn’t actually touched him yet, she has nothing to be guilty for…But she gets these romantic and lustful thoughts and visions and suddenly doesn’t know what to say to him

in their real time they’re at a standstill but in her head they’re anything but

I don't think Tamlin should be worried about Rhys or Feyre, He should sleep with open eyes because of Nesta and Morrigan ->

these 2 weeks of sick leave have been lifesaving. I feel a sense of connection with myself that I haven't felt in a very long time.

I got things done. Not a lot, and it took very long, but I did it. I did big things that I have wanted to do for ages.

I'm still a mess, but that's okay. I don't think there will be a time where I'm not a mess in some way, it's what makes me me. I just need to have a life that has room for being a mess - and that's not the life I was having until now.

I find myself believing that it is possible to have a life where I'm happy. I don't know how, and it's not yet the life I have, but I feel like it's possible. Two weeks ago that was unthinkable.

Forget that Dorian got rejected by Aelin, watched his next lover Sorcha's head get cut off, and then was a prisoner of his own mind and had to watch his dad die after finding out he loved him all those years.

I don’t think people realize how difficult it must be to navigate a relationship in which your best friend is also your subject and employee.Trying to balance all three roles whilst also keeping them separate is near impossible and there’s bound to be moments where the person has to be more “high lord” than “friend” to the other person.The highlord and the other person are walking a very fine line trying to make their friendship work and there will be times where they’re forced back into their respective roles.This is why our standards for friendship can’t be applied to the friendships in acotar because in almost every one there is an inherent power imbalance.If we’re gonna get on every highlords case any time they act like highlords towards their friends and pull a little rank then fuck me because every friendship is doomed.Like honestly props to tamlin and lucien for even lasting this long without a fallout because if I had to live with my bestfriend whose also my boss we would’ve killed each other a long time ago 💀.
